The New Inn never fails to please for great food, lovely service and fantastic value. It’s a real local pub if you want to pop in for a pint but also with delicious honest pub food. A relatively limited menu indicates that this food is real-not plucked out of a packet-but we always find meals to enjoy. A rump steak with all the trimmings arrived cooked to perfection and cost around £15. A real steak pie with gravy and veg was also delicious. There are fun monthly charity quizzes which fill the pub. Highly recommend whether you’re a holiday maker looking for a great meal out or a local

The team at the New Inn are amazing. They have been cooking and delivering lunches to my elderly mother in the village since the pandemic and beyond. The Landlady greeted my friend and I as soon as we walked in. What a lovely welcome. As we were staying DBB locally, we did not want a lot to eat but as the Dinner where we were staying was not very good, thought a top up advisable. The menu was good and well priced but not quite what we wanted , (it did look good though). We told the lovely Lady that all I wanted was a salad and my friend a sandwich. No problem - she told us what meats she had available for both the salad and sandwich. Both came and were delicious, no pre-sliced vacuum packed meat here (I am a retired Home Economist). Bar staff pleasant and engaging and customers chatted to us. I do this at my local when any strangers come in and so it was nice to have a chat and find out about the area. Didn't ask the price, but needn't have worried we paid £8 each for the food and it was well worth it. I took half of mine back to the hotel, (thank goodness as all I could eat of the evening food was the chips!) Nice seating outside, plenty of parking and we were recommended places to walk from the Pub.

The things that make a pub visit enjoyable and memorable for us are good food (if we're eating), well kept local ales, comfortable and pleasant surroundings and, last but certainly not least, a warm welcome. The New Inn ticked all these boxes. The menu was brief but well thought out, made from locally sourced ingredients and delicious. They kindly cater for special requests too. The local ale and lager were also excellent. Everyone who arrived during our visit was made to feel very welcome and we felt that our custom was very much appreciated. (Sadly not always the case).Oh, and the hanging baskets are stunning - further proof of the care and attention to detail.

Pre-booked Sunday lunch for 1 pm. Arrived 5 mins early and after being shunned for 15 minutes were shown to our table. Our drinks order was taken and arrived promptly. Had to ask for our meal after another 30 minutes as the owner kept telling us she'd be with us shortly. The locals picking up takeaways were prioritised at all times, the food arrived 20mins later and was cold. Very disappointing and we were not the only one's unhappy at the service, and I don't agree with other reviews on here that the prices are competitive either. The only reason we ate the meal was because we had waited so long. Have to say the young waitress worked her socks off and was pleasant and helpful at the same time. Owner take some direction from this young lady. Need more staff I think. The one star is because of that young girls work ethic.

Food’s OK. But the wait for the food is ridiculous. Over 1hr15 mins today and we had booked a table and pre-ordered our food to be ready for us when we arrived. I think they must cook the meals for each table one at a time, because food trays only seemed to come out every 45 mins or so. Bad days happen, but it was the total lack of communication that is the issue. Her ‘non-apology’ at 7:30 made it clear that she knew at 6:00 when we arrived that there were massive delays in the kitchen. If she had just let us know we would have gone home or somewhere else - instead we were strung along with “not long nows”. Having two hungry kids after a day on the river, it put a real downer on an otherwise great day. Not impressed with how she handled the situation. We won’t be going there again. On the plus side there’s a place next door - so there will still be somewhere to go in the area which is lovely.

I had a guest staying with me and I doubled checked on the website that food was being served tonight (Thursday) .. it stated Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. My guest walked to the pub only to be told no food was being served. Please can you ensure that your website is updated so people are not disappointed

This is a fantastic little pub in the Great British Countryside.I have visited before and never been disappointed, on this occasion I enquired if they also did catering as I needed some sandwiches made for a course, Sandra was more than happy to oblige and one two separate days she freshly made a platter and delivered them to the course location. They were delicious home made and there were none left at the end of each day. Great service, and very good quality. We will be back for more.

Great Fish and Chips plus drinks in this friendly pub on our last evening on a visit to Fownthorpe. Made to feel very welcome as visitors to the area.

Fownhope is a pretty little village served well by a small shop and two pubs. Of these The New Inn is the one to go to. Visited on a Saturday evening and were immediately made to feel very welcome. We took advantage of the Steak and Burger night which was fantasticly tasty and incredible value at around £10 each. The drink selection is as you'd expect and the beer is great. We sat outside in the garden at the front. Everyone working at the pub was very friendly and happy to chat.Exactly the sort of pub that every pub should be.

Got to our cottage early evening ready for our visit to RHS Malvern the following day. After settling in we decided to go to the local village for a bite to eat.We had a choice of the pubs but opted for The New Inn, and what a find. The landlady was brilliant and so friendly. She brought over the menu, sat down beside us and recommended the burger, ace.I had the homemade steak pie with fresh vegetables and sweet potato fries and my wife the burger. How nice to have a choice rather than plain old chips. The meal was accompanied by two pints of Robinson’s cider and rounded off with sticky toffee pudding. It was raining that evening and two couples that had walked down for a meal from the local campsite were all offered a lift back from the landlady. How lovely and what a genuine person. What a fantastic pub.

I arranged a lunch here for my walking group of 40. The meals were excellent and served by friendly staff. It was a most enjoyable occasion.

Beautiful scenic spot, absolutely stunning. Dog friendly. Food was amazing and atmosphere good too. Boat was running as water was too high but didn’t matter to us!

Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We got slightly lost, rang in and again very pleasant. Arrived 7 minutes late and walked into a very ‘local’ pub feel. All eyes on us. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣

As we entered the lovely lady came to us with menus. Food was brought to us on hot plates and presented very nicely. We all enjoyed what we had. Thankyou will return.
