We had an extremely disappointing experience at the restaurant of this hotel. Upon arriving, we were met with a shockingly rude and unwelcoming attitude from the lady behind the bar. Despite the hotel advertising takeaway options online, she dismissively told us to go elsewhere if we wanted takeaway food. Her tone was condescending and unnecessarily hostile, even though the restaurant was completely empty. Thankfully, there was a lovely younger English waitress who went out of her way to accommodate our dietary needs, offering to prepare a chicken salad that met our allergy requirements for takeaway. However, just as we thought the situation was being resolved, the rude lady came along stating that they could not accommodate us and insisted we go across the road. It felt as though she was deliberately making the process difficult and seemed more interested in turning us away than providing good service. The way she spoke to us was completely unprofessional & condescending. The experience left a sour taste, not because of the food, but because of the complete lack of professionalism and respect. We expected much more from a hotel restaurant, and sadly, this encounter really let the place down. I would not recommend anybody to eat here and it completely spoilt our last night on our family holiday.

We visited the pub for food and drinks. We stopped in on our canoeing trip. A group of six adults, four children. We were cold, wet and tired. Tommy and Janine gave us the warmest welcome and were so accommodating of our many questions and requests. The fish and chips cooked up by the chef were crispy and excellent. Highly recommend!

Restaurant de l'hôtel très bon ! Les fish and ships et le cullen skink étaient délicieux. Plats typiquement écossais. Service au top !

The best thing about the Loch Sheil, besides the good atmosphere, good food and good beer is the excellent bar service. The barmaid is georgous (and just happens to be my wife).

Went here for lunch. Staff was friendly and food was okay. It's a shame the plate they served my jacket potato on was too small, because it could have done with a little more filling. But my husband said his toasty was very good.

We were welcomed and shown straight through to the conservatory by our hostess. It was nice and airy with lovely views over the garden - look out for the 'wild' rabbits - they made me smile. There was a nice selection of food, I had the gammon - good pub grub! It was a rather large helping; I'm not complaining. The food was reasonably priced. The staff were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.

called in one Saturday evening as hotel looked attractive and had seen on website food done every evening. Unfortunately we chose wrong night as it was very busy with a wake. We were quickly approached and told food was not being served due to the wake. Lady was very pleasant and told us bar was open if we wanted a drink. Understandably it was a bit noisy so we decided not to stay...but due to the rural nature of the location there was little option but to have fish and chips from takeaway. .....so ,looked worth a visit but maybe call in advance to ensure its open

We popped in during the day to book for dinner and were a bit put off as it looked a bit Fawlty Towers and the receptionist rather preoccupied but in the evening the fish and chips were tasty and the waitress friendly.

A lovely welcoming place to go to eat, comfortable surroundings with lovely views out to Loch Sheil. The food was delicious and home cooked, lacking pretension and plenty of it for a reasonable price! All in all a lovely place to eat.

The Loch Sheil has, sadly, been somewhere we have avoided for the last few years, simply because it was truly awful. However, we were thrilled to hear Cath & Andrew McClain had taken over the hotel and had really high hopes for the place. I'm delighted to say we were not disappointed. Delicious home cooked, local produce; the langoustines were some of the sweetest I've tasted (caught that morning), and all served up with a generous helping of Highland hospitality. The staff are all very warm, friendly and welcoming and do their utmost to accommodate any requests. Coming from a small village where we are able to enjoy all that an excellent pub can offer, both to the local community and visitors alike, we were really thrilled to see Acharacle have it's local restored to it's former glory and once again become the hub of what is a truly gorgeous village.

I was looking forward to our meal at Loch Sheil House Hotel. We had a lovely view from where we were sitting and the food was fine but very average. It wasn't good enough to warrant a return visit so we self catered for the rest of the time.

rocked up at the Loch Sheil at half 2 on Wednesday and asked if they were still doing food as we were rather hungry, the lovely lad behind the bar said they had stopped serving but they could do us soup or a toastie, many places we have visited would have just said no and that would have been it, we enjoyed a very basic but tasty toastie and were most grateful that they were good enough to prepare food for us.

Popped in here for lunch before the Loch Shiel cruise. Were a bit early for the bar, but no worries, tea, coffee & biscuits quickly appeared. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the service excellent. We both had the homemade venison burgers and they were scrummy to say the least. Good value too. Loved the new refurbished look too.

Give them a chance. New owners, new beginning. Friendly service. Clean. Not a large menu yet but they're still recruiting staff. Seems busier than last year which is a good sign. If they get the menu right and don't overcharge this will be a winner.

The Fish and Chip Shop is in our experience is without a doubt the BEST IN CAITHNESS AND SUTHERLAND! The fish was white and flakes. fried in beautiful crispy batter and the chips were perfect. We have experienced other Chip Shops in Wick,Thurso and Helmsdale, plus Mobile Chip Vans in Lybsterand Dunbeath and this has been the best so far too. We travelled around 30 miles to eat here and would do so again. THANK YOU.
