My husband and I had the the most wonderful meal here. We both had the slow braised steak and stout pie, mash and peas. The pastry was amazing and the large chunks of steak and gravy were out of this world. The staff were very friendly and welcomed us and our dog, The room itself is quite small but that adds to the feel of the place and was very relaxed. There were lots of old, interesting artifacts around the room. The music was more wartime which was in keeping with the feel of the place and really nice to listen too. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. 5 star all the way!!!

Full English for £13, poorly cooked bacon; rubbery. One piddly little sausage . Hash browns where good and thats it. Could have got better from a motorway van. Website advertising pancakes but not on menu. Very disappointed

We returned here for a sixth year in a row and weren’t disappointed. Would definitely recommend to others - food is delicious with a varied menu and lots of vegetarian options. Food is some of the best in Whitby. Thank you!

Although it is slap bang in the middle of the tourist area, the Black Horse is our favourite pub whenever we visit Whitby. It is a relatively small pub with a cosy snug at the front and a slightly larger bar at the rear. The atmosphere is invariably cosy and the beers and Yapas (Yorkshire tapas!) are very good. The service is also welcoming and good.

Excellent food, a little expensive but worth it for a special treat.

We ordered 2 large fish & chips, the seafood trio platter & lamb kofta special with a couple of sides & drinks. Service from Heidi & team was warm & friendly. The food was excellent quality, really fresh and tasty. Great chips, batter was light and crispy on the fish & prawns. We were really impressed with the price of the sides, made a lovely change to not feel like you needed a bank loan for mushy peas & curry sauce! My only gripe was the price of a soft drink - £3.40 for a can of pop is a bit steep compared to the rest of the menu. Would recommend this place highly, just stick to a cuppa or a beer!

Gran pequeño café. No café barista pero eso estuvo bien para nosotros. Excelentes precios y una encantadora selección de artículos de desayuno y almuerzo. Pasteles y chocolate caliente fueron nuestro ir a hoy. Muy recomendable.

Visited on Friday and was appalled with how I was spoken to by a member of staff, he had fair hair that was balding, and a white shirt on so I assume he was the manager. The staff member served me my drink and accidentally spilt it mainly on me, but also my partner and dog, I was soaked. She was apologetic and cleaned it up before getting me a replacement beer that she spilt. I spoke to the staff member who told me that she apologised and replaced my drink. It was not their policy to give free drinks. I did say I got the pint I paid for, but I didn’t pay to be covered in beer, and soaking wet. Let alone being away from home with clothes I couldn’t wear, a dog that needed washing and having to walk back to my accommodation soaking and smelling of beer. Wherever I have worked before, or if I have seen people have drinks spilt on them. It has always been common curiosity to provide a free drink as way of an apology to the guests it has affected. Aside from being a business, as a human being, he should have bent over backwards to make sure the visitors were happy. I’m just shocked of the attitude of the guy. Accidents happen but it’s the way you deal with them that makes the business.

Couldn't fault the quantity cost or quality. Ordered from the vegan menu chips curry sauce and pea fritter. Only problem was the food wasn't piping hot surprising since it was cooked to order in a deep fat fryer.

Durante nuestra visita, fue extremadamente tranquilo, y al pedir productos específicos del menú, fue como si hubiéramos pedido el mundo. Ojos en blanco y actitud completa. Evitar a toda costa.
