We went for lunch on my partner's birthday and from the welcome we received when we walked in, to the friendly goodbye when we left, everything was fantastic. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and excellent value for money. My new favourite pub.

A lovely 'proper village pub' serving a great roast. Portions were huge, food was tasty & service was very friendly & efficient. I gave 4 stars for atmosphere as whilst the ambient soft lighting was ok, I felt it was a little too dark in the restaurant. The bar area was lighter which made it feel brighter & more cheery. Would recommend

Enjoyed a Saturday lunch after a walk. Staff are friendly. Food is overall good, with big portions and gluten free options. GF sandwich was 2 small rolls, loads of chips, generous filling, plenty of salad. Couldn’t finish it all. Some of the decor is a bit scruffy, and could do with a lick of paint but generally it’s a nice place to go.

Lunchtime meet up here with family as a halfway house for us all, it turned out nice too so sat outside before meal. Good choice of beers to suit all tastes my favourite craft. Staff welcome was very friendly and loads of smiles. There were ten of us and we had a good table. The food was amazing and very large portions I had starter of Charcuterie board and main of Pork Tomahawk with warm savoy slaw which was amazing, I was last one finishing as huge meal, consequently no desert for me but I would have had the cheese board looked fabulous.

This gem of a pub is the real deal. Absolutely amazing place. The staff are brilliant. professional, efficient, Friendly & engaging and with a smile on their faces. It’s a busy little hub and clearly very popular and you can clearly tell why, with the first class service comes outstanding good food. Nice large portions that are flavoursome and tasty 😋. My hat goes off the the kitchen staff too as they are 100% on the ball. And just to top it off, I’m staying the night in their Carpark in my Campervan, for free 😁….. what’s not to like.

Have been here on quite a few occasions and have always been extremely pleased with the high level of the food and service, this pub is always packed and rightly so, however today have been there for a Sunday roast which is not our first here, vegetables were undercooked bordering on raw, beef was tough the Yorkshire puddings were dry, the only thing that was good was the chicken, we ordered desert and waited 20 minutes before leaving as we had already been sat for 2 hours and only had a main meal. We will continue to visit for meals but probably not the Sunday roasts. Going to put it down to them having a bad day and being over busy and

Preordered 4x mains from the Al a carte menu and order 4 starters on the day. All food was superb, nicely plated and good quality ingredients. Monkfish was unbelievable, a really well balanced dish and priced reasonably. The sun came out in style just after our arrival, we did well to book as the pub went from relatively quiet to brimming with atmosphere and full to the rafters within an hour. Our server Heather was fantastic, nothing too much trouble, she juggled the needs of all her tables whilst clearly very busy and skilfully managed wait times and service all whilst maintaining her wonderful smile. Really well done, four very impressed foodies

The service was incredible and with the pub extremely busy , the professional staff dealt with this extremely well , and all staff very well mannered, price including two rounds of drinks was a reasonable price, not seen this pub advertised much , buy I really don't think it needs too well done to everyone, look forward to my next visit

No bad feelings towards this pub but it really felt like a locals only pub. I ordered a drink to test this place out and the landlord did his best to be friendly and courteous. However I could tell by the cold body language of some of the bar staff and other locals sitting near the bar that I was interupting the atmosphere (felt like that). I knew from then that this wasnt the right place to stay and order food. Again I re-iterate I have nothing against this place, I've been to a few pubs like this and totally understand the historical reasons why they want to keep themselves to themselves.

What should have been a lovely family evening celebrating my dad’s 79th birthday was actually really disappointing. I made a booking several weeks in advance for 10 people at 7.30pm for Saturday 30th March. It would be my first time visiting The Fox and Duck and I was really looking forward to it. Sadly it didn’t live up to expectations, a friend had been for a meal recently and warned me they had waited ages, I should have listened. We arrived on time to be told our table wasn’t ready and we should get drinks at the bar. The bar area is not large with only a couple of seats, with 10 people in our party we felt like we were constantly in the way of people coming and going. After waiting 15 minutes I asked about our table, the member of staff wasn’t apologetic for the delay and told us it would be ready shortly and that it was just being laid. Once we had sat down we waited a further 40 minutes for a member of staff to take our orders, it’s now 8.30pm, over an hour after we’d arrived. One of our party ordered a starter of soup, everyone else just ordered mains. The one soup starter took over 15 minutes to arrive! At 9o’clock 1.5hrs after arriving I went to the bar as other than the one starter we had not received any food, not even a bread roll. The member of staff said she would check what was happening. The manager came over and wasn’t apologetic, he told us it was because someone had ordered a starter which held everything up, he said it takes 15 minutes to heat up soup (I doubt that very much). I found the managers attitude extremely rude, like it was our fault we had been waiting so long. When my mum tried to challenge him about it he rudely walked off shaking his head rather than apologising for the delays. When the food arrived it was distinctly average, not what you’d expect for what they are charging for some of their dishes. My son and husband ordered the “Foxy burger” hoping for a delicious, juicy, meaty burger with cheese in a toasted burger bun. Unfortunately what they received can only be described as a burger patty sandwich which came in an anemic under cooked ciabatta bread roll. Who serves a burger in ciabatta bread?! This was not mentioned on the menu. I didn’t complain at the table as I didn’t want to ruin our evening anymore than it already had been, if we’d started sending food back we would have died of starvation. The bill left a final bitter taste in my mouth at £320.00 I’ve eaten better food for a lot less, we will definitely not be returning.

Over the years we have come to accept that on Sundays especially the place is busy, buzzing and noisy! We had another superb lunch here today, with Ivan and his team looking after us every step of the way. The food was excellent, I can recommend the Red Snapper, and the roasts are huge, which is why my wife ordered the child's roast option. I went for the pork tomahawk while my wife had the monkfish, both lovely. I finished off with a crumble which was perfect for me as it wasn’t too sweet as some can be. Sadly, very disappointed, having read previous reviews. OH had the Sunday Roast, which was all fresh cooked produce and lovely. I had the Scampi and whilst the Scampi itself was good, the fries were just oven fries and they were drenched in salt. Seriously, I have never been presented a meal with that much salt on it. It made the fries inedible and I actually felt sick. Why put so much salt on when there is salt on the tables? Surely diners season to their own taste? You can’t remove what’s been added in the kitchen but you could add more, if you choose to. As someone else has said, the drinks are pricey-almost £7 for a pint. Service was great-couldn’t fault it. If you’re looking for romantic, or serene, this isn’t for you-really noisy. Sorry to say that I won’t be rushing back.

Living nearby we decided to explore some other places to eat outside our lovely village. After reading 3 good & bad reviews on TripAdvisor we decided that this is the place and after just one visit we found our new place to enjoy food during weekends and on special ocassions. We went with Heather's reccomandations: sausages and chips for our daughter, duck for my partner and red bream for me - all tasted so fresh with so much flavour. We knew the main course would be tops after we were left smilling once the starters were finished; many restaurants do not pay much attention to the starters but the chefs here care about their customers and take this art very seriously. I was so pleasantly surprised by all the food that I felt I had to give Heather a hug for reccomending us the food. Thank you for having us, what a treat!

The staff were helpful and friendly. I would liked to have given 5 stars but the starters took 50 minutes to arrive and the meat for the beef main was somewhat tough. The other dishes were fine. There were 6 adults and 3 small children in our party and I believe there was a large party in another part of the pub at the same time. I can only think the kitchen couldn't cope with the numbers.

We visited the Fox & Hounds for a birthday lunch. The interior is modern and cosy, the welcome, warm and friendly. The menu is a lovely combination of popular favourites and also more exciting dishes presented with great style. The Thai scotch egg was delicious, as was the Cromer crab on toast. The main courses did not disappoint either, the generous and beautifully cooked calves liver was excellent, as was my wife's hake. Well done to the whole team, an excellent meal from start to finish.
