We stopped in the campsite for a few nights and have had a fantastic time. We've been well looked after by Alan in the pub and will be back later in the year. Would highly recommend!

Been here a few times for work meals and it is the most amazing place. The food is beautiful. As a vegetarian it's hard to find a decent meal but these guys manage it!

Roxby Heritage Weekend held at The Fox Inn. What a fantastic weekend despite the weather. Fantastic stalls, free kids, arts and crafts, dog shows, tractor pulling, farm machinery, cars, motor bikes, axe throwing and archery, clay pigeon shooting.... the list just goes on. Sorry for all those I've missed out! It's a fabulous two day show that's definitely worth a visit.

We went as a group of eight for a Christmas meal last night. On arrival to leaving we were treat with excellent service,food and drink. The food was amazing and very tasty. Many thanks to Carl,Alison and their team for a great night.

Great food, a nice place to chill

Lovely meal, lovely service, friendly pub, great options for vegans, vegetarians, fish eaters and mea options, so our large group with different approaches to life were all happy. Dogs were happy too. Good value. Lovely views. Great pub.

We had a lovely evening meal here with friends, staff were friendly and welcoming, would highly recommend this place, has a log burner too which makes it cosy, will definitely book again next time we're in Hinderwell!

Myself and partner have eaten here on numerous occasions and the food, location and owner/ staff are just next level awesome. Nothing is too much trouble, gluten free is catered for really well and the menu is full of staples done really well and different delicious specials. We will definitely be back 👍👍

Fantastic food at the pub, even have a deli which is open during the day with a great selection of local food beers and cakes. We couldn't get into the pub the second night as was fully booked so purchased a home made ready meal which was a huge portion and very tasty.

Lovely 5 night stay on the camping field. So handy for this lovely coastline . Lovely owners, very welcoming. Had a delicious meal at the Inn.

Our fist time out other than work since lockdown back in march. As always fantastic food so much so we had to take our pudding home we were so full! Warm and friendly and completely covid safe will always be a recommendation to anyone looking for one of the best places to eat!

Beautiful views from camp site , unfortunately pub closed on my visit

Nice small campsite with good views and friendly owner. Carl explained when I rang that As corvid 19 was still around the pub and loo / Shower were shut as he wanted to keep his young family safe. Very wise as far as we were concerned.

Arrived in camper van 6 pitches with electricity, we were informed that the toilets and showers were not available. Pub was not available.

An absolutely delicious treat, beautifully presented with my food allergies dairy and garlic easily resolved. Excellent quality seafood and fabulous delivery service too. Thank you so much.

The Fox hasn’t opened as yet but is offering a fabulous take away/delivery service in the area. They do a set menu each week plus a variety of different cold platters. We had a Ploughman’s delivered for four people Saturday lunchtime. It was awesome. Thick sliced ham, rare beef, variety of pies, pickles, savoury scone etc etc. Served up beautifully- no need to re-arrange. You can ring and order. Thoroughly recommend!

Excellent food, service and welcome by the Landlord. Not overly priced which makes the ride out worth it.

We ate here between Christmas & New Year as a large party of 20 friends. We pre-ordered our food as we were such a large party. From the minute we arrived we felt welcome and well taken care of. Carl the landlord is a natural host who is attentive & friendly, nothing is too much trouble.The food (expertly cooked by Carl's lovely wife Alison) was superb. Every plate went back clean, the flavours and textures were plentiful, portions generous and presentation spot on. I can recommend the black pudding starter, a lovely dish with crispy black pud topped with a perfectly poached egg, perched upon a bacon salad! I also had the belly pork which was so tender and crowned with a perfectly crispy piece of crackling. The vegetarian options all looked divine and the accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection with a good variety.We chose a bottle of white that for £13.95 a bottle was great value and tasted fantastic. The whole night was a complete success, thank you to both Carl & Alison for all your hard work, it was much appreciated!

Excellent food and very nice hosts who are making this place incredible! I had creamed mushrooms followed by Monk fish and Ham skewers, there were 6 of us and everyone enjoyed the food.

Stopped in on the way home from Whitby for Sunday lunch after checking TA. Small pub with very friendly staff. Choice of roasts (pork or beef) with all the trimmings - very enjoyable, the kids even wolfed down all of theirs (children’s portions available). Didn’t really have enough room for pudding, but had some anyway - great selection of hot and cold options, plus the biggest selection of ice cream you’ve ever seen - including black jack. Great to see a proper little pub doing such good food.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Everything about the food was excellent, perfectly cooked vegetables, creamy mash and tender beef. Dog friendly which was lovely. Well worth the visit. We will definitely return.

Brilliant meal really friendly staff nice country pub

Found this on TripAdvisor and it lived up to its reviews. The food was excellent, a good choice menu and perfectly cooked with well kept beer to wash it down. My wife and I both had the black pudding starter, I had pork fillet and my wife rib eye steak, both perfectly done with a good selection of veg and homemade chips. Don't usually have three courses but they have a large selection of irresistible sweets. We stayed in our motor home in the camping field with a hook up so we could enjoy a drink. Nice atmosphere to the pub, staff are great and a huge log burner made it cosy on a damp night. Will definitely go again.

Visiting Saltburn-by-the-Sea & trusting Tripavisor to point us in the right direction we decided to venture out of the town for dinner... So glad we did !!This small country pub as it all.. very friendly & welcoming hosts With kind, considerate locals at the bar.. exceptional views across the fields to the sea.. with food exceptional food to boot ..I would not hesitate in recommending the Fox Inn to anyone traveling in the area..

An excellent venue if you require quality food and a lovely Country pup atmosphere. Full marks to the Hosts for service with a smile, most presentable dishes and very attentative back up. Food preparation was in the upper class with dishes that were leagues ahead of some much more expensive venues we have dined at. We went on a recommendation from friends and so glad we did.We dine out 3 days a week most weeks and have done for many years and this comes near the top of our list.

My wife and I had booked to camp on the Fox's campsite so, after pitching our tent, we popped into the pub for a beer. It turned out to be a lovely little local pub with friendly locals and a very hospitable landlord. A quick look at the menu convinced us that we were hungry and we ordered. I had the pork fillet in Stilton sauce and my wife had braised steak in bloody Mary sauce. Both were cooked to perfection with tender meat and tasty sauces. We finished off with some locally farm-made ice cream, also lovely. We really enjoyed our food and the whole experience was added to by the extremely friendly and helpful landlord.and his locals.

Found through a recommendation but very happy we did! Not only is the food brilliant, very tasty, great price and huge portions, but the owners are brilliant. Make you feel right at home as soon as you come through the door. Dog friendly too which is always great.

We were staying in nearby Scaling and our hosts recommended The Fox and, as it was the nearest inn, it was a 'no-brainer'! We received a very warm welcome from the owner and sat in the restaurant by the woodburner, which was equally welcoming as it was a cool evening! We shared a starter, which was excellent and I had a dish from the specials board and the OH had the pork fillet. Both impressive and we shall certainly return to The Fox when we visit Scaling again!

For a fairly small country Inn the food here is amazing. It's not often I eat three courses but it all sounded so good on the menu I couldn't resist and it definitely lived up to it in the taste.

A belated birthday meal for the 3 of us whilst away on an Easter weeks holiday. The food was absolutely superb! I had the monkfish skewers and my husband had the beef brisket! Both so fresh and delicious. Real homemade chicken nuggets went down a treat with our 9 year old. All of us had the homemade chips (the best I’ve had in a very long time). Desserts were fab, choc brownie with ice cream, lemon crunch and 2 types of Roxby jersey ice cream. A really welcoming atmosphere made it a really enjoyable evening so much so we have booked to go back!

Came here for a spot of walking and camping with an ancient group of reprobates. We'd seen some of the great food reviews, and were suprised that from the outside the pub doesn't look particularly "special". However once inside we (and 3 damp dogs) received a really warm welcome and the menus provided were so varied that our meal decisions took a fair while to make!

Probably the best Sunday lunch we’ve had ever! Roast beef plus the usual trimmings and 6 different vegetables. Absolutely excellent!

Had the great pleasure of being invited to my very first baby shower at this venue. Mine hosts were very welcoming and the buffet was amazing. Not the usual run of the mill buffet (not a sandwich in sight) but lots of finger food which was absolutely delicious especially the eggy bread. Give me a buffet like this every time.

The owners/staff were very warm and welcoming. The food was absolutely fantastic and you certainly didn’t leave feeling hungry. I would certainly go back and would strongly recommend coming here for something to eat.

Had only had the occasional drink here over many years but finally took the plunge to try the food. Warmly welcomed by mine-host, Gary, who took time to explain the menu and left us plenty of time to make our choices. The more than generous starter (for Mrs!) and my main of 'Bloody Mary Brisket' were absolutely delicious! So much so that the brisket would make some fillet steak's I've had seem like sole of a leather sandal by comparison!!!

Pity Sunday lunch has to be booked in advance, the fox wasn't busy but we were still refused food because we hadn't booked,had a drink sat a table in which that time we could of eaten lunch,never mind found somewhere else which served us a cracking Sunday lunch.

We ate on a Sunday There was a choice of meats and a fish main The starters were lovely including Yorkshire pudding and gravy The puddings were exceptional including a range of homemade ice creams Friendly helpful staff Pleasant atmosphere We will certainly go back

When the host can show you which field the cows grew in, that provided the best roast beef you've had in a long time, when the veg is fresh and well cooked, served with a smile and a decent pint alongside, what else could you want ?

Closed when says it should be open!!

We walked to The Fox from our recent holiday in Staithes Old village after seeing some great reviews on here. We arrived at 5.30 to find the pub doesn’t open until 6.30 (our fault- should have checked!) so the dog was happy that we had to extend our walk by an hour so as not to look too eager hanging around outside.

Visited here on Saturday night and had a very warm welcome! The pub was lovely and warm with the log burner on! Had a few drinks before our meal. Our food was amazing could not fault anything! Lovely choices and great choices for dessert and plenty of choices of ice cream! Enjoyed our visit

Fabulous food great choice service is very good and staff are very pleasant we had a few drinks before we ordered we weren’t pressured into eating we saw all the amazing dishes being served to other diners and decided to order we were not disappointed thoroughly enjoyed our meal

Visited the Fox Inn and will most definitely be returning when back in the area. The food was fabulous will certainly take some beating and was excellent value for money. The ambience of the Fox Inn was great and welcoming. Everything was freshly and perfectly cooked. Four extremely happy customers.

My wife took a chance after reading some reviews and we weren't disappointed. She had tried to book us into somewhere in Whitby and I was very glad she hadn't. The food, beer and room were great as was the host, Karl. We will definitely return and will recommend to friends and family.

Nice little pub with great views

A nice country pub with great views from the garden. One of a growing number of rural pubs which does not open on most lunchtimes, so it is of restricted use for walkers wanting a mid-walk break. Check opening times if thinking of going there outside an evening. There is a camping site attached, but only members of the Camping and Caravan Club can use it. The nearest bus routes are 2 miles in either direction, at Boulby and on the Moors Road (A171).
