Little Channels at the Cliffords Estate in Chelmsford

Having booked for a friend for her retirement gift we booked a table for today. It we great from start to booking the table to actually leaving earlier this afternoon. The staff were polite and friendly. We had afternoon Tea booked and our reservation was set. We were brought more than enough savoury and desserts. All was very nice and filled us up for the rest of the day. Would definitely book again.

Fabulous lunch and great value! Would definitely recommend and would like to do the afternoon tea next time , bottomless one of course!

My friends & I revisited today & wasn’t disappointed with the food we chose. The waitresses were friendly, polite & helpful As a Blue Badge holder I noticed 2 disabled bays have now been designated close walking distance to the small brassiere which was very helpful

Thoroughly enjoyable visit for the luxury afternoon tea. Staff always visible so service was prompt and efficient as well as friendly. Birthday brunch / lunch date the family. Great choice of food on offer with breakfast / brunch dishes available all day plus hot and cold food. Generous portions and very fresh food. We all really enjoyed our choices and will definitely return again.

We had a baby shower in the barn and it was excellent. I cannot compliment enough the venue setting, staff on the day, food excellent and atmosphere. The compliments everyone gave and said it was exceptional, were great. I wish I knew the young ladies name who looked after us on the 8th June as sge was so accommodating and went more than the extra mile. I would highly recommend the barn for any event.

No laptops allowed, americanos from a sachet (for £3 each a go), terrible attitude from staff. Really disappointed, would recommended avoiding at all costs. Channels a touch further down offer superb customer service, welcoming to all, and don't charge £3 for sachet coffees.

Excellent night for our Christmas party. Tables looked amazing and food was delicious Thankyou. Wine prices way too much however. My friends didn’t mind paying, which didn’t stop them from enjoying the evening. Buck’s Fizz on arrival was a good touch.

Works meal and party for Christmas celebrations which were a little underwhelming. The meal here this year, was probably the best one in the last 3 years I've attended. The building is beautifully decorated and looks amazing. The seating is pristine and comfortable and the drinks are priced as any other venue during this time of year for these types of events. However, the ambience, DJ and staff bring it down like the nightmare before Christmas. To continue to host these celebratory evenings, i suggest a reshuffle is needed. Especially in the DJ department.

Not impressed. Booked for a luxury afternoon tea to celebrate a baby shower. Service very slow and waitresses surly and quite rude. Pretty much ignored most of the time. Afternoon tea stands and plates not cleared away despite being only table left there so swamped by flies and wasps. Food was good but experience ruined by poor service.

Wasn’t great experience to be honest We arrived and found our table was right by h the toilet however there was many tables empty at the back, so we asked to go outside which the weather wasn’t great We asked for the glass of Prosecco to be served when we had food, this didn’t happen I had to go in and ask for this, only to be served the bottom of one bottle as it was flat and the other one had bubbles. So again I had to get up and take it back and ask for another glass The baguette roll was hard, the coronation chicken sandwich was thin and we didn’t eat it We was served a flat glass of Prosecco which I returned and asked for another. So from the start of our experience, right from the beginning was not great at all and we would not recommend anyone coming to afternoon tea at Chanel’s to be honest

We were very privileged to celebrate a 60th Wedding Anniversary at Little Channels (quite rare these days). The Bistro was a perfect choice for this celebration, partly because the room was an ideal size and beautifully decorated. Also, more importantly, the food and service from the staff was outstanding! Special thanks to the two chefs, Jack and Yulia, absolutely fantastic food. Now to thank the serving/bar staff and management, Danielle and Morgan, they were amazing hosts (I say hosts, because it felt like they were a part of the family). I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone who has a special occasion to celebrate. Well done to all at Little Channels!

Lovely fresh savoury options including quiche and sausage roll, veggie/vegan options available too. Good little cakes and scones with jam and clotted cream, all presented nicely on a wooden stand. Staff were friendly and regularly checked whether we wanted more tea and we were not rushed at all. It’s in a lovely barn with high ceilings, quite casual and very clean. They do lunches in there too and because we sat down at 12:30 there were people meeting for coffee and golfers eating after a game. Plenty of food and good value for an informal afternoon tea.

We had a lovely afternoon tea at Little Channels for our Ladies Group. The food was delicious and plenty of it. Many of us asked, and were given cardboard boxes to take home the food we could not eat. A very enjoyable afternoon, served efficiently and with a smile. Always a bonus !

We arrived without a booking and enquired about afternoon tea. Staff checked and were happy to accommodate us on this occasion. Friendly, efficient service and a wonderful afternoon tea! We had our second visit to Little Channels for the luxury afternoon tea. The food was delicious and beautifully presented same as before. Slow service concentration of staff on larger seating area. Only two staff on and after waiting 20 minutes we left. People who had food were still waiting to pay long after finishing their fayre. I realise that there was a problem with one bar but the solution of slow service is not the best one.

Ordered an afternoon tea to takeaway for father's day, and I was very impressed! The sandwiches came on different types of bread and all tasted very fresh. The sausage roll was particularly good. The scones were good and so were the cakes. The portions were very generous and we ended up having it for lunch and dinner. The pick up process was well thought through and very easy and professional. The prices arent cheap but we both agreed it was good value for money. We will definitely order another one when we want to treat ourselves.Obviously we would rather go to Little Channels for an afternoon tea, but in lockdown this is the next best thing. Also it's great to be able to support a local business during these difficult times.

Afternoon tea Delicious! Second afternoon tea at Little Channels in 18 months. Menu has been updated which was a nice change! Always generous with all food but especially the savoury, which I find is unusual at a lot of venues! More than good value for money and staff were as friendly as always (even with a large group of us!). Another great time at Little Channels -so very impressed. Young lady called Lizzy more than looked after me. Food amazing, particularly impressed at my friends’ vegan & pescatarian meals. First visit here. Done several afternoon teas. Wanted to take our son and his Japanese fiancé to one whilst they were visiting as never experienced one. We were not disappointed. Everything was fresh home cooked and delicious. We were so full. Service great. Venue perfect. Will return.

Cannot fault this venue! Have had various celebrations over the years here. 40th and 70th birthdays, golden wedding anniversary, my mother’s 95th birthday and sadly her wake! We have had sit down menu, buffet menu and also the afternoon tea! Food and service always perfect! Totally recommend it!

Venue- good choice for a small wedding

Although channels is a beautiful venue and a superb choice for a wedding be careful when choosing recommendations made in their brochures. When deciding a wedding please do your research very very thoroughly as to who you use to take your photos and look to other places other than those recommended. Companies recommended,specifically the wedding photographer/videogreapher, may not be what they appear. Glossy magazines adverts and venue recommendations should definitely not be taken at face value and from experience the reason people appear in these magazines or venue brochures is because thry have paid the venue a significant amount of money to appear in them rather than being actual nice people and people who have a love of photography and want to do thr best for you on your special day.which may explain why they charge more aswell. Remember these Places and people are business and at the end of thr day just want your money. Remember photography is a massive part of your day and a huge part of the budget so I reccommend you spend it wisely so as to not feel as badly treated as I do.

It was our friends wedding yesterday at little channels and what a day it was. The venue is perfect for a intimate wedding. The weather was beautiful. The staff were so helpful. Danielle the wedding organiser was on it and she made sure everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious. I couldn’t fault it. Such a great day. Plenty of space for all the guests. It was great. We held our Golden Wedding Anniversary Party at Little Channels. We wanted a family orientated informal bbq and the team, headed by Jason, excelled at everything. There were over 70 guests including young children. We were able to have a separate table for the children to do the activities that I had taken in for them. Nothing was too much trouble for Jason and his team, the food was excellent and the staff were very experienced and quick at serving. This was all despite being one of the hottest days of the year. The children were catered for first, and this worked well. . It really was a lovely occasion and I have had so many positive comments from our guests. I would recommend it to anyone. Well done Little Channels!
