Couldn't fault the quantity cost or quality. Ordered from the vegan menu chips curry sauce and pea fritter. Only problem was the food wasn't piping hot surprising since it was cooked to order in a deep fat fryer.

The best chips and curry sauce I have had in a long time! Never had a pea fritter before, but wow 😮 I will be certainly having one again! All cooked in vegetable oil with its very own vegan menu! I was with a meat eater who loves chips cooked in beef dripping but after trying mine he went back to get some 🤣 This place will now be my place to go for vegan chips and a pea fritter! Thank you for making such an effort 🙏🏻

We chose Robertson's because of the Vegan menu. The vegan sausage wasn't what we were expecting, being more of a battered bubble and squeak rather than a meat substitute, however they made a pleasant change and were delicious. Absolutely loved the pea fritter which is a battered ball of mushy peas. Chips were great too although portion size was on the small side, but probably enough to be fair. My only negative is that it was quite expensive in my opinion. £4 for a pea fritter or 2 small vegetable sausages seems excessive to me. Thoroughly enjoyed the food though.

Tried and enjoyed in 2018 excellent experience with great glutten free menu. Special visit in Aug 2023. Staff friendly enough and good service HOWEVER £40 for 4 haddock and chips ( 2 of which were glutten free) very thin pieces of fish with SKIN still on and not a lot of chips. Very disappointed this time. Sorry guys next time in Whitby we won’t be back.

Visited Whitby for the Goth festival. Heard that Robertsons had great vegetarian options and as most of our group are veggie it seemed a good place to visit. When we arrived, we went to order the battered halloumi only to be told they didn't have any so tried to order the mozerella advertised outside on the menu. Told again slightly dismissively they didn't have any and that they only had things from the vegan menu. What's the point in advertising something if you don't even have it?! None of us fancied battered pineapple or mushy pea frittas so decided to leave because the staff were disinterested, rude and unhelpful.

Brilliant gluten free options, suitable for coeliac sufferers as they are all fried in separate fryers. Portions were a good size. A bit expensive at £9.30 for a fish and chip portion but I think that's a fairly standard price nowadays. And it all seemed great quality and the service was great too. Overall pretty delicious and always happy to find properly GF food!!

Most fish and chip places in Whitby pride themselves on cooking in beef fat. We eat fish but we don't eat meat so that's off-putting. Even if we did eat meat, we couldn't fancy fish cooked in this way. Robertsons cook in vegetable oil, and the fish and chips we had were fresh and excellent. Good quality food, perfectly cooked. It's takeaway only which is a shame as I think they had a sit-down restaurant in the past. If you're looking for great tasting fish and chips in Whitby you'll have plenty of choices, but we can thoroughly recommend this one.

First chip shop I’ve ever been to with a dedicated vegan menu. The pea fritters are to die for!! Cooked in vegetable oil using a separate fryer to the fish/meat dishes which is applaudable :) everything tasted fresh. My only gripe is that the hand sanitising dispenser on entry was empty...frustrating when my hands were essentially clean before opting to press the dispense button, along with the other 100 people that had probably pressed it before me. I did notify the guy behind the counter but he didn’t seem too bothered.Other than that, I’d go back in a heartbeat.

If you don't mind being completely ignored then snapped at for being in the shop when nothing and no one indicated otherwise then go for it. I even asked another customer who was waiting what she did so I could follow the safety measures as the staff didn't bother. I was only in the shop so I could pay the guy then was going to wait outside. I work in retail myself, I was ready for and happy to follow any corona guidelines but you have to communicate these measures to your customers! I noticed when passing later that a sign had been put up at the door which instructed people to wait at the door to be served. That would have been useful earlier, i don't know why that had been moved. Cracking a smile wouldn't hurt either.

At the end I decided to have a standard fish and chips for son and 2 large fish and chips which they came up to over £29.00 which I can’t complain because the fish and chips were nice but the staff weren’t. This venue had been recommended to me due to that they cook in vegetable oil, and others had enjoyed the food. I think that if you are going to try the fish etc, then it seems very nice. However, they had few vegan options that day, and I felt an inconvenience. I ordered two battered veggie sausages, however there was a 15 minute wait to be cooked seperately from the fish. They also came overdone, slightly burnt and not battered however my friends had nearly finished theirs so I was reluctant to complain. I may be going back, however if so I will need to be more direct in asking for what they can do for me, and hopefully the food standards will have improved.

We called in on a rainy day for lunch, one couple waiting for table before us. Within 5 mins we were offered choice of two table, we opted for table by the window. We did have a bit of a wait for service as waitress failed to be aware of us, but appologies were offered and accepted. On arrival my Tuna steak with new spuds and salad was excellent, the Tuna steak cooked perfectly for me. The wife had the scampi meal which she said was " great, as good as anywhere". On payement our soft drinks were deducted from the bill as a further appology for our additional wait (approx 10 mins). Lovely staff.we will be back.

We both had the large cod and chips with mushy peas. Cooked to order, lovely crisp batter, fish tasted very fresh and good chips. Liked the dine in but in take away box experience, like fish and chips should be served, but without the seagulls pecking at you! Felt a little expensive but appreciate everything has gone up. Eat in section nothing fancy but clean, and there was a friendly lady serving. Also dog friendly!

My son has a dairy allergy and often has to settle for sorbet when at an ice cream parlour. Truly Scrumptious gave him an amazing choice of dairy free ice creams and toppings. We wouldn’t normally have 3 ice creams in 3 days but he was just so excited that he had choices, how could we not??!!

We had a lovely lunch with family today, enjoying the view from above and the sunshine. However, when my food was being served, the sizzling from the oil in it landed on my husband's coat. When we asked for the bill, I explained the situation to the lady, who by the way was the person who served us the food, and she barely apologized. I would expect a better handling of the situation...
