Cotey's Restaurant in North Hertfordshire

Fantastic staff and the food was great! I stayed at the Redwings Lodge, which is behind Cotey’s, and they don’t do food so I went for dinner at Cotey’s. Lovely steak, massive portions and very reasonably priced, expertly cooked by Sonia the proprietor. Angela, our server, also offered to open 30 mins earlier the next morning so we could have a cooked breakfast!!

Reasonably priced. Comfortable seating. Licenced. Good choice of dishes for vegans. Friendly, helpful staff. Thank you!

Very impressed from the moment we stepped in to the moment we left. Excellent value for money, the food was perfect and the service was great. A good selection of food. We will definitely be coming back.

arrived for a 3pm reservation, by half 3 we’re still waiting for drinks orders to be taken & by 4:30 we was still waiting for food to come out. roast dinner wasn’t the best but for the price was ok. cheap & cheerful, service was just very slow, but again this could be because it was a sunday (wasn’t overly busy though)

This restaurant and its lovely staff represent a hidden gem. The picture of a fry-up on this site doesn't do the place justice! I had two brilliant roast meals with two courses, and the starters were just as good as the first class main courses. People at neighbouring tables, with one couple who had eaten out all over the world, were just as complimentary and enthusiastic as I for the value and obliging staff. There is even an equally good value but separate, hotel on site. That's called Redwings Hotel.

I loved it here so much! The food was amazing and I thought it was great value too. There were lots of options to choose from, including vegetarian options, which I really loved. Above all, the waitress was one of the loveliest people ever and she really made our experience. Thank you so much!

Great selection of Sunday Roasts. We were a big group of 13 so called ahead and they re-arranged the tables for us. Due to the size of the order our food did arrive in batches. Most of us had roast or kids roasts, which were all good. Decent size portions and friendly staff. Dog friendly too, even gave us a free sausage for the dogs.

Licenced . Good selection of dishes. Had to wait for food but we'll worth it good quality and portions. Obviously freshly cooked. Advice have a drink and a chat and wait .we'll worth it also very good value.

Ate here a few times whilst working in the area, great food at a reasonable price and handy when stopping in the lodge, not the largest selection but all very good.

Wow what a little gem .. I often pass this as it is on the A1 southbound just before the services turn off, but today I decided to have my breakfast there. Lovely eating environment and friendly service. I went for the big brekkie and an OJ .. Given their location, i felt the prices were fair and what you got was really good quality food (none of those awful cereal filled sausages ) . The added bonus is that they take the Blue light card and defense discount card so you get an extra 10% off of you bill. All in all a great experience and as Arnie said ' I will be back' ...

We are both in our mid eighties. Our Sunday lunch was excellent. Well cooked and despite ordering small portions, we were served a very hearty well cooked meal.

Food seemed to take ages. We had a burger and two ploughmen’s. Burger was burnt and raw in the middle. Ploughman’s were a bit random. Cheese ploughman’s had a lump of cheddar, crisps, salad, pickle onions, onion relish and a whole baguette. The same for the ham ploughman’s with the exception of no cheese. I notice the ploughmans pictured on here also have porkpie and pate so definitely lacked somewhat. Salad was covered in vinegar so unable to eat. Overall a bit disappointing being we have heard good things about here. Not for us!
