Brewers Fayre in Scarborough

Liam was extremely helpful and patient when we were experiencing difficulties with the blue light card app.Our food and drinks were processed before payment completed to ensure our food was being prepared.

A* breakfast despite being very busy

Had a lunchtime meal and we were served at the counter by Caitlin. She was very friendly, helpful and made some good suggestions as to meal choices we might like. Allergy restrictions taken seriously which was reassuring. The meal itself was very nice. We had various meals between us including gammon and chips + lasagna & garlic bread. Good size portions considering we choose from the Value menu (£6 a meal)...and much nicer than recent pub grub we have had elsewhere. Lovely desserts too. The pub was quiet considering it was Friday lunchtime but still had a pleasant atmosphere. Everything was nice and clean and we would definitely consider going here again. Well done to all the staff... and especially Caitlin👍

It was my birthday on the Thursday and my son treat my there 5 of us and my fellow didn’t get ht he asked for we told the assistant she was arrogant and slapped the eggs on the table. Because he asks for eggs and. Food was cold

Very good breakfast £11 each and kids eat free lots to choose from bacon eggs sausages ect bread yoghurt, fruit, buns, croissants coffees galore beat place in Scarborough if you have fussy kids or not.wheelchair freindly. We were late in and the staff members couldn't do enough for us.Thank you.

Sadly Brewers fayre are going downhill fast chap produce. I will say it was inexpensive but owners need to return to previous suppliers.

The service was very slow and when the food came seven chips and seven peas and a small pie and it was cold what a waste of money

Air conditioning blowing cold continuously. Member of safe said to move where I was sitting because she was very warm, not for the amount of work she was doing.

Had a lovely meal with a colleague. Sophia took our order and brought our meal over.she gave excellent customer service.she promoted the offers that were available to sign up to.A very happy smiley young lady...great service and food we will be returning again.

Very nice atmosphere and very polite staff clean area

Came with my partner at 7am for breakfast after traveling, doors where not open, was mwt by a rude member of staff who asked if we had a booking - obviously not at 7am. Told us if we could be in and out in 5 mins we could have breakfast - don't actuality believe it. 300 bookings at 7am? Hmmmm don't think that's realistic especially on the 4th of January. 5 mins to eat a meal in a buffet? Maybe have a think about re training your staff.

Went on Xmas day and it was a total shambles staff where run off their feet the tables where not even set waited over 30 minutes to be seated then only to be told the staff had lost our order so that took another 30 minutes to sort out and In the middle of all that the staff where arguing with each other not very professional at all will not be going back anymore

Paid £14 for a main meal burger and came more for a kids meal burger, burger sauce on it was size of a Very Small pea, took 45 mins wait and the place was almost empty, hubby had the gammon that needed cooking longer looked like it jumped in pan and back out again, we eat here regularly and the portions are getting smaller and smaller, will say the Sunday carvery is very good though especially if you go for 12-12.30pm

We ordered at like 1pm it didn't come untill an hour and a half later it came just for the STARTER the starters were tiny the garlic bread what I got for starter was so small it didn't fill no one I don't recommend this place at all I do recommend wetherspoons it's only a 2 minute walk from their.

Staff, not welcoming, we changed our plans to stay for a meal, one drink and we left for somewhere with better atmospher. Back at Premier Inn before Christmas 2024, will try Carousel again hope bar staff are a bit more welcoming.

Had to get some napkins and cutlery from another table as they hadn't been replaced. Staff appeared not to be interested in the customer experience, I felt like an inconvenience. Artifical plants were thick with dust. Food wasn't amazing either... ingredients lacked quality. Quite disappointed having visited a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

Nice restaurant, staff were very friendly, not too busy. Lovely Christmas decorations. Food was lovely, we had the festive menu which was a great price. Great offers for Monday to Friday too so we will definitely be back.

Food good and good selection of drinks

For a large pub and the fact it was late on in the day on a Saturday, it was very clean and the staff were very polite. Food was good and nice selection of beer.

Brilliant value for money. A few of the staff members were not overly customer friendly especially with children with special needs. All the food was hot and plentiful, good coffee and clean areas, would recommend though.

The menu had a great range and tasted great, the staff were friendly, helpful and polite.

Stayed at the connected hotel but couldn't get breakfast at the Brewers Fayre they had run out of food & had not restocked..VERY DISSAPPOINTED

Everyone was complaining about cold food and waiting over an hour to get it so after waiting half an hour to be told it would be at least another 30 or so mins we gave up asked for an refund and left as we had 2 small hungry boys who couldn't wait any longer

We arrived just before 9pm. Ordered 2 pizzas, onion rings and chips. Margherita was very tough, chips were good. Onion rings were not so good. Other pizza was pepperoni, ham and chicken, which was ok. Refillable soft drinks is good value.

I went in this morning to order a Christmas dinner I saw Andy Really great guy lovey to tlak to and very helpful but he was in is own he amazing guy and very hard worker looking for ward to my Christmas dinner with my family

The staff were lovely but rushed off their feet. 3 of us got food, 2 meals which were just ok. We had fish which had a thick batter and difficult to cut. We also got a pizza and it smelt off. Took one bite and it was awful. Complained and we were refunded the cost. At £13 it was overpriced for the quality. I would not eat here again.

Can't drink sugar free stuff and they kept charging me for more drinks woman behind bar was absolutely rude won't come again

Clean and tidy good service food excellent quality

The hot food at breakfast was a bit chaotic this morning. Seemingly the kitchen was short staffed. The two front of house staff were doing an excellent job keeping up to everything else. It won't put us off having breakfast here next time we stay in Scarborough.

We only had drinks to start but after a fair few we ordered a pizza this was excellent

Plates were hot. Hot food was also hot. The pint slipped down nicely. The divider between us and our fellow diners had dust me written on it. Almost felt like asking if they had a vacancy for a cleaner 😂

Just been for Tea. My wife had gammon steak which was unedible, riddled with fat and grizzle. I had steak and ale pie, the steak and gravy was pleasant enough but the pastry was like a brick it was that hard. The peas were dry and the mash had great texture but it was rancid with butter. The young girl serving us, Chelsea was very nice but ran off her feet. Clearly understaffed. Sorry not for us.

Food not too bad atmosphere noisy staff, not very helpful no draft beers only alternative was to pay extra for bottled beer but had had already paid for the meal deal and not offered a alternative poor service sorry

We really only called for a toilet visit on our way past. It was Saturday night about 10 and it was dead. I ordered a half each of lager and cask bitter. The girl served a pint of lager but half of bitter. The bitter was horrid and vinegary. Returning to the bar, staff ignored me initially but, when I called, I was told she couldn't deal with me. The server reappeared after a couple of minutes, didn't respond to my complaint and didn't offer a replacement drink. When I pushed the point, she agreed I could have a half of cider but had to get a manager to do the till. Neither apologised for the vinegar or engaged in any attempt at customer service.

Food ok a little untidy but it was just after tea so to be expected staff friendly

Nice Carvery but not much choice of veg

First time we have visited for several years and I am pleased to say that it's much improved.

I liked this place finding a table was easy but it did get busy soon after I order my food it's a big place with lots of tables .

We stayed at the Premier Inn next door and popped into the Carousel for breakfast and drinks later. The staff were always really unfriendly and unwelcoming. We had children with us and wanted somewhere to go for drink but were turned away at 9.50pm by staff saying they are closing as she was pregnant and needed to close early. Considering it was holiday season/peak time, I would expect the bar to stay open until 11pm as advertised and not closed early or turn families and customers away who are wanting a quiet drink or have children. I'm very disappointed as there are not many places to go where they would allow children after 9pm and that was one of the reasons I chose to stay at the Premier Inn.

Had breakfast , bacon was still in the sty , had to make our own toast using the only toaster there so our food was freezing by the time we had made it and we didnt know there was one until we asked another customer as we didnt get told where anything was , we paid and we just got told to find a table , no info on anything . No cutlery on table , tables were not cleaned off . Nearly £33 for that , never again

We had the Sunday Lunch it was lovely

We were staying at the premier Inn next door and had paid for 3 meal deals that includes breakfast and a two course dinner with drink. The evening meals were lovely. Nice food and good service unfortunately the breakfasts let the place down. The breakfast on Sunday was ok. Very basic but nice enough. Only issue was there was no pure orange and I overheard a member of staff saying it's too expensive so they don't have it, they try to trick you with dilute orange but not exactly the end of the world just odd. Monday and Tuesday breakfast was a different story...they were constantly running out of hot food on the buffet, people were just standing around with empty plates waiting for food. No juice, they weren't being filled up, no coffee in the drinks machine, no Weetabix and the tables were not very clean and you were sticking to the floor walking around. Such a shame you could see a dramatic difference between the weekend and in the week. We're booked back into the premier Inn later in the year so hopefully it's improved by then.UPDATE...now been back (aug 24) breakfast just as bad if not worse. There must have been at least 8 tables with reserved signs on every morning so people were wandering around trying to find somewhere to sit. In the whole time we were in the restaurant over 3 days... nobody ever used these reserved tables and we noticed that throughout the day they were still reserved and people were struggling to find somewhere to sit. I'll be honest... it's a shambles. Such a shame...we thought they may up their game in the summer but obviously not, and its the same staff. I will say that the food is nice but the whole breakfast experience is one of the worst we've seen and we are frequent travellers.

They are hiring staff and need them. The lady couldn't clear tables quick enough before someone else was wanting to sit down. It's certainly popular and the full breakfast buffet was ACE! I have never so much cooked breakfast, croissants and coffee!!

A lovely atmosphere in this pub. Food was cooked lovely, and service time was brilliant.

Came in planing to have lunch and a coffee. Only ended up having a coffee as the state of the place put us off eating. Dirty floors and stains on walls , food on floor at 11.30am, very dusty all over the place. If the seating area is this dirty , don't want to see the kitchen . Lad on counter friendly and attentive but the female seemed to be utterly pissed off at being at work. Swerve this place in future !

Had our dinner there was lovely. We stayed in the premier hotel and breakfast was linked to carousel bar not fused must admit.

*Unlimited Breakfast for Adults, and Kids eat for free* But this doesn’t mean they compromised the quality or the service. Every component of the English breakfast was well seasoned, fresh and of good quality. Unlimited coffee/tea/juice. Cereals, fruits, bakery and various food accoutrements. And the place opens early. There is a paid shopping centre parking right opposite.

Not all selections were available, but the food was well cooked and the service good (40 min wait but we were advised at time of order)

Food was good, and service very good, the place was clean and tidy, what let it down was the air conditioning, it was warm outside, but really cold inside, if they got the Air conditioning sorted , I would go again,

This is the place to go to........ If you like cremated food! We were on a meal deal at the Premier Inn next door where we have stayed & have eaten at The Carousel before and enjoyed it. However something has drastically changed and the food & hospitality has sadly nosedived over since last year. No friendly welcome & shown to your seat just find a table & go to the bar to order. 2 ladies serving behind the bar the younger of the 2 very pleasant when serving & interestingly wasnt adding the do you want to tip option everytime we went to the bar however the slightly older of the 2 young ladies was pushing the tip buttton on the card machine at every option then walking away without showingvyou how to take it off luckily i knew and knocked it off then paid which when you do automatically opens the cash till right in front of you within hands reach.....its asking for trouble for the sake of a tip! Main meal we had came out & mine was totally cremated to a degree that stabbing it with a fork shot the goujon across the room! I thought wait while the young lass who served the food comes back to see if everything was ok.... she never did & you dont expect to have to leave your partner eating alone while you go to the bar to complain, so in the end i just left the burnt offerings on my plate hopefully somebody stuck it in an urn to give it a better send off than the service we had. To add more insult to injury part of the meal deal included breakfast all you can eat serve yourself sort of deal UNLESS YOU WANT BACON! as they had not got any and awaiting a delivery which is starting to occur more often at premier inns with regards food where local managers are not allowed to source bacon elsewhere if a delivery does fail to arrive. If you want poached eggs expect a 20+minute wait on a not very busy day despite ordering them as soon as we were shown a seat we had actually finished our cereals queued for whatever luke warm cooked breakfast was left eaten it before our snotty undercooked poached eggs arrived at our table! Come on Whitbreads/Brewers Fayre get yourselves sorted out to what you once were as your losing customers listening to other guests this morning. As for people coming in off the street to pay for a cooked breakfast make sure you ask is everything on the menu available as staff were taking walk ins money without telling them there was no bacon it was only when they got to the hot food breakfast bar that they were then told..... TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE & UNSCRUPULOUS way of treating customers. Be up front & honest tell your customers either paying on the door or on a meal deal before sitting down that some items like the main item {bacon} not been available.

Really nice food and drinks here during our short stay in a local hotel in Scarborough, I had the mixed grill which was excellent value and one of the best I've had for a long time, the wife had a steak which was well cooked and again good value. Drinks were well priced and not overly expensive. Service was good also

Really nice, forget wetherspoons just come here to eat and have a drink in a better atmosphere. Unlimited tea and coffee which is unusual after breakfast serving so added bonus.

We went for the Sunday carvery right after it had been revamped and the food was delicious, the beef was pink in the middle, generous portions etc. I could tell they had “advisory” staff in helping out. We had never visited before (it’s not our kind of place but nowhere else does good carveries here) but we were so impressed with it that we came back about 4 times subsequently over the following few months. I actually told the waiter that we would be back because of how good it was and he just looked at me blankly and shrugged. Over that time the quality just took a nosedive. They started cremating the beef, the place became kind of dirty. Queues were poorly managed and chaotic. Understaffed so the servers were struggling. The beef was the main kicker for me. The rest of the food and the menu just looks like garbage so I wouldn’t ever bother with that. I saw people just leaving entire plates of food on their tables and walking away. It’s a shame they potentially had opened up a new customer base with their revamped carvery, but then squandered it and just went back to their old ways. I’d like to come back because I like how big and open and also private and comfortable the environment can be. This can be corrected but I don’t think they can be bothered.

The food wasn't overly hot, but it was tasty. The banoffee cheesecake was utterly disgusting, it was like eating lard. How they think it tastes good is beyond me. Lesson learnt for our next visit. Staff was lovely . We waited about 45 min for our meal and it may have been longer had I not mentioned the fact that people who arrived after we did were getting served their food before us. All in all it was OK. It was our 49th wedding anniversary today and we went to this particular establishment as we enjoyed it thoroughly the last time we went.
