The perfect local watering hole, only one downside it is so welcoming I pop in for a couple and it's closing time before you know it 😜

Went in to meet friends and was amazed how busy it was! Too busy in fact, wherever I stood I was in the way and no seats available. Due to how busy it was it also took a while to get served. A little harsh to down rate a pub for being popular, but it wasn’t the best experience.

Great atmosphere now things are opening up again. Still doing a fine Karaoke on Saturday and the mix of regulars is testimony to the way this pub is run.

Mike, Tina and Paige are the friendliest landlord and landlady you'll ever get to meet. You are guaranteed a friendly warm welcome in a laid back relaxed atmosphere with fun lovely people. The kitchen is clean and the food fab and reasonable. Christmas day the atmosphere is brilliant, Tina, Mike and Paige even make christmas lunch for those locals on their own on christmas day in the pub. They have hearts of gold and they really are the best people who work extremely long hours. I don't agree with anything bad about this pub n its landlord n landlady.

I hadn’t been in the talbot head for a long time but my husband and I started to go in around August 2019. This quickly became our local. The owners and staff are very welcoming and this is something that is hard to find locally! This made a huge difference and we have never had a bad experience. The atmosphere is great when sports are on! Karaoke nights are fab and there is always someone to talk to. If you are looking for a friendly place to go The Talbots head is definitely worth a visit , there is something for everyone! The place has a real pub feel with the added bonus of having a food menu!... Never had a bad meal And the food is lovely, reasonably priced and well presented!

We regularly eat here. The food is always excellent. Simple fayre cooked to perfection. The staff are always pleasant and Mike and Tina are wonderful hosts. Always have time for a chat even when they’re rushed off their feet cooking and serving scrumptious food. The menu is reasonably priced. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Sunday lunch is brill, breakfast is just what you need on a Sunday morning! Food is always up to a great standard and the atmosphere is so welcoming! Staff make sure you feel welcome all the time, the sort of pub you could walk into on your own and feel comfortable.

Just had a wonderful tradition Sunday roast, with a large glass of Malbec, £12:40, all in, quality, quality.

NOT a pleasant experience, I went on a recommendation last week, the menu looked inviting but the food was bland and tasteless, we was served a drink at the bar by a man in T- shirt, shorts & flip flops, then he took my order a little later and proceeded to the kitchens which I found a touch unhygienic for a modern working kitchen if there is something I don’t wish to see in a restaurant its bare feet. The lady brought our food which we did struggle with and deffo will not re-visit

had really good meal at the talbot. the food was fresh,hot and really tasty. The portions are quite large so don't eat before you go. Mike and Tina are really friendly and make you feel welcome. There is a nice beer garden outside. We will definately be going there again and would highly reccomend.

Running a pub in this day and age is difficult. Mike, Tina and Paige put their heart and soul into it. The locals are all welcoming which really stems for the Walsh family. The recent facelift has changed the dynamic for the better. Great atmosphere when there's sport on. If you're looking for overpriced gins ir cocktails, they'll book you a taxi. If you want a friendly pint or good value pub food, look no further.

Visited the Talbot Head, Sunday 7th July 2019, for breakfast service fantastic price and quality of food first class.

Went with family for a Sunday lunch from recommendations and was not disappointed there was a selection of meats and the option to try all. everything was fresh and hot with a very generous potion.

We booked a meal as it looked nice from outside. wished we hadn't bothered. The food area was empty but we decided to stay. The food took 45 minutes to come from time of ordereing. We asked why it had taken so long we were advised that they could only go as quick as the cooker, It was good job the place was empty as god knows how long it would have taken. We never got an apology for the length of time taken. We never got asked if we enjoyed the food. The chef was in was just in a t shirt and shorts- not a good advertisement. We were really disappointed with the experience!!!! Would hv given lower score but cldnt do.

visited the pub for lunch yesterday 27th April 2019 - great bar service - and food was delicious served piping hot - prices are good furnishings are relaxing and very comfortable thanks to Paige, Fern for the cooking (just delicious) and Tina and Mark will of definitely visit again very soon susan

First time in this pub as my partner has just moved to the area. We decided to eat. Lovely modern pub and the food and service were excellent. We went for a sharing platter which included 5 dishes for £15.95. Great value for money and even though 1 of the items had run out the chef made us a variation which was delicious. Great atmosphere on a Saturday night. The manager went above and beyond to accommodate us. Will definitely return.

Always well hosted. Mein Hosts Mike and Tina, ably assisted by their fun seeking daughter' Paige are forever welcoming which encourages a warm clientele. It comes alive during football and on a Saturday night. There are worst places to turn your money into memories. Give it a go.

We go to the Talbots Head every few weeks for a tea after work. Mike and Tina are extremely friendly and welcoming as are all their staff. Great pub food at great prices and the pub has just had a fabulous makeover. If you've not been for a while, it's well worth the effort.

Just been refurbished and still as good as always . It perfectly straddles the line of good food , good beer and still retains that charm of a proper boozer . Probably the best landlord and landlady in Rochdale at the moment . I'm old and I've seen em all come and go, these two care and bloody good at running a proper pub .

Really good value for money to eat here. The food portions are generous, it's tasty and worth every penny. Mike and Tina along with their daughter Paige, are very welcoming hosts and make everyone feel very welcome. Pubs may be dying out across the UK, but ones like this, I am sure, will endure. The drinks are reasonable and they even have Karaoke every Saturday, but around the corner so it doesn't disturb those that want a more intimate drink.

La comida es genial y es muy abundante, Becky el chef no le gusta a nadie ir a casa con hambre! ! Definitivamente puedo recomendar las albóndigas;) Las tapas platos son una excelente opción. El propietario es muy amable y trabajaba como son las camareras. Pub con ambiente agradable y tranquilo. Sin duda merece la pena una visita.

Visitamos como una familia de 5. 3 tenía un curry, 1 Tapas y tuve Cumberland salchichas, patatas fritas y huevos (con comida).

Hadn't been to the Tobes Head in a long time due to moving away but called in during a recent trip and was pleasantly surprised. The staff offer a really warm welcome and although the place was busy I was served very quickly. I opted for the Tapas and Becki the pub chef was quick to bring the menu and happy to chat and make suggestions. The Tapas was delicious and piping hot with a lot of variety on offer, I was gobsmacked at the value of the dishes too.I won't leave it too long until I visit next time ;)

Visit this pub regularly to have a drink/watch the football. The family that run the business are so down to earth and welcoming. Love the food, Sunday dinners are my favourite and so well priced. Can't wait to try the tapas.

My daughters and I really enjoy regularly eating out here and the pies are simply scrumptious.The atmosphere is welcoming, homely and friendly, the staff are charming, the service is superb and the price is very reasonable.We will be again back soon.

Had a lovely tapas tonight, there were 10 of us and the food was lovely, compliments to the cook plenty of dishes, everything was piping hot, really good service would recommend this place.

The food was basic fair enough, but the quality was really poor, I had pie, pastry hard and tasted really fatty, no meat in pie, really disappointed

Had a lovely meal here today. I often order a mixed grill for a mid-afternoon meal when I'm out, well this was a real challenge! Must have been about double what I expected. Generous portions of gammon, pork, steak, lamb and sausage served with equally generous portions of chips, onion rings, peas, mushrooms, tomato, black pudding and a fried egg. All this arrived on a large oval serving tray. Everything was well cooked and delicious. Yes, I ate the lot!!Excellent little pub with welcoming staff and excellent service. I shall return!

Had another great family meal !The cook she is fantastic any of my children's little extras to there meals are catered for nothing is to much to ask!Had a lovely steak. Peppercorn sauce is amazing best I have ever had my wife enjoyed the salmon . Been to this pub as I and my friends was told at La Mancha that if we love tapas we should try this bar ( new owners+new chef) every Friday and Saturday they do a tapas menu. We decided to give it ago tonight after booking in a week in advance and I and the other 3 in the party can say this was the most beautiful most tasty most authentic tapas we have ever had don't let the low price fool you are not getting a cheap rush meal it is amazing!!!!!!!!!! That staff the owners Mike and Tina are so down to earth and welcoming and the chef needs a knight hood for producing such amazing dishes....... THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN TO THE TALBOT HEAD TINA MIKE AND ALL THE STAFF FOR A GORGEOUS MEAL GREAT DRINKS AND A VERYYYYY FRIENDLY WELCOMING .

I visited early evening with my son. The menu isn't huge, but had a good selection of good English food. I had the rag pudding, which is one of the best I've had. My son had the chilli. Service was quick and very friendly. Our plates were full and the food excellent. Would definitely go again.

What a good idea it was to go out and eat here instead of ordering our usual Sunday take a way.Our plates where piled with tasty food which we ate Al fresco in the garden.My boyfriend made yummy noises as he tucked into his lasagne and my cheese and onion pie was cooked to perfection I'm just sorry I couldn't eat all of it!Nice friendly staff waited on us hand and foot.Worth every penny.

Visited The Talbot Head as quite a large group with some of our party bringing children. We pre-booked and had a large area reserved and set up lovely- table flowers and toys for the children.Fantastic value food we had 3 courses for less than £12... And it was all home cooked/ home made.The chef was a delightful lady who was only too happy to help and adapt dishes for preference. Lovely manner to her and was really good catering for the children. I had salt and pepper chicken strips with sweet chilli starter, lasagne, chips and salad with garlic bread main (that in itself could have fed 2 it was huge and really tasty lasagne) and apple and rhubarb crumble with custard .... I just managed to squeeze that in.Bar staff were very friendly and drinks reasonable prices.It's the first time I've been here and I think it has new owners, but I spotted the mid-week tapas menu, Sunday lunch and also curry club.... I will definitely be back!

Very good food, reasonably priced, very friendly and helpful staff. Only Friday and Saturday for tapas but also do a good Sunday lunch. Need to advertise that they do food as you would not know just by passing.

Even though we only live half a mile from the Talbot we'd never actually eaten there so on the advice of a couple of friends we thought we would give it a go. We went on a Friday evening around seven. we ordered drinks and asked for menus, as it was a nice evening we sat on the terrace in the Sun while our drinks and menus were brought to us. while the menu did offer the usual pub fayre including the obligatory Sunday lunch I was surprised to see that Tapas was available twice a week,.... Tapas in Shawclough ? .. I had to try it.. there were quite a few dishes available and I chose the chorizo with caramalised onion, beef strips with peppers and stuffed jalapeños while the wife had chicken in garlic and cream salt n pepper squid and the meatballs..... neither of us could find fault in either the presentation or the taste and if we'd have known the dishes were large enough to share we would have stuck to 3 dishes instead of 6 ! It cost us 30 quid for a very pleasant couple of hours out with everything included, excellent food, excellent service ... and we didn't need a taxi home either ..... I'd gladly recommend it to anyone.

Took the family for our sunday dinner, me and the husband has a lovely roast beef dinner that was far to big to finish. our three kids are really picky but nothing was too much trouble for the very friendly kitchen staff. Will will definatley be back soon.
