The best restaurants serving British food in England

Called here for lunch Sunday 6 April 25. It’s becoming our go to place when we’re in Blackpool having been here on several previous occasions we know that it meets with our expectations. I had a 2 course Sunday lunch, roast turkey with their homemade soup to begin. My wife had a ham sandwich with a side of fries, The service was outstanding from our arrival to departure and the food was delicious and all reasonably priced. It’s worth looking this place up if you’re in town.

Excellent food, friendly and accommodating staff. Amazing selection of desserts but the Choux ring wins every time.❤️

The burger was average no real taste chips were dry was not given any sauses with them I did not feel like asking. A few were under cooked. The mens toilet was dirty and the toilet seat looked like it was 20 years old dirty and stained. Would not return.

Great Sunday dinner. Chose the 3 course deal. Great value for money. Nice bottle of Merlot too. Thoroughly enjoyable. Great vibes. Restaurant busy. Service excellent 👌 food lovely. Some live music at 5pm in the bar which was great background but in no way intrusive . Bar was packed ..so excellent vibe. 5 star again for Cliffhouse. Lovely late afternoon evening visit 😁

We have never been before but what a lovely surprise. The building looks very old from the outside but fantastic inside.

Después de tratar de encontrar una plaza de aparcamiento en Whitby, nos rendimos y nos dirigimos de nuevo a Sleights. Llamé alrededor de las 4 pm a Eskdale Fisheries. Conseguimos una mesa muy rápido y optamos por el Especial de Pescado, Patatas fritas, pan con mantequilla y una bebida caliente. El pescado estaba encantador y en escamas en una masa ligera y las patatas fritas eran excelentes, perfectamente cocinado y no grasoso. El precio es excelente relación calidad-precio y la calidad es alta. Tampoco podría fallar el servicio. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

We had a nice snack and drink here- enjoyable and fairly good service, especially considering how busy the resturant was. The food was incredibly flavourful and so tasty- it was really lovely to have some nice food! Would gladly return- even though it's difficult to get to, especially in a large crew van like ours (obviously this isn't the farm's fault though!)

Great experience today! Came in and it was fairly quiet and as we were dining it picked up quite a bit but our service was the same excellent standard throughout. Props to Rebecca, she's lovely!!

Nice food, excellent service and good atmosphere.

Four of us popped out for a proper family lunch, and I must say, it couldn’t have been lovelier. We all chose something different from the menu — steak fajitas, a beautifully cooked steak, some truly delicious BBQ ribs, chicken tikka with rice, and I fancied trying something new so went for the tuna-stuffed aubergine. First time having it, and it was absolutely gorgeous — full of flavour, beautifully presented, and a nice change from the usual. Everyone was really pleased with their meals — generous portions too, so no one went home hungry! The lad behind the bar was fantastic — very professional but also really friendly, which made such a difference. We enjoyed a few pints with our food, all poured perfectly. Then, just as we were thinking about heading off, I happened to spot a bottle of absinthe tucked behind the bar — I couldn’t resist! He did the whole performance for me, with the sugar cube and the flame — such a fun little moment to round things off. The staff in general were absolutely lovely — really welcoming atmosphere throughout, and having plenty of parking was a real bonus. Top marks from us — a cracking lunch out, and we’ll definitely be back before long

We booked a table as this was a highly rated place for a roast dinner near Scarborough. I had called ahead and enquired about vegetarian roast dinner options for my girlfriend. On the phone I was assured there were multiple options and although this technically was the case, neither were necessarily the best accompaniments for a roast (stuffed pepper and stuffed pasta). The service was great and we had a lovely table in a corner and the atmosphere was cozy and great. I ordered the beef roast dinner and my girlfriend ordered the stuffed peppers with a roast. The food came relatively quickly. The selection of vegetables was nice and was a welcomed change to have red cabbage and cheesy leeks although they would have been a bit more generous with the portion size as it was to share between the 2 of us. It would have also been nice to have some optional extras on the menu like a portion of cauliflower cheese. The roast dinner also only came with 2 roast potatoes which were really big but would have preferred 3 or 4 smaller ones. It came with a jug of gravy however it was meat gravy and there was not a vegetarian alternative but luckily my girlfriends stuffed peppers were quite saucy so her dinner wasn't dry. My beef was nice however it was slightly chewy and could have been hotter coming out and was only kept warm by hot gravy. Bit of an irrelevant side note but the loos were really nice! Everything else was really lovely and we did have a nice meal and I appreciate it is a small country pub in Scarborough but if you advertise as vegetarian friendly then I think it needs to follow through fully - for example being advised they don't have a veggie gravy upon ordering the dinner or even having a veggie alternative. I'm sorry to be negative, especially when we did have such a lovely time (hence the 4 stars) bu my girlfriend has been vegetarian for 5 years and situations like these feel very frustrating and easily avoidable if staff are more aware and informed.

Good food reasonably priced and friendly staff.. Only gripe was the large fish was large in length but skinny which meant way too much batter for the fish.

Popped in for Bruch for two. Not only was the food excellent, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and delivered exceptional service. Special nod to the young chef and waitress who served us. Excellent value for money too!

Superb Italian food,freshly cooked by a very dedicated,talented local Chef. The Resturant may be small with room for only a limited number of Customers but well worth the wait.
