Our first time eating here and we thoroughly enjoyed it. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the gentleman behind the bar who engaged us in short conversation showing interest in our day - a really nice touch that isn’t often shown in this modern day. The Sunday menu is excellent with just the right balance of choice. Between the 8 of us we enjoyed all three courses and everyone was happy with their food. There was a slight delay ordering our pudding but an explanation was given and we were attended to shortly afterwards - if I’m honest, we didn’t mind the time in between as it allowed the main course to settle. The gentlemen serving at our table was friendly, professional and enjoyed light banter with our party. My partner and I will definitely return and I’m sure the remaining members of our family have booked for Christmas Day.

Extremely nice pub/restaurant, atmosphere and food. Even though there where a mishap and we waited more than 50 min for our starters and the main course where served before the starters, the staff handled this very fine and elegant.

First time visiting but certainly won't be the last. We had a table of 5 for Sunday lunch and wasn't disappointed. Food and service excellent. Can't wait to try one of the Friday offers. We all bought items from the farm shop too, also very impressive and very reasonable.

Straight off the bat - the dinner and breakfast was included in our room rate. If we actually had the pay the prices on the menu (£30 a main) then I'd probably have a dimmer view of the place. And certainly I wouldn't travel here and eat here if you aren't staying at the castle. But for a place to eat on a nice couples break at the castle it does the trick. The food is good, though not amazing. On breakfast, you order the cooked English Breakfasts items you want, and then you can select from a small continental buffet of cereals, yoghurt, croissants etc. Main issue was that the "vegetarian option" advertised on the menu was simply not ordering the bacon and sausages! Apparently they do usually have a vegetarian alternative.

fish and chips on friday are excellent, been there regularly also drop in for a pint , large sign on entrance re parking and on doors leading in to pub so a few idiots who don’t look or read signs.
