Sunday lunch today was a shocker. Meat- cold Veg- cold unseasonal Gravy- thin & watery Roasties- undercooked, dense inside Yorkie- cold Cauli cheese- tiny ramekin containing 4 florets for 3 of us First Easter I have not worked so I come to somewhere that I have previously enjoyed. Michelin, the AA, top 50 gastro pub…. Today’s lunch was undeserving of any of these accolades & any chef of this level should be ashamed of what my family was served. Our waiter though was as friendly as in our other visits.

Me and my partner went here today for a lovely pub meal . My partner ordered the food and when it arrived it was the wrong order the waitress didnt know what she was doing and complaining to other customers about the kitchen staff .getting the table numbers wrong . We won't be retuning . But the food was ok

After reading all the great reviews I was really looking forward to this place but was sadly disappointed. I had fish & chips which was pretty poor, the fish was a square of badly fried frozen fish which was watery when you cut into it, the chunky chips we're hit and miss, some cooked others raw in the middle and the crushed minted peas were stone cold and like bullets. My husband had lamb shank which he said was ok but the portion was tiny, I mean a child's portion! Certainly not worth the money we paid. Only plus was it's very dog friendly.

Placed our food order waited 25 minutes, the food came and we had brown bread instead of white like we asked, I asked for no red onion chutney and it had just been scrapped off the bread so I could still taste it and the chips that came with it was such a small portion only about 10 chips. The food was also stone cold. We didn't complain as it was too busy and I didn't want to wait. I would not recommend this pub for food.

An impressive looking Georgian style pub located just off the Market Square, it’s obviously been renovated at some point and whilst it might not be as traditional in style as it once was, it has nonetheless managed to retain it’s character. Bar staff were friendly and helpful, although this may change as apparently Punch Taverns have declined to renew the lease for the current landlord who has turned the pub completely around, and are instead putting in their own management team. There was a petition on the bar to try and get them to reverse this decision. The menu offered a decent enough selection of “pub grub” dishes, and my homemade beef lasagne with garlic bread and a mixed salad was decent enough, if nothing spectacular. All in all, a decent enough pub and well worth popping in.

Wow! Such a beautiful pub in an idyllic setting. My husband and I had the delicious Pate to start followed by roast beef which was second to none. I cannot recommend it highly enough. We enjoy our Sunday roasts and this is hands down the winner in our opinion. Well done and thank you to all the staff 👏
