We've just had takeaway fish and chips with peas and they were INCREDIBLE ♥️ Definitely recommended!

Large portion of Fish and Chips with either regular peas or Mushy Peas. In my humble opinion, this was the best ever, battered fish that I can remember eating. Dog-friendly pub and the locals are friendly.

This pub has a very relaxed atmosphere - friendly staff - locally brewed beer and lager - and excellent weekend home-cooked meals. And the music weekends are not to be missed!

me and a few friends have gone to the Jolly Sailor at about 5pm wanting to have a soft drink and a bite to eat. Apparently you have to be 18+ to go to the bar and order a drink (which i understand) but i said “can’t you just bring the drinks to us?” They replied saying “ no you have to be 18 to order any drink even water, we did get a water each and then we asked for some menus which they handed to us. An hour later we were still waiting for our order to be taken, then they came up to us and said we can’t have no drink or no food as we aren’t 18+. i was shocked as i have never encountered something like this, 2 16 year old girls couldn’t even get a pizza or a glass of water. Will not be returning thank you.

We have just returned from a fabulous weekend staying at the jolly sailor. 40.00 per night with a self service breakfast of cereal toast tea coffee juice the use of the kitchen appliances if you wish. This place was well worth the money the hosts were very pleasant welcoming accommodating the bar was very homely with the locals and their doggies enjoying one of many drinks and snacks/food available. The room was spotless with a wardrobe side tables etc just right for an overnight stay. The bed was very comfortable with fresh sheets and towels. Shower room is to be shared but only one other room in the pub. All in all I thought it was fantastic and would definitely recommend a stay. Only 20 minutes drive from the pub to York town centre which was perfect to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Will definitely be returning thank you xx 😁

Had Very nice time at the Jolly Sailor until I was on my way to the Bar. A person, who I presume was the owner, was telling a Elderly Lady to control her Dog or get out. It was not what the manager said but the tone of voice he said it with. I did not notice this Dog doing anything that was wrong. It just behaved as any Dog would and jumped up to greet us when we walked past. The whole experience left me with a bad taste in my Mouth.

A little tired inside, with no frills but comfortable offering a good range of drinks. I only saw sandwiches available on a blackboard, but based on tables being laid up for dining in another room, I assume meals are available.

If you love traditional food: Meat pies, casseroles or more modern sizzlers, this is the place to go! I have eaten here regularly and whilst I can usually enjoy a good portion, the 'smaller appetite' Castle pie defeats me every time. Great food, amazingly friendly and attentive staff and a great country ambiance. Nothing more to say, except give it a whirl, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

We stayed at the farm cottages at the weekend .The bar-staff and customers were so welcoming ( unlike the Ferrybridge Inn !! ) . Bar meals were outstanding , selection of beers and lager were also spot-on . Would not hesitate to return , if down in that area . An especially big 'thank-you' to Kev for the lift back to our lodgings . If anyone is staying in or around the Cawood/ Kelfield area .. Get yourselves to the 'Jolly' .. you will not be disappointed.

Best cafe in the south milford and sherburn area. Regularly get cooked breakfasts and cakes from here, very consistent. They also do the best brownies you'll find in the area! Good customer service to
