Disappointed. Firstly we arrived, the car park was busy. Seemed people park there that aren't visiting the pub. Very small for the establishment. We had to drive around twice to eventually find a parking spot. Our drinks order was taken quickly and then our food order was taken. Great 👍 The food came. The fish and chips was a good size portion. The roasts on the other hand. Very thin pieces of meat. Large yorkies. OK veg. Now the roast potatoes... I'm not often disappointed by roast dinner veggies. However these roast potatoes were the worst I've ever tasted. My knife wouldn't even cut them the skin was like leather! I have no idea how they managed to get them like that. Inedible! The service was slow and seemed stretched for the amount of tables. We asked for a dessert menu and one was never brought, after finishing our drinks we left without ordering. Would not rush to come back for the food.

This is an absolutely lovely dog-friendly place to eat or just pop in for a drink. It has recently been taken over by local people. The food has been delicious, and the service is professional, efficient, and very friendly. There is a large dog-free zone to dine for those who prefer to eat without dogs being close to them. We have tried the chicken stroganoff, and it was so delicious. We then tried a full Sunday lunch, and it was so so lovely. Booking is essential as it is becoming very popular very quickly. We love The Rockingham as do our wee Westie and Tibetan Terrier. 💚

What everyone who takes their car in for an MOT wants to hear “ NO FAULT FOUND “. We popped in for Lunch on a Tuesday to be greeted by two lovely ladies one of whom was the Landlady (Helen) Jayne had Salmon Fillet and I had Gammon. The empty plates at the end of our meals spoke volumes, with the portions being more than ample. All freshly cooked and served in a timely fashion. Helen explained how she and other villagers had decided take the pub on in May this year and from our experience they are not doing anything wrong and making a stance to open seven days a week. Good look to you all. We will certainly be back soon. Sadly we didn’t get the name of the young lady behind the bar but she was a huge part of our fabulous experience. AND EVERYTHING INCLUDING A TIP CAME TO LESS THAN THE COST OF AN MOT. CHEERS. H&J.

Visited on a Saturday evening and we were shown to a choice of tables given some menus and when the other two guests arrived asked what we would like to drink. Ordered main courses all of which were okay but the general lack of service lets it all down having put down our food the waitress hurried away so fast that I had to holler to a waitress across the room to ask for mayonnaise, no one asked if we required anything else!! On clearing our plates I asked if I could get another drink but that fell on deaf ears,we were eventually asked if we would like to see a dessert menu of which we did look and no one bothered to come back and take our order(. 3 girls all stood behind the bar having a drink and chatting about shifts and getting paid!!!)so we just gave up and asked for the bill. Paid the bill at the bar and not so much as a thank you or goodbye have you enjoyed it just nothing. Food’s okay but need to quickly work on customer service skills.

We had a late lunch on Saturday around 3pm. Both main courses were excellent. A lovely village pub under recent new ownership. The young lady is charge was very charming and welcoming, an asset to the pub. It’s also dog friendly, which is a big plus for myself. The steak sandwich was excellent, served with some outstanding chips. Sounds fairly simple food, but this pub nailed it. Looking forward to visiting again soon.. with my dog 🐶.

3 of us out for a celebration, arrived 1 hour early but no fuss still seated with a smile. Massive gluten free menu and I was advised gluten free mushrooms on toast was good and it was. Others had prawns and Brie, all really nice. Mains fish pie which was great fluffy cheesy mash on top of big pieces of fish, huge gluten free fish and chips and steak frites. Steak was overdone so staff kindly took it back and brought fresh one. Steak was not only taken off the bill but we were also given wine to take home as a sorry. Now that is customer service. We would have come back anyway but we have already chatted to several groups of friends to tell them how good the food was and the great customer service and they are now going to try out the pub for the first time. Well done to the staff you turned what really was a small mistake into a great plus because of your great customer service and you will now be getting more new customers.

Extremely dissapointed. We dont go out very often and today what a waste of money. Bill came to £80.30 for 2 glasses of Prosecco, 2 pints of guiness. 1 glass of pop, Kids homemade pizza (on a ciabatta) yes you read correctly ciabatta with puree and cheese on. Soggy and appallingly for the price. Followed by a sloppy burger with average chips and a microwave lasagne. I don't think I can express how gutted we was. £80 we could of had better in wetherspoons and that's not an exaggeration. No wonder Saturday afternoon and no one in it. Note to management you can't have prices like that to be served cheap low quality meals. What's with the kids home made pizza on a ciabatta roll. Seriously where did you see that. Facebook kids 5 minute low cost easy meals? Will absolutely never ever return here again!! Sorry not sorry

Visited on Sunday for the umpteenth time. Most things excellent. However. Meat portions small. Had the LARGE beef meal. 2 prices of beef 5 inches by 4 inches and very thin. I'd hate to have had a small portion. Servers never asked if any sauces needed. Belatedly managed to attract someone's attention. Tried to get a drink halfway through the meal. Ended up going to the bar and queuing. No.one asked if we were satisfied with our meal. Tried to get the bill. After 10 minutes went to the bar. 2 female serving staff glued to their phones. One male and one female staff behind the bar, backs to the counter on their phones. Poor stuff from my favourite location for Sunday lunch. Time to give somewhere else a try.

This venue promised so much but didn't really deliver. Some parts were good others not great. Staff are very welcoming, although most are very young and seem quite inexperienced. For starters we had a mix of batterered king praws with a chilli dip which were enjoyable. Garlic mushrooms which hit the spot. Potatoe skins, again which were good. I had a goats cheese tart which was very small and not great taste wise. Our mains were of a reasonable size those that plumped for the home made steak pie probably fared best. The pie was served with homemade chips and a selection of vegetables. The pies were meaty inside with well cooked beef. The homemade chips were good too. I asked for Ketchup for my chips and wished I hadn't as it wasn't a great brand. I used the extra gravy that was served with the pie instead. My partner had a chicken stroganoff with boiled rice which he enjoyed. The most disapointing dish was the Chicken paramo. The béchamel sauce that was on this was bland, overly think and lumpy. Chef definitely needs to rethink this one. Our desserts were again a mixed bag. My partner ordered vanilla ice-cream and it only came with one scoop. The Crème brulee was good, as was the brownie. The ice cream sundae I had was a poor attempt. Served in a bowl with what presented like squinty cream . We have been here before and thought the food wasn't as good this time around. Just needs a few small tweaks though to improve.

This used to be a lovely relaxed dog friendly pub and we have been here many times. It's now under new ownership and is no longer dog friendly but dog tolerant. Gone is the warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere which has been replaced with a brusque offhand and rushed welcome where you are asked for your drinks order before you've even been given time to sit down. We were only "allowed" to sit in the hot conservatory next to a large table hosting a private party because we have a dog. Gone are the relaxed and smiling staff who now look like frightened rabbits clearly worried about making a mistake. The food which used to be piping hot and tasty is now very average, luke warm with soggy veg. We won't be back.

Which after a few minutes it did and looked amazing, not only did it lol amazing it was amazing. Nice thick slices of meat, fresh vegetables, lovely roast potatoes and a large Yorkie to top it off alongside a nice rich gravy. Unfortunately after a lovely roast we were to full for pudding but wish we'd made room for the Rhubarb with a hint of ginger crumble. In hindsight we should have asked for it to takeaway. At short notice The Rockingham Arms was able to fit in our party of 12 for my brothers 50th birthday (who had travelled for 4.5 hrs to be with us) and saved the day. They also managed to give us the conservatory to ourselves right next to the garden so the kids could play out whilst in sight. They decorated the room with birthday banners and served up a delicious 3 course meal from their excellent menu. They even put some candles in his dessert and sang happy birthday. Nothing was too much trouble: we had children with us requiring a few changes to the food and they were happy to accommodate. Service was excellent from all the staff, very polite and helpful. Food was yummy, portion sizes were just right and everything cooked to perfection. A very good time was had by all. Have eaten here before and always enjoyed it but this time they went above and beyond. Thank you Team Rocky!! We will be back.

Lovely little pub with a country vibe with small seating area. Had a ciabatta bacon and brie sandwich with chips which were lovely. Good gluten free menu as well which with a coeliac family member is always nice to see. Friendly staff and reasonable price in todays climate. We did the Towton battlefield walk first then a shandy and sandwich to finish.

Can’t thank Laura and her team at The Rockingham Arms, Towton enough! I enquired emailed in a general enquiry which Laura picked up so promptly and responded to so, friendly, politely and professionally. My parents married in Tadcaster, visited this pub on dates before they married and so there was no better place to choose for their 30th wedding anniversary celebration meal. Laura allocated the 6 of us a really lovely, really private little space and gave me complete creative control for decorating the space how I saw fit. Laura was quick with her communication, super helpful and the two ladies who looked after us all night were absolutely lovely. The food was great too. We each had a two course meal as I had baked a celebration cake for my parents to cut, as they would have done on their wedding day. Laura was happy for me to bring the cake and they couldn’t have been more polite about bringing plates and a knife in for us after our meal. The waiting staff, Laura and the chef and their team are also fantastic with allergies. I myself have a gluten intolerance and my sister also has intolerances and not once were we made to feel any ‘different’ to a regular diner. There was so much choice it really was hard to choose what to have and neither of us had to ‘miss out’ because of our intolerances, on anything, which is still sadly so often the case in some places you go! I definitely will return for another meal here, I couldn’t not and I would 100% recommend this pub to anyone looking for somewhere new to try, somewhere to host an occasion or celebration and just generally to anyone visiting the area, who’s looking for somewhere to go and have a really great meal! Thanks again guys, we had the best time!

Has been cleaned up and looks much better. Unfortunately, you can get more than a pint and a bag of crisps here. People were coming in to score and staff are aware. Sitting area out front is nice to people watch and the weird comings and goings in Taddy.
