Fantastic Sunday lunch , no rush , perfect food , cauliflower cheese included and good quality meats . Atmosphere was lovely especially ,very well managed ( 18/08/2024) Steph was amazing x

Celebration meal for golden anniversary. Great service, excellent venue, quality food. Jenna and the team were great. From allowing us to decorate the function room, to attentive service from the lovely waitresses, and really tasty food!

While visiting our friends we went to the Nags Head for a return visit. As usual, a lovely welcome by Jen and her staff, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, I had chicken in white wine source, wife had Lasagne and friends had fish and chips (biggest fish I've ever seen) all was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be returning. High recommend. Steve, Trish, Deb and Nick.

First things first - The welcome and service in this well laid out country pub are second to none. Also the beer and cider on offer is first class, so no complaints there. Unfortunately on this occasion the quality of the food was no quite up to scratch. Some of the roast beef we had was very tough and practically inedible. It's such a shame because had it not been for that, we would have definitely made a swift return visit.

Huge shout out for Karen, the landlady at the Nag’s Head at Hereford! We recently stayed at the nearby motorhome site but the on-site pub was shut - as were all the others in the village!!! After a somewhat treacherous walk, Karen not only kept the bar open just for us but also gave us a lift back to the site. What a star! Such kindness goes such a long way x

All I can say is the food was perfect, Staff friendly, location beautiful. I would whole heartedly recommend this place. I had a ribeye that was cooked to a perfect medium rare (great chief). Partner had a chicken schnitzel. You can have a friendly chat and laugh with the staff. Out has the perfect view of the hills. Will visit again.👌

What a little gem. We always head for here when we come to Herefordshire. We’re not an easy group to cater for with various dietary requirements but the staff are super friendly and literally can’t do enough for you. A taylor made, cooked fresh vegan risotto and the crispiest most golden and delicious gluten free fish and chips I’ve ever tasted. Rib eye steak cooked the perfect shade of pink and a monster of a burger with tons of extras added in. Chips are big, fat and crispy. I honestly cannot give enough praise. The Robinsons cider went down rather smoothly as well. Lovely and well kept sunny garden. Dog and children friendly, a pool table and I think a dart board too if you want to make an evening of it. If you phone them before hand they really will go out of their way to accommodate any requirements. 5* is not a high enough score.

We had an excellent Sunday lunch at the Nags today with our group of 10. The roast lamb was delicious, and the homemade puddings went down a storm. Steph, our server, kept us amused and made sure everything ran smoothly.

Just had a lovely meal whilst visiting family who have moved to the area recently. The staff are lovely and very attentive. Great food, will certainly visit again when we are next in the area.

We enjoyed a meal here on a Wednesday. The staff were really friendly, the waitress was great with our 9 year old daughter, giving her lots of attention. Food was amazing, the portions are huge. We will be back 🥰

I booked a buffet at the Nag's Head for a group of 12 friends after a days motorcycle riding at the Yamaha Experience. We were all rather tired, hungry but very keen to chat about the day. The buffet and surrounding that the Nag's Head provided was nothing short of superb: Great food, convivial surroundings and very attentative hosts. Thank You.

We booked a buffet-style dinner for a group of 12 following a long day of motorbiking, and my god did Jenna and the team deliver! We were all very well looked after by the friendly staff, and the quality (and sheer volume!) of food was incredible. Will definitely be returning soon

A proper gem of a public house. Sunday roast was the best by far we have ever had. Owners very accommodating. Pity we found it on our last day of our holiday otherwise would have eaten there every other day. We know where we are going next time we are up that way. Thank you Andy & Sue Wright

At ed of day Sunday lunch. Service slow to start but attentive and good later. Food really nice but veg a bit overcooked but what can you expect at end of service would go again

We have visited on numerous occasions since the new proprietor took over. Each and every time the experience has been wonderful. A concise menu, executed perfectly. A great choice of food and wines. The host are very attentive and look after your every need!! Excellent place to eat.

Amazing pub, amazing atmosphere, amazing food and even better staff! I came here for the a nice meal on Friday and ended up spending the rest of the weekend there, as you can see in the pictures the food is lovely and brilliant portion sizes. There are 2 big open fires which make the pub so cosy and warm! And could not thank the staff enough with how attentive and quick they were with the service. Me and my mum will definitely be back and I highly recommend to anyone passing by:)

Amazing food at great prices. Excellent size portions served to a high standard. Stayed in area for a short break and visited the pub three times and every time the food was delicious and cooked to Michelin style. Short break we were so impressed with the food we ate at The Nags head three days running. Amazing pub with michilen style food. I went with my daughter and tried each others disges eg lasange , fish and chips, chicken burger and starters all for an amazing price . The bar was very warm and cosy and the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome . I would definately recommend a visit to see for yourself as you will not be disappointed .

We heard that the pub was back open and serving food so had to try it. There was plenty to choose from on the menu and staff were very accommodating when we asked for a chair with arms. Food arrived in good time and looked amazing. Not only that, it tasted amazing. All of us agreed that it was very good food. The inside is very welcoming and feels cosy. We absolutely loved it and will be returning.

Good food and drink, a lovely pub and tearoom. Parking available. Sad news however, Mac and Val the tenants are leaving so the pub will close! The pub is now under a new tenant and has been open a while. It seems to get busy for food which is a good thing, hopefully that continues. Further on with the new tenants, all I can is wow, really good food, service and feelings being here. The staff are fabulous and the new chef is simply amazing. The pub I feel is a head above the others around now and the staff and especially the food are top class. 7 out of 7 of us absolutely loved the whole experience. Starters and desserts were good pub grub standard but the main courses were exceptional. The lasagne was huge and the steak was better and cheaper than the one I had the previous week in Miller and Carter last week. Usually (M&C included) there is a bit of the steak, with the exception perhaps of fillet, that has to be left - or taken home for the dog. I had mine rare and didn't leave a scrap. It was beautifuly tender and tasty. The interior of the pub is a clean and atmospheric county pub style. The staff really looked after us for my mother's 90th birthday party. Big thanks.

Fantastic family friendly atmosphere. The children loved the green space. We loved the food.

Had a delicious chicken pie with a good balance of herbs that bought out the flavour. Good standard and good sized helpings. Liked the liver paté before and a delicious lemon roulade after. Good Butty Bach beer.

Stopped for an impromptu lunch. Food (typical British pub food) was excellent along with a very warm welcome, even for our two doggies. We will definitely be back and become regulars. What a gem!!!

Came down to the Nags for a few drinks tonight, stayed for a few more, service was great. Nice and friendly barmaid, it was very inviting.

The Nags closed for a few months as the owner retired in the autumn and was brilliant and many thanks to the retired owner and his staff for excellent food and a great welcome up to that time. We visited on Saturday lunchtime , quiet to begin with but several people then came in and ate. The food was good with a good range on offer .I had a steak pie and my wife had a burger both were very good and the range of drinks appears unchanged from the previous owner. I am pleased to see the Nags has reopened and my experience suggests this will continue to be a good option for eating out.

I thought it was closed at first but glad I went back to check. The food looked fabulous in fact so good it is in my favourites to visit again Give it a try

I thought now was a good time to update my last update. August 2022. Still brilliant. Still highly recommended. July 2021. I booked a meal at the Nags Head for my wife's 70th. There were 13 of us. The pub laid out a long table in the shade in the garden specially for us. The three youngest children were able to enjoy themselves in the playground area of the garden instead of getting bored sitting with us. Between us we ordered a wide variety of the meals on the menu, and we were all delighted with the quality of the food. The service too was excellent - friendly and efficient. It is a pleasure to be able to recommend this pub for its continuing outstanding meals. We have eaten here frequently and never been disappointed. My previous reviews from 2018 and 2019: Just to update last year's review. everything I wrote then still holds true. This is our go-to place for entertaining friends, since we know we can depend on excellent food and a warm welcome. This is what I wrote in 2018: Four of us went for an evening meal here on Thursday. We chose different dishes but they were all so good that we booked again for the Friday evening. Landlord is super-nice and friendly, as were his wife and the waitress. The subtle blended tastes in both the main meals and the desserts are far beyond what you expect from pub cooking. Highly recommended on all counts.

Greeted and welcomed by a friendly guy (guessing the top boss) Sadly my starter was cold but not an issue it was taken away with a multitude of options. Main Course well where do I start. Belly pork rib absolutely to die for, melt in the mouth and what a size. Lasagna was tasty and plentiful. Pudding was oversize but beautiful Very friendly atmosphere and great team of staff. Had to wait an hour for food, but the they were very busy and wait was worth it.

Just the loveliest people. My mum remarked that she liked the colour of the walls, and wanted to paint her living room that colour, and the pub owner gave her the pot of paint!! Food was delicious, huge array of vegan options. The roast in particular was plentiful and gorgeous, including a vegan cauliflower cheese (ask ahead of time to ensure you get it), nut roast, and all the vegetable trimmings. Very tasty vegan chocolate fudge cake (one of around four vegan dessert options) with custard, whipped cream or ice cream if you want :) My mum said it was the most attentive and considerate customer service she’d ever had — and that was BEFORE the paint gift. Can’t wait to go back. Tip generously to this lovely gang and do order the vegan options :)

We passed the Nags Head on a cold, dull wintery Sunday and it looked warm and inviting with a suitable number of cars in the car park. We called 'Mac' saying that we were passing and were they doing lunch and he welcomed us in. What an excellent choice! The roast beef was perfectly cooked and delicious as was the pudding of sticky toffee apple crumble. The fire was roaring, the food was delicious, Butty Bach on tap, a warm welcome and super attentive service, what more could you want? Thank you all!

Absolutely superb food and choice! Any vegetarians or Vegans will be very well catered for, as well as everyone else. So much choice too! Staff couldn't do enough for us. Great ambiance, pretty fairy lights and wood burners. Nice wine selection too. Best Plant-Based food I have had in a long time!

Served 2 vegetarians meals with meat, and then a cold Sunday roast - Coke Zero is also not a substitute for normal coke before a long drive, which wasn’t mentioned prior to delivering.

Really friendly staff, with great knowledge of menu. Massive menu and all of it fabulous food! The largest choice of vegan food I have ever experienced. I felt very looked after. At least 8 Vegan dishes within Starters, Mains and Deserts. So much choice. And even more for vegetarians and carni's. Lovely atmosphere, log burners and twinkly fairy lights. I can't wait to go again. Ample free parking and nice garden.

Had a lovely Carvery at the Nags Head today , it was nice and hot ,and very tasty the staff were all really pleasant and polite ,.. the service was excellent . Will definitely be going again .

Lovely food great staff, made to feel welcome.

Visited Saturday early evening. 1st Visit. We ordered starters (breaded brie & salad, breaded squid & salad, pork belly & black pudding & salad). Each dish was really well cooked and tasty and there was just the correct amount (but not too much). We then had Hunter's chicken & fries, scampi & fries and finally a Badami curry (with bhaji, rice and popadom and dips). All the dishes were really well cooked and decent portions. We had no room for deserts. Service was also very good and polite and speedy. Will definitely go back.

Our last meal out having spent a great hot week in Herefordshire, we choose Nags Head Freehouse and Wonkey Donkey Bar. We had the Thursday Steak night, 6oz Burger with Bacon & Cheese and the Special Linguine with Chicken & Mushroom (a little too peppery). Food arrived piping hot and service was great too. Would recommend at least 1 meal here well worth the trip.

Great character pub with good beers and nice garden. Had a meal for 5 here and everyone had something different and all enjoyed it.

Visited for the first time on Friday night hubby booked it for my birthday. Food was fantastic and the service was above and beyond from all staff. They made me feel so special on my birthday. So good we booked to go back today for Sunday lunch for our wedding anniversary and was greeted with a 'happy anniversary" from landlord and staff. The little things they do on these occasions were unexpected but made them special and were truly appreciated. We will need no excuse to go back 😀

Sunday lunch, chicken dinner, chicken 2 slices no bigger than a £5 note, 2 stem of tender stem broccoli, Table spoon of carrots, 3 small roast potatoes, ladle of peas, little bit of stuffing, and pale gravy, not impressed, no parsnips, no Yorkshire pudding, very basic, lacking flavour for the money sorry but will not be returning. Sorry wrong nags head.

had booked in for sunday lunch at 1 pm but a49 was blocked both ways due to accident phoned to say going to be late restaurant was verygood kept our table for 50 minson on arivel landlord was very good pleased we got here safe i had roast beef wife had pork son had turkey good sized porsions and a good price service was very good would go back agian

We had a really tasty meal and the service was excellent. However, my husband was taken poorly when our meal was served and was unable to eat his food....the landlord was brilliant, he bent over backwards to help and even took the cost of my husbands meal off the bill. It wasn't something we would have expected as we had ordered the food and it was no fault if the landlord hubby couldn't eat it. SO kind and thoughtful, we would definitely recommend this pub to our friends and family. A gesture like this goes a long way so thank you Nags Head!

Wonderful buffet for 40 which would have fed 50 easily. Wide variety including gluten free vegetarian and Elal options.

Excellent hospitality and service, food was very good but my beef was slightly ‘over done’ but in a Poe that’s ok. Mrs S scampi was top drawer. Will definitely be here again and would recommend to anyone looking for very good food and excellent hospitality

We called late on a Sunday (everywhere else from Forest of Dean to Ross to Hereford was closed for food) and the lovely man (I assume the owner) said that although. they were closed, we could sit outside and have food and that he would 'look after us.' We were overjoyed having failed miserably to get food anywhere else after a long day biking with two kids. The 6 of us absolutely loved the food. We were a bit cold but that's because we were wearing shorts and t-shirts at 8pm! The kids loved the playground and the food was good and the beer was cold! Highly recommend, lovely people - great staff (the new girl was fab!) and good vibes all around. Thank you! 😊

Lovely beer garden . Great welcome from all the staff. All covid rules well set up . Lovely to try a glass of Robinsons cider and a lovely meal of a lovely menu. Looking forward to returning soon.
