Lovely little place, the lady was so nice, welcoming and helpful.

I’ve given this 5 stars as I don’t want to suggest it’s not great. The problem is it’s disappeared! It may be permanently closed, so don’t rely on it

The lady owner had a great range of cakes and went out of her way to be helpful. She even dried the outside seats. A real great cup of coffee.

This place was just across the road from our holiday accommodation. The setting is very nice and the sandwiches, tea and cake we had were excellent. Ann runs the place and is an exceptional host! We received a lovely welcome and never felt rushed as we enjoyed our food and a chat with a couple at the next table. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Although I didn't have the pleasure of eating here I would like to give my sincere thanks to the kind lady and the equally kind gentleman who helped me retrieve my car from the adjacent field. My wife and I fully intend calling in next time we have the pleasure of visiting such a picturesque place. Thank you 😊

5 stars are not enough. Beautiful fresh egg sandwich and impeccable blackberry and apple pie as well as other fine cakes. How can anywhere else be better?

It was like having tea in your own back garden and the lady owner was so friendly. Would recommend going on the way back up the hill from Runswick Bay as it's at the top of the hill on the left.

We try to come he every time we are in Whitby, which is most years. Anne is a lovely person and a great baker. Honestly you would have to go a long way to find a better tea garden.

Peace and tranquility topped off with a delicious fruit pie after a freshly prepared sandwich. Anne is a superb hostess and very helpful with bus timetables etc. The garden is lovely and full of colour. Been going to the tea garden for years and we will be going back the next time we are in the area.

A calm and quiet place to go for a little snack. Nice homemade fruit scone- lemon slice. 100% recommend going if your staying in Runswick.

Stumbled upon this wonderful little tea garden on a visit to Runswick Bay. The garden was beautiful and there was a great choice of cakes on the menu. The ploughman’s sandwiches and strawberry shortcake were very tasty and good value for money. The lady who served us was extremely friendly and offered to refill our water bottles before we continued our exploration of the area. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic hidden gem find directly across the road from the Runswick Bay Hotel. It's a lady's garden that she has opened to the public in order to serve sandwiches, toasties, home made cakes and tea and coffee. Really friendly lady and spectacular cakes! A must go to venue.

Excellent tea and cakes! The owner is so lovely, gave us lots of recommendations and filled up our water bottles for us (we were out cycling). Would recommend highly.

Found this gem just across the road from the bus stop / car park field. A very friendly lady who has opened up her home each day, except Thursdays. A really varied choice of freshly baked home make cakes, sandwiches and toasties. A delightful garden to sit in and toilet available. Dogs welcome. Visited here 2 days in a row and had pleasant chats with the delightful owner. Highly recommend.

We walked from staithes along the Cleveland way and found this beautiful little gem. The lady was friendly the sandwiches were fresh, made to order and the lemon and lime meringue was amazing. Highly recommended.

Lovely little cafe and the staff are most helpful, even to ask where we had parked in case we had done so on yellow lines near by which we did but had a disabled badge, (they didn't want to get us caught out bless them) Strawberry cake is recommended, large strawberry's throughout the cake and a nice large slice which we shared

Delightful little tea gardens, run be a lovely lady, she seems to work on her own so don't expect quick service when busy as most things are made to order. This is no McDonald's, just relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Lovely little find on our walk today just off the Cleveland Way, as we walked into Runswick we came across this delightful place. Nice sandwiches, tea and cakes. The lady who served us was really pleasant and friendly and was full of local info.

We were on our way to play bowls and took the wrong way and ended up at the tea rooms, we only had coffee and tea but the lady who owns the rooms was lovely and very welcoming will definitely be going again

What a lovely find after a long walk. The scones were delicious and the service was warm, friendly and efficient. The food is homemade and excellent value for money. Looking forward to our next trip out to Runswick Bay and hopefully another stop at this gem.

Whenever we're near, once a year, we visit the Tea Garden. Very sad in 2020 that it was closed, but very happy indeed that we were able to visit again in 2021! As always there was a wide variety of cakes on offer, all home...

After a 5 mile walk around Runswick Bay this place was the perfect tonic. The owner was very friendly and keen to engage in conversation. Had a pot of tea and a cafetiere of coffee. The coffee was very good and the tea was excellent....

Lovely food and good selection of drinks in a pretty garden with a variety of seating areas for sun and shade. Ann the owner most helpful and very patient with a large group of deaf and mute customers who arrived towards closing time. Easy walking distance from the Runswick Bay Hotels.

Lovely lunch in beautiful surroundings. The lady owner does everything herself, takes orders, prepares the food and home bakes all the cakes. The food was very reasonably priced and really was excellent. So handy for walkers (Cleveland Way) and holiday makers. Not to be missed.

The lady running everything was run off her feet because of a big order and was very apologetic because it took her 30 minutes to serve our order, but she had warned us and we were in no hurry. The scones and cuppas were excellent

We weren't going to Whitby and not visit the Tea Gardens in Runswick Bay, and sample more of Anne's lovely baking! I had her rhubarb (home grown!) & apple pie with ice cream, which was just lovely. Thanks Anne and hope to see you again on another visit to the north Yorkshire coast!

We stopped here for tea and scones whilst walking the Cleveland way with our dogs. The owner was very friendly and her homemade cakes were delicious, she also very kindly wrapped us a sandwich up to eat on the route. Additionally the garden was a lovely place to sit and take a break.

We were walking from Staithes back to Whitby and found this gem just off the Cleveland way. Everything was perfect from the drinks, cakes, scones and toasties but mainly the wonderful friendly service. If you come of the Cleveland way and see the sign for the tea garden you must visit!!

My wife and I called here after a walk along the cliffs and were served with tea and home made marmalade cake by the lovely lady owner. We got chatting to her and another walker in the sun. I spotted a 'secret garden' sign on the way out - I'll save that for next time

We were doing a circular walk from Staithes to Runswick Bay and happened upon the tea gardens by chance as we were passing. It is set in a secluded garden with a more than adequate menu of home cooked items. The tea and coffee portions were generous and we enjoyed our toasties though plenty of cakes were also on the menu. It was also lovely to meet the owners who are full of local knowledge.

We noticed this tea garden by chance after walking from Port Mulgrave to Runswick. We were in desperate need of a drink, so the garden was more like an oasis to us! We had drinks and lovely cakes, and when we were nearby again a few days later, we returned for toasties and more cake!It's a one-lady business and everything is home made on the premises by the owner, which is good to know. I'm sure there are different cakes available all the time; we sampled merengues with cream, orange cake, coffee cake, rich fruit cake and a pear & almond tart among others.If we're ever nearby again we'll most certainly stop again!

Walked from Staithes to Runswick bay. Came off coastal path to find this tea garden. Set in lovely private garden, the owner was very friendly. Had good menu of sandwiches, cakes etc and drinks. Cakes all home made. Very nice place to stop to rest and re energise before carrying on walking or catching bus from stops placed conveniently just outside the gardens.

Visited Runswick Bay a few weeks ago and happened to pass this Tearoom in the car .Read TripAdvisor reviews and decided to visit and was not disappointed .Lovely ,friendly lady owner who has the tearoom in her back garden .We had a pot of tea ,sandwich and homemade scones which were great . She also makes homemade cakes which we will try when we return.Definately try this tearoom if you are passing .
