The best restaurants serving British food in West Midlands

We came to an advertised event at the jinnie with a singer. The weather was fantastic. The garden was busy. The poor girl behind the bar was left all on her own. She did a fantastic job but was overwhelmed by the volume of people. The garden quickly emptied as the wait for drinks was too long. I put a post on the pubs Facebook page but it was removed. I felt so sorry for the girl as she was all alone. One of the customers children aged 8 and 10 had to collect glasses as the poor girl behind the bar was run off her feet. What a terrible shame. Management nowhere to be seen. Xx

I went here yesterday for the first time and had a lovely lunch with my parents and some friends and the staff where very welcoming and polite. There was a good selection of ales which was really nice to see and although it was fairly busy the service didn't seem to lack. So I ordered the chicken and got an entire half a chicken I wasn't expecting that, and all the other food that came out looked and smelled amazing, after we ordered some deserts, I had a orange chocolate fudge cake. Loved it. I will definitely be coming back for another visit and after talking with the landlady about the renovations, ive already booked a room for the summer.

Recently under new management… staff friendly and service good. Fab curry menu. The food was really good. And prices very reasonable. Well worth a visit.

We booked here after a recommendation and we weren’t disappointed. It was a very busy Easter Sunday but staff were friendly and welcoming and locals were as well. The roast dinner was delicious meat perfectly cooked and best roast potatoes I’ve had on an “out” dinner for a long time!! The view is phenomenal and so relaxing on a beautiful day with options of shade too. If we return to Ross-on-Wye we will return here for sure!!!

Popped in for Sunday lunch. Although food was plentiful and staff were efficient, the food quality was poor. I had the lamb which had a strange texture, almost like pre sliced/processed appearance and taste. Vegetables were bland and roast potatoes tasty but not crisp. We paid an extra £5.00 for a small amount of undercooked. cauliflower in cheese sauce. If I'm paying £20.00 for a Sunday lunch I would expect better.

Absolutely top food and services. We had party of 10 and the food was lovely, lots of it, nice and hot when it came out. Well done Brett and the team will definitely be back

Lovely pub, great food, friendly staff. Properly dog-friendly (unlike some places where you’re directed outside, or to a dingy corner,). 100% recommend and we will definitely be back.

Love their vegan products. The people here were kind, friendly and in a really good mood.

Fabulous Christmas lunch at the Robin Hood today. Food was delicious and Brian and his staff were amazing. Nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend this pub. Give it a visit, you won't regret it.

Stayed for two nights with a group of car enthusiast. And a great weekend it was thanks to Dan and his staff. Excellent location, good accommodation, relaxed atmosphere, catered for all changes that you get from a mix of 20 people and excellent food for everyone served efficiently. Many of our group have asked to come back next year. It was a 5 Star stay but: I so wanted to give the hotel 5 Stars but the pre-booking and customer contact services are woeful. Various people in the group contacted the hotel with queries and changes and were regularly faced with answerphone messages which were not responded to. We had one couple wanted to stay an extra night and could not raise anyone to make the booking. One couple had to cancel but could not get anyone to pick up the phone or respond to messages. If a manager/owner reads this, your excellent staff deserve better than this. They all worked so hard to make our stay so enjoyable but there jobs are at risk if you cannot sort out your customer contact services at the front end.

Lovely Sunday lunch with family. Great selection of food, the staff are great and prices are perfect. Will definitely be back.

Came here off the back of hearing great reviews from friends and I am totally converted! Authentic meals here and the best curry I have had in towns makes all other curry houses in town look garbage in comparison. Food prices amazing, drink prices good. All tables used, not one free to be had! Spicy, hot, tasty and authentic and friendly staff. Have recommended this place to everyone I know and hope this place thrives its amazing. Haven’t had a curry like it before. Cannot wait to come back again soon, also hoping they will do delivery soon as this will be a success.

We walked in, and a dog was standing on the bar, being fed from a shot glass by the young barmaid. The dog was licking her fingers. She then proceeded to serve drinks with unwashed hands. The dog should not have been standing on the bar, and she should not have been doing this. She then proceeded to fuss and stroke nearly every dog in the bar area and never washed her hands. This put me off big time, so we went for a drink up the road in another old pub.
