We visited here for lunch, there are tables at the front and a room at the rear. The time we visited it was very busy. Special thanks to Courtney who was very pleasant and very hard working, she was welcoming customers, taking orders and serving drinks while trying to train a unenthusiastic trainee. The food served was lovely and reasonably priced. We will revisit when we are in the area.

Today I visited the Bakewell Cafe with my mum great prices and plesent surroundings. We ordered 2 scones and a cup of coffee each the Scones where light and fluffy still warm served with Jam and Butter every mouthfull was wonderfully morish and the coffee was nice medium blend with plenty of milk not like some cafes where you get a thimbuls worth of milk there was plenty for both of us. The cafe was nice and warm which was a plesent suprize in the present financial climate we are in in the UK. Restrooms/toilets where well maintained and nice and clean we intend to re visit another time we are visiting the Bakewell area.

Nice little find, tucked down an alley way. There are two rooms, a smaller one at the front and a larger one at the rear. A reasonable menu is supplement by a varied specials board. I was tempted by the Homity Pie but decided that it was a bit too heavy, for such a warm day. In the end we both went for a prawn sandwich in a brown bun. It was well presented, with a light salad, coleslaw and crisps. The service was quick and efficient and we had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch.

I love this cafe. Food is great, prices are fair, selection of drinks exceptional! The only downside is not always getting to see the tall bearded waiter (Ben I think his name is?), as he really is quite handsome. I'll have to keep coming back in the hopes off seeing him again! Don't mind that though as I get to enjoy more of their delicious food and drinks.

When we entered before we had even said anything we was greeted with a sarcastic remark from the waitress who continued to be the same throughout. Poor quality insipid tea served. As a professional who has owned and worked in the industry for many years I would suggest some "people" skills are introduced. It would make the Bean and Bag a far more welcoming and enjoyable place to take a break.

Just called for a drink but the cake cabinet kept calling my name. The coffee and the Mocca was excellent good flavor and hot served with a biscuit. The cakes were excellent moist and not dry like some others obviously fresh baked. The entrance is flat and access good with more seating at the back and some upstairs. The cafe is in Bakewells centre so there is street parking if you are very lucky and Monday is market day so parking is limited as the nearby carparks are closed but there is good parking at the carpark near the bridge and the agricultural centre. The staff were very prompt friendly and efficient. We saw an other tables panini and they looked lovely. We would definitely go back.

Called at Bakewell whilst we were away for a few nights. Checked on Tripadvisor and this cafe stated it was open until 4.30pm so we headed there. As we entered the cafe at 2.50pm we were abruptly told ‘we’ve stopped serving’, we replied asking if that was for cakes too but in mid sentence got cut off and told ‘that’s everything, we’ve stopped serving’. We understand that places have to close early on occasions but some manners wouldn’t go a miss.

We had lunch - Scrambled Eggs on Toast, and Egg Benedict. I’ve been many times to this cafe and it’s never been an issue. But it was a little disappointing today. Egg Benedict was on the specials board but sadly it was served on a massive plate “hiding in the corner” so to speak with a paltry two slivers of tomato as the sole offering of a garnish the other side of the plate. Given the Full English and other lovely items on the menu an offering of Eggs (plural) Benedict would have been a better offering given the size of the portion for Scrambled Eggs. Even if it was priced more. I will stick to the regular menu in future and award 4/5.

We chose the Bean and Bag for our one Afternoon Tea experience in England. The cost for two was around 18 pounds total, which was a remarkably good value. You should have seen my husband's face when they brought out the stand of food with three overflowing tiers! We substituted hot cocoa for tea (usually an upcharge) and really enjoyed the cocoa and food. The salad is best eaten with the sandwiches which were yummy. We had to take some desserts back to the hotel, as there was too much for us to finish. The desserts included lemon cake, chocolate/cherry cake, fruit scones with clotted cream and jam, Bakewell pudding, and a chocolate confection that my husband loved. There were generally two of everything! The staff was helpful and laid-back. They wanted us to enjoy our experience! The cafe was very clean and we'd gladly go again!

I opted for a Hot Chocolate, which was lovely We also had a slice of Victoria Sponge each. The cake was nice and fresh and a good size portion. All the cakes were wrapped up, as it was only 3pm i'm hoping they are kept like this to keep them fresh, which is so nice to see, as so often by that time of day cakes are drying out because they have not been stored very well. Nothing worse than eating dried up cake.

Firstly, I have to agree withtraveldoc65 that the filter coffee is very weak, could hardly taste the coffee at all. We live nearby and have been using this cafe for quite a long time and it seems to me that it keeps changing hands, as originally there were some very interesting and out of the ordinary meals on the menu and now it seems quite a bland.choice. I had the cinnamon toast and my OH had an egg mayo sandwich. The filling was OK, but they had used the cheapest bread rolls, which was just falling apart as he was eating it. Sadly, I don't think we shall be using this cafe again.

Initially we rejected other places as, we didn't want to sit outside on a cold October lunchtime, nor want something over facing, nor too expensive. Right in the heart of it all. Staff always friendly. Goats cheese, walnut and grape bap for me, plus tea; Brie and cranberry panini and cappuccino o for the other half. Good food, good value..and there’s full English breakfasts for the traditionalists. Really like the spirit of the ladies at this wee bistro. We popped back for a Bakewell pudding later...top notch.

Visited Bakewell today, what a lovely town, so beautiful really wanted a nice afternoon tea. Stopped at the Bean and Bag a lovely airy bright tea room. Ordered an afternoon tea and what a treat the biggest problem was eating it all. Delightful sandwiches and salad, fabulous cake, scummy scones and of courses delicious Bakewell tart. Highly recommend

Just right for something more than a snack but not a full meal. Beautiful sandwiches and wraps. Probably about 8 tables so quite cosy. We called and it wasn't busy fortunately. Great service . Reasonable prices, again which is what we wanted. Would call again. Why look for anything else?

Whilst I cannot fault the quality of the food, the lack of toilet facilities causes me a major problem. Previously when we have visited here we were able to use the toilets belonging to the pub next door. Having mobility problems and on medication , I politely asked if it would be possible to use the staff WC. This was refused and I was told to use the public toilets which were a considerable distance away. It took me a very painful 25 minute walk to go there and back.I am 85 years old, leaning heavily on a walking stick . I feel very disappointed as i have visited this fish shop many times in the past.

Really lovely food, you wouldn't know it from the outside/inside - it's like any other pub but the food was really good. Had the best dessert - rice pudding with apple and nuts - to die for.

We went for Sunday lunch and it was probably the best I've had, the meat melted in your mouth and the veg was brilliant with meaty gravy

Arrived around 10:45 am on 10/11/24 only to be informed that there was no hot food being served until 11:15 due to a take away order. Others in front of us left and we reluctantly ordered two coffees, a flapjack and a Pork Pie instead of the full cooked breakfasts we’d hoped for. We were charged twice for the Pork Pie, which we pointed out and were subsequently refunded for. We sat at a table that had the previous occupants breakfast plate on it (which was never cleared, considering the waiting on staff weren’t serving any food at the time) and waited for our coffee which did not arrive. We fetched it ourselves from the counter, at which point around 11:05, they started taking breakfast orders again. The place seemed poorly managed and why you’d turn away valued customers for a take away order is beyond me.
