This hotel is dated, dirty and damp. We stayed here for 2 nights bed and breakfast, we were not checked in politely, just given our key to No 24. There was a âdirty smellâ in the room and the window had been left open which is a good job because it was that dirty you couldnât see through it. The bedding was adequate, but the TV didnât work. There were watermarks on the wall from a leak that had not been re painted. The bathroom was dated and had visible signs of damp. There also was an electric towel rail that had black insulation tape wrapped round the electric cable connection, with a PAT test sticker on it dated 2018!!!! You only need portable appliances to be PAT tested! The bar area was not the best and the staff ate their meals at the table in the bar and one of them even regularly took his blood pressure with a portable monitor. We came down for breakfast and were met with an abundance of opened large cereal boxes and uncovered fruit and cheeses which were very tempting to the many flies in the lobby area next to the âdining roomâ. We sat at a table but the carpet was that dirty and sticky the chair stuck to it!!! âŚ.we didnât eat breakfast!! It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in the owners have left it to rack and ruin and itâs a shame as itâs a historical building in a nice little town.

We had an extremely disappointing experience at the restaurant of this hotel. Upon arriving, we were met with a shockingly rude and unwelcoming attitude from the lady behind the bar. Despite the hotel advertising takeaway options online, she dismissively told us to go elsewhere if we wanted takeaway food. Her tone was condescending and unnecessarily hostile, even though the restaurant was completely empty. Thankfully, there was a lovely younger English waitress who went out of her way to accommodate our dietary needs, offering to prepare a chicken salad that met our allergy requirements for takeaway. However, just as we thought the situation was being resolved, the rude lady came along stating that they could not accommodate us and insisted we go across the road. It felt as though she was deliberately making the process difficult and seemed more interested in turning us away than providing good service. The way she spoke to us was completely unprofessional & condescending. The experience left a sour taste, not because of the food, but because of the complete lack of professionalism and respect. We expected much more from a hotel restaurant, and sadly, this encounter really let the place down. I would not recommend anybody to eat here and it completely spoilt our last night on our family holiday.

We visited the pub for food and drinks. We stopped in on our canoeing trip. A group of six adults, four children. We were cold, wet and tired. Tommy and Janine gave us the warmest welcome and were so accommodating of our many questions and requests. The fish and chips cooked up by the chef were crispy and excellent. Highly recommend!

The location is spectacular - worth going for the views over the loch and the mountains alone. But the restaurant itself was disappointing from the outset. The entrance feels unloved, and we weren't even sure if the place was open - it had the feel of an abandoned student canteen. You have to walk through that bit to get to the main seating area. Here, we were greeted by a staff member who didn't really seem to want to be there - and who could blame her? The seating area with the big windows looking over the loch could have been amazing but managed to feel dingy. The unfortunate gaudy 'art' on the walls was perhaps an attempt to inject cheer. It didn't. The lunch menu was uninspiring, and there were very few healthy options other than the soup, which was surprising given that a lot of the clientele at an outdoors centre are probably into healthy eating. Vegetables were in short supply, and the macaroni cheese was very dry. On the plus side, we enjoyed the cakes. The place has such potential - with a bit of effort to improve the ambience, the staff attitude and the food, The Boathouse could be a winner. As it is, we weren't surprised that the restaurant was almost empty.

Absolutely Love Love Love Wimpy. In my opinion better than McDonalds , Burger King and KFC I had the Chicken Stack and it was incredible pure chicken when you bit into it. The roll was lovely. The chips were really nice. I had the Salted Caramel Milkshake which was Lush and I had the Eton mess dessert which was a amazing treat and so so nice Food is Excellent Quality and can tell itâs Fresh and the staff are always lovely and helpful I always look forward to a wimpy if Iâm ever in for a Ross County Game itâs a highlight of Dingwall I highly recommend and Give 5 out of 5 Stars âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸

Really enjoyed my food. Was really tasty sea bass dish with couscous cous and other meals were nice as well. However, at ÂŁ50 a head you have to ask was it worth it and the answer is no. There was also a ÂŁ3 surcharge for a cheese dessert which is a bit cheeky. The main issue I had was with the service. There was no atmosphere in the restaurant as such until it got busier and our table was up near where they all stand as people come in. Just felt we were being watched the whole time and then just as we finished our courses someone was in your face taking the plate away. This is great service itâs fast service. Not what I want when Iâm out for a meal. We did enjoy the bar afterwards as well so rates 4 as whole experience was good, but some serious issues to tackle which would prevent me returning.

Just about always pop in for a nice đ treat whenever up here visiting rellies. Very nice food, and can highly recommend the spiced pumpkin cake. Really love the open view looking across to the Orkney Islands , and enjoy watching visitors getting their photographs taken next to the famous signpost. There are lots of interesting things to look at inside too - including local produce & artwork, and the uniquely spooky â Halloween Treeâ .

Returned for a meal with my wife. The attendant , "Alan" sorted us with a table and even read out the daily specials board as I was too lazy to get up. We selected a few dishes from a very reasonably priced menu and ordered some drinks. I have to say the food was excellent, I had " sizzling chicken frajitas" , and you could hear them sizzling as they left the kitchen, huge portion, and my better half had the stornoway black pudding burger , again huge and both dishes as tasty as tasty can be. All this, complete with a cheeky wee curly fries and pepper sauce . Washed down with some wine and a pint. This bistro/ bar/restaurant and it's staff and food /drink are a credit to the owner, Mr Dale "reilly" Monk. Alan our server and the other staff go that extra mile every time we visit and that is why it's the best in the West. 10/10
