Delicious afternoon tea at a very good price. Lots of food for 3 people, finger sandwiches, waffles, warm scone with jam and cream and a variety of small cakes. Highly recommend

I was treated to a cream tea, for my early retirement. There were 3 of us, who had the tea. Must say, it was absolutely delicious, loads of food/sandwiches were gorgeous, warm scones with a small pot of jam, and clotted cream , berries, a macaroon each, 2 slices of cake each, sliced, warm waffles, scrumptious, especially with the toffee sauce. My friends had a pot of tea each and I had a cold drink. I was really looking forward to this treat, and it didn't disappoint. The shop is clean, and nicely decorated, and the staff very friendly, and accommodating. Loads of food on the menu, you are really spoilt for choice. Will definitely recommend to family and friends. I went with my partner, his friend and his daughter. There were amazing vegan options for me, a children’s menu and loads of interesting combinations with substantial portion sizes making it excellent value for money (less than £10 for a full meal) and a most satisfying lunch! I would recommend Crepe Escape to anyone in the area!

Just popped in with my daughter for a summer holiday treat. We both had the strawberry and Nutella waffle. V nice food, v accommodating staff. The place was clean, welcoming and the food lovely. I would definitely visit again.

My daughters treated me to afternoon tea for my birthday. The food was lovely, a large spread, and my granddaughters had the children’s afternoon tea on their own serving table. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Everything was efficient, and the food was delicious. A memory to treasure.

I popped in Sunday afternoon on the sunday just gone (22nd May 2022) around 12:30. I stood were it recommeneded to stand to wait for service and I was waiting a few minutes, which was no big deal as I was looking at the menu on the wall on my left. There was no customers there, which is normal sometimes. Two young girls walked out, with one carrying food that she placed on a table infront of me with other food and then the other stood behind the counter. I said in a friendly manner 'I thought you may be closed' she said smiled condescendingly 'I'm making food for an event' turned around and walked back into the kitchen. The girl behind the bar (with a face like thunder) then followed her, walked straight past me without saying a word! with me still standing there! (if the cafe was closed, couldnt they say that in a nice manner!?) I then walked out and went to a different cafe where my friends met me for food and drinks.

As the Crepe Escape in Mermaid Quay has closed down, we thought we'd venture out to the one in Penarth. The cafe is nice and bright and it was a lovely treat having crepes for breakfast. The customer service was also good.

Visited here for breakfast with a friend. I chose a bacon and egg bagel and a cinnamon cappuccino. Cappuccino made just how it should be, not three quarters a cup of foam. The bagel was lovely, properly cooked scrambled eggs not microwave sponge eggs. Staff always friendly and proper home cooked, tasty food. Definitely would recommend.

Love, love, love this place!Me and my boyfriend come in pretty much every monday when its quiet, sometimes on a weekend too but best to book a table as it gets busy. The girl on the till is always really friendly and recommends the best stuff on the menu. We have something different every time and have never been disappointed. We had freakshakes this time which were lush. I always forget to leave a review but it is definitely my favourite place, still got to try the cakes which look amazing and all home made, yum

I take my niece and nephew to the crepe escape all the time! They love it here as do I. The food is always fab as is the service by all of the staff especially Kath My nephew loves the great selection of toys in the kids area and my niece loves the freak shakes. 10/10 would highly recommend any families/friends wishing to come here for a great dessert Fave place in Penarth!

Regardless of how quiet it is it seems to take forever to get a simple crepe out, even with 3 staff hanging around with no one else to serve. The kids are always disappointed with the toys in the kids corner- from a distance it looks promising but behind the kitchen doors the cupboards are bare and the toy boxes empty other than a couple of toys which have long lost the parts and other toys needed to go with them. No toys would be better than the false promise currently offered.

Visited Sunday despite being under staff due to no chef. The food quality was still second to none. We were told about the delay when we got in, so we had a choice to stay or go. Let me tell you this was the easiest decision I have ever made (and I have said “I do”). I would have waited hours/days to have an Apple crumble waffle!!!! It would have still been worth it. There is a little play area, so my kids didn’t mind waiting either. Pretty sure I have tried almost every thing on the desert Menu ( still cant bring myself to have a savoury crepe) and there is nothing I can find a fault with. Something so simple as making the batter fresh is why we keep coming back. They taste so much better than other places who use packet mix!!

I always have a lovely meal here, the crepes never disappoint and neither does the service- despite the cafe being short staffed the weekend just gone, everyone still worked with a smile on their face and did everything they could- the manageress served us and was more than we could've asked for, always making sure we were happy. I usually have the apple crumble crepe, so had it again on the weekend that was LUSH and even better than usual..they have started to make it with crumble rather than biscuits - KEEP THE CRUMBLE! :)

I came in on Saturday with a friend and hadn't been here before. We were told there was a wait on food but we decided to stay anyway. I wanted a tea but didn't know the options but the manager was friendly and recommended a few. I also had a Nutella strawberry crepe which was amazing. The girl who served me was smiley and apologetic for the wait which wasn't even as long as we were told. I would definitely recommend this place, great service and there is so much on the menu I'll definitely be back to try something new

5 of us went there just before lunch time on a Sunday. Had to squeeze into our table cause the placement of the table, so be prepared to breathe in while you eat if it's busy. Had to wait an hour for our food. People were coming in and being notified there was an hour wait however only after we had ordered our food. One of our friends runs her own tearoom and stated that the food shouldn't of taken as long as it as it did as she serves similar foods. The staff didn't apologise for the wait and when the food was finally delivered and had poor attitude. Personally I would go somewhere else.

Another excellent experience at the crepe escape. I was recommended the hot chocolate by one of the staff which came with lashings of whipped cream and marshmallows and was absolutely delicious! I’ve eaten here many times and the food has never disappointed. The sweet waffles are my absolute favourite smothered in Nutella with gelato on the side.Ive been here for organised events too and the staff were accommodating and service was fast despite it being busy

Visited here for a quick lunch. My daughter was on her lunch break so we had to clock watch. The owner stood talking to a group of customers whilst we waited - and waited. Looked like there had been a kids party. Whilst I applaud cafes being child friendly, children shouldn’t be allowed to run up and down as it’s a safety risk especially carrying hot drinks. And only toddlers can reach that ear bleeding screech which makes your brain rattle - that should be banned. I had the avocado with pico de gallo so much onion I had indigestion. Food was slow and came out in bits. Disappointing experience.

I recently held my daughters christening at the Crepe Escape and it was fantastic! We all had a wonderful time with wonderful food and great service. The Crepe Escape took care of all our needs- food, drink and even our christening cake.

We love having breakfast out and I nearly always have scrambled eggs. In many places they do them in the microwave and they are not good. The scrambled eggs here were fabulous- properly pan cooked and soft and creamy. Delicious. Coffee was good too. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you.

Came for breakfast and service was awful. The place was less than half full. We sat down and had to clear the table of dirty plates ourselves. The whole place was covered in dirty dishes. Ordered some paninis. Took half an hour to get order of 2 cappuccinos, a orange juice and a can of lemonade. The coffees weren’t right when finally delivered. We all have ended up eating separately because when food came out it was wrong. They brought out one of the meals which was meant to be a panini and they had just made a baguette. That went back to the kitchen and was put under a sandwich press for a few minutes. 50 minutes later I still haven’t had my panini... I have asked for my money back as when I asked again where my panini was all I had was a blank stare from the server and “oh it’ll be 5 minutes”.

We came here for a quick bite and a drink before we go out for the afternoon. It’s anything but that!

Visited yesterday for lunch with mum and daughter. All thoroughly enjoyed our sweet and savoury Crepes and the waffle was a lot bigger than expected! The service was excellent considering they were busy during lunch time.

Booked for a birthday treat for our youngest. Unicorn afternoon tea, which was absolutely fantastic! Her face was a picture when it was brought out! A big sugar rush, but she was in heaven! The staff were brilliant, and nothing was too much trouble!! We were able to take what we couldn’t eat home with us in nice recyclable containers too!! We will defiantly be back to try the crepes and waffles as they looked amazing!!

I went to this cafe and had the Toffee Apple Crepe. It was by far one of if not the best crepe I've ever had and it was cheap for the amount you get. Also on top of all this the Staff were awesome, the girl who brought my food over to me (I'm sure she was the manager) couldn't be happier to cater to any request and she was constantly smiling (which is always nice). In short 10/10 and will be going back.

Had a lovely afternoon tea for a friends baby shower yesterday. Staff were extremely friendly and we were very impressed to see they had decorated the table for us.

Zero atmosphere, my arm was sprayed when the waitress cleaned the table. Coffee was served with heavy coating chocolate on side cup, the 'crepes' were not freshly cooked as cold and left a bad taste in your mouth.

14 of us were here last weekend for tea. The service was friendly and very good and the food was brilliant. There was far more than we could eat and it was all delicious. The tables were arranged well so that we could all talk to each other and the atmosphere was lovely. Enjoyed by all.

Sunday, quiet, sunny.. fancying some eggs?

My fiancé took me for lunch for my birthday,she brought me to the crepe escape and I was extremely surprised! Excellent welcome from Charyssa (think that’s how it’s spelt ) and the team ,second surprise it wasn’t just lunch but the greatest afternoon tea I’ve ever experienced! Packed full of sandwiches ,crepes ,waffles and cakes galore!!! Even one with a cheeky candle in :) ....it doesn’t end there though! I was given the most amazing boozy baileys milk shake (got me quite tipsy )then the chef (Iezzy I think her name was) came and chatted to us and recommended a few nice spots to visit on our travels to penarth stuffed now as the afternoon tea was enough to feed four! Off for a nap and dream of my next visit to penarth

I haven't been in a while as I work in the week now in Cardiff, went with some of my friends which includes 2 pre walkers and 5 walking toddlers. We had the best time Peter knows what he is doing and even if they do make a mistake they fix it quick as they can with a huge smile. We all had a variety of food (doorstop toast, sweet American pancakes, savory crepes, bagels plus an assortment of children's pancakes.) All of us were extremely happy with the food the service and the little extra things the staff do to make it truly a family friendly environment.

A very child-friendly cafe in Penarth, who are very welcoming to those with plenty of pushchairs in a group! I find the savoury crepes to often be quite average - slightly dry fillings etc. Sweet crepes are very indulgent but delicious! The reason I don't go here more often is how hot it can get - in the winter this may be a blessing, but through the summer it was often roasting hot as if heating was being pumped out.

Been once or twice, not too busy and the price not too high. service doesnt take too long but it is worth the wait.

Another great tasty crepe today can't beat them they are always delicious full of fruit and flavour,going to try a savoury one next time.

Popped in here for lunch today having driven past and noticing it for the first time. They have a huge choice of sweet and savoury crepes. I really enjoyed mine and thought it was fairly priced. They have an area at the back with sofas and toys. Staff were really friendly.

Came on spec, no reservation but hungry! Agree with an earlier reviewer - 'shabby chic' in appearance but don't be put off, the food is good. Loads of choices of fillings in either a crepe or galette wrap all nicely presented on the plate. Service good and friendly. Prices OK.....just..... up to £6.95 for about 1/2 of the choices of filling with a galette wrap an extra 50p. All our party were pleased with their menu choices.

For a cafe with poor decor prices are much too high so we can not recommend this to you.

Although quite expensive for snacks, they do amazing sizes of crepes that contain a good amount of the filling ordered. The milkshakes were excellent and very filling. Service was very fast and waiters were very friendly and kind. Would definitely recommend this cafe.

Large cafe which has won an award recently and offers a big range of crepes as well as ice creams and coffees. It was very warm day which may explain why staff weren’t that enthusiastic but the food was good and the venue fun. I noticed it caters for little ones well too.

I visited here on the weekend without booking a table but the staff were great and cleared a table for us straight away. I chose an Oreo freakshake and a white chocolate and raspberry waffle which came really quickly and tasted amazing. My friend chose a Willy Wonka freakshake that was huge and came with a massive lollipop and a cheese and ham crepe which was so good! The staff were really friendly and everything came at the same time. I would definitely recommend coming here, the food was amazing and the freakshakes were so worth the money I was stuffed. We regularly go to the Crepe Escape at both Penarth and Cardiff Bay and we absolutely love it there. We’ve been going for a few years now and have always had a great experience, with delicious food and really good customer service. We recently held a hen party at the Cardiff Bay cafe when we had afternoon tea. It was perfect! I would highly recommend this cafe! It’s certainly one of our favourites!

After a long anticipated visit, our daughter had been so excited to go.. we decided to wait until she had a play date with friends to make our first visit...

I called in here as I saw in the press that the cafe had won an award for providing the best desserts. I just wanted a crepe and a coffee, and went for the basic lemon and sugar crepe. The coffee was fine, and hot. But the crepe arrived in about 10 seconds (suggesting it was pre-cooked) and was very dry. There was the smallest sliver of lemon supplied to supplement the lemon that was already on the crepe, but it was so small that it didn't contain any juice. I could have asked for another piece of lemon but wasn't sure why it had not been supplied in the first place.

I've been going to this place for a couple of years and have always been happy until recently.

We stopped off for a crepe and what a choice! There is something for everyone, with a greek yogurt and honey crepe for my 18 month old, a raspberry and white chocolate for my hubby and I had a delicious parma ham, pesto, motzerella and sundried tomato one. It was so tasty!! I think what made them so good was the quality of the ingredients, this meant the flavours were well beyond what I'd expected.

Absolutely amazing! We organised to have my sisters baby shower, after doors closed on Sunday. We were a party of about 30 and organised to have the picnic bench which was like £10 each,Absolute bargain! The food was amazing and the amount that was given to us was loads! Got to take some home which I thought was great! Compared to other places I had looked into to organise the shower this is by far the best in Penarth

I popped into Crepe Escape for a lunchtime crepe which I had been looking forward to for some time-this was my 1st visit.

It was my second time in The Crepe Escape and probably the last for a long time. Drinks arrived promptly but food order got lost which meant that we waited good 40 minutes until one of the waitresses arrived at the table with my husbands Crepe order which was made around 20 minutes after mine and my daughters.

Went with my husband who hasn't got as much as a sweet tooth as me so I was slightly worried! But it was perfect, he had a savoury cheese and bacon crepe and I had a marshmallow and nutella one. Great and friendly service with a lovely atmosphere!

Since i first arrived to Penarth (1 year already) this is been one of my favorite places to go to enjoy a meal or even just a nice coffee meeting with friends! I visit The Crepe Scape at least once a week and it never disappoints me.

Despite the delicious sweet options available at Crepe Escape, and as someone with a sweet tooth, I always surprise myself by ordering a savoury option when I go here. They're too good to resist! Great coffee too. And the freakshakes are amazing!

We decided to go out and have lunch on a Sunday. Quite a few establishments were shut on a Sunday and one of our usual places, the Ocho Lounge was very busy. So we decided to go to the Crepe Escape. We were not disappointed. The crepes were delicious. I had the Cheese and Ham very nice. A good size portion. We also had the grandchildren who very well catered for. Lots of high chairs and a nice open area at the back, where small children very playing.

Took my daughters for a treat today , we won't be returning as felt very uncomfortable there , my order wasn't brought out as was forgotten , no apology when asked where it was , just slammed on my table , Shame as local to me and has very nice food , can't pay to go somewhere and be treated like that .
