Stopped in this tea room after a long walk along Cleveland way and I was not disappointed. The staff were lovely and the scone was honestly the best scone I have ever had. All of their cakes are homemade. My mum had the Victoria sponge and said it was also the best she’s ever had. Can 100% recommend.

Had an absolutely fantastic lunch here, with a prawn and lemon mayo doorstop of a sandwich, and a scone with jam and cream to follow. Loved that the cups of tea came in an amazing vintage teapot with a proper China cup and saucer and the brews tasted great. The staff were brilliant, and the spot was totally unique, sitting outside to watch people come up or down the iconic 199 steps. Overall, we had a lovely visit. Highly recommended!

A cunningly placed cafe at the foot of the Abbey steps, beckoning to the would-be mountaineer. The flat white was delicious. The coffee to milk ratio was perfect, not a pretend latte. Textured milk to give the velvet micro-foam with no signs of layering. Maximum taste in a small package. The cafe itself was quirky and welcoming. We loved the time capsule record decorations adorning the walls, and the staff were super friendly. But then it's Yorkshire, so everyone is :-) Highly recommended.

We called at this lovely little coffee shop with our grandchildren at lunchtime. We were lucky as 15 minutes later it was almost full. The proprietors are lovely people and provided us with exactly what the children wanted. I tried a bowl of the home made soup, one of the best I've tasted, and quite filling. All in all a pleasant experience, right on the main tourist trail, yet tucked away at the bottom of the Abbey steps. If they're not too busy, which they weren't when we first when in, then Dan will happily talk music with you, sparked off by the eclectic display of vinyl on show.

Really loved this place. Went with a party of 11 and they fit us all in. Asked for gluten free options for myself and they didn't have anything due to just opening, so I had a dark hot chocolate instead to fill me up. It was delicious but it only comes in a small cup so ordered another. (On my second visit they provided it in a latte cup and it felt a lot more substantial. I loved the finish on it) My family had mostly breakfast sandwiches like sausage and bacon and black pudding but they looked great and they really didn't take long. The staff were so lovely. So down to earth. And they came to me after the second hot chocolate and said they'd just bought some gluten free bread if I wanted a sandwich, which was so considerate of them. But I was full from my two hot chocolates 😂 but I had some toast and it was very good gf bread. The lattes were absolutely delicious. We came back for seconds after climbing the steps and I can't describe the flavour too well, but it was like espresso and liquorice, but not overpowering. They said it was their own special blend. It was well worth it. They also had some outside seating which was cramped but delightful. I hope to go back soon and see if any more gf options. Edit: went back a few months later for the same dark hot chocolate and it was even better. Love this!!

We stumbled across this place whilst wandering around the old town. It’s near the swing bridge on Grape Street Small menu so we tried most of it - everything we had was great. Loved the kimchi dumplings and the sushi. The bowl of delight which I forget the name of was delicious as was the sweet chilli chicken. All freshly cooked and tasty! We will return to try what we missed!! It was very reasonably priced, friendly service and can’t recommend enough.

We accidently discovered this cafe while hunting around Whitby for something more "homely". The staff were very accommodating for our party of 7. They ensured we got seated and looked after us all the step of the way. The food was plentiful, tasty, and very reasonably priced. There was a good selection that suited both adults and children. If you want to avoid the mass of marauding tourists and seaguls. Take a stroll up the hill to Stokers.
