Fabulous lunch as always. Great menu choice and really fresh salad too. Hubby had a meal which enabled him to have mashed potato. Excellent as he was able to enjoy all of his food. I had a beautiful steak with all the trimmings, cooked per. Great food and drinks. Well done Alan Wendy.👍👍👍👏👏👏

Great find, very quirky little rustic cafe by a marina, inside and outside seating, basic food at good prices, the staff owners were very friendly 👌

A short walk from the end of the Cromford Canal, we received a warm welcome and two staggeringly well filled and tasty toasted sandwiches. Highly recommended.

We're at the point where Christmas and New Year are a distant memory (it's the 2nd of January!) - fancied a proper "old school" breakfast and that's exactly what we got. Generous portions and value for money - I even got to swap my beans for fried tomatoes (not tinned - tho' tinned are available). BTW beans are the vegetable of the Devil! 😀 Independent business (with an automotive theme) with loads of parking in a quiet industrial area, thoroughly recommended and we will be back. Thank you.

We visited the area to do a circular walk and was amazed that there were several places to eat, we chose The Happy Bap and so glad i did. I had one of the most freshest baps with brie and chilli jam absolutely gorgeous. The staff were very welcoming and pointed out that there was also a lovely little garden to sit in . We would definitely visit here again.

Memorable for all the wrong reasons. We ate here during the week before Christmas and based on the online reviews we were looking forward to a treat. The only positive was that the two people who were waiting on tables were friendly. I don't usually write reviews but this was so far away from what has been described that I would hate anyone to save up for a special occasion and have the experience that we did. First of all the room was crowded which is not ideal at the best of times but there had been no attempt to make space between the tables in the way that many restaurants have done as a response to the pandemic. They even fitted an extra table in while we were there and had to lock the front door to make room for it. We opted for the a la carte menu and my husband and daughter ordered starters which arrived in good time. They described them as ok although the terrine was not as tasty as one we made at home. We waited for the main courses. My husband's plate of beef was absolutely huge but with very little vegetables to accompany it. It was nothing like the delicate presentation shown on the pictures in other reviews. My slow roasted pork was a large lump of meat with thick white fat which had not been rendered down by the cooking process at all. The flesh was cooked but very tough and tasteless. It was sitting on a bed of one carrot and one parsnip. The carrot was floppy and cold, the parsnip so raw that it was impossible to cut. Luckily we had ordered a side dish of extra parsnips that were properly cooked. We ordered puddings then we waited, and waited, and waited.. Eventually the lemon posset arrived (ok but lacking in lemon flavour) and then my sticky toffee pudding. I took one mouthful and couldn't believe what it was like. The texture was glutinous, almost like frog spawn (ok I have never eaten frog spawn but you get the idea) and yet it tasted burnt. I began to wonder whether it was just my taste buds (Covid?) but my daughter took a mouthful and confirmed how bad it was. The waitress removed it to the kitchen and came back to say they wouldn't charge for it. I genuinely have no idea how they managed to get it like that. This is not a cheap restaurant and clearly they have in the past served some good food but if you are intending to go I would advise checking what is going on and whether the chef is on form or you could be very disappointed.

Me and my friend Annette stopped at The Shuckburgh Arms last Saturday until Sunday morning. We had such a lovely time we didn't want to leave. The hospitality of Georgia and Paul was absolutely fantastic they were so warming to us and made you feel very welcome. The evening meal and breakfast was really nice I would definitely come back again. The room was cosy and the bed was very comfy. Thank you Georgia and Paul.

Went for a Sunday lunch as had a personal recommendation from a former client. And we are really glad we went along it was only ten miles from where we live and often pass it on the A1 but never been in this time we made the effort and it was well worth it. All home cooked possibly with exception of the dessert but the roast and vegetables all local sourced and freshly cooked and what a treat, service was brilliant and friendly. They had only just opened up for lunch but we were happy to wait the plates nice and hot food with a separate gravy pot as well. would highly recommend ideal for families, couples, business people. clean modern and not a transport cafe so do not pass this one,
