Having visited a few years ago we ventured back to enjoy this dog friendly venue not aware that it has changed hands since we last went. The atmosphere was completely different and didn’t appear to be as dog friendly. (Used have jars of dog treats throughout) Saying that water was available on request for pooches. We had drinks and soup and a roll from the lunch specials. Today being ‘Homemade Tomato Soup’ (exact wording from the menu). Unfortunately this soup wasn’t simply a tomato soup, it was extremely spicy and left lips tingling and a sweat on my face!! Now some would love this, but I do not enjoy spicy food and would therefore not have orders this had I known. We mentioned this to the owner who offered some cream which would cool it down a little, if necessary. We advised her to change her menu to say spicy soup! The drinks were delicious and other food did look nice.

Being a severe coeliac and lactose intolerant I'm hard to cater for. After googling and finding the gluten free restaurant we wanted to go to closed we went into beckett of whitby. They were amazing and really helped me find something on the menu I could eat, which was delicious. The staff were really friendly and went over and above to help me which I really appreciated. Highly recommend.

This was our first visit and it was lovely. Nice atmosphere and attentive, friendly service. A couple of us are vegan and they were very accommodating. I got an oat milk latte and their vegan breakfast. The breakfast was really nice - cooked lightly with no greasiness at all. The sausages were yummy and unlike many other places they weren’t one of the big recognisable brands which was refreshing. The tofu scramble had greens through it (spring onions and spinach I think). Only minor niggle was the extra charge for plant milk which is a pet hate but at least was clearly stated on the menu. Lovely visit and we’ll be back soon.

Not the same anymore as what it use to be. Sandwiches are bland and flavourless. Hardly any dips or sauces served with lunch items - requested more and literally got a tea spoon. Understand there has been a change of owners since I was here in Whitby last time but it’s not really serving the nice sandwiches and cakes that it use too.

1st time in with either new staff or new owners. Coffee so hot it burned my tongue and lips - no permanent damage will be okay again within a week! Was given some cold milk to cool it down (which I asked for). Scone was like a cheap shop bought scone. Think need to invest in a milk thermometer! £6 - photo below, staff had no idea what I was talking about so not seasoned baristas or coffee drinkers! No sandwiches (were going to have as machine had broken).

Disappointing that they wouldn't accommodate us, clearly trade must be good. won't go again where we're not welcome.

Hot chocolate and cake to die for, well worth the trek away from the main tourist area. In fact, I think the walk burns off the exact same amount of calories which you will intake, in cake and chocolate. Which makes everything zero calories. Win win in my book.

Salad was very tired and wilted and needed to be replaced with fresh crisp salad leaves Bread was not fresh and was breaking up as we tried to eat our panini The filling was not what we are used to as when the previous owners were there the beckaninis were bursting at the seams We would have liked to finish on a nice slice of cake but the selection was minimal and sparse to say the least Not a single table check to enquire whether the food was ok and we were happy with our selection The dragon sausage was quite tangy and not what we’re used to Veggie bowl options on the menu but no bowl option for meat eaters Also far too many dogs allowed in at the same time in a relatively small space Quite disappointed to say the least and definitely crossed off the list for the future
