Nice pub great people atmosphere friendly

Great pub and cafe right next to what's left of Nuthampstead airfield. The staff are friendly and food great, worth a visit.

Great hotel but starting to show it's age

Today was the first time I have visited this pub. What a find. It is a beautiful building in a lovely location. The lady serving us from behind the bar was really friendly and seemed determined to make our stop-off an enjoyable experience. The beer and wine we had were very good. The food however was on a different level. I had shoulder of lamb, served with pilaf and a tahini and garlic flavoured yoghurt. It was a beautifully constructed plate of food. We will definitely be back! The pub also has some very interesting photographs from the USA 398 bomber squadron, based at the adjacent airfield during the 2nd world war. I would strongly recommend a visit.

It seemed like the staff were not ready and had to move tables around to get everyone in. The service was OK, although we did not get 2 drinks we ordered. That said, the food was good and freshly cooked and the entertainment was fantastic. #tomhutttlestone 👌😁

We are local, and visited today for the 398th Diner lunch, with entertainment by the fabulous singer Thomas Huttlestone singing songs from the Rock N Roll era for this themed lunch. The staff were outstanding, excellent customer service, professional and friendly. The manager went out of his way to accommodate my father who is in a wheelchair. We had the traditional American Diner lunch, the burger was excellent, one of the best I’ve ever had. After lunch we visited the 398th Bomb Group museum, a huge collection of memorabilia.

Food awful. Roast pork Sunday lunch was a pork chop crackling rubber, roast potatoes tough to cut and eat. Burnt Yorkshire pudding. Worst roast dinner ever. Won't go back.

We were all very pleased with the selection of food on offer and the quality of the food when it came! The service was really good too.

I stayed for one night with 2 friends. The atmosphere was great, the manager had a great sense of humour and was extremely welcoming. The other staff were friendly and entertaining. The food was good, especially the Pizza, and the room was clean and well equipped. All we needed for a great night away.

Great place for a family get-together. The 3 children enjoyed the play area and the food and service was really good. So glad to find a pub open on a Monday lunchtime!

Came here yesterday for a birthday meal. Staff were nice and friendly. Service was good. Appreciate quality drops abit when there's a large number to cater for but you expect to get what you ordered or informed otherwise especially when it's pre ordered days in advance. The Buratta was not Buratta instead just normal mozzarella. Why wasn't we told this before? They just tried it on hoping we were none the wiser. Burgers were nice enough. Loaded fries were poor, melted burger cheese with some sauce over the top, just didn't look nice. Expensive for just average but that's the norm now isn't it. Shame because its a lovely looking pub in a nice setting.

Didn’t stay in or see any of the rooms, everything is quaint, kid friendly, clean & a museum in the back to boot! Must go!

From the planning stages to the night of the meal, your team truly went above and beyond, ensuring everything was perfect. The promptness of your replies to emails and attention to detail in following up on requests made the process seamless and stress-free. Booking out the two bedrooms added an extra layer of convenience, and they were lovely! The highlight of our celebration was of course the dining experience. Despite having a large group with various dietary preferences, every dish that came out of your kitchen was spot on! Even our fussiest eaters were impressed! Additionally, the breakfast provided the following morning was equally delightful, setting a perfect end to our stay. What truly made me feel happy was how every member of staff we encountered was incredibly kind, attentive, and willing to go out of their way to accommodate our needs. Overall, I cannot recommend hosting an event at The Woodman Inn highly enough. Our experience was delightful, and we are already looking forward to returning in the future. We occasionally come here for drinks, however last weekend was the first time eating here since change of ownership. Will definitely be back, as the food was absolutely fantastic - really great take on some classics, and next level good in my opinion. Chicken burger with Kimchi was particularly tasty. This is now one of the best places to eat in the area!

What a lovely pub, really nice staff and owner - great location with a lot of WW2 history. They had organised a Teddy bear run (50+ teddies) to Lister hospital children’s ward - how sweet is that 😇😇😇Even laid on bacon rolls for our group 😋😋😋

New to the area, I visited the Three 9 Eight Coffee Barn for the first time the other morning. Already seated were a group of mothers with their toddlers, a couple of business people working on their laptops and a lady with her dog. Perhaps the bosses of Costa and Starbucks should visit to see what us locals really want. Zoe, the Barista, could not have been more welcoming or helpful. However, beware, the ginger cake, will be addictive!

Friends, visiting from overseas, asked to be taken to a traditional English country pub for lunch. The Woodman provided the atmosphere and George and his team delivered great food served with a warm smile.

Visited the 398 Coffee Bar within the Woodman Inn for a decent latte and a gorgeous slab of marble cake at decent prices.

Great tasty food and service so friendly. I had the beer battered Haddock and triple cooked chip... devine. Homemade Fruit cheesecake ...mmm😋 Pub is In lovely countryside setting. Plenty of rooms and space to chill, but cosy at the same time. Fire in bar area. Nice play area for the kids, and board games, cards inside for all.

Sunday lunch for two. Excellent staff, friendly, polite. Service quick despite very full restaurant. The roast beef lunch exceptional. Very large portions and the apple crumble dessert out of this world. Price very fair offset against the service/food provided. Would thoroughly recommend

I made an arrangement with The Woodman for lunch for members of my walking group. We were well looked after and the pub staff were friendly and efficient. In a lovely rural location with lots of historical interest, The Woodman was quite a find. We certainly hope to return.

We love the Woodman inn. The food is always so lovely. We go quite often for a Sunday roast which is always perfect lunch meetings with our business and clients and dinner times too. The gluten free options are amazing. We decided to hold our little boys birthday party here and it was brilliant. The staff were unbelievably helpful as they always are, The stone baked pizzas were so tasty they were a hit with the adults and kids. I couldn't be more grateful to the staff. Thank you to everyone for making my little boys day.

Stunning food every time , very welcoming staff and so accommodating for families. We come here on special occasions. Great value for money too (starter- baked camembert is to die for! So is the red cabbage salad as a side)

Today we went for Sunday lunch to celebrate my husbands Birthday along with family and grandchildren it was very good and we all enjoyed it, would recommend it, also staff very friendly and helpful

Myself and some friends visited here on a Friday evening for the unlimited prosecco and a pizza for £25. I thought it was a very good deal and the pizza was one of the nicest pizzas I've ever had and big! They also have a herts lynx bus which can take you home! The staff were amazing too!

Second visit, staying in one of their b&b rooms for a visit to a Duxford airshow down the road. Nice little twin room for me and my son. Nice dinner in this charming and ancient oak beamed pub steeped in local aviation history in the evening accompanied by a couple of pints of a lovely local ale. Enjoyed a very nice breakfast in the morning with quality ingredients - I stay in a lot of hotels so for me to eat sausages and bacon they gave to be special. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.

Myself and a friend visited here the other night for some food and a few drinks. We were made to feel incredibly welcome by the staff and they continued to check in with us throughout, making sure we had everything we needed - thank you Amy and Alex. We ordered a variety of the starters which were delicious and very filling. Would definitely visit again!

On arrival I was welcomed and it was ok that i was earlier than the reservation (only one other table occupied) was told that there is no table service in the garden which was absolutely fine. Food came out in good time and was good. I went and paid bill, didn't look too close as didn't have my glasses on but the amount seemed roughly correct. When I get home I glance over the bill to find I've been charged 10% service charge. How can you not provide table service outside and then charge service charge. I carried all drinks and cutlery to the table.

Found this place on Google while going out for a nice drive. Absolutely stunning place really friendly staff and fantastic food, and great history to it. The only very small complaint was the chips had a little bit too much salt on them. Although I didn't have the Sunday roast a family member did it looked amazing and they said it tasted great. Will definitely return some point in the future

Really friendly and attentive staff, great food, and beer, in a variety of different dining areas, and a lovely rural location. Dog friendly. Ideal for groups of walkers and cyclists as we as big parties.

This pub gives a very cosy, country and charming atmosphere. The staff are all so lovely and welcome you at the bar. The lady who served us was very pleasant. There's a nice play park for the children outside which gives a nice family feel. They also have a big gazebo out the back, which would be ideal for an event. You can also see its interesting links to the American airbase from WW2 throughout the pub.

Lovely welcome, good service and great food. The chicken kebab and 398th burger were ordered and both were good. We did have the garlic bread to start. This was delicious and huge! No room for dessert. The only disappointment was that I mentioned it was my friends 60th when booking (as asked) but it wasn’t acknowledged. Not sure why I was asked if that’s the case.

We stayed in the garden, lots of space and a playground. Food was excellent and service was brilliant. I had the burger which was delicious, rest of family had the roasts and we all had empty plates.

Lovely space. Great childrens play area. They can play safely in this fun area, see photo. Huge marquee for weddings, birthdays and other celebrations. Their coffee shop looked great but we only ordered drinks and sat outside. Only thing is, this place is a bit hidden. Don't forget to look out for the signs or you might miss it. This pub is great in more ways than one. The food and service are great and the people are super friendly. Plates have large portions! The pub is over 200 years old and gives honor to the American soldiers who were stationed at the adjacent airfield during WWII. I was there for the specific reason to research my dad’s military history and the pub was the icing on the cake.

We were a large party of males and the the staff were all very friendly and efficient. They coped with multiple orders from our enthusiastic crowd with humour and patience. The pub food was excellent, the atmosphere of this old establishment was warm and inviting and we had a great time. Highly recommended.

Lovely venue and extremely attentive staff. They sat is down and talked us through the menu. We have a 5 month old baby who they paid a lot of attention to. The fish and chips was very nice. This Inn was recommended to us by a business we visited and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent, tasty and plentiful. Very good gluten free and vegan options and a wide range.
