Food not too bad atmosphere noisy staff, not very helpful no draft beers only alternative was to pay extra for bottled beer but had had already paid for the meal deal and not offered a alternative poor service sorry

We were staying at the premier Inn next door and had paid for 3 meal deals that includes breakfast and a two course dinner with drink. The evening meals were lovely. Nice food and good service unfortunately the breakfasts let the place down. The breakfast on Sunday was ok. Very basic but nice enough. Only issue was there was no pure orange and I overheard a member of staff saying it's too expensive so they don't have it, they try to trick you with dilute orange but not exactly the end of the world just odd. Monday and Tuesday breakfast was a different story...they were constantly running out of hot food on the buffet, people were just standing around with empty plates waiting for food. No juice, they weren't being filled up, no coffee in the drinks machine, no Weetabix and the tables were not very clean and you were sticking to the floor walking around. Such a shame you could see a dramatic difference between the weekend and in the week. We're booked back into the premier Inn later in the year so hopefully it's improved by then.UPDATE...now been back (aug 24) breakfast just as bad if not worse. There must have been at least 8 tables with reserved signs on every morning so people were wandering around trying to find somewhere to sit. In the whole time we were in the restaurant over 3 days... nobody ever used these reserved tables and we noticed that throughout the day they were still reserved and people were struggling to find somewhere to sit. I'll be honest... it's a shambles. Such a shame...we thought they may up their game in the summer but obviously not, and its the same staff. I will say that the food is nice but the whole breakfast experience is one of the worst we've seen and we are frequent travellers.

They are hiring staff and need them. The lady couldn't clear tables quick enough before someone else was wanting to sit down. It's certainly popular and the full breakfast buffet was ACE! I have never so much cooked breakfast, croissants and coffee!!

Came in planing to have lunch and a coffee. Only ended up having a coffee as the state of the place put us off eating. Dirty floors and stains on walls , food on floor at 11.30am, very dusty all over the place. If the seating area is this dirty , don't want to see the kitchen . Lad on counter friendly and attentive but the female seemed to be utterly pissed off at being at work. Swerve this place in future !

Every component of the English breakfast was well seasoned, fresh and of good quality. Unlimited coffee/tea/juice. Cereals, fruits, bakery and various food accoutrements. And the place opens early. There is a paid shopping centre parking right opposite.

Had our dinner there was lovely. We stayed in the premier hotel and breakfast was linked to carousel bar not fused must admit.

Not all selections were available, but the food was well cooked and the service good (40 min wait but we were advised at time of order)

Nipped in for a bite and a beer and it didn't disappoint as always

This is the place to go to........ If you like cremated food! We were on a meal deal at the Premier Inn next door where we have stayed & have eaten at The Carousel before and enjoyed it. However something has drastically changed and the food & hospitality has sadly nosedived over since last year. No friendly welcome & shown to your seat just find a table & go to the bar to order. 2 ladies serving behind the bar the younger of the 2 very pleasant when serving & interestingly wasnt adding the do you want to tip option everytime we went to the bar however the slightly older of the 2 young ladies was pushing the tip buttton on the card machine at every option then walking away without showingvyou how to take it off luckily i knew and knocked it off then paid which when you do automatically opens the cash till right in front of you within hands reach.....its asking for trouble for the sake of a tip! Main meal we had came out & mine was totally cremated to a degree that stabbing it with a fork shot the goujon across the room! I thought wait while the young lass who served the food comes back to see if everything was ok.... she never did & you dont expect to have to leave your partner eating alone while you go to the bar to complain, so in the end i just left the burnt offerings on my plate hopefully somebody stuck it in an urn to give it a better send off than the service we had. To add more insult to injury part of the meal deal included breakfast all you can eat serve yourself sort of deal UNLESS YOU WANT BACON! as they had not got any and awaiting a delivery which is starting to occur more often at premier inns with regards food where local managers are not allowed to source bacon elsewhere if a delivery does fail to arrive. If you want poached eggs expect a 20+minute wait on a not very busy day despite ordering them as soon as we were shown a seat we had actually finished our cereals queued for whatever luke warm cooked breakfast was left eaten it before our snotty undercooked poached eggs arrived at our table! Come on Whitbreads/Brewers Fayre get yourselves sorted out to what you once were as your losing customers listening to other guests this morning. As for people coming in off the street to pay for a cooked breakfast make sure you ask is everything on the menu available as staff were taking walk ins money without telling them there was no bacon it was only when they got to the hot food breakfast bar that they were then told..... TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE & UNSCRUPULOUS way of treating customers. Be up front & honest tell your customers either paying on the door or on a meal deal before sitting down that some items like the main item {bacon} not been available.

Really nice food and drinks here during our short stay in a local hotel in Scarborough, I had the mixed grill which was excellent value and one of the best I've had for a long time, the wife had a steak which was well cooked and again good value. Drinks were well priced and not overly expensive. Service was good also

Really nice, forget wetherspoons just come here to eat and have a drink in a better atmosphere. Unlimited tea and coffee which is unusual after breakfast serving so added bonus.

We went for the Sunday carvery right after it had been revamped and the food was delicious, the beef was pink in the middle, generous portions etc. I could tell they had “advisory” staff in helping out. We had never visited before (it’s not our kind of place but nowhere else does good carveries here) but we were so impressed with it that we came back about 4 times subsequently over the following few months. I actually told the waiter that we would be back because of how good it was and he just looked at me blankly and shrugged. Over that time the quality just took a nosedive. They started cremating the beef, the place became kind of dirty. Queues were poorly managed and chaotic. Understaffed so the servers were struggling. The beef was the main kicker for me. The rest of the food and the menu just looks like garbage so I wouldn’t ever bother with that. I saw people just leaving entire plates of food on their tables and walking away. It’s a shame they potentially had opened up a new customer base with their revamped carvery, but then squandered it and just went back to their old ways. I’d like to come back because I like how big and open and also private and comfortable the environment can be. This can be corrected but I don’t think they can be bothered.

The food wasn't overly hot, but it was tasty. The banoffee cheesecake was utterly disgusting, it was like eating lard. How they think it tastes good is beyond me. Lesson learnt for our next visit. Staff was lovely . We waited about 45 min for our meal and it may have been longer had I not mentioned the fact that people who arrived after we did were getting served their food before us. All in all it was OK. It was our 49th wedding anniversary today and we went to this particular establishment as we enjoyed it thoroughly the last time we went.

We had burgers we were disappointed with thd portion sizes everything tasted really good there just wasn't enough esp for the price we paid, staff were polite and friendly.

Evening meals good. Gluten free menu available. Buffet breakfast awful. Fried eggs like rubber. Fresh fruit not varied or very fresh.

The chicken fajita bigger was out of this world. Will defo be back to try that again. Great service and lovely atmosphere.

Eleven of us ate here last Sunday early evening. We managed to get a table quite quickly. Because there was so many of us we wrote our order on a piece of paper and ordered food at the bar. Some of the food arrived cold, particularly the corn on the cob. Two of us ordered smothered chicken but the dishes were brought to the table without the BBQ sauce or the melted cheese, basically we got a piece of chicken with bacon on top. I returned my meal to the kitchen and a fresh meal was brought to the table but all my family had finished their meals by the time I got mine....therefore I didn't enjoy the eat out experience here at all. I wouldn't eat here again.

One of our favourite places to eat. It was quiet when we went.Ben looked after us very well. My husband is a wheelchair user,,and Ben took the trouble to remove a chair for him. Then he took our order and payment at the table, He was very helpful.Food is great and good value. Thankyou Ben.

Shame I had to put even one star Disgusting food! Gluten free and they serve sauces in a dish so you’re unable to check if it is gluten free. Thick and uneducated Food was over cooked and incorrect and the breakfasts apalling. The scrambled egg was just water like vomit No refund which alone is disgusting ! Sam the managers response was we have a better chef on tomorow!! AVOID

The roast vegetables were dried up and burnt. The following morning, times for breakfast were shown to start at 6.30am to 10.30am. My husband and I has stayed overnight at the Premier Inn and were down first thing for breakfast, he has diabetes and he needs his food early in the morning. There were cereals but no hot food available. Other guests started to fill up the dining area, still nothing. It was 45 minutes later that breakfast was eventually available. It was dreadful.

We went at 8.30am on a Sunday, the place was packed and unstaffed, the server told us this when we paid and said there would be a small delay on food. I said I understand and things happen. During the whole experience of the breakfast staff was rushed off their feet, doing everything within their power to deliver the best service they could with such little staff. Also side of doing everything they could, they also had to contend with customers been rude towards them, barking orders at them like they wasn't real people just trying to do their best. I really felt for the young girl server who took most of the frustration from the customers, and she still went about trying to do her duties. We will be coming back again but customers need to remember the staff are people not robots. Well done to the Sunday morning team who pulled it out the bag

The service was very slow - we waited ages for food.

The worst place I have ever been for service, one person behind the bar taking all orders, food and drinks, ok, but after taking the order has too the drinks as well so anyone wanting a drink first and then order food has to wait in line, what made it worse there was staff behind the bar saying sorry you have to queue, I am staying at The Premier Inn and there staff cannot do enough to help you, maybe the management of The Carousel should take lessons from them, would NEVER recommend.

Total rubbish....from walking in to walking out,staff have not got a clue about anything ,bar staff ? Don't get me started !!! Never do a brewers fayre again !!!

Two courses took two hours to serve, desserts hadn't been processed despite being ordered, sauce requests ignored and staff generally inattentive and rude. Cannot recommend (especially as there are so many other family friendly eateries in the area). We are staying at Premier Inn but turned down the offer of breakfast here based on the poor service received.

Didn’t even get chance to order food, ended up looking at different restaurants while finishing our first round of drinks. My daughter is autistic and has specific safe foods so eating out can be a challenge, especially with staff like the ones in this establishment. I asked 2 waiters if I could get a meal from the kids menu but in an adults portion and they BOTH agreed that would be no problem at all (as it isn’t much of an ask). Upon ordering, the waiter on bar very rudely stated it would be impossible as it “confused the kitchen staff”. Personally I don’t see what is very confusing about this small request. The attitude of the waiter was unacceptable and completely unprofessional. Me and my family took our business to a different restaurant and didn’t even look back.

Decent pub. Well situated. Large floor area with plenty of room and seating. Good choice of beers. Toilets were clean, staff polite. Reasonable prices.

Came in for breakfast . Plenty of choice the hot food was well cooked hot and plenty of it. Hats off the breakfast chef Nathan I believe. We were looked after by June she is lovely and very hardworking. Well organised even when busy all the staff seem happy and friendly .will definitely return

Went here on Mother's Day, however it wasn't particularly busy but we were waiting ages for our main course, and again for desserts. There was only 2 of us. There's seemed to be a shortage of staff. We were in the pub almost 3 hours when it should have been half that time! However, to be fair, we did enjoy the food, just poor service

evening meal was nice , no issues there we then came back in the evening for them to call last orders at 20.45 because it was quiet ?? well what about hotel guests who where still arriving and staying with you , very poor excuse if it's quiet ask some staff to go early , don't impact on the guests staying with you at the PI. Breakfast good food what was available, no orange no apple juice no mushroom , I asked for white sugar to be told they had ran out , well go next door and get some from the PI or house keeping trolleys very poor and lazy service, overall put PI stay was great , but the restaurant needs serious look at

First time here and June our waitress was very attentive. Vegan sausages and bacon as well as gluten free toast. Also dairy free milk available. The place was spotless and we will definitely visit again as it was also great value for money. 👍👍👍

Booked Breakfast 10/03/24. Not busy thought great. Told fresh fruit juices available Turns out it was dilute cordial YAK. Hot breakfast items looked hardly cooked or looked like rubber. Waited for up to 10 minutes for bacon 🥓 sausage etc to come out. Dirty cups for hot drinks. Overall food areas dirty Cookhouse & pub bridlington 100% better than carousel Carousel 0 /10 Cookhouse 10/10 Just saying

This was not the level of service that we have come to expect from brewers fayre. Most of the limited staff were pleasant and helpful, but one in particular was extremely rude and surly . Delivery of meals to the table were spaced out at 5 minute intervals despite asking for all to be served at the same time. A distinct lack of staff led to long delays between courses. Descriptions of meals on the menu did not match with what actually appeared!! A disappointing mother's day experience

We rang up to see weather we needed to book for mother's day got told no need to book be there for 12 and we got there for 1130 to be told no seats available my daughter who is only little was crying as she was looking forward to going very disappointed 😞 as we hv use this place alot on a Sunday but after this experience it's kind of put me of especially seeing my daughter upset / crying communication is poor not happy at all

Went for breakfast our first visit very very bust bank holiday Saturday for the amount of customers in staff did very well keeping up clearing tables and keeping the buffet well stocked good value we will be back cheers

Do not use this pub!!! Not only is the food awful but they fraudulently said I did a transaction with them for 64.00 pounds 10 days after our original visit. So we are working with the bank fraudulent team

An absolute shambles, we ordered meals and items were wrong, items were also missing. The food was delivered cold and we were asked cooking preferences, but they were ignored. Extras, like gravy didn’t arrive, we were told several times that it would arrive in one minute, but never arrived. We were never asked if everything was okay, infact we had to all but pin down the staff who did their best to avoid us. In summary, food was very expensive and poor quality, we could have gone to several different pubs in Scarborough and paid half price for the same type of food menu. If you like overcooked and overpriced food, give it a try. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this place.

Went here when we stayed at the adjoining premier Inn. Food was nice . The ultimate breakfast was £9.99 and you can eat as much as you like cooked breakfast & continental ... kids eat free with 1 paying adult which was amazing

The Carousel Scarborough Very Friendly Staff and very accommodating to our daughters special needs. Very understanding and a Fantastic service. We booked a Table for my daughters 7th Birthday Meal and explained her condition and needs. They were brillaint at understanding and went above and beyond. The Food was delicious and cooked to perfection (by far the best we have had in a long time in Scarborough) Drinks are very well priced and atmosphere is very family friendly and nice. All in All we would love to go back highly recommend 10/10

Nice and friendly atmosphere, service was ok, but very very short staffed! The food was awful, we got smothered platter and it was the dryest, tasteless food ever! Steak was that over cooked it flew off the plate when trying to cut through it. There was no colsow or sauces. We tried cheese burger fries, again supposed to be smothered and their was a tiny bit of cheese. We ordered cheesecake for desert and waited after our main meals for ages to be told there wasn't any. On a plus we replaced it with a brownie which was rather tasty 😋. Went in to the restaurant at 6pm. Food arrived at 7:45pm desert at 8:15. Wouldnt eat here again. Nor would I recommend.

Had an evening meal here and breakfast. The evening meal was standard pub chain fayre, the breakfast however was terrible, twice we went down (from Premier Inn room), to find most of the cooked breakfast items were empty, the refills came out at different times which meant eating sausages, waiting for bacon, the going up again for mushrooms & scrambled egg ..... I like to have my breakfast all on the plate at the same time, ....... short staffed, hard to get hold of and not very helpful. Evening staff were fine.

Fourteen of us had Christmas Dinner, the food and service was excellent, lovely staff all very friendly, really nice relaxed atmosphere. Dan and Connor who dealt with me when booking were both so efficient and made sure everything was perfect on the day, thankyou all so much, you all made our time with you fabulous.

Served straight away from bar staff, starter came out pretty much straight away, no check back, no nothing. Was okay. Then waited ages for our mains, 3 couples had come in around 20 mins after us and got their mains and puddings straight away, our pudding nearly came out before our mains, like eh? How do you work that out. Service was terribly slow. Two tables got a check back, we never did. I asked for my steak to be medium, you’d of broke the floor before the knife cut the steak, it was more than well done. Only thing that was nice was gammon. I’ve been wanting to try here for about a year now and it’ll deffo be my first and last. I’ve never spent so much time in one single restaurant. Totally messed our Friday up, we had plans. Disastrous evening to say the least, then to top that off 15 mins later my partner ends up poorly and spewing up! No ask if everything’s okay or nothing. Absolutely poor service

Was looking forward to carvery but no roast spuds gravy was like dish water, mash was bit dry even with gravy on, nice place clean and warm, plenty of room to sit.

Worst experience with food at the carousel today. We have been here loads of times before and this is the worst its been. Staff are always lovely, but think the guy at the carvery was new every chance he could he was walking away. Sprouts rock solid gravy watery stuffing not cooked fully gammon very very fatty and roast potatoes so dry. There was only a few things I could finish on my plate left the majority of it. I ordered a refill drink and didn't get told about them not doing Dr pepper anymore but the Morreti was fine Don't think we will be back unfortunately 😔

Popped in for a quiet drink.and it was a quiet drink.handfull of people.but OK.it the time of year.

We waited 1hour 30minutes for our food. People who ordered after us got served before us. Only one person on bar. I wouldn't recommend it on a Saturday night.

Very nice value meals. Cheap bottle of wine but very good value. So enjoyed the cocktails for £10. Staff excellent 👏 we will be returning. Excellectent treat after an afternoon shopping. Much improved from last year 👏 👌
