Nice fish & chips however ensure you ask for it skinned when ordering as the skin did put me off and wasn't asked if we preferred skin on or nowhere on the menu. Seating area full of screaming children would not recommend eating in. Toilet was dirty and had no toilet roll. I would recommend it for takeaway, as the group of bikers it attracts is off putting.

Seriously good fish and chips. Fish is freshly cooked in crisp batter that's not greasy at all. Chips are deliciously fried an have a beautiful fluffy texture.

Awesome chippy great food and service

I visited with my family on Saturday 17th August, which there was 10 of us. Service was okay. Some of my family ordered first and received their food last even though me and partner ordered separately and paid last. So wasn’t very happy. We all had different things. We all had chips whereas some of us had sausage, battered sausage, cheeseburgers, fish, gravy and curry sauce. It wasn’t the best but we still ate it because it was edible. Once leaving Matlock a few hours later and getting home some of us came down with awful stomach pains and diarrhoea as well as a headache. My uncle and boyfriend who are both chefs said the gravy looked and tasted off and that says it all for a fish and chip shop if they can’t get that right! Considering this was the first time eating here, I WON’T be paying a visit again

Chose this place based on the great reviews and the fact that it looked full of happy customers from the outside. Very glad I did! All the staff were super friendly and helpful, especially the dark-haired man (owner/manager?), the whole place was really nice and clean and modern inside, and the food was amazing! Perfect chips, delicious fish, tasty sausage and gorgeous curry sauce. Excellent value too. We got a takeaway but the dine-in area looked great. Can't wait to return next time we visit Matlock Bath.

We visited with our grandson and from the very start were made to feel welcome. We requested extra plates and a mug to accommodate our grandson and all was given with an understanding nature. The food was well cooked and we all enjoyed it. Thank you all for your excellent service.

We have been here so many times we have lost count, Each time the fish n chips are cooked to order, great light crispy batter, lovely crispy ( not soggy) chips and nice mushy peas, homemade curry sauce also good Coffee particularly good says my husband, who is fussy with his coffee likes it strong and black We have had both lunchtime special £7 ( fish chops and mushy peas) and full priced fish n chips, although the full priced one, I can never finish, more like a mans plate

Stopped here for lunch as we walked around the area. With lots of competition in the area it was going to be interesting to see how they did. We went with the mini fish deal and the mini sausage deal and was pleasantly surprised at the portions, they definitely weren’t mini and were great value for money. The fish was lovely and fresh with a light batter and the curry sauce was perfect chip shop style. The sausage was very big with a nice crispy batter and we both agreed the chips were some of the best we’ve had.

My daughter and I like going here for takeaway. Although I have not had the fish the chips are nice and the batter on the sausage is also good. Unfortunately they don't do steak and kidney pudding, only pies.🫤. Not too expensive

Big piece of well cooked fish and the chips were more than sufficient. If you sit outside the view is quite good too.

Just stopped as we were out in the area. They had just opened up, but the service was fantastic, well when the fish and chips arrived, wow, huge great plate, the fish was huge, the batter was very light and crispy and full of flavour, chips were cooked to perfection, add the mushy peas, just heavenly. Sat outside sun shining watching the world go by. Could not have been better. Top notch all round. 5 stars from me ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Regular Haddock and chips. Haddock was nice size and batter was nice and light, cooked fresh. Chips were nice and chunky. Staff were very polite, would recommend and will be returning again.

By far the best Fish & chips you will get in Derbyshire. Beautiful flakey fish not a bit of grease on the chips and right good old fashioned mushy peas. Staff are fabulous and the place is spotless. The friendliest place going. We love it ❤️❤️❤️ Trish & Graham

Friendly quick service on a busy bank holiday. Large fish, mini fish, battered sausage and a sausage for the dog all delicious, fresh and piping hot. The only negative was the strangest tomato sauce I have ever seen, looked more like sweet and sour sauce crossed with starbwerry jam!

Always friendly staff and I went this Sunday and unfortunately a lady was ill and needed a ambulance so waited for the ambulance while my food went cold as the lady was more important but the staff here are so good and go above and beyond replaced the whole meal with fresh food which was amazing. Keep up the good work and see you again soon

There are several fish and chip shops in Matlock Bath so we picked this one at random. So glad we did. Perfectly cooked fish and chips, proper mushy peas….. spotlessly clean and friendly service. We would definitely return.

We visited on Sunday 24th March. I usually like to leave good reviews, so this is is difficult to write. We actually chose to go to Kostas, rather than one of the many other fish and chip cafes, because of the great reviews. However, one of our party said her food tasted of chemicals and although mine was ok, I was awake during the night feeling poorly. It was also very tight for space in the seating area. I wouldn't go back. Sorry.

One of many fish n chips venues in Matlock Bath. This one was still open a little later than the others, so we went there... Wasn't disappointed. Lovely staff, lovely food, plenty of seats (obviously, when it's not a busy Sunday, or similar). Was nice....

We bought a takeaway on our first night in Matlock Bath. It was a little slow to get our order but we slowly realised the cod was cooked fresh so we were very pleased about that! No pies available but shows they are very popular. Great fish and the chips were really tasty too.

Food is mediocre. Fish was ok the batter is a little greasy. Fish obviously not that fresh and not much taste. Curry sauce and mushy peas very runny! The chips are pretty good! 👍

My wife and I regularly travel from home to Matlock Bath to have two fish and chips to take away. We have never had a meal we haven't thoroughly enjoyed. Add to that the wrapping/boxing up plus very reasonable costs for two meals and it's a winner. Cheers guys

Tbh if i wasnt so hungry id have left the food an walked out nearly £30 for 2 fish, chips an mushy peas the plate was swimmin in grease 🤢 wouldnt eat here again tbh they could at least shake the food when they take it out the fryer

Lovely place, staff were helpful, nice and clean, chios were great and the fish was delicious. Not soggy, very fresh, hot, and really tasty bit of cod. 100% my go to chipshop in matlock from now on

Been many times over the years, never a problem. Called on Thursday 4th Jan '24, served quick enough with a smile, the mini fish chips & peas looked good, unfortunately it was all batter, there was the thinnest sliver of dried up fish I ever saw inside that batter, how did anybody cut it so thin. Taking the pish now, time to go elsewhere. Why lose a regular customer. Looked the part, just shy of any fish in all that batter, see pic.

Fish and chips and a delicious curry sauce with a mug of tea, perfect! Because the shop was so busy, the food is freshly cooked. No food standings about. Fryer to the plate. Cod was beautiful white. I'd definitely eat here on another visit.

Could not believe I bought a large Cod and Chips for less than £10. It would have cost around £17 back in Cambridge. Really good portion cooked fresh. I would thoroughly recommend

OK for a quick portion of chips, good seating area! Unfortunately though, like so many fish and chip shops, they don't have proper malt vinegar, only artificially coloured acid water, otherwise known as non brewed condiment.

This is by far the best Fish & Chip shop in Matlock Bath, most probably the whole of Derbyshire & beyond. Not only is their F&C box meal amazing value with portion size, but the quality is simply epic too. I've had a few F&C meals over the years and the best I ever tasted was a place on the North West Atlantic coast in Ullapool Scotland during 2001. I never felt anywhere could ever match this place, until I went to Kostas that is! Delicious 😋

Had a lovely meal with kit team on way back from Matlock town. Had fish,chips and mushy peas, was spot on. Son had chicken burger and chips said it was lovely all cooked fresh

We were in Matlock Bath for the Illuminated Boats in the gardens and so it was very busy. We were lucky to get a table in Kosta's cafe and we ordered our fish and chips at the counter. It was delivered to our table along with our cups of tea. We enjoyed our meal - it was good.
