The best restaurants serving British food in England

This was our sixth visit and the food and service were spot on as they always are. We had beef and pork which were lovely, with the best roasties and veg around, followed by Martin's delicious pavlova. We don't get here often but last year we had our wedding reception here, we came back two days later to eat and then again on our first anniversary. I think that says it all.

First time of visiting and certainly won't be the last. This was by far the best roast dinner at any restaurant. Huge portions and so tasty. Staff were friendly and great, highly recommend.

Best brunch we’ve had in years. Each element of the dishes we ordered was cooked to perfection. Clearly quality produce. Staff lovely. Gutted we don’t live locally!

Amazing home cooked food, incredible value. I do not know how they do it but this place beats any gastro pub far and wide. Incredibly good. My wife wanted to take Mike the chef home!

A real old pub decor the same as it's been for years , great ales ,lovely warm filled rolls and good conversation What more do you want?

we had an excellent breakfast at mrs g,s i met her & she is lovely.you could,nt fault the food.the place was packed out.anybody who wants a breakfast go here .you will not be disapointed i can assure you.

After being let down last minute for a birthday we called them to ask if it was possible to come and grab quite a few brownies from them, Dean went above and beyond to make some just for us, the brownies were better than we’ve ever tasted before, a variety of chocolate with different toppings that went down a treat. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be using regularly.

I had the best scone I have ever eaten in my life and I am a senior citizen so I have eaten a few in my time! Delicious! Will definitely go back again.

Had lunch here before visiting Nothe Fort. Lovely little Cafe overlooking the Harbour. A really good selection of reasonably priced sandwiches, cakes and drinks.

My daughter has a holiday home on maustin park. I came down for my first look at the holiday home and decided to have a meal in the stables. The bar and restuarant was lovely, the staff were so friendly towards me and the food its self was amazing. I would recommend the stables to everyone. Thankyou for the great night.

Just had a couple of nights at maustin park, great site. We ate at the stables bar & restaurant on Friday the food was some of the best we've had. The staff are a credit to this lovely little place,we were made to feel very welcome by them & the locals alike, had a great Saturday night with live music, can't wait to visit again, thankyou so much, Janice & jamie

Lovely coffee/hot chocolate and tea with a smile and a bit of friendly banter. Cakes are gorgeous too! Thoroughly recommended.

Delicious is all I can say! A cheese scone with cream cheese, chives and chutney for £3.50! Quirky place. Friendly service. Great

Incredible personal warm welcome for a family celebration. This is an absolute hidden gem that needs to be recognised and given the credit it deserves. We had been for a Sicilian Sunday lunch and returned for pizza/pasta night to celebrate a significant anniversary confident that our friends and family would be blown away with the authenticity and quality of food on offer.They were not disappointed and we were as impressed with our return visit as we were our first.
