The Mayfield is a loverly property, very busy with local customers, staff very friendly, could not ask for more . Food was very bland , garlic dip had no taste, salad looked like it had been dumped on the plate . Room was very warm and hard to sleep , very clean and the design has been well thought out. Use to get Netflix when I visited the first time, bit of a shame you still do not get it, or able to put your own on the tv.

Lovely place, perfect location, spotlessly clean and comfy beds. Staff very helpful, nothing too much trouble. Fab breakfast. 2nd time here and won't be our last. Love it!

Large pub geared to the masses of holiday makers visiting the Filey Bay holiday complex. As a result, it has no real interest in providing a good service based on a variety of products but instead, the captive audience encourages a mediocre bar with a very limited selection of equally mediocre brands - certainly none that I would consider 'premium' quality. As a malt whisky enthusiast, I looked forward to be sampling Filey Bay malt whisky which is distilled almost next door! What an opportunity lost for both the bar and the distillery. The place looks tired, IS tired and it's only saving grace are a few staff who appear to want to serve the customer by giving friendly, efficient service. Deciding to eat there one night we booked in and reserved a table. Returning to eat later, we were taken to our table, handed some menus and left to get on with it. First task - Find a child seat and struggle to get the heavy, awkward item through the tightly spaced tables & seats to where we needed it. When we got it into position, within seconds we were being asked for our drinks order. No chance of real cask ales here so it was a bottle of reasonably priced wine for 3 with other mediocre drinks for the other adults and soft drinks for the children. These were delivered fairly quickly and food ordered from a reasonable menu which had a good range of options. We started with a 3 starters which we intended sharing - McSweens Haggis Bon bons and spring rolls with dumpling. We asked for additional plates to facilitate this but still waiting -,fortunately napkins came to the rescue. The haggis was superb but then McSween products are without doubt top of the lot when it comes haggis. (Think they are trapped, dispatched this life and off to the customer within hours - the freshest you can get them). The spring rolls were equally fresh as we were eating them mid spring meaning they had time to mature. Main courses included 3 cajun burgers, one cheeseburger and one steak pie. My Steak pie was really pretty good , smallish and despite being 'catering food' was full of lean steak rather than the normal mush. Lovely jug of gravy and selection of veg. Those with the Cajun burgers and the kids cheeseburger certainly demolished their platefuls. 3 chocolate muffins with ice cream were ordered and a long wait was encountered. Admittedly the place was filling up by now but after 40 minutes, we were about to cancel when they arrived. 2 were ok but one resembled a chunk of rubber. 3 of us had a try at cutting the lump of dark brown gunge but no way was a knife going through that mass. Taken back and within seconds, a fresh palatable portion was handed over, with no apology. Had the feeling the delay we experienced was them preparing a new batch whilst one solitary piece from an earlier tray was lying under a heat lamp. By this time the place was heaving we left with a Final conclusion that we would eat elsewhere in future. On our final day, we went in for cocktails - or rather sat outdoors. Order taken fairly promptly however after 25 minutes, we had to go make 3 return trips to the bar to be told repeatedly that they would be out shortly. Fourth trip finally ended up with us standing there and doing self delivery - 40 minutes after originally asking for them. Big negative for the Filey Bay complex is the lack of competition - complacency allied to a captive audience gives the results we experienced.

Vino aquí hoy, uno de nuestros hijos golpeó la mesa, lo que resultó en una pinta llena (¡solo un sorbo tomado!) y una coca cola derramada. El personal limpió el vaso y luego reemplazó las bebidas de forma gratuita. Realmente sorprendido por el gesto. Nuestros chicos son autistas y se pueden desencadenar fácilmente - estábamos listos para ww 3 porque uno había roto a los vidrios. Sentí que tenía que dejar un comentario porque este acto de amabilidad del personal de la antigua rejilla plateada ha hecho un impacto masivo en los niños y nuestra estancia. Gracias de nuevo x

Después de un largo paseo y visitar el pintoresco pueblo de RHB estábamos deseando un merecido pastel y café. Desearía que nunca fuéramos a este lugar para ser honestos. Mesas sin limpiar, dueño estresante detrás del mostrador, pastel sabía como si hubiera estado en la nevera durante días. Sin opción de té. El peor de todos es el baño. Es asqueroso que no haya cerradura en la puerta y que el inodoro no se enjuague y esté sucio. También hay que seguir al dueño en la calle para pagar con tarjeta ya que su máquina sin contacto no funciona en la cafetería. Falta de WiFi parece pero no muy profesional en un café caro.

He decidido escribir esta opinión después de otra comida decepcionante en el café Irton Garden Centre. Nos sirvieron nuestras bebidas de inmediato, pero esperamos 35 minutos para nuestras comidas a pesar de que el café estaba bastante vacío en el momento de nuestra visita. La calidad de la comida no era buena y ciertamente no vale la pena la cantidad que pagamos. Es una pena ya que nos gusta mucho el centro de jardinería en sí.

Worst chips I’ve ever tasted at The Tea Bar. Tasteless and chewey Curry sauce awful. Had lumps in. Nothing like the curry sauce you’d expect. Even the seagulls wouldn’t eat the chips!

Tuve que esperar 40 minutos para patatas fritas y salsa y todo el inglés Las patatas fritas y salsa era horrible no sabía a salsa y las patatas fritas eran grasientas patatas fritas y el inglés completo era basura huevos no estaba totalmente cocido frijoles no sabían a frijoles ni los hachís morenos y ambas comidas era Luke caliente y tazas con nuestra taza de té en estaba sucio lo mismo que los cubiertos No volveré, eso es seguro 💯

I went in at 09.30 for a takeaway latte only to be told that 'the coffee machine was warming up' and to come back at ten. The man could have simply staged that they don't open until 10am, but the door was wide open so I thought they were open. Shame as I was looking forward to a nice latte. I went elsewhere and probably won't come back to Viking. A shame

We decided to call in for a Sunday dinner. Roast beef was cold and served on cold plates. Not everyone likes to have gravy pre poured on to their Yorkshire pudding and was already done. Also after hearing a conversation from another customer that they had also run out of most beer and it is a busy Easter holiday. I wouldn't recommend this pub also dog was also up on the furniture as we walked in

Came with my friend after seeing it had reopened and pics looked nice. Menu is varied and good choice, we decided to get a mezze and spring rolls UK a share, mezze was really good value £7.50 all fresh and obviously care taken, springs rolls also good. Was very impressed.

Llamamos y reservamos el té de la tarde para 4 personas anoche para tener hoy a las 2 pm. Pedí una zona tranquila para sentarse, ya que mi madre está a medio camino de la quimioterapia. También pedimos sándwiches de pescado. Llegamos un poco temprano, pero avisé a recepción que estábamos aquí para el té de la tarde, no parecían saber nada al respecto, pero nos dijeron que esperáramos en el salón, que no había problema, no podíamos comprar una bebida ya que el bar no estaba abierto, así que nos sentamos y esperamos, el gerente vino y dijo que solo lo estaban preparando y vendrían a buscarnos cuando estuviera listo. Esperamos y esperamos y a las 2. 20 Mi padre lo persiguió y nos lo llevaron a la sala de estar alrededor de las dos. 30 y servida en una mesa de centro sin espacio para ello y con bocadillos de salmón. Luego aconsejé que no nos gustaban los sándwiches de salmón, así que el camarero se llevó todo el té de la tarde y tuvimos que esperar otros 15 minutos para volver. Fue absolutamente repugnante, aparentemente los bollos estaban recién horneados y calientes cuando en realidad eran duros como la roca y fríos como la piedra y rancios y parecían sacados de un paquete, apenas había suficiente crema para extender una capa muy delgada en algunos era así de duro que no eran comestibles. Los sándwiches blancos estaban rancios, los de mayonesa de huevo eran viscosos y los pequeños pasteles seguían congelados. Estoy bastante seguro de que olvidaron que íbamos a venir y pusieron todo lo que pudieron juntos. No quiero ser grosero o desagradable, pero el caballero que nos sirvió era muy descuidado y tenía un olor horrible. Le informé a recepción cuando pagué la factura y puedo confirmar al 100% que no recomendaré ni regresaré. Esto fue muy decepcionante, ya que este fue el primer descanso y salida desde el diagnóstico de mi madre, y definitivamente fue la peor experiencia de té de la tarde que he encontrado.

So disappointed in this place. The pub itself was kept nicely. But sadly the Moretti was undrinkable and the food….. well!!! All I can say is DO NOT waste your money! We had Sunday dinner (£17.75) option of lamb or sausage - my partner chose the sausage) and I chose the Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy (£9). The whole meal was frozen cheap rubbish. I have attached pictures to show the poor quality. Extremely over priced poor quality food. The mug of Yorkshire Tea was nice though.
