A lovely setting but I have never been treated with such rudeness by anyone running a business before. It was a repeat visit for me. We were served the first time by both a younger and older man , They were friendly and polite. The place seemed a bit chaotic but they were doing their best. On a return trip I took my elderly mother in for a drink as it was a really hot day and she was thirsty. I approached the counter and was told by a lady that I would have to leave as 'she had nothing left' I did say that all I wanted were some drinks and was about to ask if we could possibly take them away, when I was informed that 'I would have to go to the shop down the road'. I then had to take my mother back out to the car park which was quite a journey for her as she is very unsteady on her feet. I think that the lady who runs this place would be better suited in a job where she is not dealing with the public!

We called off here when doing the NC 500 one Sunday lunch time for a quick bite to eat and what a fabulous little cafe we found. A brilliant view and such a friendly old guy that served us. We all had sandwiches and paninis with chips and drinks which were very tasty. Whilst we were waiting for our food we did a lovely children's jigsaw. Great little place.

Such a pleasant and unplanned visit to this little tea room on our drive to the Torridon from Isle of Skye. Fantastic scenery with ample outdoor seating and quite an extensive menu consider location and size of the place. We ordered the soup of the day - tomato and lentil and a cauliflower and Parmesan. Both accompanied by some delightful warm and crusty bread for the very good price of £3.60. Service was fantastic - a lovely couple who have been in the area for 29 years, in the cafe for 6. They were extremely friendly and happy to chat, so much so that we were taken outside to look at some of the trees where we could see lichen growing which shows the purity of the air. Don’t understand some of the negative reviews here. Either people are reviewing an entirely different establishment or it was different front of house staff on the day. The married couple there the day we visited make us want to go back again and again.

I’ve never been compelled to write a review like this before but here we go. We visited this cafe on a Monday afternoon. There were a few other people sat inside already. As we entered a lady walked past us serving some food. She didn’t say ‘hello’ or even acknowledge us which seemed odd. We had a quick look at the blackboard menu and chose to sit at a table near the window. There were some empty cups on the table where it hadn’t been cleared yet but we didn’t mind that. Before we even sat down the same woman approached. I asked if it was alright to sit there to which she replied “why do you have to sit at this one? Can’t you sit at a clear table?” She started commenting to the other customers about why we had to choose that table. With that, I told her we’d take our business elsewhere and we left. I struggle to see how you can run a business like this. I don’t for a minute think the customer is always right, some customers can be a pain in the proverbial but to just be rude to potential customers is never going to get you anywhere. I suspect that this woman just cannot cope with more than a few customers and is probably in need of some help. We took our business to the Waterside cafe just up the road. Friendly staff, nice cake and coffee too.

Stopped here on our way to Applecross. What a delightful place with welcoming staff. We were the only diners there when we arrived but it soon started getting busy. We had the smoked haddock soup, and it was delicious! I would totally recommend this place. As it’s winter, their hours of operation is less than normal but we were lucky to have picked a Friday at lunchtime to visit Applecross, especially when a lot of other places in Scotland seem to close for the winter months.

Food and service for us was ok but a family of Indian tourists arrived which revealed a nasty racist attitude by one of the staff and they were treated very badly. The staff at this restaurant are sadly not cut out for the hospitality trade. Unlike elsewhere throughout our month long visit to Scotland, there was no attempt at courtesy or rapport with customers. Instead, the tension amongst the staff was expressed loudly and repeatedly, in a manner bordering on bullying, creating a very uncomfortable atmosphere in the cafe. They didnt seem to be able to cope with the lunchtime rush, despite the fact that the cafe was only three quarters full, and the menu limited in range. The lack of etiquette might have been forgivable had the food had been up to scratch, but regrettably it wasnt: bedraggled slimy lettuce and a sandwich comprising lumps of chicken literally drowning in mayonnaise for just short of £5 is not good enough in this day and age. Its a shame, as the location is utterly stunning.

We ordered 2 bacon rolls and 2 pates and toast. We waited a while then her husband turned up and was serving. Much clattering of dishes and a couple of domestics later we were served. Rolls were the cheapest of the cheap. Cafe filled up and it was like faulty towers. Not impressed and would avoid at all costs. Low budget low key. Dire !!!

5 of us stopped here for lunch after a long day of driving. Because of the lovely views in the cafe we took a table by the window. The table had two cups of coffee on it from the previous customers. Rather than clearing the table and making us welcome the waitress rudely told us “I haven’t cleared that one yet so why don’t you sit in that other one” she then went into the kitchen and we could hear her complaining about us. She didn’t even say hello when we walked in. Needless to say we walked straight out and took our business elsewhere!

Me and my family had been traveling for a few hours and we though this looked a lovely place to stop. Well how wrong were we. My mother asked for 2 teas one with sugar one without. I was in complete shock when the rude reply of the woman (owner I think) was "yeah just give a minute" in the most rude way possible. When the tea was made I then asjed for 3 muffins and once again the woman was rude towards my family. She then forced a magazine in my mothers hands and demanded we sit down , guess what... in a rude manner. On the way out I seceded to use the toilet. After washing my hands I cane upon a dirty towel which was meant to be for drying my hand. I would never recommend this "tee-rible" "cafe" because of the pure utter rudeness of the woman and because of the unhygienic restroom. Shocking.

Having read the many excellent reviews on this place, I can't understand the service we received on March 15th. Our group of six had been travelling a few hours when we decided to stop for lunch. As I used the bathroom (which was very clean!) My husband and friends went to ask if there was any takeout sandwiches. The waitress rudely told them to go to the garage down the road. They asked instead if tea and cake was available, and were told again to go to the garage!?? We left very disappointed as the cafe was a very quaint little place with beautiful views (and we were hungry!) Maybe they were just having a bad day?

I wish we had tried it sooner so we could have gone again and again. The lady serving was very welcoming and took our orders. The food was freshly prepared but didn't take long to arrive and everything we had was perfect. The price was perfect too. All in all it was a great place to stop. I would have liked to have played a few holes on the course, which is very short but looks like a challenge for any golfer, but didn't have time, next time. I would recommend that if you are passing then pop in for lunch you will not be disappointed. Loved it.

The posh ladies room at the posh golf club was filthy but good fortune smiled at me when i found the toilet cleaner and cleaned the toilet before using .
