The place has been nicely done out in keeping with the whole site. We visited in January so the whole site was quiet so we didnt need to book in advance. The staff were friendly and the food was very nice and reasonably priced. We found the drinks to be very expensive, we paid a lot more here for a round than we did on the south coast which seems odd.

This pub is not good. Had a burger and it was horrible, went again today and it was closing at 4pm, they said the gas was off and they were closing!! If you like to have a drink or food I'd go elsewhere. To say this is a holiday place you would think it would be open all day everyday not as and when, I know its January and low season but was very disappointed and will not visit it again!

We have been holidaying at the Bay for the past 10 years and at each stay have been to the John Paul Jones pub on site. Yesterday evening (30/12/24) and this afternoon (31/12/24) we called in for a few drinks and ended up leaving a lot sooner than we had anticipated on both occasions. We know that there is new management and there has been a lot of staff changes throughout this year, however, Shelly left months ago and the settling in/transition period for the new management should surely be resolved by now. This afternoon, on one of the busiest hospitality days of the year, there were 3 staff, in total, working the bar, bringing out meals and clearing tables. Waiting approximately 20 minutes to be served at the bar is not acceptable due to poor rota management whilst also being told by the bar manager not to que in the only available space there is in the bar area which is just rude. When we left this afternoon there were approximately 15 people waiting to be served. The 2 staff bringing out meals and clearing tables were absolutely first class and I applaud them for keeping smiles on their faces. The service at the bar was a total disaster with no organisation or thought given to the customer experience whatsoever. As a footnote ….although the Bay uses being dog friendly as a selling point now that dogs and their owners are segregated into the smallest part of the pub it does have the feeling of a 2 tier system ….. I appreciate that not everyone is a dog lover but the current new arrangement could do with a rethink as most people visiting the Bay come with their 4 legged friends and being turned away due to no seating availability again is not a good customer experience.

5.30pm and couldn't get an inside table just for drinks. Apparently every table pre booked although it was empty waiting for the arrival of the booked people. We had to sit outside, thankfully it was not raining. They called last orders before 10pm on the first night we were there, so only had one drink. Very expensive for drinks when you're able to get them as there was only one member of staff serving, run off her feet. One staff member was guarding the door stopping access if you was looking to enter without having a reservation. Definitely bad management and under staffed. Buy your beer at tesco and stay in is my advice as there isn't much around unless you use transport in and out.

Would have been zero rating but not an option. Supposed to be a pub but weren't allowed in for a drink without booking for a meal and queueing in the food queue. Place looked a shambles with uncleared tables and one member of staff trying to do everything. Needlessly to say we left without joining the queue. Disappointing.

Service was very slow due to lack of staff. We ordered sirloin and they came back from the kitchen and told us there was none left and offed us rump as a replacement. One of the rumps was burnt and the other was served with salad and a dead caterpillar! 🤢The manager did refund that meal for us. On a positive note the pizza was lovely.

Really disappointed with our meal, I ordered a soup and was shocked, to say the least, about the portion size , literally half a bowl and when I asked the waiter if it was a mistake he replied that it was head office that control the portion size!!!! Shocking , considering I was charged £6.50 for literally 5 spoonfuls. Prices have risen so much in the last year, ridiculous! Unfortunately the pub lacks atmosphere and we won’t be back! Such a shame as we The Bay but there is a need for a decent pub whose sole purpose is not to rip you off!

This is a nice looking pub in a lovely holiday park. In general we had a lovely meal here. The service was really nice and the atmosphere was great. There were two separate kids menus for younger and older kids, which was good, The menu had lots of choice and most of the food and drink was delicious, but my husband’s burger was cold and my passion fruit martini tasted nothing like one. I wished I had just ordered a gin and tonic. These issues wouldn’t stop us eating there again when we stay at the Bay Filey and we found prices to be reasonable for a holiday park of that standard. We ate inside but there was some nice outdoor seating too.

On Saturday lunch time the bar wasn't too busy. Easily got a table. My partner had a burger and I had a goats cheese and onion tart. Nothing special but nice. We decided to book in for Sunday lunch. We both fancied a roast dinner. When I asked the barman what meat was on the Subday lunch, he looked at me like I was stupid and said "we don't do Sunday Lunch, have you seen the menu? " I felt a bit of a fool and thought maybe I'd seen an old menu but when I got back to our table I looked at the menu and it definitely started "Sunday Lunch" We asked the waitress and she said they hadn't done Sunday Lunch for years. The menus came printed from head office. Why not just put a sticker over it then. We ended up having the Steak pie. This was nice but again nothing special.

Situated on The Bay this on site bar is lovely outside and in, good selection of food and great staff. Very efficient but I would say the drinks are very overpriced- nearly£ 10 for a glass of wine and £25 for a bottle £30 odd pounds for Prosecco. This doesn’t encourage us to stay on site and visited only once this time. Happy Hour occurs on some drink - for us cocktails buy one get one half price - as with cocktails mainly ice. We are staying over Christmas this year but given the pricing would go elsewhere rather than hotel prices. Otherwise worth a visit

Do not waste your money in this establishment. Worse meal I have ever had put in front of me! Cottage pie with a few minuscule lumps of mince, a lot of mash potatoes served with a small spoon of baby leeks and half a carrot sliced. All for the the extortionate amount of £11.50 It’s a shame because this could be a nice place to spend the evening if they get their food menu sorted out, really lets The Bay down.

The food was beyond awful. How do you get 3 basic dishes so wrong? 1. Pepperoni pizza dripping in grease with an undercooked base. 2. Fish and chips with rock hard chips and tinned peas…. 3. Ultimate burger fresh from the freezer, very dry and over cooked. With the added benefit of a swarm of flies. For nearly £70 for 3 meals & 3 drinks, cook your own as this place needs shutting down! I did give this place the benefit of the doubt. We were last here 9 years ago and it was terrible then too but hoped that there may be a change of ownership or chef…. There were no other options on site. Interestingly, there is no mention of the John Paul Jones or menu in the welcome pack. Such a shame as this place could be a gold mine with the right leadership and chefs.

Stayed at the Bay with my partner and visited the John Paul Jones twice, first was with a complimentary voucher given to us from away resorts as our accommodation check in wasn’t ready for us. So we ventured to the pub on site, first impressions were good and for a Sunday late afternoon the place wasn’t overly busy but staff seemed helpful and friendly. We ordered 1 x pizza and 1 x cheeseburger (with fries), side of onion rings, 1 x pint of lager and 1 x Diet Coke, came to just shy of the £50 voucher we had been given. Food was ok, nothing special, certainly not worth £40+ in my opinion but as it was complimentary not an issue. Visited for second time another evening just for drinks, a pint of lager and a bottle of non alcoholic cider, came to almost £14.00. Over £7 for a bottle of non alcoholic cider! I couldn’t believe it and felt robbed. Safe to say we didn’t return after this. Not value for money in 2024 and just can’t find a justifiable reason for it to be so pricey. A nice place but I doubt we’ll ever return even if stopping on site again. With the opening of the Wetherspoons on next door Primrose Valley site, a 15 or so minute walk for much more reasonable prices for food and drink would be a better option, providing as we found, entry was no problem.

Having been a regular visitor to The Bay for the past 6 years we have been to the on site pub many times. Inside is lovely and comfortable with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. The most positive point for us is that it is dog friendly everywhere inside. However as a vegetarian and a vegan the most disappointing aspect is the menu itself, or rather the lack of choices on the menu. There is only one option on the main menu, the vegan risotto which was OK. There is a vegan pizza also available which my husband had, but as the veggie person he didn't like the vegan cheese. There needs to be more options eg you could offer a veggie version of the sausage and mash or the burgers. Last time we visited we had a jackfruit pie which was fantastic but this time there was only a lamb pie available. We will be returning to The Bay in a few months time but won't be eating here again unless the menu improves.

Superb Christmas Dinner, more high quality food than we could eat with friendly efficient service, including the table layout and crackes. We have eaten out for many Christmas Dinners and this has to rate as one of the best.

Terrible experience. Horrible atmosphere as soon as we walked in. The guy working there had an attitude problem, shouting at the young female waitress and telling the whole cafe that it was her second day. Had an argument with two other customers as they'd been waiting a while for two cups of tea. Even the customer said that he is stressed and he didn't like that and began arguing. Getting all the orders wrong and blaming the young waitress. Stated he is not taking anymore orders even though I'd been sat on the table and my mum ordered just before me. I had to tell him we were together. Such an uncomfortable atmosphere. How he works in hospitality/customer service is beyond me. Clearly the wrong industry. The poor staff, clearly not a very good trainer, but not his fault. AVOID as you'll only be left disappointed and leaving with a headache.
