I visited the prince of wales many years ago , as I was in the area I popped in for a quick pint and something to eat, the pub hadn’t changed one bit , it still retains its old world charm. It is nestled in a little lane of the high street surrounded by similar 15th century buildings. In all a little gem and will return when in the area. If you like old historical buildings this place is a must

Moved to Ledbury 18 months ago and this is pretty much the only pub I go in. Nothing wrong with the others but the range of ales here is superb and well kept. Mix of clientele and whenever me, the Mrs or adult kids have been in we’ve never felt out of place. Bar staff are sound and the Sunday dinner is a bargain.

We visited The Prince of Wales pub yesterday afternoon and were shocked to see a MAGA hat hung up by the entrance. One of our party turned the hat around so the messaging wasn’t visible to everyone as it seemed to us to be in extremely bad taste. The people behind us mentioned to us they had also noticed it, and said they uncomfortable with it and didn’t like looking at it. We thought at best this was someone’s idea of a bad joke, and at worst something far more sinister. At some point the hat was turned back around to display the message without us noticing, which seemed odd. We were sat in the route from the kitchen for staff so when a waiter came past I asked if he knew if the hat was some kind of joke to which he replied “uh no” and carried on walking. This floored us, and when a waitress came past shortly afterwards, I mentioned what her colleague had said about the hat and asked if she knew about it, to which she replied “It’s just someone’s hat”. We finished our drinks and left and won’t be back. We are unsure of who the hat belonged to, staff or customer? But I’d be interested to know which part of the message this hat stands for is not a joke to The Prince of Wales pub; the racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia or ableism? I can’t help but worry what this precedes for Ledbury and would hate to think how vulnerable members of the community, and visitors to Ledbury would feel visiting this pub and seeing such an overt display of intolerance in a place described on your website as ‘welcoming’.

Abortive Christmas Shopping trip one Sunday in December as all the shops were closed and so I called in for a pint. The menu offered vegan options and so I had the vegan mushroom and chestnut pie with mash peas and gravy. It was the best vegan pub meal I've ever had and such a lovely ambience that I also had a pint and a half of their excellent range of beers. The meal was £10.50 and loads better than the posh expensive meal I had recently at a restaurant which was 3 times more expensive.

Over a year since visiting Ledbury. We don't live so far away and have always enjoyed our visits, so decided on a browse and pub lunch would be a nice treat, as we had a day's break. The atmosphere and place was very nice - clean, interesting with helpful and friendly staff. The beer was excellent. So disappointed in the food though. We had jumbo cod and chips, which definitely wasn't jumbo! The batter was terrible and hardly any fish inside - massively overcooked too. Chips were OK and tartar sauce and so on, but it was a very poor and left a bad taste in our mouths and bad feeling, as we reflected afterwards that we should have mentioned our disappointment. Don't think you should advertise Fish on Friday as a special thing unless it is at least slightly special. (it ruined our day a little :0( ) Hopefully you will improve this, as it is very nice in other ways.

Passed through Ledbury on our way back home from Hay on Wye to Leicester. Found this place from a recommendation by a local in another pub (the particular pub had stopped serving food as it was a Sunday). Luckily the Prince of Wales serves food from 12 until late, so for a Sunday we were initially pleased with just that as it was 6pm. Walked through the door and instantly loved the place. A real traditional cosy pub that is clearly loved by the locals. Atmosphere was spot on. After a bit of helpful consultation with the friendly pub staff, we ordered fish and chips and the vegan pie from the specials board. Absolutely banging food! Saved room for dessert, warm choc fudge cake and sticky ginger pudding! Delicious. What a find this place is. If you’re passing through or visiting town, take yourself here for a really traditional and excellent experience. Hope our paths cross again some day. Cheers.

In delightful Ledbury, we chanced upon The Prince of Wales for a quick snack lunch...and very good it was too. The P o W is tucked up a side street (Church Lane) in the town centre, and is a bit 'tardis' like i e a lot larger inside than you'd think from the outside. This is a really friendly local pub with quite a history, and a good range of drinks with a simple bar menu. My wife and I had a drink and a sandwich each, for which I paid £20. The sandwiches were fine - certainly nothing to complain about - but ordinary, so I'm giving this review 4* because of the friendliness and ambience of this proper pub. Recommended.

Fantastic meal, and such a delight that the Stagg Inn, now reopened under a lovely, family team with a top chef, is now back to 'the Stagg' that my partner and I have known and loved for, well, getting on for 30 years. Halibut in a good strong lobster sauce served with samphire; local dry aged fillet steak done rare, exactly as requested, with peppercorn and thyme sauce, oyster mushroom, and great big fat crispy chips; starters were prawns marie rose in a tangy sauce, and scallopsnwitblack pudding, and garlic and herb butter. And, as if inheriting the old Stagg DNA, cointreau and nutmeg creme brulee and baked orange cheesecake as desserts. And local ale Butty Bach on tap. I very much regret to have read one or two unwarrantedly snarky recent reviews on this site, which is why I'm posting this one. Yes, their ebulliant staff member, a delightful and seriously accomplished young person, undertakes diligently her duties of ensuring that diners are happy with the service; which we were. Yes, the restaurant has been tastefully refurbished, ahead of reopening under this great new team. Is Actually, that is as one might expect. And finally, yes, they're not the cheapest, but that's because they're a seriously good restaurant with a Michelin star. And friendly too. Superb meal - well done, guys!
