Unfortunately a terrible experience, the food was brought out cold and not fit for human consumption! I ordered a burger that must have been sat in the holding area for way too long. Disappointing and won't be back.

We enjoyed the Sunday carvery as always. However we ordered 3 deserts, 2 came immediately but I ordered the waffle which had waffle, fudge, caramel sauce ice cream, cream and banana, I requested no fudge. When it came it had chocolate sauce not caramel, don't like chocolate so returned it asking for caramel sauce as per menu, when it came back there was caramel sauce but no ice cream. It went back again but for some reason the no ice cream confused everything. At this point the manager came over didn't know what had gone on and just asked if I wanted a refund, tried to explain but he didn't seem interested only in giving me a refund, he the asked if I wanted anything else such as an ice cream, as every one else had finished theirs I took the refund but felt really disappointed. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the desert advertised.

We’ve had a few parties at the Mayfield over the years, including Christenings… The Mayfield is a very much improved venue these days, and cannot fault anything regards our grandson’s christening party the other day. The function room was spotlessly clean when we arrived, music playing in the background, and Leah, the manager, tended the bar as well as put all the buffet out. The food was above expectations, especially the home made sausage rolls, which disappeared rapidly! I can very much recommend the Mayfield for these occasions, and is reasonably priced too!

Came here whiles camping for a pint or two decent beer on tap. neck oil 😋🍺 locals and staff friendly allow dog🐕 and cats🐈 in backpacks just what a pub should ,but im afraid if you would like to bring your budgie you wont be welcome 🐦🚫 5 star out of 5 would come again thank you !!! ⭐️

Managed to sneak in without a booking although I'd recommend booking as to not be disappointed as there weren't many tables free and it was busy. Ample parking at rear in designated car park and some spots at the front on the streets. Bar service quick and straight up for our carvery. My only critique would be that there was pork/turkey/beef as meat options and personally would loved to have seen gammon or lamb as I'm not a huge pork/turkey fan. I had the beef and my partner had pork and beef, cut thinly but I prefer it that way.... very tender and wonderfully cooked beef in particular with a nice pink centre. Large home-made yorkshire pudding and stuffing ball with a lovely crispy coating. The veg selection was above what I've experienced at other carveries, a really nice variety including roast potatoes, mashed potatoes (which were lovely and creamy!), swede and carrot mash, leeks and peas in a creamy sauce, cauliflower cheese, green cabbage, roasted carrots and parsnips and lovely meaty gravy plus all the cranberry, apple, horseradish and mint sauces. Even a small bowl of crackling for the pork lovers. Everything was delicious. Staff checked on us to see how the meal was and were cleaning up tables as soon as people had finished eating ready for the next customers. At £11.95 for a regular carvery we'd definitely go again and would recommend. A new favourite, I think!

It is very seldom I do not finish a meal out. On this occasion it was hard to start it. Unappealing in appearance the the steak and ale pie meal had just 10 minutes before serving must have been happily ensconced inside a freezer. Microwave moments later it was put in front of me. When the waitress took away the almost full plate she asked if I had enjoyed my meal!

Great place for Sunday lunch. Family friendly. Huge Yorkshire puddings and great selection of vegetables. Loved the gravy jugs so you can take extra gravy to your table. Recommend booking as it gets very busy on a Sunday.

Stopped for three nights for the wife's birthday 15-18 March 2024.We were allocated room 15 at the side of the premises overlooking the car park.Our room was warm,spotlessly clean and had all you would need for your stay.The bed was very comfortable,tea, coffee and milk supplied,plenty of drawers and hangers for your clothes,a spacious en suite with a walk in shower too. After unpacking we gave the pub restaurant a try and wasn't disappointed,The food was hot,tasty and reasonably priced,and the beer was good too.After a good night's sleep we were back in the restaurant for breakfast.The full English was cooked to order,hot,tasty and plentiful,it set us up for our day exploring Scarborough which is only 10 minutes up the road. Sunday evening on St Patrick's Day we took part in the quiz and had a great laugh,the staff and locals were great fun to be around,and they sure know how to enjoy themselves.We wouldn't hesitate to reccomend the Mayfield in Seamer for anyone looking to explore the area but have a more rural base.There is a bus stop close by if you fancy leaving your car and the busses are quite regular too.There's a post office and shop across the road for your papers,magazines etc. The Mayfield is very reasonably priced for what you get and my wife and I will be returning in the future,we loved it there.

We (and all other families dining in the family area) waited over an hour for food. We weren’t offered an apology for the delay and it appeared that some diners simply left without waiting for food. When the food did arrive it was not particularly appetising.

Fabulous tasty carvery , 6 fresh vegetables, a choice of 3 roasts, mashed potatoes and crispy roast potatoes, huge Yorkshire puddings , stuffing and lashings of gravy. Could not fault it and will definitely return

We stopped at this hotel for two nights and the staff were fine however, the room was small (room 5) and a odd shape. The floor of the room squeaked everytime you stood up and the heat from the kitchen below along with the kitchen fans made the stay very unpleasent in the end.

We went here as a group of couples ( one with a child and one with a dog ) Food was nice, staff attentive, it was A, dog friendly B, had an indoor kids play area We went because of both of these 2 plus points and would go again

We planned a trip to flamingo land / Scarborough for our young girls (3 years and 11 month) at the weekend and browsed through places to stay. We picked the Mayfield for the suite as it has 2 bedrooms, a living area and kitchen, we also opted for a travel cot to be provided as this was an option. We were quite surprised when we arrived at how different the apartment looks compared to the pictures advertised; it is beautiful! The 2 rooms are huge, both en suite with black out blinds, the living/ kitchenette area is very well furnished with literally everything we could possibly need. To mention the suite is directly above the bar area where there is live music on a Friday, this didn't affect nor wake either of the girls and the black out curtains meant they were none the wiser to the sinage lighting outside. Our girls wake at 5 and one is teething and the other fussy so I can't review the breakfast as we didn't opt for it. In summary we were really pleased and we will most likely be back!

We have been coming here for many years when on holiday. The carvery is always good. However…. We did go on a Sunday at 6pm so it was very busy and just didn’t impress me. As I said, the carvery service was great but the overall bar and customer service could have been be so much better. There is just a lack of attention to detail and effort at the till and it gives you the feeling of a franchise/multi chain establishment. It’s hard to rate overall as the carvery is good so you go back but the service does not match it sadly.

Put into family room, absolute mayhem. Outside was heaving with people, music booming out. This is 17.00 hours on Sunday. Most clients obviously been there all day. Don't go for carvery if anyone is over 40 years old and wants a quiet meal. Terrible place.

We stayed here for 3 nights the weekend was great food and service was great until Monday the staff then changed their attitude and seemed to concentrate all their attention to the contractors ie giving them table service and sitting down and eating with them we where waiting to order drinks while the girls chatted with the contractors.

I’ve been coming to this area now for over 15 years with business, we normally stay in Scarborough, but this week the hotel we normally use was fully booked so for 1 night thought I’d give the Mayfield a go. I thought the room, was great, clean and a nice modern layout, the bed was very comfortable and the shower powerful enough, good selection of soaps, shower gels etc …. All staff friendly and accommodating. So far so good. Only a couple of issues I have revolve around food, first off breakfast is only served from 8;00 am 🤷🏻‍♂️ which is too late if I need to be in work at that time, 7:00 would be a lot better, so opted for no breakfast and a McDonald’s instead. Secondly the bar food was a bit bland for me, nothing wrong with it just not particularly “exciting” I think if/when I stay again I would venture to the Copper Horse. The bar are itself was friendly enough with good selection of beers/wines/spirits/etc ….

Have been here a couple of times in the past but it's definitely gone downhill. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Got two kids meals. They had increased in price since my last visit. The portions and quality were not very good. The tomato pasta was inedible. Not much option for small adult meals. The same woman often goes to the play area with her two boys and doesn't supervise them. They were climbing up the small slide, climbing ontop of the play area and swearing. My niece left crying.

The food was very poor. Pies were factory bought, chips cooked in old oil. Table next to us complained too. We asked for two servings of one pie, there was only one left at 12.30pm. We had another instead. You could see the foil marks where it had been removed from the casing, but they swore it was home made. Meat content was poor and no ale gravy in the steak and ale. Cheese and broccoli pie had only one piece of broccoli in it. Again, not home made. Burgers were relatively ok. No coffee except instant, as apparently there were no coffee beans. Asked for cheescake from the menu and there was no cheesecake at all. Asked for ice cream for an adult and was given 1 scoop in a child’s cardboard tub. Will not return ever again

Visitors to the area. Food was passable, staff were unbelievably rude, found a table most of them were booked ours wasn't, ordered food and then despite waiting for desert staff demanded that we move as table was booked, spent almost £100 to hear the manager??? (not in uniform like everyone else) talking about removing you from the next table (not booked for another hour), personally id avoid, wont be coming back again, clearly the just want local visitors.

Nice place to stay. Stayed here in March with my partner. Clean rooms and good choice of drinks in the bar. Not bad for the value of money.

Ordered 2 burger piggy in the middle meals. The brioche bun was dry and broke into pieces. The burger was over cooked and dry. The chunky chips were ok but the onion rings were saturated in grease . TBH was not the best, told the waitress and she just shrugged her shoulders and said I’ll tell the chef, she never came back.

Booked in yesterday for the night (11th Feb) amazing hotel, lovely rooms, (we were in the new build part). Lovely, clean, smelling fresh and cosy. Had food in the pub it’s self, fast service and gorgeous food. Breakfast was lovely too, all staff are very polite and nothing is to much trouble, would definitely recommend and we will return at a later date. It’s close to Scarborough & Whitby so if you drive it’s definitely worth having a look.

We got off to a bad start when the lady restaurant manager barked at my wife if we had a reservation. The food was plentiful but all felt precooked and warmed up. Nothing felt fresh, just fried from frozen. The burgers sounded inviting as they were made specially by a local butcher for the restaurant, but again felt like they'd been frozen.Service was very average and the food unfortunately below average. The manager could do with chilling a bit and maybe smiling more; we didn't feel welcome.

Three of us spent 3.nights here 7-10 September.The bedrooms are modern and well equipped with smart TVs and a good shower.The breakfasts were good quality food , however the staff were different each day and the younger members definitely need some training. We called in to the Mayfield Restaurant at Seamer on our way back to Cayton Bay from a day out at Scarborough.Very friendly staff chilled atmosphere with well spaced out tables. We were so pleased when we found out they are dog friendly as we had our King Charles Cavalier with us and really didn't want to cook back at the lodge we are staying in.There was my wife, daughter and myself and we all ordered different meals. We were quite surprised to see the generous portions arrive at our table. Every meal was cooked to perfection, nothing was too much for the staff and it was nice to see young staff members with positive friendly attitudes. Needless to say we will be eating there again before we go back home. Would recommend a visit to the Restaurant and we also noticed the guests staying in the hotel side were walking through and eating in the restaurant. Well we’re do I start. We arrived bank holiday Monday 31/08/20. On arrival everything was great. Checked myElderly father in and when we got to the room which was small but ok we noticed the shower was in the bath. We stupidly expected a walk in shower being a modern hotel. I went and spoke with a manager asking if it was possible to change the room. She just looked at me and said no. Didn’t even check. So I asked if maybe they had something my father could use to stand on, to help him into the bath to have a shower. She looked at me and said we have a bar stool. I was shocked at her reply her people skills are appalling. We were booked in for food 7.30pm Monday night is curry night. By the time the mains came my son and myself went up to get our curry’s it was 8.45pm so the curry was dry and disgusting, the chef forgot to put the fish in the batter as my father had batter and chips. I paid for the meal and when I explained to the manager about our food her reply was sorry it is late on the evening. The next few days were better we are elsewhere. On our lastNight Friday my youngest son wanted plain pasta he’s a fussy eater. I asked and was told no the pasta was made up in the morning and mixed with the tomato sauce that they reheat for quickness. I did ask the same manager of it was possible that a small bowl of pasta could be quickly made up her reply no it takes too long. My god she should be demoted as her attitude and people skills are disgusting. Last orders was called 10pm every night as in the words of the same manger we need to go home as we are tired. The bar staff spot on this manager appalling

We were in the area to do some shopping and were looking for somewhere for lunch. We visited around 12.30. The dining area is large, well spaced out and very comfortable. The main offering was a carvery. A menu was available for alternative dishes. We opted for the carvery which was offered in three sizes. We couldChoose from four different roasts, Yorkshire puddings with a large selection of vegetables, gravy and sauces. Everything was beautifully cooked, well presented and delicious. We were too full to even look at the dessert menu. The staff were friendly and helpful and to top it off, very reasonable prices. We will definitely revisit.

My family and I came here for lunch on Tuesday and thoroughly enjoyed it! We were greeted at the back door by the manager, a lovely lady with glasses who quickly found us a table. All the tables were well spaced out making us feel very comfortable in the current circumstances. There wasn’t a long wait for food, even though it was very busy and to top it off we got 50% off our mains!! It was explained when we sat down if we download their company app we would get 50% off each main course! The food was yummy, the staff were very polite and the manager was very attentive and made us feel welcome. We will definitely be back!

The staff were all very friendly and helpful especially the manager a young lady with blonde hair and glasses who helped us download the loyalty app. The food was great both me and my wife had a baguette which was fantastic. We will definitely be making it a more regular visit!

Went to the Mayfield to take advantage of the help out to eat out scheme. Have been before, but went this time with my visiting family. Great food, good service. There was some people whining and whinging about having to wait, but I came to the conclusion that they are oblivious to this years events, or they’re just plain thick and stupid! Yes there was as slight wait, but when venues are on reduced staff, and having to deal with this new way of life and operation, then so be it! This is life now. Our server Chloe was great, nothing was to much trouble for her, and Gina was excellent. We all had a great night, and wouldn’t have any trouble or problems in recommending this lovely pub and restaurant!

Food fine but not very COVID safe, staff not wearing either masks or visors, a screen in front of pay point but staff serving to the side of this. We were sat in small alcove with 2 tables for 2 which meant one person on each table sitting back to back only small space between. Door from car park marked entrance only but customers also leaving through this door without challenge

Visited the Mayfield for a nice one night get away with my partner. Once pulling up at the Mayfield we entered through the reception area and rang the bell to check in, we were greeted by a young girl with glasses on and smartly dressed. We had a lovely 15 minute conversation about where is best to visit in Scarborough, as we have never been here before. She gave us the key and we went to our room. We were given room 15! What a fab room that was. Can’t explain how good our stay was. We Went down to the restaurant area around 8pm to see if we could grab a table. At this point it was full but spoke to the manager on shift who checked us into the hotel and she manage to sort us a table out very quickly! The staff all working as a team and making sure everyone was happy in the restaurant. A great experience and we will definitely be returning again.
