One night stay arrived around 1900 and was seen immediately, given details of breakfast dinner etc. The room was superior I think, so it was bigger than normal and on the ground floor. Great big room comfy bed, clean and big bathroom. Had dinner there was a Thursday so steak night for two. Fantastic is all we can say well recommended. Great sleep and in morning, plenty of cereals fruit etc and then we had breakfast which for us was big and we couldn't finish!! Great staff so thank you to all that we met.

I travel all over Scotland on business and stay in hotels around 180 nights a year. The Gretna Chase Hotel is a lovely place. Preet who was serving behind the bar was very pleasant. My room, dinner & breakfast was really good. I will definitely be returning in 2023.

Stayed here three nights in November. The food continues to be of excellent quality and portion sizes are generous. The waiting staff are so friendly (sorry, don’t know their names) but always smiling. Thank you. Karen in the bar is a familiar friendly face and always makes me feel welcome. And welcome to Preet who has been an excellent substitute for Aimee. You’ve been great. I’ll definitely be back here.

Me and my partner booked a table here for food while on a visit to Gretna. We had eaten here in the past and always thought it was fantastic so we expected the same. Unfortunately it seems after what seems to be an ownership change the food is no longer what it once was. To start we waited 30 mins for a burger and a pizza when the restaurant was empty.. The pizza was made with pitta bread instead of pizza dough which wasn’t advertised on the menu. The cheese used was tasteless and cheap. The burger was cold in places and very dry, unseasoned. It just crumbled when trying to eat. The chips were over cooked. After such good stays here in the past it was so disappointing. The waitress didn’t come to check if everything was okay until 10 minutes after we’d had the food bought to us. When we raised the issue the management did attempt to correct the problem by offering to cook the food again and offered us free desserts however we’d already been there for almost an hour and our appetites were shot at this point. I will not be eating here again unfortunately.

I was meeting friends at a mutually cottage convenient place. Service was great. Place was clean tidy and warm. Food was tasty enjoyable and well presented. We were not pressured in leaving to get the table. Over all very enjoyable and I will return.

A beautiful grand building in a wonderful setting. It was very quiet but the service and food were excellent. Not cheap but definitely worth it for a special occasion.

This restaurant is part of Smiths hotel at Gretna Green. We were in the final days of our holiday in Scotland and wanted to have a special meal. We were staying at the hotel and saw this had good reviews. Well it didn’t disappoint. It was good that you could pick and mix from the a la carte menu and the bar menu. Every course was very good. Because we had courses from both menus I didn’t think it was too expensive. The service was good although it was very busy with other events going on. The staff were kept busy but were still attentive to our needs. Would recommend if you want something special or just for an evening meal.

A super bed and breakfast with a lovely vegan curry and home baked ecclefechan tart in the bar which had an open fire. Steve and Mary looked after us like a mum and a big brother. Could not do enough for us including a very welcome lift to and from hoddom Bridge as we were walking the annandale way. And a packed lunch to order. Will recommend to all, especially walkers.

We ate here and finished our meal, the waitress cleared away and we decided we'd have another round of drinks before leaving. We waited 5, 10 minutes and the waitress never came back. I went in search of someone but couldn't find our waitress. I didn't like to open the doors to the kitchen. We waited another 5 minutes and my wife said 'this is ridiculous' and went off in pursuit. She found our waitress in the bar (was she watching TV, did she fancy the barman?) and asked if we could get some service. The waitress said 'the restaurant is closed', as if we were being unreasonable in expecting to be served a round of drinks. No, the restaurant isn't closed if you've still got people sitting at a table you're serving and you haven't asked them if they want a dessert or offered them the bill but simply buggered off. So we said OK, can we just pay the bill. Which we did, and obviously didn't leave tip. We won't be going back.

We had a day out yesterday and ended up here for coffee. The sign at the entrance said the cafe was open until 4.30. As it was just before 4 when we parked round the back we thought we had plenty of time. However when we entered the cafe I approached the counter to order I was told in no uncertain terms that they were shut. When I pointed out that their sign had said it was open until 4.30 the rude assistant pointed to the sign on the counter which said last orders 4. I said it was 4 and we only wanted coffees she said 'well we're shut'. You would think that after 2 years of pandemic that businesses would be grateful for any money they could get, well that's not the case in this cafe. We had been going to buy some plants but left empty handed and on the way out told the assistant in the shop that we wouldn't be back. Their loss is someone else's gain
