Amazing food, the menu has a huge selection & they do a half size dessert if you're too full from the huge meals 😋

We had a fantastic time at The Clovelly Inn. The food was incredible, with huge portions at a very affordable price! The atmosphere was lovely, the staff and locals very friendly and we overall just had a lovely time. There’s a pool table that was pointed out to us which was only 50p a go. 10/10 recommend and will definitely be back if we’re in the area again!

Attended this lovely pub when in the area and found the staff friendly and the food was superb value we couldn't believe the prices around £10 for a main and some meals like burger and chips was just over £5 these prices have long gone where I live. Only reason we marked atmosphere down was it was a cider festival but found it really quite quiet and on paper we expected a bit more atmosphere maybe our expectations need adjustment. We went twice and managed to park both times nearby, took the poochy. There was lots of seating but weirdly all of it was reserved despite being empty they found us a table and it was still empty when we left so bear in mind you may need to book... Enjoyed our few times here would call again.

Very disappointed on this occasion. The steak & kidney pie was just braised beef with a circle of puff pastry laid on top! The duck wasn’t in a sauce and the rib eye steaks were tough and not cooked to our request. Obviously the cook’s off day!

Fabulous food and service, proper pub, definitely recommend this lovely village Inn. A group of 10, all had different meals and everyone loved their food. The menu is huge so there's something for everyone, if you're under 50 years old visit here and see what a proper village pub looks like.

A group of us on motorbikes travel from deep Cornwall on a regular basis,The food has always been top notch and the prices really good, the ale Jail Ale is the best we’ve sampled.

Called in hoping for Sunday lunch but they didn’t do Sunday lunch. We decided to eat anyway. Hosts very welcoming, food was ok. Parking was in parish hall car park about 75 yards up the road.

Lovely food, and very pleasant staff, absolutely would recommend it, advise booking.

We were on a family holiday locally and this was one of the places to eat recommended by our landlady. Not knowing the area and having zero signal for sat nav, we lost our way and arrived an embarrassing 30 minutes late. Despite this, we were met with the warmest of welcomes ! Lovely cosy pub, just what we were hoping for. My son chose a steak which he thoroughly enjoyed, said it was cooked to perfection. My husband wanted the curry with rice, but was torn - because he'd seen the chips delivered to the next table ! But when the order was taken, he was given the options of rice, chips, or 50/50 ! Never seen this before ! He was delighted ! I fancied a Ploughman's and was not disappointed - choices of meat, cheese or a mix, I opted for cheese. It was amazing ! Generous portion, everything you needed and even included a Clovelly Inn homemade chutney in it's own little jar - what a lovely touch ! : x

A quintessential English pub.. Highly recommended..

We met friends for an impromptu lunch and dog walk. The dogs were made to feel very welcome as were we, and when the food came, it was delicious. The homemade steak and kidney pie with homemade mash is highly recommended, and one our party being vegan had plenty of choice. One fly in the ointment was the landlord was not too worried that the first pint drunk was served cloudy as it was towards the end of the barrel. When mentioned to him, the response was, "Oh well, I am off to the cricket."

This is not a dog friendly pub unless you sit outside. I would not class 1 table situated in the entrance when there are rooms on the left and right with plenty of tables on carpet. Dogs are not allowed on the carpet ! Go another 6 miles to the Green Dragon at Northlew for a proper pub with lovely food who like your dog

This is not a dog friendly pub unless you sit outside There is 1 table allocated in the entrance 12ft by 12 max on tiles for you and your dog whilst there are two huge rooms going off with lots of tables but this is carpeted and your dog is not allowed on carpeted areas. Don’t bother calling in carry on another 6 miles to the Green Dragon in Nothlew where Dan will welcome you and your four legged friend and the food is great .

Seven of us family met here for lunch. Most chose off the specials board which has a varied charge selection. Amazing choice of steaks from T bone to rib eye. Our two little schitzus were allowed in the bar area tables . Excellent service and short waiting time from order. Prices are fare I say very reasonable indeed. A lovely clean oldie worldie place but in the middle of nowhere. Be very careful choosing the route you choose. Sone roads are nothing short of cart tracks!. Definitely one for a return

An absolutely fantastic place everything perfect!

9 off us all enjoyed a very good meal with a large choice of dishes, good helpings only 1 got to dessert, will be back again later in month.

Good food and big portions but felt like a second class citizen made to sit in the naughty corner whilst the locals were given the space. Told there was no mash potatoes then some locals came in after us and received mash potatoes! Almost a nice pub but only really here for the locals.

A roaring fire & a big welcome awaits you So good we went twice in 3 days. Wonderful pub with a friendly atmosphere and very accommodating staff. The food is mostly home cooked, very reasonably priced and delicious. I had mushroom, stilton & walnut pie with more vegetables than I could eat. If we were local we’d be regulars.

Very welcoming and friendly barmaid. The food was extremely tasty, with large portions and reasonably priced. We’ve eaten here half a dozen times before and never been disappointed. I’m quite fussy about my wine, but I thoroughly enjoyed the glass I had.

We visited The Clovelly Inn today for sunday lunch, right from the off we were wowed by the whole experience! We were greeted as soon as we entered and shown to our table. The Inn has a roaring wood burner and the decor has a very cozy feel to it. We have three children (11,10 and 6) and there was board games and cards to play with. The real ales available were Jail ale and Doom Bar. The menu was extensive and there were also specials available. The menu is traditional pub fayre, there was something to suit everyone and it was very reasonably priced, most main meals were £10 or less. When the food arrived we were very impressed with the presentation, it was clear that most of the food was made on site and it was delicious. The landlord and staff were all very helpful and friendly and it was really clear to see that they cared for all their customers (including the furry ones). My only complaint is that the Clovelly Inn is not in our village, their hospitality and the overall experience was faultless and we were very impressed. we will definitely return, thank you.

We booked the table just an hour or so before needed as it was on impulse. We were torn by the choice offered on the menu and then there were the specials too. We both went for the moussaka and we weren’t disappointed. Very yummy . I accepted the portion of peas proffered with the meal. Very impressed with the number of desserts on the menu and then there were some in the specials. I had the banana surprise . I forgot to take photo of mains as was so hungry as you can see the empty plate, says it all. Staff were very friendly. Really pleased we came here

It’s a proper pub! I visited with family over the Xmas holiday and we went there 3 times in total. The food is simple but delicious and priced properly. It’s a Devon pub for Christ sake, it’s what it should be. Good beer, good food, wellies at the front door and lovely staff! I work in a 900year old traditional thatched pub in East Devon and is very similar, but I would say this place is even more English pub than the one I work in. The bar lady who was working on Boxing Day lunchtime was lovely (we are the ones that came with the spaniel if you remember) and responding from the negative review below. If you don’t have anything nice to say to don’t say anything at all. Like you said, you not from around here.. maybe you just don’t understand the way a proper pub should be. I personally didn’t eat, but my dad and brother did and they said food was great! It’s a shame that people can be so rude these days, just because they don’t understand something. If a mistake was made then let it get fixed instead of just sitting there in spite waiting to get online to be a keyboard warrior. If there’s a problem, talk to the staff that’s what they are there for. Keep doing what you’re doing! It’s beautiful Pub

We to were a family on holiday over the Christmas period, we visited, three times in total, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing, my son and I had a meal on Christmas Eve, which was simple but actually very good, and great value, The staff on all three days were friendly and chatty, We were even given a free drink on Christmas morning which I wasn’t expecting but very graciously received. You are obviously a very traditional, locals pub, simple but good, and in my opinion there are to few left. Please keep up the good work 👋

Super welcoming, very dog friendly, they were given treats, water, toys available. Staff were wonderful. Food was delicious and very affordable. Highly recommend! Would advise to pre-book a table if you are going to eat.

This is a cosy family run pub, proper local business with a welcoming fire. The pub is the heart of the village and the community, supporting any and all local events. We use this pub 2/3 times a week and you are always welcome with good food and drink. The staff are always very helpful and friendly even when busy. If you are looking for good food and value for money then this is the place to eat. In these times of local pubs being shut, it is lovely to see a pub so well supported and used.

Ate at this delightful village pub for my husband’s birthday last week. In a time of the digital age, it was refreshing to find a ‘old fashion’ country pub where the entertainment is conversation. They serve excellent pub food and is at a reasonable cost, a win win situation. If you love country pubs where little has changed then this is a must, if you want to change rural life and its ways, don’t bother visiting.

Once again we had a cracking meal in this friendly family run pub; our village pub. Apart from the wonderful generous pub grub; it always has a lovely ambience. People from all sorts of backgrounds rub along famously in such a convivial atmosphere. Therefore I am quite astonished at the post from “Marie” that described a place no one recognises!. I wonder whether she has posted to the wrong Clovelly? As that often happens. It is true that the local hunt met at the pub recently; but there was no trouble whatsoever apart from a few noisy masked anti saboteurs. She must be referring to somewhere else, as the hunt left well before pub opening time and there was no car parking! In any event; I thoroughly recommend this place; which is very well known locally for its being the heart of the village and providing good old fashioned pub grub in a very convivial welcoming setting.

This was a return visit this pub after 2 years. Am pleased to say that this pub is as good now as it was then. The menu of meals on offer is extensive, the meals were well cooked and delivered promptly by the friendly staff....

I can't recommend this pub enough. Whenever we travel to Cornwall we always call in for lunch. Not that far off the A30, but some narrow roads. Decent beer, but exceptional value food. Also friendly staff.

Abolutely fantastic, we were introduced to the Clovelly Inn by a family member and we are so glad we were, this is a lovely pub with serveral seating areas and a games room with a pool table and dart board. There is an excellent selection of drinks and the food is well prepared and the portions will not leave you wanting more, I highly recommend that you save space for desert as you are spoiled with the homemade delights on offer. My personal favourites are the profiteroles and the Chocolate brownie sundae!

Went on Sunday for a roast to be told, they don't do roast lunch. Had rib eye steak instead but was very disappointed , we had been before and it was terrible so we thought, give them another chance but wished we hadn't, will not go back again.

As usual when we holiday in Devon each year we visit The Clovelly Inn it was great as usual. Very helpful staff and very accommodating. Fodd is good English food. We will be back again next year. We visited twice this year.

A lovely pub with an interesting and beautiful aesthetic both externally and internally. The staff were attentive and confident with Sophie providing a charming service despite being a staff member down and Amy producing some delicious pub grub at a very reasonable price.
