Fantastic food with generous portions and reasonable price. Service from the staff was excellent very polite and professional. My recommendation would be the hunter chicken. Has to be one of the best in the Vale!

Bar staff were great but the food was shocking fat filled frozen chips low quality meat and if youve got a complaint best of luck whoever is dealing with them will cross examin you and the place ain't good value either left me with a bad taste in my mouth literally it was a fair distance from us and I wish I'd seen a true review before we came low quality run down place

Amazing service, busy but very organised. Beautiful food. Staff are fantastic too. Very well recommended. We have also been for a Sundaylunch and it was delicious. Many thanks.

Outstanding meal We visited The Highway man Inn for the second time at the beginning of August 24 I have to say the staff are very inviting and accommodating as on both visits we did not book ahead. The meals each time were served promptly. The food is of a high standard. Freshly cooked and garnished with a beautiful salad. The portions given are large and well presented I would say so the meal fills your eyes as well as the belly😂. We will be visiting soon. I’ve heard the Sunday lunch is spectacular too.

Loved every minute of being here! The food was amazing and portion sizes are epic! 10/10 would recommend. If I didn't live 3 hours away I would be here a lot.

Booked a table to call in after my Holiday in Spain . Very busy but well the wait for service they were short staffed but they coped well they explained to me the reason for a delay .No problem from the lady behind the bar the young lad who organised my table to the young lady on table service . Excellent this place is a gem I only wish I lived closer .The meals were outstanding 1 sirloin steak 1 Gammon Thanks all well done again❤️

This place is a must to visit in the area and cannot recommend it enough. It’s well off the beaten track round the back of Cardiff Airport and a booking is a must as it gets booked up very quick. We visited a lunch time and an evening and everything was spot on. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff are totally friendly. The mixed grill and mixed grill burger are truly out of this world

Not visited here for years. Gave it a try with family who visit often. It’s Very busy and seems a popular restaurant. I can see why . The Food was lovely and great portion sizes. Services was excellent. A young lady called Grace was our waitress . She was polite, helpful and put up with my elderly Dad with a smile. We will definitely visit again very soon I hope. So much on the menu I fancy trying

Tried to book a table for 10 people and they said they needed a deposit. After checking her diary to make sure it was possible I tried to pay the deposit they wanted but she told me to call back after 4pm as she was too busy. Well we’ve made it easier for you and booked elsewhere now!

I absolutely love this pub, it’s like no other, the food is OUTSTANDING, it’s like top restaurant food, amazing. Also do OAP value meals, just that they are lowered in price, but exactly the same food. Can’t rate this pub highly enough. Also do airport parking, drop off car, and take you and pick you up from the airport, brilliant service !!

We ordered the beef Sunday lunch and found that the quality of not only the food, atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff was excellent. We would certainly recommend the Highwayman is worth a visit.

Visited with family as they had visited previously and recommended it.However, they clearly do not have enough staff. We waited at least 20 minutes after being seated to have our order taken. The food then took forever, they didn’t come and take our plates for a long time after finishing. We weren’t asked if we wanted desserts, the kids had free desserts included and these didn’t turn up. In the end we just found someone and asked for the bill rather than having to chase staff.Don’t get me wrong, the staff were very friendly, however, they were understaffed which was clear and they couldn’t cope with the number of tables. Poor management!The food was nice and I’d of rated it highly if it hadn’t of been for the slow service.

4th time eating here, i had cod and chips, best fish i have ever eaten, batter so crispy and fish so good, chips were amazing and sue behind the bar was amazing x defo be back but will book, as it gets really busy

Firstly it's probably a bit harsh of me to give it 3 not 4 stars but it's in that pretty good, not very good category. The found is good pub grub , with a theme of large portions, especially meat. It's probably too much on a plate and leaves you feeling uncomfortably full ,even when you order what you think will be a fairly modest sized meal. Steaks seem to come out cooked to customer preference and mine was perfectly medium rare as requested.And for the amount of food you get a definitely value for money. If you like very large plates if food , or fancy yourself as man v food , this place is for you. Reasonable pub grub at reasonable prices.

A lovely meal here 9 December. Big portions so we skipped the starters, we all had steaks which were perfectly cooked to our tastes. Not to long a wait so very happy with the visit we had here.

Friday 20 December 4 us went for meal the meals were good two of us the green Thai curry half & half. Bit disappointed with meal not much taste and very few chips. The other thing that annoyed me as was the driver my drink orange squash with water. They charged for the water £1.60 & 60p for a dash & wasn't even a pint. Needless to say if we every go again I want be drinking as I'm always the driver.

We used the Highwayman to park our car for 2 weeks while on holiday, so decided to have a meal before we went to the airport. We must say the food we had was delicious and plenty of it which made it really easy decision on our return to have food again when we picked up our car.

Lovely food but portions were way too big. Couldn't eat all the meal. Service was good and friendly. Carpet could do with replacing.

We visited the restaurant with my father in law who is 92 for lunch. The food was of good quality and the service was good. We ordered off the lunch menu for over 60's and were surprised to find that the bill came to £49.45. As we were in a hurry we did not question the bill at that time. Later that afternoon i checked the bill and both myself (71 years old ) and my father in law had been charged full price for our meals. I gues we must look a lot younger than we are !!! S0 DONT DO AS WE DID CHECK YOUR ORDER AND YOUR BILL. My partner who is 4 years younger than me had the over 60's charged to the bill.

Superb food, friendly service. Will definitely be back. Three of us visited and all agreed best food around this area.

The food here is good and massive portions sizes. However food is very slow that’s the only issue with this place I have been here 3 times now and there is always a long wait for your food to arrive.

Visited Nov 2019 for 50th Birthday. Great place, good food at a reasonable price with good portions. Staff very helpful and despite 18 orders the food arrived hot and well prepared all at the same time. A bit out of the way to find but a very nice venue will probably visit again soon.

Went to the highwayman on Sunday before my birthday with my son and daughter and her boyfriend. They had run out of Sunday dinners so we had beef burger and chips. The burgers were huge and we had a chicken fillet and gammon on top. We took some of it home as we could not eat it

A meal for 7 of us, absolutely gorgeous, I had steak kebab and it was stunning, cooked to perfection. My daughter had the scampi which she said was beautiful, my son a T-bone steak he practically licked the plate clean, my other daughter had the chicken escalope which was huge , everyone enjoyed their meal too full to sample the deserts this time . The staff are fab at this lovely place, it never disappoints, worth every penny.

Four of us had the over 60s lunch menu which was very generous and very tasty. The vegetable curry was delicious as was the gammon plus faggots and pease. The apple and blackberry crumble with custard went down well as well. The service was good when we arrived and we didn't wait long for our drinks but twice we had to call the waitress after lunch, firstly to ask for the dessert menu. We did think we had been forgotten but it did eventually turn up. Only seemed to be two waitresses plus one to clear the tables. What is very good about the Highwayman is that it is completely accessible.

Lovely restaurant with a good selection of food. I had the lasagne , while it was excellent quality beef , it was not a lasagne as i know it. There was no tomato ragu and it contained red peppers. It was tasty but somewhat unusual. The chips were delicious and the other people I dined with all enjoyed their meals. The portions are generous so no-one had room for desert. Its a lovely restaurant and I would definitely return to try the other dishes

The standards seem to have dropped in recent times. There never seems to be enough staff to cope with the amount of customers particularly at busy times.

My wife and I had yet another Fabulous Meal at The HighwayMan. Their Lasagne is out of this World according to my wife & honestly where else can you get a Tasty, Succulent Beef Fillet Kebab 11/10 to the the Kitchen - Well Done Chefs

Have had some lovely meals at the highwayman over the year,s this one tonight was very poor did say to waitress it wasn't that good she did apologize.

Managed to reserve a table the day before. Lovely greeting on arrival of the staff on that particular shift. Ordered Steak Kebab & the T-Bone, both of which were cooked to our preference and were of the highest quality in terms of meat & flavour. You definitely get what you pay for here. Portions are massive but we knew this so arrived hungry. Highly recommended as it never fails. Thank you Highwaymann see you soon x

We popped in on a Monday lunch time, always rave about this place so bring 2 newbies was risky. Within minutes I was relaxed and looking forward to a great meal.

We took our granddaughter out for meal. We were given a warm welcome by the staff. The meals we ordered were served piping hot. The quality and quantity were excellent. The service was very good and the atmosphere was pleasant. I would certainly recommended the venue. It is advisable to book in advance as it gets busy. I will certainly be returning.

1st visit, wow really big meals if you want to fill up for a few days. Great food with a large menu to choose from, good variety of meals available, with a good choice of drinks. Looking forward to going again.

Visited this place for a birthday meal after many recommendations from a lot of people. It really didn't disappoint. A gorgeous pub with a thriving atmosphere inside. The food was to die for and everything was perfect, the portions are absolutely huge. Thanks!

Word of advice, Don't bother eating here unless you are hungry, and I mean HUNGRY! The quality of the food is excelent, but the portions are enormous, I had the Cod &chips;, the other three had the Steak. No room left for a dessert. The Fish and the steaks were big. Lovely place to eat, fantastic service, and very freindly staff. Highly recommended. After having that mael on that night we booked to have Sunday lunch a few weeks later. (Review to follow)

Went here with my family on the way to airport really nice food good service . but drinks quite expensive

This is the third time we've eaten here while staying at the holiday Inn express Cardiff airport. It's just a short, inexpensive taxi ride away and the choice of food is so much better than what's available at the Holiday Inn.

Recently used the airport parking service for nearby Cardiff Airport. Excellent, prompt service. Dropped us off at airport straight away. Waiting for us on arrival for journey home. Would recommend.

We ate here on a busy bank holiday weekend, the staff were amazing and extremely accommodating, as I needed to change the time of the booking so my son could watch the football . The food was the best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time!!

Once again a wonderful Sunday lunch ... Very accommodating for 6 year old son ... a good selection of veg , Cali cheese , broccoli , peas and oven roasted carrots. A huge potion of roast meat , chicken , pork , lamb or beef ... parsnip , Yorkshire puddings , roast and new pots ... and stuffing .. we will be back ... again ...

Absolutely lovely family meal on a busy Friday evening, booking is recommended as people where turned away as busy and full . The staff were very friendly and helpful despite their busy workload , drinks brought promptly and orders taken without any pressure or fuss . All the meals turned up at once and were stunning , a good varied selection of dishes and the portions are huge , you will not leave hungry at all . So if you haven’t visited do so and it’s only 5 mins from the airport so a pre getaway meal is a must .

Great service in this restaurant. Food was amazing and plenty of it, too. We had 2 burgers and a hot dog between us, came really quickly.

I ordered the spaghetti Bolognese which was served with garlic bread and I also had a side salad.thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Dennis and Dave had Scampi and chips which they enjoyed. Paula had the chicken tikka half and half and she also enjoyed her meal. We have been to the Highwayman before and they did not let us down with good tasty meals

Came here it’s my family and it did not disappoint. The food is outstanding, and really great portion sizes. A little bit pricey but don’t mind paying when the food is this good.

Great steak, cooked to perfection, came with salad, chips and onion rings as standard! Chips were proper potatoes not frozen! Very fast service. Definitely worth a revisit!

Called with friends after booking a table the previous day. Booking highly recommended. Met by friendly staff and table was waiting. Drinks came very quickly after ordering. Food order taken and when it arrived it was brilliant. Large portions, well presented and really tasty. A nice rest before trying the sweet menu.

My friend and I have been looking for a decent steak WOW The Highwayman didn't disappoint. Homemade onion rings, huge steak, chips etc. Well worth paying a little extra for great food and staff!

my wife and i visited the highwayman fo r ,dinner .The menu was extensive and after some pondering, we went for the curry and the pulled pork burger.The meals came and the first observation was the amount of food on the plates.It was obvious the meals were going to beat us.My wife was pleased with the curry and enjoyed it, my meal however gave me mixed views. The pulled pork was good but when i got down to the burger it was slightly under done to my taste.i never said anything as the pulled pork and extras was sufficient without the burger.

A little bit out in the sticks to find but Oh so worth it. A group of my friends had lunch at The Highwayman the other day and I can honestly say it was superb. All eight of us enjoyed our freshly cooked meals. Non of your generic pub grub.

Well what can I say this place is amazing. Lush food great staff. Perfect end to a holiday just what you need when you've been flying. Pop in you wont be disappointed.

A fantastic service and a must use if flying from Cardiff. The service was excellent. A transfer bus to the airport was always readily available wether it was just yourselves waiting or a group.

A small country pub with a great atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful staff. I had the chicken, chorizo and spinach pasta which tasted beautiful but the creamy sauce was a little overwhelming. My wife and her parents thoroughly enjoyed their meals and said it was the best pub food they had had in a very long time. We went on a Monday evening and was lucky to get a table, I would recommend reserving a table to avoid disappointment. I will definitely go back here!

100% can not fault this service , airport transfer from fully service secure compound, speedy transport to Cardiff Rhoose international airport , Wales Major Hub Airport.

My friends and I visited the highwayman on 28/06 for food before our night out and weren’t disappointed. The portions were enormous and tasty. I chose the sirloin and the flavour and texture was excellent. The food came with a large potion of chips, onion rings and salad.

There was a bit of a muddle when we initially arrived as they didn't seem to have the booking (which had been made by someone else), but the staff were great and did some re-jigging to sort a table for us with minimum fuss. It was really busy at the time so they could have just said they didn't have the booking, so the extra bit of effort on their part was appreciated.

Its a nice little place but was a bit dissapointed with service. Booked a table in advance and when we got there the table wasnt even ready so had to wait 20 minutes. Roast dinner wasnt that bad but had better elsewhere.

Visited with friends just for a drink but then when we saw the food ended up eating here!

We recently used the parking facility at the Highwayman. We found this an excellent way to park and be dropped of right on the front of the airport really close to the departures entrance. When we returned the bus was already there with the car keys for each of the customers on our flight and then we were dropped off next to our car which had been brought forward from the main carpark. We had previously had to change our departure and arrival times after a change of flight time by our tour operator but this was accommodated to our flight number and was therefore very easy

This used to be our local, until we moved away from the area, the food the was good old pub grub cooked really well and tasty.

This is a great place with great food. The food is amazing and the portion size is really great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable. Would recommend to others.

Amazing food and great staff. We visited as my husband didn't want a traditional sunday lunch. Although not cheap, the portions were huge! None of us managed to finish our food, even my son who has a large appetite. This was no reflection on the quality of the food, just the quantity. Would definitely visit again. Also our thanks to the guy in the secure carpark next door who showed us where to go to see the aeroplanes landing and taking off at the airport. A lovely afternoon out.

Arrived on a Monday lunchtime around 12.30pm. We were looking for a table only to be shouted at by a somewhat loud/rude bar person asking us if we had booked (bearing in mind the place was a quarter empty at the time). No I say, shoud I have? Only we get really busy came the reply from the loud blonde lady behind the bar, there is a table for 2 by door. I dont want to sit there I replied, so she tutted and huffed and eventually a waitress came and took us to a different table. We gave our order to the waitress and I ordered a pot of tea only to be served by a cup of hot/tepid water with a teabag floating in it with 2 sachets of long life milk. I asked for a pot of tea I said to the miserable blonde lady, she said well my computer just says tea, then why is is on the menu is asked? She just flounced off. Our food came not the best I have tasted hard boiled potatoes and dry. Went to the bar for a drink a pint of bitter and a bottle of diet coke nearly £7!!! The miserable blonde woman just gave me the bottle and I had to ask for a glass with some ice. This blonde miserable employee is in the wrong job, she does not look as if she is enjoying it, well dont do it then, as you have zero personality and customer service.

I don't usually review restaurants, but on this occasion I feel that I can make an exception. I'm not going to write a long review this time out of the blocks, but just want to say that this is our go to place for a top end steak.

We've been here lots of times and have never had a bad experience. The staff are lovely and the food is to die for! Would highly recommend it to everyone

7 of us decided to have a meal here, service was excellent and served with a smile, food was excellent, as was portions, as normal. We are not regular visitors but if me fancy a good heartfull meal, we always visit highwayman Lee Caerphilly

We had a meal here today before we dropped our car off in the parking facility they also offer. We received a very warm welcome and we were shown to our table and had drinks served. The food is extremely good value for money and the portions are large. I’d highly recommend eating here before you fly because the food in the airport isn’t in the same league and the prices are ridiculous for what you get. We will definitely return to the highway man and we won’t be waiting until we go on our next holiday to do so.

As it’s near the end of a cul-de-sac, it’s unlikely that you would be visiting the Highwayman Bar & Grillhouse unless you knew about it beforehand. There’s an outdoor seating area if the weather’s nice and folks are generally very friendly in this part of the country, so it’s quite likely that someone will start up a conversation with you.

My first visit here in many years and not disappointed. Two of us turned up on early on a busy evening without a booking, but the helpful staff found us a table. Food was excellent with very generous portions.

Popped into the highwayman when house hunting in Rhoose, last time I visited was 10 years ago. The decor has changed a little to accommodate airport parking, that said the greeting by the staff was great we were shown to a table quickly and drinks arrived. The menu is Traditional pub food BUT!! the size of the meals is enormous I went for a T-bone and this was accompanied by all the trimmings, family had similar meals all for a reasonable price. This place is a little gem in the Vale of Glamorgan, staff are fab and ready to help I would diffidently make this a local when I move to Rhoose, next time I am going for Sunday Lunch but recommend booking ahead.

Visiting family who recommended this place. So pleased they did!! Was packed when we arrived and stayed that way all night (a good sign). The food was stunning. I had the chicken kebab which was huge but perfectly cooked and seasoned. The homemade chips accompanying were beautifully light and crispy. Excellent value for money. Everyone loved there food and the service from all the staff was brilliant. Cannot wait to go again

There was a party of seven for my husband's birthday we all enjoyed our meals.my husband had the mixed grill which was very big, ideal for sharing if you don't have a big appetite

My Wife Daughter & I met our Grand Daughter & her partner Ashley at this Inn last Wednesday evening as we hod not seen them for ages ,and also we had not been there for about 3 years we did not know what to expect but we were pleased. .

Recently been renovated food menu extremely good meal portion's are huge,a little bit pricey but value for money you have got it. Drink prices are reasonable And good choices. Always busy

My wife and I had a lovely meal here last week.

The food was amazing as usual but the staff were scarce we were in the pub over 2 hours and staff came to the table twice once to bring food then to remove plates we really felt ignored well they tended to other people asking if they were ok and wanted drinks they never asked us once terrible service we wanted another drink but just payed bill and left normally we leave a tip but not a chance really really disappointed

Visited here on Sat 30th March and this place did not disappoint. (The food was to die for) I had whitebait to start and it was absolutely massive and more importantly fresh!!! For mains the 4 of us tucked into fillet steak kebabs and OMG. You get 5 chunks of meat on a skewer, with onion and pepper and covered in garlic (basically you are eating 2 1/2 fillet steaks) its the nicest food I have ever eaten. I cannot recommend this place enough. Please everyone go there and eat NOW

We had booked and were seated and the drinks brought quickly. After that we waited for about 15 minutes before the couple who came in after us had their order taken. We then asked if ours could be taken and were told that they had overlooked us as they were busy. The food came and it was good, large portions if you like that. Unfortunately after we had finished we waited for about another 20 minutes but nobody came to ask if we wanted anymore drinks or a dessert so we went to the bar to ask for our bill. Won't be rushing back.

Well worth finding it through country lanes. Typical eating place. Menu varied to suit every body .pensioners special menu great at £6.99 . The vegetable curry was the nicest ever! My partners fish and chips were also excellent. Abscence of mine/host noticeable. .

This place has a fantastic reputation so is always busy and generally fully booked on lunch and dinner times. The Fishcakes are so good I’ve had them 3 times now it’s my go to meal! The portion sizes are huge but the price is great as you’ll pay the same elsewhere for less! There are pensioners deals Too so my Mum is happy to join me :) not much room for manoeuvre with pushchairs or prom so if your taking a baby only take a car seat in. Sometimes I think the music can be a little loud for me but the people who work there are so friendly and helpful they are accommodating and turn it down if requested. This is a great place for a date, for Family Dinner and a group lunch, there’s a park outside for kids to play too and is very close to the airport. It also backs onto the Highwayman Airport Parking so if your using that stop here for food!

Sadly should have kept waiting. We have not been here for many years , when we found out it was still open we had to revisit.

We met up to celebrate a friends birthday. After being seated the waitress came and took our drinks order. After our drinks had been served she took our food order. I can recommend the carbonara pasta with garlic bread. It was creamy and very tasty. I also ordered a side salad that contained lettuce cucumber peppers, tomatoes onions and coleslaw. we also ordered 2 scampi and chips, steak and ale pie, 2 taglatelli bologneses.3 lasagna with chips and garlic bread and one pork loin chop with chips. Everybody enjoyed their meals which came out piping hot and within good time. The majority of the plates went back empty after the meal and only two of our party failed to eat all the food because they were too full. only 5 of the party had been before and everybody said they would be coming back. Although the pub was busy our order was taken and served quickly. Well done to all the staff.

Very nice surroundings and lovely friendly staff. Food very good and plentiful. Tea could have been hotter but over all a great experience. Would recommend.

Firstly noticed a dirty fork, no apology when i asked for a clean one. Had to wait over 1,1/2 hour for meal because a few of my family members had a starter. I had 8oz steak and loads of chunky chip's which added to the size of the meal. Personally for me it was ok, nothing special for the price and not worth the 20mile round trip.
