The best restaurants serving British food in England

Stayed the night here. Absolutely gorgeous food. Chef very highly recommended. The staff were very attentive and room was adequate for what we needed for our overnight stay. Will go back for food especially.

We often visit the Shakespeare for drinks but decided to eat here after work. We sat in the quaint upstairs dining area. The food was superb - Salt & Pepper squid, tasty with a lovely light batter - Duck Hash - the meat was very tender and fell off the bone - Fishcakes - homemade and tasty with a great sized salad. - Seasoned Fries - amazing taste to the seasoning The staff were lovely and friendly with brilliant service. It was the best food we had eaten out for a while. Looking forward to the next time already!

Visited as reviews were good but very overpriced for the portions. We recently moved to the area and were hoping for this to be our regular breakfast spot as it has gluten free options (these turned out to be very limited) The service was a little slow but very friendly so we were hopeful however, when the food arrived it was very small portions for the pricing! Shame as it’s very near to where we live.

The carvery was excellent just like old times with plenty of everything and good service. There were different of us and we did not have to wait would recommend.

My grandaughter and I shared a gentlemans afternoon tea and it was delicious- great value for money- a lovely treat. The staff were lovely. Thank you again.

Halloween party was fab with lots of games and fun for the adults and kids.Meal included at a fair admission fee too. Well done to the hosts.

We stayed for one night meeting friends on the day we arrived. We have stayed before and the food didn't disappoint and the bar was, as usual, friendly and warm.. The owners Lisa and Will and the staff are all so happy and helpful. We went to our room after lunch and it was immaculate and large with a lovely bathroom. Breakfast the next morning was stupendous I couldn't eat it all! As we had had lunch we didn't want a big dinner but our hosts provided us with a gorgeous cheeseboard to take to our room- perfect! prawn starter overcooked outside, cold in middle, sent back, mains just as bad, old fat, not fresh, no idea, never again

Came here alone and couldn’t have asked for better experience chatted to the staff very professional yet relaxed had a good talk with all. Ordered a lasagna and it was really nice especially with the chips. Kid called Layton who was working there was very kind to me and bought my meal out very quickly great service.

Popped in here on our way to the New Forest from Eastbourne it’s a shame that we are not more local as the food and service were fantastic

Absolutely dreadful meal Went for a birthday meal with my family Basic menu, waited 45 minutes for our meal and only one girl on the bar and serving I ordered lasagne that was burnt and dried out and the pasta was like mashed potato, the garlic bread was also burnt and the salad was swimming in dressing My husband ordered steak pie that was full of salt and the vegetables were hard My son and daughter in law ordered the burger which was a cheap tasting burger with cheese and loads of garlic they ended up leaving it The food was served by an harassed kitchen staff and when we looked in the kitchen it looked unclean and chaotic

Staying locally for a couple of days and went on hosts recommendation. Arrived at 6 on a Wednesday evening to find it very busy but we were found a table quickly. Service was very good. Drinks arrived quickly, food followed which was fresh and tasty. Finished with coffee in the garden. We would definitely go back and thoroughly recommend them.

A lovely pub with friendly staff and good food, served swiftly and efficiently. We had been on a long uphill walk to get there, and were very glad to be able to sit at a window table and look at the wonderful view. Will definitely return when we are in the area again. There was a huge log fire in the other room which would be great to sit near on a cold winter day.

The best fish I have ever eaten in my life, waiters, very good food, very good cleanliness, magnificent togolets, everything is perfect, the fish is very nice, everything is very nice.

Lovely flat white coffee ( and toasted tea cake!), friendly staff, Dogs welcome . Convenient for park and beach!Will definitely come again for a coffee!!Thanx!
