Hare and Hounds in Rochdale

The welcoming was very warm, however, it was very cold inside the pub. The food was absolutely fabulous the chips home cooked and presentation was lovely. Claire was very attentive. The food is just as good if not better than the previous cook. You Must pay it a visit.

Spot on as usual , the scotch egg on the specials menu was the showstopper this visit, and the bao buns did not disappoint either absolutely love it here !

Visited the Hare and Hounds today. We hadn’t booked a table but the friendly staff got us a table straight away. I chose something from the specials menu. It was absolutely delicious. Prawn and scallop linguine followed by a creamy crème brûlée.

Absolutely love going to the Hare and Hounds. The food never disappoints us. Today we had 3 courses from the specials menu. Fabulous as usual. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Love this place, been going on & off since I was a child as my parent played in their football team back in the day, bar staff are lovely, food is excellent & love the quiz on a Thursday, no doubt I’ll be back again from the Isle of Wight

Had a meal here for a family birthday, there was a lovely choice of food and staff were very friendly. It was very easy to locate the venue and it has off road parking for about 15 cars.

2nd time we have eaten here now and food is delicious 😋 we came all the way from Huddersfield to meet friends and it is absolutely worth the visit. Had the soup and roast dinner and could not have picked better. Will definitely be going back.

First time here ,& won't be the last Delicious Sunday Roast ,plenty of Veg the Beef melted in my mouth 100% recommend 👌 one small moan ,not enough Mash ! But everything else superb xx

This was my second visit to this beautiful little pub and I honestly love it even more! The food was gorgeous & a wonderful mouthwatering menu to cater for all, nothing is too much trouble & Clare goes above & beyond to welcome you in & make you feel at home. You can tell she holds a wealth of experience in this industry & it shows. The staff are lovely & accommodating with a fabulous range of drinks to choose from. I had a look at the beer garden & I hope we can get some dry weather so it can be enjoyed by all. I can’t wait to go back, would highly recommend.

Myself and 3 friends went to the Hare and Hounds on a recommendation, we live in Heywood so drove to Middleton, and I'm so glad we did. We've found a gem of a place, the pub is lovely and the staff are so friendly, they went above and beyond, to us first walking in and getting our table, nothing was too much for them. The food was so delicious, we had the steak and Ale pie with chips, the pie was homemade with plenty of steak and very tasty, the peppercorn steak hot Baguette was amazing the beef was so nice. Would definitely come back and try the rest of the menu. Delicious and 5 star food, highly recommend.

Been here 4 times now tried different meals food is always fresh hot and is amazing. Staff are always happy to help and table service is great. Family run pub and great for children definitely highly recommended.

I’ve been in hare and hounds before and after new management and the difference is unbelievable wow! 🙀 really enjoy visiting now and have been many times as I’m a local and the food is delicious. The staff are so friendly and welcoming x guaranteed a decent home made meal and a good pint x

I have been here a few times with my family since the new owners have taken over. The food is delicious and definitely large potions. Beer is on point and definitely will be back again.

We took a chance on this place and I'm so glad we did. The steak is legendary, the chef knows what medium rare means, absolute legend, if you're having steak go for the sirloin with Dianne sauce, I could eat it every day of the week, service was great, lots of smiles and a warm atmosphere, glass was never empty. Reasonably priced. Would highly recommend, we will definitely be going back 🙂🙂🙂

My gran’s funeral was held here and they were the best and loveliest staff we could’ve asked for. Will definitely be coming again to support this business, these people are amazing x

Just had Sunday lunch at the H&H Middleton, (Jan 25) what a fantastic selection of food to suit every taste and at a reasonable price. Great service by all the staff, front of house and rear, nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommended this place, save us a seat we will be back. 👍👍👍

Visited as a party of 5 on 4/1/24 . Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We all ordered different meals from the menu , lasagne, burger ( not your average burger ) fish snd chips ,Cajun chicken sandwich & chicken with pepper and mushroom sauce. Presentation was spot on , they all looked appetising. Everybody was pleased with what they ordered , well cooked and really tasty. Staff were really helpful, bringing the drinks from the bar for us . All in all a really nice meal in a lovely pub with lovely staff .

Booked ahead, I'd heard weekend bookings are advisable; the phone was answered promptly and politely. We were greeted by smiling staff, offered menus and Louise and Claire were happy to advise and answer questions about the menu, they a good knowledge of the menu. Drinks were table served, enabling us sit back, relax and enjoy family time. I ordered Prawn Gambas, which was absolutely delicious and a nice portion size. For my main I asked if chicken could be changed to prawns, it could... Proving the food is freshly prepared unlike other local establishments. For desert I chose the christmas crumble which was seasonally spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg... A good portion of Christmas in a dish! The table was cleared efficiently and timely and we were left to chat and socialise without feeling rushed. There was gentle background music which wasn't too over powering. The refurb of the pub is lovely, decorating and painting is done to a very high quality... Wish I had their decorator's details! Alcohol free fruit cider was available for myself, and Peroni on tap was a nice Suprise for my father. Parking is adjacent to the pub and had plenty of space. Overall this is a welcome addition to the local area, higher quality and more freshly prepared than the usual pub chain menus I'm confident the new owners will make a great success of The Claire & Hounds.

We had a large group of 17 people and I can honestly say that the food was lovely and the service was fab. I would defo go back.

They accommodated a large group of us (17) in a separate area of the pub so we could all be together. They had a delicious Christmas menu with loads of options but also let us order off the main menu were very accommodating for vegetarians and picky eaters. Staff were lovely and the food was absolutely delicious!

Decided to visit last Saturday evening on the back of favourable "word of mouth" visits by my partners work colleagues, booked a table for 17.30, the phone was answered promptly and professionally. We arrived and was shown to our table by a friendly waitress (not sure if I can say that anymore!), the Pub is a series of tastefully decorated rooms, not the open plan type Barn that seems to be in vogue these days, this gave the occasion a more intimate atmosphere. There were 2 Menus on offer, one understandably being a Festive Menu, the other the House Menu, lots of choice on both, my Partner selected the Camembert Starter and Braised Beef from the Festive option and I went for the Chicken N'Blue with Jersey Royals & Fresh Vegetables. The food was excellent, the Camembert nice and gooey, the Braised Beef with Creamy Mash & Veg was melt in your mouth, the Chicken Dish was served as a mini Casserole in a Ramekin combining Chicken, Blue Cheese & Mushrooms, deeeelicious! Plenty of drink on offer at the well stocked Bar, I had the Paradise No 3 Pale Craft & my Partner opted for the Rum & Coke. We had a brief chat with our Waitress (Louise) and the Landlady (Claire) who was running front of house, both very friendly and represented this fairly new business who I would recommend you support, I know we'll be back in the New Year, thanks to the Staff behind the scenes, lovely experience, Merry Christmas & a Prosperous New Year to the Hare & Hounds.

First time we'd been since the new management came . It was really good and the staff are all excellent. We will be back.

Came in as a group for a birthday party. All the food arrived together which can sometimes be an issue in large groups. Food was really tasty and the service was excellent, will certainly return in the future.

Food was average I had a christmas dinner it was missing the pig in blanket and the roast potatoes were awful. I got charged £3 for a pint of lemonade that was actually soda water. The staff were lovely but the older lady in the bar with blonde hair needs a better attitude.

Recently been taken over and there was a worry the food wouldn’t be as good as before - no need to worry! The food service and staff are all brilliant! Good to be back at the hares!

Visted the hare and hounds yesterday, party of three adults. On entrance it was a welcoming pub, despite being buisy they managed to fit us in, the place is really clean and friendly. The place felt very relaxing and well kept lovely decor, plenty to look at while your waiting for your food. The staff did say there would be a wait for the food as they were buisy but to be fair the wait time was expected. My mates enjoyed their food , but let me tell you I had the cheese pie and it was sooooo good possible the best cheese pie I've had for a while, three cheeses it had , and the pastry was perfect, and them chips absolutely bob on perfection. We did travel from leigh and was well worth a visit, I am going to visit again as that pie was so good. Staff were nice not pushy or standing over you.

Excellent Christmas lunch today. Well managed for a group of 25. Food first class and great value for money. Staff polite and efficient. Will be back soon.

I popped in for a bit of lunch and service was prompt, the steak was as I like it ( medium rare) and overall the pub is welcoming with a warm cosy atmosphere. Price was reasonable too so I’ll be definitely popping my head ( and belly) in again soon.

Enjoy a delicious meal today. Steven and Claire are doing a great job. We both started with garlic mushrooms. I the has salt & pepper chicken burger and my husband had the steak & ale pie. Couldn't fault anything, the food and service are excellent. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed his goody box. We fill a small box with bits of our meals as a reward for being a good boy while we're out. We will definitely be back very soon.

Decent bar Which is local to me. Beer is reasonably priced, staff are nice and friendly. Food looks great and I've heard some good things about it but not tried it yet. It's on the list. I dont think you can use the bar now without eating. Tried the food twice now and it's pretty good honest pub grub! Can't fault it. 3 different meals orders and smashed. Service was great. Reasonably priced too.

Just had another lovely meal here the food is great. Massive portions cannot fault it been here a few times and never dissappointed would highly reccommend and the staff are great and very attentive. A must try if your hungry for good home cooked food

The food here is exceptional and delicious. The portions are generous and beautifully presented. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is cosy. In the summer months the gardens are glorious. I love spending an afternoon dining here.

Delicious Sunday roast, excellent value for money.

Absolutely delicious lamb shank went large and loved it, really big serving. Went for Sunday lunch 3 adults and sat in back room with no other guests so no real atmosphere from other dinners.

The 2 of us were heading to the airport from Wakefield and randomly chose the pub to eat at. The service was prompt, atmosphere comfortable, and the food delicious; we both had Lamb shank. I would certainly drive out, to eat here again.

Just got back from the hare and hounds. 4 of us and 2 children, we can not say anything negative about the place, food is always excellent, drinks are good and not to pricey. Thank you Hare and Hounds just been in to book a table for 16 people on Monday 11th December, you had no issues with adding an extra two chairs or numerous chairs to the booking if required, you have no issues if needed to transfer my £80 deposit ( you only needed £20) onto another date if for work commitments resulted in cancelling the 11th booking. a Far cry from the Old Boars head who made the adding of two extra chairs a big deal and only changed their minds after it was pointed out they would be losing a great deal of money on the 11th because I would cancel the whole booking over extra 2 chairs and would not transfer deposits if required, ( I get this because a deposit is that a deposit) however the whole customer service from the Old Boars head was shocking at booking I dread to think what it would be like once seated and food coming out.

This was my 2nd visit to the Hare and Hounds, the first being about 12 months ago, and both times the food has been excellent. A lot of pubs serve main meals with sandwiches, wraps and light bites included on the menu as what appears to be an after thought judging by the quality. However the Hare and Hounds takes care to ensure above average quality and variety across their menu. Prices are average. On this occasion I had fish, chips and mushy peas which is standard in most places but it was Friday! One of my companions had a Mexican chicken and mayo wrap accompanied by salad and chips and the other had crispy shredded beef, Chinese style, with 1/2 and 1/2 rice and chips. The staff are attentive without being fussy. I don’t live in the area but would have no hesitation about eating there again.

Best pub food for miles around. Cheese and onion pie simply a taste sensation, big portions too.

There were no cask beers available and the wine selection was poor. I had cheese and onion pie and chips. The pie was lovely but the chips may have been home made but not sure when. My partner had lamb shank which was really nice. The staff however were not very welcoming, this is our second visit but definately our last.

I stopped here to use the bathroom. They were really helpful.

Love it here, we do the quiz on Thursday most weeks and our little dog loves coming here and playing with the pub dog. The landlord is friendly and the atmosphere is always welcoming.

Went along with a group of people and dined in a side room. Very friendly service and good quality fayre. Well done to all involved.
