The food was lovely as always, a lovely family atmosphere, very polite staff who served us & the scrambled eggs were wonderful, would highly recommend the breakfast.

The cafe smelt like an old people care home but we thought we try it anyway ( local) we waited 25 mins for our coffees and 45 mins for breakfast and to my horror my scramble eggs were sour ( milk off) couldn’t eat them to top if off the owner walking round serving people with a baby in her arms It needs a proper clean up As I’m writing this I’m laid up in bed with bad gut Never again !

I discovered this small cafe in Belle View Street while I was visiting Filey for the day.. I treated myself to a pot of tea, fruit scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam.. It was all very tasty at a reasonable price in a pleasant environment. The whole theme of the decor is lighthouses.

Amazing food, friendly service. Well worth a visit. The scones were so soft and cakes so fresh. Very highly recommended.

Amazing! Being a bit of an expert on afternoon tea, I can honestly say this can’t be beaten. Beautifully fresh bread, plenty of filling, scones to die for and the freshest cakes your likely to fine. Well worth a visit whether you are near or far. Lovely service too.

We have visited this beautiful cafe many times over the years, and whenever in Filey it is our go to place for brunch, lunch (and, I must confess, cakes in the afternoon after we have walked off our lunch!). I don't often write reviews, but this time I feel compelled to do so. I returned to Filey last week to celebrate my birthday in the place in which our family spent many childhood holidays, and which carries so many happy memories for me. I booked two nights in Apartment 8, The Landings, which is also owned and run by Emma and her partner. I honestly could not have chosen better, and we definitely plan to return as soon as possible. Just like The Lighthouse, the apartment was immaculate, very well thought out and very well equipped. It is to the back of the building, which made it really peaceful. I was up early each morning, opening the window whilst I made morning coffee so that I could hear the beautiful sound of birdsong and the distant cries of gulls. Stepping out of the main building housing this apartment brings the magical sight, sound and smell of the ocean, the beach being immediately opposite, but the position of the apartment itself affords a peace lost to the front of the building, where cars and tourists bustle to and froe. Emma had left a little welcome basket, filled with homemade cake, hot chocolate etc, the apartment was lovely and warm, and we felt able to retreat away and enjoy cosy evenings after long walks on the gorgeous beach (and treats in the cafe). We ended up booking an extra night! This is a long review, but I have worked for many years in hospitality myself, and truly appreciate the efforts this family and all their lovely staff, make to provide the high quality service offered to those visiting this lovely little seaside town. Unfortunately, there are some places in Britain, where you are almost made to feel as though you should be grateful that they are serving you at all, but Emma, her partner and their wonderful team always go above and beyond what is expected. Long overdue re-visit to the Lighthouse for lunch with friends. As ever, super food with just enough choice including specials on the blackboard. My minute steak in baguette was so tasty! No room for puds but the cakes looked divine and the Plum Crumble was temping. Jeannie and Party.

Amazing!!!! Good food takes time. Enjoy a coffee or fresh orange while you wait for your order and have another to be served with your meal. The eggs, loads of different poached and scrambled were cooked beautifully. They also have a full breakfasts. They do lunches and afternoon tea which we didn't try but looked really lovely The coffee is the best.

We visited The Lighthouse today for my mum’s birthday while we were in Filey and it was the nicest experience we’ve ever had in any restaurant or cafe. The food was delicious and everything is homemade. The cakes were a particular highlight! Good value for money, great sized portions and lots of options (particularly for my gluten free diet), and the atmosphere was just lovely. So homely and friendly. We felt like we could have stayed for hours. The service was fantastic, so genuine and not overbearing or forced in the slightest. The place just has a really good vibe. We loved it and we’ll definitely be back!

This cafe is a true gem especially if you have a coeliac member of the family. A separate gluten free menu and all at the same price as the normal menu, amazing! Food is lovely, staff are great and the cafe is warm and welcoming. We are locals and will definitely be back.

Traditional tea room in a convenient location. Have visited a few times on visits to Filey mainly in the summer. Never disappointed with the quality of the food. Sometimes a lengthy wait to get a table as it’s extremely popular with locals and visitors. Definitely worth a visit.

This was my son and mines first visit to the lighthouse tea room Filey, it certainly wont be our last, we had the festive afternoon tea and it was excellent, the was so much delicious food we had to bring half of it home, all the food was made to order, the staff we all very attentive, 10 out off 10 from us.

When we venture up to the east Yorkshire coast, we have a couple of staples food places we want to go to. This is always on the list, and it never disappoints. We booked for afternoon tea this time around and you can choose every thing you want, sandwich filling, scone and cake. All homemade and all amazing. As with most afternoon tea, you think you can easily finish it but you struggle at the end, but fear not, you can take away anything you don't finish. Prices are great, service is great and the homemade food is excellent. This will always be on our to do list when we holiday around Scarborough.

Our favourite Cafe in Filey. If you are looking for superb food and friendly service look no further than the Lighthouse. The owners go out of their way to deliver consistent quality throughout the year. We have tried various things from the menu from breakfasts to lunches, afternoon teas and various homemade cakes and treats and have never been disappointed. Keep up the excellent standards.

A little gem amongst many hard working cafes but this one is a real find. The afternoon tea was made up of fresh meats in a choice of bread, 4 lovely cakes, fresh scones and choice of jams with cornish cream.... Washed down with Yorkshire tea or coffee.... Staff lovely

Have been visiting this place for years. Food is always excellent, fresh and tasty served with lovely coffee. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Have brought friends and family here and none were disappointed. I would highly recommend the Lighthouse.

We visited these tearooms on a recommendation and having seen the reviews also it seemed that our visit would be a good one. Indeed it was, we visited late morning and it was very busy always a good sign and secured the last table. Clearly a lot of the customers were local or at least regulars to the premises. We had coffees and the lattes were very good and hot which is not always the case and with the drinks we tried their homemade cakes on offer, my wife had coconut cake and I had the chocolate and hazelnut cake both were very nice. The premises are traditional in furnishings and decor, very clean and comfortable. Dogs are not allowed inside but there are a few tables outside for dog owners. The staff/owners were very efficient, polite and friendly knowing a lot of their customers by name, we were not made to feel an outsider as a first time visitors, in-fact the opposite. Breakfasts looked nice and we may try one on our next visit. Meals are cooked to order and in busy periods be prepared for a small waiting time to be served. All in all a very good experience and we will return and recommend to others.

Our annual trip to Filey wouldn't be the same without Afternoon Tea at the Lighthouse. Lovely selection of sandwiches, homemade choice of scones and a fabulous choice of homemade cakes. See you next year.

Food here is lovely and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Had a lot of gluten free options too, so my wife was very happy. Priced just right as well. Can’t fault at all.

Attended the Lighthouse Tea Room for my cousins hen do in July and the staff could not be more accommodating; they even decorated the room for us which we didn’t ask for and gave my cousin a free slice of cake to takeaway, these were such a lovely touches. The food was also delicious, I would definitely recommend! We also completed a pre order and all communications were great from the team. Thanks again for having us.

Visited for the first time and definetly not our last. There were 4 of us, the food is superb. Hot, fresh, well presented and delicious. The venue is cosy yet imaculate. The staff are friendly and professional. We loved it !!! Thank you , keep up the good work 👏🥰

There isn’t anything bad to say about this place. I got a large breakfast and my daughter a sausage bun. Everything was cooked fresh and it was sooooo tasty. The staff are amazing, very friendly and 💯 accommodating. It’s closed on a Friday which I was devastated about but next time I’m in Filey this is the place to go. Poached eggs were cooked to perfection, sausages were very tasty. Just all round perfect

We visit Filey maybe 2 or 3 times a year and first visited the lighthouse about 3 years ago and we love the place Emma is amazing how she just takes things in her stride even when very busy as she was the other day when we visited also the food is great if you want fries with everything it’s not the place for you but everything is spot on and generous portions . It’s worth visiting Filey just for the lighthouse tea room . Thanks Emma and the team .

Service excellent and an excellent selection on the menu. Missed breakfast by half an hour so eggs Benedict with black pudding. A signature dish. The Lighthouse filled up rapidly approaching lunchtime. Would recommend.

A quiet little traditional cafe in Filey . A bit of old - fashioned seaside comfort ....proper carpet and lovely decor , don't go here if you want modern ! Friendly staff ...especially the lovely Karen , who has hospitality and kindness running through her veins ... Elegant place . Comfy , clean cafe where you can linger without being hurried on ... My daughter is "Gluten Free" so we were so pleased to find a quality tearoom that had a good Gluten Free menu. She was so excited to get an actual GF toastie rather than having to make do with a plate of chips like she normally does. She really enjoyed though. So thanks for doing a proper job of catering for the Gluten Free. My wife had a Club Sandwich, I had a coffee and the dog helped us finish it all off so everyone was happy.

It was an amazing atmosphere with amazing food and very quick service.

The Lighthouse was recommended to us by our son. We were staying at Flamborough and made a special journey to Filey to have lunch there. They were very busy but offered to take our number and they would call us as soon as a table became free. This meant we didn't need to hang around waiting for a table. We had a look around the shops and received a call within about 10 mins. It was definitely worth the trip and the wait the food was freshly made to order and was very good quality. The staff were lovely and we will definitely go to The Lighthouse again when we are in the area.

Favourite little cafe in the town

Its an amazing place to go and the are so freindly. Definately a place to go but make sure you book before you go.

Cafe is always busy which is understandable as the food and service is excellent. We've had breakfasts, afternoon tea, sandwiches and more and all have been good. Even our son who is in danger of turning in to a chicken nugget is happy to get himself outside of their ham sandwiches. As stated by another reviewer on here, they are also open when you would reasonably expect them to be unlike a lot of Filey cafes that seem to shut mid afternoon. I also see from another review that they are not dog friendly (inside) which is an excellent policy.
