It was edible, that’s about it. Pale undercooked chips, batter was greasy, service was slow, the boxes the food came in were already dirty on the outside. Yeah, I’ll skip this one next time.

We went there paid 10.00 for warm fish and chips which were not even cooked fresh ignorant chinese staff who dumped food in front and said there u go. Dont go there unles u want stale , warm up minging food. Wouldnt hav hav gave any review but had to , to send

Avoid like the plague. We went here for a quick evening meal to take out so we could fit in the sun. The service was slow and when we finally received the food it was dreadful. My husband had battered sausage and chips, I had chips with gravy. It all tasted too oily. The gravy was like treacle Also, I spent all night on the toilet. And this was the only thing I ate that particular day. My husband’s stomach was the same.

‼️🚨FOOD POISONING🚨‼️ AVOID AVOID AVOID Came here last week and ordered 2x fish and chips, one with curry sauce. 9 days later and I’m still suffering with awful food poisoning! Several doctors trips and tests and even went to URGENT CARE! Fish was grey, had a funny smell and bad taste, curry sauce was lumpy, also had a funny taste, chips were old and stale. The box was drenched with oil too! Please stay away and save yourself from being ill!

Lovely day in Scarborough with the family and dog, lots of space for the dog to run about. Topped off with fish and chips at oasis.. chips were probably the best I’ve had!!! And lovely fish too.. hubby had a sandwich which was freshly prepared and equally as delicious!

The chips were cremated poor reaction from staff coffee was not too bad as a local we expect better last time we frequent this place sorry

We ordered two coffees which were nice and two bacon rolls which were not, the wife could not eat hers. The bacon on both was over cooked and salty, if that wasn't dry enough, the rolls were toasted and no butter. I don't why there is this trend for toasting bread buns at commercial premises, my cynical nature thinks it is a means of using bread that has gone stale. We will not be going there again.

This is a really great place to stop off and grab a bite to eat and use their toilets which are pretty well maintained. Public toilets close early in the evening, but this place is open until 9pm in the summer so may be a great option for some situations. They have a great variety of food at reasonable prices. i really enjoyed their fish and chips and later on when I wanted a pot of tea. It's opposite the Freddie Gilroy (man on a bench) attraction and also it's a great place to enjoy looking/walking along the coast. Lots of parking here. Definitely glad this place exists especially towards end of day when most places are closed.

My husband ordered me a bacon sandwich and it was so dry and over cooked I couldn’t eat it. The bacon was so dry it snapped like a crisp

We travelled down the north shore and saw the sign and thought lets pop in and we ordered 2 fish and chips a burger meal and 2 coffee The fish was fresh and a good size with a light coating of batter the chips were lush and as my nan would say proper chips not frozen also came with plenty of scraps put on a counter where you could add your own salt and vinegar and sauce (the burger was good too) Would recommend a visit well worth it staff were also welcoming

Really friendly staff but the food is not good. Greasy, grey chips, tiny piece of fish. Nice view but very run-down with overflowing bins next to a car lay-by.

Visited after the lunch time rush on 14/8/22.. Absolutely disgusting food. The fish had a weird smell and the batter was foul, but into it and my mouth was full of grease. The chips were plentiful but very anemic looking and were obviously cooked in vegetable oil which doesn’t have the same taste as traditional fish and chips, the curry sauce was watery and they didn’t know what a cheese savoury was. Service was garbage aswell, you order and then have to wait, and when I mean wait it’s over 30 mins. The guys cooking the fish and chips are really slow. Not like a regular chip shop, would have hated to attend when it was lunchtime. Its on the expensive side but that’s to be expected considering the location. It’s £8 for a regular fish and chips or £6.50 for a small which is the same size as a fish finger. Not sure if it’s because the owners are not from the uk and they don’t understand how we like them or if it’s just because they don’t have a clue but they need to up their game. Avoid…..

Called in after walking around the headland. We ordered 2 Cappuccinos and a couple of portions of chips (cooked in Veg oil). Found a seat without any problems in the covered area the drinks where fine and there was a load of chips so set us up nicely for our later meal.

I disagree with people who say chips are uncooked and the food is greasy! Lovely fish and chips. Best fish and chips. Don’t waste your time finding a café, go to Oasis café.

Visited 2nd August 2022 food shocking. Fish so greasy the box was disintegrating and chips made from frozen potatoes. Pale and tasted shocking. Staff more interested in chatting between themselves.

We ordered fish & chips and sat on the seating area outside to eat, whilst watching the wavings crashing. To be honest, it wasn't the best fish & chips I've had, but it was nice and we enjoyed it. There was a queue but wait wasn't too long and the staff were nice.

Ate here before going to concert at the open air theatre as thought prices there for food would be expensive. Chose scampi and chips which were excellent. Sat outside on a balmy september evening looking over the sea.

To be honest we had average expectations of the fish and chips we had ordered. However the reality was that it was actually very nice. Fresh, hot, crisp and lovely.

We had trouble finding anywhere to park in South Bay, Scarborough so drove to North Bay. Found parking (disabled) outside. Decided to have lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Fish and chips was fresh and crispy. Scampi was also good. Enjoyed it very much. Only thing was tables were outside and not cleaned but these days I carry antiseptic wipes everywhere so no problem to give it a clean. They were extremely busy with lots of motorcyclists but still not long to wait. All in all a good first lunch of our holiday.

At the time of our visit the inside area was closed but there are a couple of covered areas outside which made for a great meeting place, right on the sea front. Service was quick and friendly, and it all looked quite clean in the servery/kitchen. Fish and Chips were reasonable value; I've enjoyed better but they were fair value for money.

Scruffy cafe with unsanitized tables. Ask for a knife and was told none were available. Very limited choice of food. Used to be nice, what a shame.

We always take a visit to the oasis when visiting Scarborough. Lovely food with amazing views. Ideal when going on the beach, walking or wanting to sit and watch the world go by. Dogs enjoy a sausage treat too.

Terribly greasy food / fish, bad coffee and shocking service (no lemon for fish); terrible 1/10 service, even take out. When you ask for vinegar they shout at you....What next?

Honestly, if I’m hungry I’ll eat most stuff. This was awful! Admittedly the actual fish tasted fresh at least but the batter was greasy and tasted disgusting. I literally took two bites and threw it in the bin. My guess is that they haven’t cleaned...

I was really looking forward to fish and chips at the seaside and chose this cafe as it has plenty of outdoor seating and looked very popular. The counter service was very good. The fish was ok / edible, however the chips are the worst...

Friendly pleasant staff, and prices that are reasonable considering the location on the seafront of North Bay. It is obviously the meeting point for dog owners......we were surprised at the number and variety of dogs in Scarborough...owners with two or more dogs were the norm....

Quick service, perfectly good food, area to eat it in, and very clean loos. We enjoyed the fish and chips and the jacket potato. Perfect for a quick lunch and it felt safe.

Average food. Quick and convenient. It was a shame that everything was disposable and apart from the fish and chips boxes everything was packaged in styrofoam

Yes its a cafe by the sea , but no need for very dirty tables and seating area ...completely put us off Otherwise great value for money with a tasty muffin ( Massive so shared) and good tea / coffee

We visited here for two fish and chip dinners. Although they didn’t have their full range (no cod) we didn’t feel that we missed out. The portions were really good with a fair price. I particularly liked the little salad garish on the side

We came across this cafe as we walked along the North Bay. We went upstairs to the restaurant seating area. Some of the tables are situated overlooking the beautiful bay. From all tables you get a view of some kind of the bay. The food is fresh, nutritious and well presented. The service was excellent, staff very friendly. I could imagine in the height of the summer you would be queuing to get inside as it isn't a large dining area, but if you cannot get a seat inside there is a seating area outside or you could have a take away. Very clean inside and outside. Very reasonably priced food and drinks.

Popped in after taking the dog along the beach for a walk. Coffee & a giant DELICIOUS giant muffin. Didn't try it but the fish and chips looked delicious.

We both fancied fish & chips so popped into Oasis Cafe while passing. Had a very friendly reception and had great views from table. We ordered Cod & chips but unfortunately they had been so busy that day they had sold out of cod! Apparently trade that day had been very busy like a normal summers day not a day in February! I ordered haddock and my wife ordered plaice. When they arrived they were both large portions accompanied with perfect chips, peas and side salad. Both meals were delicious, very tasty and very enjoyable. Could have been a 5 star rating if cod was available! Great service and very friendly. All round very enjoyable! Thank you!

Called in with our young Son & sat in the upstairs cafe with great views out to sea. We ordered the Steak Pie & Veg Soup. Lovely tasty homemade food at fabulous prices.The staff here are both welcoming, friendly & took the time to chat with our 5yr old, which he thought was great.Thank you we most definitely will be back!

Ordered some drinks. Normally if you ordered an americano you put milk in separately. I looked around for the milk but couldn’t find any so I asked a woman who questioned what I had ordered and rudely told me an americano was a black coffee ( I knew this) I asked if it was extra for milk ? The woman said no as I would have paid. She then turned and walked away throwing a look at the other woman she was with. This woman was very rude and made me feel really stupid in front of other staff and customers. I asked the other woman if it was too much trouble to get some milk and she gave me a look as she knew her work mate was in the wrong. I have worked in catering for 30+ yrs and if My staff treated customers like this they would be sacked. I will never visit this place again and will also make sure people are aware of such bad customer service.

I booked for 20 of us to use the upstairs cafe , the Oasis delivered an efficient service of their lovely Fish and chips and all the trimmings, they were so accommodating which is never easy with a big group, nothing was too much trouble.Thank you we will definitely be back again.

Only had drinks and sausages for the dogs but the coffee was bland and the sausages stone cold-not that I think the dogs minded but I expected them to be warm/hot. Very busy with workmen, so they must get something right. They asked for milky coffee, must remember to do this next time.We call here when passing as you can sit and watch the sea from your car as you eat/drink.The toilets could do with a good clean but note some carpeting down in the entrance now, which used to be very wet previously from weather conditions. seems to be 2 toilets and I only noticed 1 previouslyStaff are nice enough and service is good

We visited Scarborough on Saturday with my family. We all ordered fish and chips with bread on the side. What was delivered was truly awful, bland fish with a tasteless greasy batter and GREY chips which only tasted of the fat they were cooked in. The cheap sliced bread was thickly spread with margarine and never came close to butter. All this was delivered by a surly rude waitress. Do not be fooled by the seafront location or modern exterior, this is without doubt the worst fish and chips we have ever had.

We went to Oasis today as our usual café of choice was unexpectedly closed, however we weren't disappointed. We decided to sit upstairs to get a great view from the balcony. On a bright day it is a lovely view of the sea and you can people watch for hours. The menu can be a bit misleading as its all over the place. Some behind the counter, some on the wall and some on the menu on the table. It would be nice if all together in one place but that's a minor point. We decided to order a pot of tea for two and a couple of meals - quiche with chips and salad ( could have come with potatoes and veg if so chosen ) and steak pie with chips, 3 veg and gravy. The total cost was £18.90 so it is far from expensive. The portions were a very good size and I have to say it tasted lovely. I had the pie which had a very tasty crust and lots of chunks of steak inside. Being a Yorkshireman I wish I had gotten a slice of bread to mop up all my gravy. My other half got the quiche Lorraine which came with the most enormous salad, she was full for hours afterwards. Normally you get a lettuce leaf, slice of cucumber and a tomato but this had egg, coleslaw, onion and potato salad too. It was well worth the money. Nice place to visit

We used to love the fish and chips at Oasis many years ago. Now they are tasteless and expensive. Very disappointed with the long wait for the take out service and the meal that we had. I understand that management changes but this is definitely not for the better.

£12.20 for a sausage and bacon sandwich, 2 sausage sandwiches, a diet coke, 2 fruit shoot and a tea. Just basic, tables are abit grubby but if you want a cheap and cheerful breakfast this is the place to go.

My wife and I arrived in the Scarborough North Bay area and wanted a quick bite to eat for lunch. We weren't sure where to go but just found a car space outside the Oasis cafe.

We sat upstairs & the views are great. It started raining but we were undercover so it was fine. There are even binoculars for you to use. Coffee was good, staff were friendly & the toilets were clean. A good stop off when walking round Marine Drive

We had takeaway fish and chips which were lovely, the staff were friendly, it’s in a beautiful location and I would recommend to friends and family.

Popped in on a sunny day went up onto balcony which had lively views of the North Bay and sea front. Had tea coffee and carrot and sponge cake all good decent food at a reasonable price.

Me and my partner have been there a few times and haven’t had any complaints but we went on Thursday. The lady was rude, no hi, no smile ( I understand people have bad days ) I told the lady what we wanted she didn’t tell me the price it came to just looked at me with her hand out wanting the money. She took it and handed it back without telling me how much change I had. There was no thank you, no manors. I thought she was very rude and I couldn’t believe it. Once the food was ready she just left it on the side and shouted what we ordered - she didn’t even give us chance to walk up to get the food before shouting out the order again, with an attitude. I’m just glad that I wasn’t getting anything and it was just my partner. I was very annoyed because it doesn’t cost anything to have manors or to even tell me what the price my order came to!! Both me and my parter are very disappointed with the customer service we got given.

Just great! The staff work really hard. Great food. Good price. Would go back. The cod and chips were excellent. The full English breakfast was brilliant too. We had dinner there the first night and brunch the second morning. Lovely and clean and great views too. This is the upstairs restaurant I am reviewing. We did not purchase food from the take away part on the ground level.

This is a great place to have Fish n Chips in in ya car facing the sea. We had freshly cooked Fish and chips with mushy peas between us... They were delicious and a perfect end to our day in Scarborough.. I could eat them again right now...

Stopped here for a bite to eat on our way up North Bay. Had a small range of drinks and light meals on offer, but underwhelming but lady who served was very friendly.

We visited the cafe during a trip to Scarborough when we was on holiday at the nearby Primrose Valey in Filey and it was very nice. The chips were served quite hot which was nice and the coffee was also very hot and tasted very nice. From the upstairs of the cafe you get spectacular views out to sea and you also get a view of Scarborough Castle right at the top of the hill which is very nice. The price of the chips and coffee was also quite cheap for the amount that you recieved and was very happy with the cafe and couldn't fault it and would definetely visit again.

Since this cafe has changed hands the standards have slipped badly. Called yesterday for two coffee’s and two cakes and the lady who served myself was not really with it. She was not chatty pleasant in any way. The food quality is very poor. It will be sometime before we go once again I am sorry to say.

I visited yesterday with my children, I asked politely for a black coffee and a very stern faced lady picked up a polystyrene cup and a very sparsely filled spoon of instant coffee... so I asked if I could have it in a proper cup (pointing at a big stack of them), the stern faced lady then looked even sterner and said 'you mean a mug?'.. Yes please, I answered and would you mind not filling it too full as I like it strong! Well I may as well have threatened her with a shovel .. The look she gave me! My coffee was weak as pee pee.

At ground level there is a takeaway but upstairs there is a small cafe/restaurant. There was a lift but not working when we visited. The menu had a good selection from breakfast food, sandwiches, jacket potatoes to main meals. There was also a choice for children's meals. I can vouch for the jacket potato and the large side salad that came with it. The prices were very reasonable. The room was basic but very clean with view looking out over North Bay. The service was excellent. Will definitely go again.

Stopped off for fish and chips on our walk along Royal Albert Drive. The food was great and sat on a bench outside with a wonderful view of the sea.

Food took over half an hour to arrive. Surroundings were fine and view over sea was nice but general atmosphere was unwelcoming. Have been twice now and Won’t go back.

After a long walk across the front on a bright November morning its good to know that the Oasis will be open. Always a queue even out of season as it really is an Oasis for people to visit while out and about along the seafront.

We make sure we come here every time we visit Scarborough. Beautiful views all around of the castle and sea & prominade.

Have been coming here for years! We normally get food from the hatch and sit outside and always thoroughly enjoy it.

We sat upstairs outside the view was great and so was the coffee . We ordered baguettes which were freshly made very tasty and reasonably priced too. Will definitely return on our next visit to Scarborough

Worst fish and chips ever, old oil left chips tasting like rubber even a dollop of ketchup did not help mask the taste, fish was coley cheap rubbish yet charged £6.50 for it yuck 🤢

Disgusting the chips were so greasy that couldn’t even mask the awful old oil taste with sauce salt and vinegar and fish was cheap and awful, the whole place was dirty, the bathroom was an experience I would rather wee outdoors as would be cleaner, how has this place not been closed for public hygiene risks??????

Lovely fish and chips eaten in open air on outside tables and chairs. Quick service, well organised and friendly service.

I don’t know how they do it, but no matter how many times I visit the hatch for some breakfast and fresh air before work, it’s great. Crispy bacon, toasted roll. Arrive before 9am and it’s discounted too. The only thing to top it off is a mug of milky coffee (just ask for a mug if you don’t want polystyrene) and the ever changing North Bay view.

Really weren’t feeling the complimentary breakfast at hotel, and had been recommended this place by that font of all knowledge, local cabbie, the night before. And the breakfast delivered. ‘Standard fayre’, but cooked well and not greasy. Me personally go by the quality of the hash brown, and was not disappointed with a triangle of golden deliciousness that leapt merrily down the red lane with a plump sausage and crispy bacon. Lovely mug of tea to wash it all down, and have to say really friendly lady who served us telling about all the great things you can see in the magnificent sea view. Including dolphins, who alas were otherwise engaged when we were there, but didn’t let down a fab view to enjoy our breakie!

We went upstairs to eat with 2 children and it was empty. Really clean and a nice view over the bay from the outside veranda and the jacket potatoes were lovely. BUT! the middle aged lady that was serving with a younger girl was almost confrontational! As we were having a private conversation about a parade we had seen last time we in Scarborough she stood with her hands on her apron and said "No that's not right we've never had that here" to which one member of our group said "yes I watched it" the lady was rude and abrupt in her response so the member in our party googled the parade to show her, she huffed and mumbled something under her breath and walked away. Shame really because the setting in lovely but for us that particular staff member wasn't.

We visited on bank holiday Sunday. On venturing upstairs i found a small queue of one. At the counter staff were getting very flustered as the queue grew. The staff member said to me why do customers all come at once.

I cannot believe the way my family was spoken to by the older blonde woman. Never in my life have I been spoken to like this before over a mix up with the order. I was told I was a liar when I informed her one of the items was wrong! This woman is just blatantly rude and suggest she gets a job in a prison; this is much more suited to her character! The food was ok, what you would expect for a cheap greasy spoon. Obviously I won’t return here. Hoping someone else takes over this place as the location is great.

It was raining when we visited so took advantage of the covered seating area to the side. Really good value (coffee at £1.30) was a large cup nice and hot. Chips were well cooked and the best curry sauce I’ve had anywhere. Great atmosphere too as it’s popular with bikers so had a chance to look at the bikes parked outside. Lovely north bay view too.

After finding the "top" fish and chip shop too busy we headed to the front and found this place. It was busy(surprising after our food). Queue for take away slow and very dirty(brown sauce all over the floor - public side). Our order was taken and we waited ages. Sadly the wait was not worthwhile with very(at best) mediocre Fish and Chips, poorly served and packaged. Loads of staff did not make any difference. Perhaps this was just a bad night, but I'll never return.

What’s lovely restaurant upstairs looking out over the sea. We were greeted by a lovely lady who never stopped smiling throughout our visit. We ordered and while waiting had a lovely cup of tea. The food was delicious. What a delight to be greeted by a smile and chat when she wasn’t busy. This little gem of a cafe was well worth the visit.

Called in for coffee and enjoyed the view over the sea - help by one of the best summers we’ve had for a while. Ordering cappuccinos, we were expecting cappuccinos - but no, their version is only milky coffee. Disappointing

We visited this cafe on a day trip Scarborough. On arriving we were approached by one of the ladies working there, she took our order and chatted to us. When the food arrived it looked delicious I ordered a prawn baguette and my husband ordered the tuna and cheese melt baguette they were gorgeous and the bread was fresh and still warm, the salad wasn't limp and was obviously only prepared when needed. The ladies who work there Vee and Syd were lovely, polite and very attentive! If you want fresh, quality food and excellent service then visit the oasis cafe you won't be disappointed!

Can’t beat a brew and a bacon bap from Oasis... always drop in for a brew and the view is spot... tip.. always ask for your brew in a mug otherwise it’ll come in a polystyrene cup.

Visiting Scarborough for first time! Can say this ‘greasy spoon’ is the most dreadful for service, rude staff and disgusting food! Do yourselves a favour- go somewhere else.

Never felt so uncomfortable asking for a drink in my life. As soon as we had walked in the lady was snapping at us to order before we’d even had a look at the menu and after simply ordering just a hot drink, she ordered me to “wait here for it then”. After all that, the drink was barely luke warm and I felt the lady was too aggressive that it wasn’t even worth complying that we just left.

Woman running the kitchen was rushed and on her own until joined by a younger woman, sheseemed quite stressed and struggling to cope with the orders when she was on her own, food was not great quality (breakfast) and not very hot. Wouldn’t go back though staff were nice, they just need more of them,

Called in this morning for brunch. Greeted upstairs by a very friendly lady who recognised us from an earlier visit on Tour De Yorkshire weekend. Food & service very good. Excellent views from the balcony tables. Will definitely return !!

We called in for a coffee and cake.

This cafe has a fantastic view of North Bay.It does takeaway but we went upstairs to the cafe and we both had a very nice plate of scampi chips and peas.. which also came with salad / coleslaw.Bill was under £20 including 2 drinks...we felt it was great value factoring in the view. Service was fine...a slight wait but it was piping hot.

We used to go here 20 years ago when our kids were little for a cup of tea, some chips and watch the waves in the north bay. You used to get proper mugs as well in those days. It used to be a lot smaller and has been massively upgraded over the years with an upstairs cafe. Today we were in Scarborough for some fish and chip so called in. The actual food was really good, the curry sauce was exceptional. Tea and coffee were still served in proper mugs on request. Good prices as well. Overall, very good and service was ok as well.

Visited this so called restaurant May 6th 2018. The "Boss" who was a middle aged woman upstairs was the most rude individual I have ever had the misfortune to experience. The place wasn't that busy but the food took 45 minutes to get to the table. By the time it arrived the food could only be described as verging on cold. When we finished I went to the till to attempt to pay the bill but the final straw was when I asked if I could pay I was told I'd have to wait as the "Boss" was buttering bread and the young lady who I asked said that she wasn't allowed access to the till, at this I asked how much it would be and I would just leave the money. I still never got a reply re the cost. Eventually after What seemed liked 5 or 6 minutes the "Boss" came over and I said what I thought of the service and maybe more waiting staff or more fryers might be needed. To which she replied "All the food is fried fresh" to which I replied "That is the issue here then, more waiting staff and then the food wouldn't as you would get it out on time" I told the "Boss woman" that I would be saying something to which she just scoffed and said "you already have" I never right negative posts but I feel someone who was more vulnerable would find this kind of service quite traumatising. If I could give some advice to the owners of this business, look at the upstairs "Bosses" attitude as she will have a very negative impact on your business.
