Absolutely wonderful lunch. Everyone did everything possible to make our meal a pleasure. We had a vegan in our party and Karl the chef couldn't have been more helpful. Excellent food (I had the brisket) at a very reasonable price. £20 for 2 courses. We were treated like kings

A pleasant way to spend a Friday evening, good food, friendly atmosphere and served by a smiling and very helpful waitress. Decent menu to choose from and reasonably priced.

We ordered a Sunday 2 course meal which when they came to take are order they told me and my husband they didn’t have the three meat dinners only Beef, would have been nice to be told when we were given the menu , garlic mushrooms was very tasty but when it came to the main meal coming out it took an hour, we were told they were busy as they had a table of 12, i would have hated to go there if they were really busy as for the Sunday lunch it was ok, me nor my husband ate the meat it was chaffy,won’t be going back

Just had a fabulous Sunday roast there, the brisket fell apart, the roasties were actually crunch and the gravy was the best I've tasted in a pub or restaurant (I'm northern so I know what I'm talking about!) Will definitely be going back. Best Sunday dinner I've had outside of my own home.

Ok pub but drinks expensive. Why these pubs down the vale sell the expensive largers beats me what's wrong with the cheaper beers on the market.

Charming little pub/restaurant, popped in for a Sunday lunch and the food was delicious. Will be happy to return again. Waiters were pleasant and helpful. The interior a very raw look on how the building was, really nice to look around but do mind your head for those of you above 5’5! Thank you for a pleasant lunch, see you again.

Went to this pub for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed!! The staff who greeted us were delightful and we sat in the restaurant, which is very traditional in its decor. Lovely. The service was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Somehow we managed to eat 3 courses which is a surprise as the quality and quantity of the food was exceptional. My Welsh rarebit starter was delicious and then we both had the beef dinner. The beef was fabulous. We finished off with the lemon meringue and mint sphere which were also very nice It was our first visit to this pub but we will definitely be back and we would heartily recommend it to others

It’s a great country boozer, off the beaten track, and quirky and worth a visit if you looking for original boozers. We love visiting, and it’s a sun trap too.

Delicious Sunday roast once again! Plenty of meat, lovely creamed spinach and fab roasties all served in a cosy pub atmosphere. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon!

Unfortunately had a really negative experience. It was a long wait for Sunday lunch due to whatever reasons, we weren’t told when we arrived but assumed by the chaotic atmosphere and the staff chatting loudly and openly in front of us about everything was going wrong. We found plastic in both main roast dinners and not really much acknowledgment when we notified the staff. After clearing our plates and taken to the kitchen, they said the plastic was from some packaging. I’m so pleased our children didn’t eat our dinners as the plastic pieces were quite big and sharp. The response to our review originally is posted below as they are now saying it was sea salt. From their response below, I think they have us confused with another table which is concerning as means it could have happened more than once and what they described doesn’t match our account of events. We booked for Sunday lunch at 2.30 (we didn’t get food until 4pm) and I heard they had ran out of roast potatoes (from a table complaining) we didn’t mind having mash potato but again we weren’t informed. We wouldn’t have stayed had we known the wait was so long and told this when we arrived and parts of a Sunday dinner weren’t available. We ordered a starter for our son as he was getting hungry which took over an hour and we kept asking, told it would be out soon then apparently it went to another table so had to wait for another one to be made. Eventually the starter came out 5 minutes before our roast dinners did so was a bit pointless. We won’t be returning as we’ve been a couple of times and both times there’s been problems but the plastic in our food and how it was dealt with is the main reason for not booking again to eat here. They have also deleted my review on their Facebook page which is sad as they clearly don’t want diners to know about this bad experience. At the time I felt sorry for the three girls who were left running the pub on their busiest day as they weren’t experienced and didn’t know how to handle customer care and complaints. It’s disappointing to see how the pub owners and management are running this, what used to be a nice, pub!

Our waitress was on her first day working there. She was a breath of fresh air. From the second we walked through the door, she was there to help us. She took us through to our table, which was ready for us. She took our order for drinks and then took our order for food. When the food came, it was lovely and hot and a very good portion. She asked if we wanted more gravy. She was very tentive and checked that everything was OK. If there was anything more we needed. The pub itself was very rustic and very comfortable, the food was of a very good price and very tasty with portions that should please everyone. We had our dog with us, and she was made welcome. I would recommend this pub 100%

Parking in the yard, maybe 4-5 cars can fit, there are also a few parking spaces on the street next to the restaurant

I had a lovely Sunday lunch just gone with my partner the service was amazing it’s was warm and welcoming I had soup to start which was really tasty and full of flavour I then had beef dinner which was out of this world the beef was cooked to perfection it just melts in your mouth I highly recommend this place for food I’ll definitely be going back to try they lunch time menu 👍😊

Unplanned visit with a group of friends after visiting some sights in the area. I was very pleasantly surprised with the character of the pub as well as the friendly and attentive waitress. The menu was varied and the quality of the food was great. If I'm ever in the area I will definitely be returning ❤️ Wi-Fi is available and the pub takes cash or card.

Possibly the epitome of the Welsh country inn. Open wood fires, and cosy nooks. Lovely atmosphere. We loved the food.

Called in for a few drinks with friends. Ended up looking at the menu witch was great. I had the steak and my maye had the fish and another had the curry. Curry was home made and amazing the fish was just the best a massive fish more like a shark. As fir the steak I asked for rare and it came out perfect. Great size meals and the staff was great could not do enough for you. A great place will be visiting again

Arrived at 13:05 and then waited until 14:20 to actually get any food. By this point, my kids were starving and upset. They also served a table that arrived after us their starters before we had received our meals. Rubbish service. Won't be returning, which is a shame as the food has always been great. Seems like it's gone downhill now, the change in owners.

Beautiful old pub. Service seemed to struggle and could not fulfill an order. A party of 4, 3 of us received our meals but 1 was asked “sorry, what did you order again”. I understand this has just been taken over by new owners so maybe it hasn’t found its footing yet. But I will say food needs improvement. i feel like I got a frozen meal cooked in a microwave.

Good menu options, beef, pork, turkey, beetroot wellington roasts on the menu today. 3 of us had mains each trying one of the meat options, Yorkshire pud especially delicious. For dessert we shared raspberry and white choc pav, sticky toffee pub between us. We arrived having reserved 1530 table, told there would be a delay as they just serving large table, fine. Unfortunately it was some time before a drinks order was taken and the mains didn’t arrive till 1700, some missing veg as they had run out. Others in the room complained about similar experience and we felt this was mismanaged. One table complained they didn’t have parsnips, response was ‘we definitely did put them on the plate’, in our opinion weather this is the case or not, additional veg should have been brought out. It’s just good customer service. Service from attentive waitresses was adequate. I would return as the food was tasty but would be sure to enquire about the for-mentioned reservations. Did not complain in house as felt staff knew there had been mistakes and hope they rectify, based on conversations had with other guests. Hope to be able to give more stars next time. Happy to feedback to owners should they wish.

Popped in for a week day evening meal, service was fast and friendly, I had the chilli which was the perfect portion size, slight kick but not overly spicy, and my 2 sons a kids burger. My 1 son has an allergy and the team was able to tell me what he could have and they had dessert to accommodate his needs. Will definitely be back.

We visited on the 24th September and didn’t have the best experience and put it down to teething issues. So we visited again today Sunday 1st October to give it another chance. I have to say what a turn around. The beef dinner was absolutely outstanding and the service was first class. A big thank you to you all. We will be returning.

What a fantastic Sunday lunch. I had the beef. The Mrs had the belly pork and my daughter had the turkey Beef melt in the mouth Belly pork. Unbelievable Turkey was cooked well Homemade yourkshire puddings. Fresh vegetables. Crispy roast potatoes and a very good gravy. Not as good as mine though. We were very happy and can’t wait to come back. The girls serving us were excellent.

I'm so sorry to write this, but we were really disappointed with our meal. Starters was a fish cake and tarter sauce. The fish cack was a frozen birds eye one. Mains I had batted haddock and chip, well skinny fries which were anemic and by the time you've ate 3 the rest are cold. Chicken tikka which was just like a meal deal from Tesco. Pulled pork chilli..... I believe they are new to the business and really hope they improve but they totally need to look at the food Thier serving. We glanced through window of kitchen and all you could see was a serving stand and microwaves. However the young girl waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. It is a shame but hopefully feedback will help. I did mention about the chips last night as obviously I didn't eat them but didn't want to come over negative as we stayed for few drinks later. All the best hope things change and we will then give you another try.

We went for Sunday lunch on the 24th September and we will not be returning. We ordered the beef brisket which was very tough and came with cold vegetables, what tasted like small frozen Yorkshire pudding and frozen roast potatoes and a very small drop of gravy.. Another 2 tables had similar issues and we all spoke to the young waitresses about it,they apologised and said they would feed back to the boss, in the meantime a couple on the next table decided not to order and left. The manager or chef did not come and speak to any of those who had issues but left it to the 2 young waitresses to deal with it. We felt so sorry for the waitresses who did their best in the circumstances. As I booked online we had an email from table agent asking for a review which I responded but am not expecting a response.

Really enjoyed my visit, food was excellent the Sunday roast was on point! Pork was delicious, served with roast potatoes, home made Yorkshires and veg. Will definitely be back

We actually found this venue through the ale trail the day before. They weren’t serving food because of this. So we decided to come back on Sunday We all have beef dinners. So where to start. The Sunday lunch was decent. Good portions of veg. Carrots, broccoli, peas, the roasties and the parsnips were awesome. The beef was nice however it wasn’t as tender as I would like. Perfectly edible. It was hot and arrived quickly We will be back, hopefully the beef will be better. Ohhh and the girls serving today weee fantastic

It was our first visit to The Lamb and Flag and we loved our Sunday lunch everything was fresh, staff were really friendly and so understanding with the little ones, Would really recommend

An hour wait for parsnip soup with parsnip "crisps" Yet was astonished at two whole parsnips laying in the soup. First time here and heard various complaints around us. Beef was too tough to cut yet told they were still serving it to us. Roasties were of the frozen variety as were the Yorkshires which is robbery at £16.50 per head. We had our soup after an hour. The two young girls serving were a delight, but not a nice experience for them today. Excuse was new chef and beef was cooked overnight, but a true "chef" would have delivered an awesome meal considering it was the first Sunday roast after some time. Lovely place, although very cold, two beautiful fires that could have been lit.

One of the best Sunday lunches I've ever had. The Thursday pie and pint night is also just as amazing. The pub itself has such a warming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Went on recommendation of friends and so disappointed. Food was poor presented, some of it over cooked and other parts cold. Stale "flatbread" that was impossible to cut through and totally over-microwaved peas. No wonder it was empty and the other pubs in the area were busy. Hopefully just a one off but not going back I'm afraid

Very disappointing. Early evening we were the only people in the restaurant area for an hour and they were turning people away during this time?! Main course took almost an hour to arrive and was truly disappointing. Burger so thin, not home made and cost £14.95, chips had reside taste like older cooking oil. Waitress friendly and trying hard but could not make up for the really poor quality food. We should have complained but felt waitress already had an uphill struggle.

After overhearing someone saying how lovely the Sunday Dinner was, we booked for lunch in the small room. What a lovely surprise! A fabulous atmospheric old pub and wonderful, smiling staff that couldnt do enough for you. And the food...just wow! Beautifully cooked meats and vegetables with the best Yorkshire Puddings I have eaten in a restaurant. Altogether a wonderful afternoon. What a find.

Great food, great service, lovely building and atmosphere. Watch your head if you're over 6ft tall though.

What a lovely, quaint old pub, with a roaring open fire. The food was great... the seabass and ginger fish cake starter was the stand-out dish, delicious! The car park is very small... only enough room for 3 or 4 vehicles, so be prepared to park out on the road at busier times.

This is a lovely old pub, with open fires and lots of character. I went there for Sunday lunch. With great food and friendly staff, you can't ask for more. I'd definitely recommend a visit here. Families and dogs are very welcome.

Great service for ten of my family on New Years Day - managed to fit us in last minute which we appreciated. The food was great with huge portions and the staff were very accommodating. Would recommend!

Booked a table arrived half an hour early waited 40minutes outside for table to be ready told which table no one came with menus we had to go and ask then no one came for to take order had to ask 20 minutes later then told no beef so left 1and a half hours later a birthday and anniversary meal was had somewhere else very sad as pre covid we had lots of meals there.. it was shocking and we won't be going back

1st time visitors for Sunday lunch. Which was really good, can't wait for pudding. Parking can be a bit hit or miss.

Tasty but cold food...20 minutes to ask for our order...(wasn't even busy)overpriced for poor service and cold food .. won't return !! Yes was Sunday 7th @ 3.00...not used to complaining...but think we were last being served...and missed the hot food.

I enjoyed a family meal here the other Sunday. My only complaint was it took a long time to be served, like hour plus but they did give me free drinks as a token. So cannot really complain thus the 5 stars.

Over hour and a half wait for Sunday lunch. Table booked for 1400hrs and when the food arrived it was freezing. We will not be rushing back.
