The best restaurants serving British food in England

Eat here quite often, but overdue first review. Excellent food and service. Calamari the best I've had, mussels terrific, sea bass and schnitzel also brilliant. Service great too. Thanks Jack and Ken

Mao's Thai take away was a massive treat, but due to conflict between landlord and tenant closed now, a real shame.

My favourite place to drink, really welcoming staff and lovely regulars. Always a positive experience with everyone! Best nights out here especially a Saturday night

Ha! I have two accounts and I forgot to say last time, it's always service with a smile 😊 Just to repeat, best pasty I've ever had! But don't buy the cheese and broccoli because they're mine! All mine!! 😁 (Seriously, try them!)

A decent old fashioned cafe where you can get various breakfast options most of the hotplate fried! I had a pretty ok full English. Hard to get a decent cooked breakfast in Central London

As an old member I was taken aback to find that so much of the building has been turned over to a restaurant. With the main building closed for a private event (with no warning on their website), there was nowhere for members to go outside of the restaurant. Very disappointing.

Delicious food and lovely staff :)

Absolutely wonderful food and plenty of it. Had the salmon and chicken supreme. I wanted to try the Teriyaki; however due to pending permanent closure it wasn’t available. Lovely friendly waitress, great service! It is such a huge shame the council is closing this restaurant as it is one of the few upmarket restaurants in the area. I only found out about it after reading a press release regarding the closure. Perhaps with more publicity the restaurant would have had more success and stayed open.

The breakfast menu l found to be ABIT disappointed as the large breakfast as the eggs were over cooked and not runny as we had a party of 20+ people and the baked beans came in a large bowl for a table of four to share and was so hot it was microwaved to high a temperature. Sorry but I won't be coming back as I felt it was not value for money

Great pub! Friendly atmosphere. Very tasty food. Sport events on a big TV screen. Draft beer. Darts, pool. Very pleasant, welcoming owners! And the log fire 🔥 Greyhaund is a perfect family place! I highly recommend 👌

Brilliant breakfasts!! The food, service and views from this café are second to none. Their coffee is pretty good too! Brilliant location just round the corner from the bus stop so right in the middle of Ambleside!
