After being shown a table for my wife and I waited to be served. I chose Lamb shank, when I heard a couple next to ours was returning his Lamb shank as it was still frozen. I summoned the manager and asked for assurances that my order would be fully cooked, to which he assured me it will be. It finally arrived to find it was also frozen inside. I returned it after reminding the manager of his personnel assurances that it was properly cooked. My alternative choice was fish and chips, low and behold they had sold the last portion! I finally settled for pie and chips, rather disgruntled. I would never recommend this pub, although it does get busy , properly due to its location. I have never returned, and probably never will.

We arrived just before the kitchen closed and ordered our meal. The pub interior was nice and comfortable. Our starters were Calamri and a Prawn Cocktail. The Calamari was small and deep fried to death. Awful! The Prawn Cocktail was tasty but only had 5 prawns in it! Not worth the price! Main course. Scampi was very nice and enjoyable. Sirloin steak was ordered 'rare' but was very 'well done', with one soggy mushroom and chips. Couldn't believe it was cooked so wrong. No waitress call back, in fact, no waitresses around at all to discuss it with. Had ordered a beer to go with my main course but it arrived when our meals were finished. Disappointing really, even with the 30% off main course! Sure this isn't normal service as I have heard good things about the place.

Went for Sunday lunch following several recommendations - huge disappointment - portions versus price very poor - the addition of frozen peas to the seasonal vegetables didn’t help - the Yorkshire pudding had seen better days - dry and hard and the gravy had a jelly type consistency - it was edible and I was hungry so ate it but won’t bother going back

The setting is beautiful and the staff really friendly and polite. We went for sunday lunch and all 4 of us were disappointed the food was lovely but just not enough of it for the money paid. The meat consisted of 3 paper thin slices I carrot 1 parsnip 3 tiny roast potatoes and a teaspoon of peas. Not worth the £18.00

Atmosphere was good, as was staff. Food unfortunately wasn't great. Plant based burger needs improvement, 1 tiny gem lettuce leaf which was as brown as the burger, as for the sauce - well you would need binoculars to see it. The bun was dry, fries were hard and cold, as for the tai slaw it was white cabbage and carrot in watered down sweet chilli sauce. Alot of improvement needed. Certainly not worth £15.50

As regulars to the Wednesday night quiz when Steve was host, the new host, Cam, had big shoes to fill but he's a natural! He's very welcoming and chats to the teams as he goes around, making them feel included and important. The food is 20% off for quizzers so we tend to get there a bit early and eat before the quiz starts. Makes us feel good to support the local pub and all the proceeds from the quiz go to local charities so it's doubly good! Can't recommend it enough.

Don’t know what the foods like, didn’t stay to find out. Turned up without booking admittedly, and on a quiz night, a crime apparently. Service is ‘full table service’ which translates to - sit there and a sulky teenager will ignore you for 15mins and serve other tables who arrived after you. Avoid.

How faeces is smeared all over the seat, around the floor and it stinks. How it will need a good scrub and these two waitresses could not clean in there as it stinks and makes them feel sick.Food arrives and the burgers were disgusting. Burgers were so dry. Having driven past this pub on a number of occasions, we had always thought it looked lovely, old looking and sat next to a common it is a perfect location to sit outside and have a meal. Today we decided to try it, the welcome when you walk through the door is cold, I would not say rude or impolite just no warmth and any conversations seem not to be over encouraged. The menu reads well and we chose the Pork and Black pudding and the Lamb Kebab. Food was quick to arrive, there was little attention to how the food was served with the Pork and Black pudding coming on plates like my Granny had and looked like a dinner lady had served it to a school child with a lump of everything in separate little portions. The kebab was disappointing I had not noticed the extra kebab for £4.00 so ended up with a kebab on two flat breads. The kebab had four, yes four pieces of lamb, quite small, slightly overcooked and a little tough. Frankly for £14.75 it was extremely disappointing and at that price I would have expected a second kebab without an additional charge just to justify the price. Following a logical path if the second kebab being offered would cost £4.00 that would mean that what would have been a total meal cost of £18.75, £8.00 was the kebabs and the two flatbreads few slices of onion two slices of pepper a few sprinkled pomegranate seeds cost £10.75, maybe you can see why I thought this was overpriced especially due to the size of the Lamb on the skewer. The warmth and hospitality continued without anyone coming out to ask if we were enjoying our meal at any point and we left once finished, amazingly before we reached our car outside the pub, 20 feet away a waitress scuttled out and quickly cleared our dishes away. I think I am more disappointed as this pub looks so perfect, it is near where we are thinking of relocating and I was hoping it would make a great local, however with the warmth on show today if we move to the area I guess my search for a friendly pub selling good quality food will need to continue. Sorry really wish it had been a more positive visit

Not great, but a few things can be easily fixed. Our welcome wasn’t great - started listing all the menu items that weren’t available before we had even been seated. Accept the supply issues at the moment, but there’s a better way to inform those - even perhaps like a specials menu of unavailable things, if known to be unavailable at the start of the day. On the specials menu, it looked a bit cr*p as a piece of A4 paper torn in half - use scissors. None of the Sunday roasts were on that list of unavailable items, but when we came to order a few minutes later the last roast beef had just gone. The waiting staff should know not only the items that are unavailable, but also those that are about to become unavailable - especially if it’s a Sunday roast, which is why we had visited. The server we had was far too quiet, could barely hear what she was saying, and we’re not hard of hearing.

The waitress apologised and the price of the dish was removed from the bill but we won't be returning.

The drinks order was incorrect. Oversights and mistakes were made on 3 other tables. I had mussels as a starter last week at a Chef and Brewer for £6.99 (no chips) with mussels three or four times the size. Whoever buys for the pub needs to tell their supplier they need to buy the mussels from a more responsible source- the ones they are currently supplying are far too small to sell. They were listed on menue as being Irish,

For a number of years we have been coming to the Malvern area to visit elderly, sick relatives. Sadly, we shall not be returning for this purpose again. On each occasion we have been cheered by a visit to the very popular Bluebell Inn at Barnard's Green. Set in lovely surroundings, its hardworking and enthusiastic manager, James, and his team offer safe and efficient service, good food and drink, and sympathetic company, although at times it is very busy. The ambience both inside and in the garden is lovely, so any wait is no problem. The good sized car park is a real asset, there is plenty of access and space for wheelchair users, and plenty of choice on the menu for vegan/gluten free and other diets. It is a very "family friendly" venue, and well behaved dogs are welcome. We suggest, however, that Marston's review their pricing policy to provide better value for money and to avoid the local team getting any "flak".We gather that James is moving on for reasons more cheerful than our own and feel that his new venue, and Marston's, are fortunate to have him. Good luck, and thanks again to all at the Bluebell for making a difficult time more bearable.

Having visited on numerous occasions we were looking forward to our meal. When we arrived it was over 5 minutes before one of the staff came over to show us to our table. The pub was fairly quiet and there seemed a reasonable amount of staff. They are operating table service only, even just for drinks, which is fine but we then had to wait 20 minutes before someone came to take our food order. As we had an hour and a half spare we understandably thought that that would be sufficient to have a main course and a drink - unfortunately it wasn’t. Our food still had not arrived after an hour even though the person who was seated prior to us had completely finished their meal by this time. We checked on the progress of our order and was told it was just being plated up. However another 10 minutes passed and it still hadn’t arrived. We can only presume that our order was lost in the kitchen. We had to leave to collect someone so regrettably had to leave without having our meal. We explained the situation to the staff who cancelled our order but still charged us for our drinks rather than offering them as complimentary in view of the poor service.

I made a small comment about it being courteous to have been told this information on arrival, my family and I would have probably chosen to leave (small hungry child who wanted roast potatoes!!) He then looked at his watch and said "it's 5:30" as if signalling that I should know they didn't have roast dinners left! He also said something around having a power surge in the kitchen so they were behind on orders. Having worked in hospitality before, I understand problems happen and food runs out all I was hoping for was a heads up and then at least a "sorry" for the inconvenience. When the food arrived we were disappointed by the quality of the food compared to the price! The burgers tasted like frozen burgers, chips were really oily and the bread wasn't fresh. Like I said it was all edible, just felt like it was overpriced!

We had cod, chips and minted pea puree at "The Bluebell Inn" one night where we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff and enjoyed our meal.

Disappointing food. Went here after returning from a holiday abroad to eat and listen to a band.I ordered a rare steak which came pretty quickly considering how busy the pub was.25% of the steak was inediblle gristle and my comments to 2 waiters met with a shrug of the shoulders and "ok"! I went home hungry!

I went for a meal out with my family on the 18th July for my parents anniversary. With the current pandemic I was unsure on going out but the staff at the bluebell made us feel say and welcome. The food was amazing and we really enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend.

7 of us booked to watch the Euro Final ( 2 tables due to restrictions etc). Understandably we confirmed in advance that we would have a good view of the TV etc as obviously being the final we wanted to be able to hear/see the match without interruptions. Anyway when we arrived we were seated half in the lounge/dining area and half in the bar. Now that is not our gripe, we totally understand the current restrictions with tables not being able to be close together etc but our complaint is about the way James Grant conducted himself. James come to our table selling sweepstake tickets and I informed him that we were going to finish our drinks and head off somewhere else before the football kicked off.James obviously took huge offence to this and how he conducted himself was nothing but an absolute embarrassment to the pub, himself, his hard working staff and the Marston brand. He asked why we had decided to leave and I explained that we wanted a good view and some sound. Where we were sitting we were limited on both of these. Although he argued that it was 'perfect'. 7 of us respectively disagreed with his opinion. Anyway he decided to argue with me, stating he's had others sitting there that had no problem with the view etc. Which is fine but our party didn't agree. (which should of been the end of the matter) James still was arguing the toss with me saying that he had turned people down for the table and now we are leaving they would lose ££. Although we all bought a drink.. Which may I add racked up a fair bill.Whilst I/we totally appreciate and understand this stand point RE turning people down for tables, our group of 7 people weren't going to sit in a uncomfortable surroundings, not being able to watch the football properly just to please James. However by then the way he spoke to to me/us he had already made our decision for us. He complained that his 'friends' couldn't get a table anywhere and because of us they will miss out. Which I think was the real reason why he was aggrieved at us not staying. He then had the audacity to go and sit right in front of the TV in a seat he had clearly reserved for himself. Surely working in customer service, you understand the needs of the customer comes first? Not only that where we were seated clearly wasn't suitable for the football fans, as an older couple, who were clearly out for Sunday evening dinner complained about the noise we were making, bare in mind we were a party of 7 people comprising of mainly couples, not loud, obnoxious football fans.As a group we were pretty taken aback by his reaction, as he was raising his voice and becoming quite irate in front of his staff/members of the public/customers. Clearly his staff members were embarrassed as one ( assistant manger possibly), apologized and advised it was absolutely fine for us to leave if we wanted to. Not to mention before we left his words were 'enjoy watching the football at home'. James made our party (especially the female members) feel uneasy, embarrassed and unwelcome. With one of the party stating he must of been drinking to act like he did. Whether he was or not I cant say for certain. His awful unprofessional attitude not only lost the pub a huge amount of business that night, as we were all planning to eat and drink for 4 hours but has lost the pub a huge amount of future business, as we will never visit there again and we will be advising others of our experience. Not a smart play on James' part as Malvern is a small place and word travels fast. Its a shame as I don't like calling out people by name but James needs pulling up on this and potential new customers need to be aware of the kind of management that is in place. I've also contact Marston's pub to make them aware of the situation I myself I work in customer service and if I was to speak to a customer like he spoke to us, I wouldn't have a job. Needless to say, don't think any of us will ever consider returning

So I booked a table here for 5pm. I was so pleased I did. We felt so welcomed by the staff (Ashley) and he literally couldn't do more for us. He was really friendly and took a genuine interest in our day. The pub has a carpark with plenty of space. It also has a little play park for kids. Ashley took our drinks order which my hubby got a bitter and I got a diet coke. My coke came in a can but I prefer it this way. Ashley asked how much ice I wanted and if I wanted a glass etc. You don't get asked that very often. His attention to detail was great. I ordered the ribs and my husband got the steak and ale pie. The ribs were perfect. Chips beautifully cooked too. My husband said it was the best pie he's had in a long time. He's a very fussy eater so I was surprised. Really good quality meat. I couldn't resist pudding so I got an ice cream sundae which had mint, chocolate and raspberry ripple ice cream. Yummy and the bowl was frozen too. (Nice touch). This place was so good that we booked another meal in 2 days later. This time was equally brilliant. There was another gentleman on with his boss. They were also lovely and we felt very welcomed. Believe it or not, we had the same food as well. That's how good it was. If you're considering this place, just do it. We're gutted we live 3 hours away so can't visit more often. Thanks to all the staff. :-)

Today my family and I visited the bluebell after a funeral. The bluebell accommodated 24 meals plus. The service was phenomenal, meals were delivered within 15 minutes of being seated (meals were pre ordered). The staff were extremely friendly and provided an excellent service. I cannot recommend the bluebell enough. Thank you for making our special day perfect

Sitting outside in the sun with a choice of several real ales. What could be better. When it came to the food, not so good....3 out of 4 starters were excellent. The fourth (Garlic Bruschetta with fresh tomato salsa and balsamic glaze) sounded great too, but the chef had chosen to change out the tomato salsa for prosciutto ham. Good job we were not vegetarian. Then the mains. The Lamb Kebab unfortunately arrived cold and had to go back. Happy to write that off to Covid times and folk rushed off their feet. Really pleased to find when it came back that it hadn't just been microwaved, but a fresh one had been prepared. The real issue was the Wagyu Beefburger (sous-vide then finished under the grill and served slightly pink). Two of us had chosen this and both were the wrong side of well done. The meat was hard on the outside and dry and tasteless in the middle as though it had kept warm for an age under the grill. Dry and dark grey is the new pink. With wine the meal for 4 came to an overpriced £120. Beer was great and service was good, though

Stopped here after visiting the flea market at the showground up the road. The place was very busy but we managed to get seated in the beer garden. Unfortunately our table did not register with the computer system, so we had difficulty every time we ordered. We also had difficulty getting someone to take our orders (staff we spoke to kept saying they’d be back shortly, but then disappeared). The website said ‘countryside views’, but a beer garden and grassy area for overflow parking does not make a countryside view. Saying that, the beer garden was very pleasant. The food portions were minimal for the price paid and the drinks we felt were overpriced too, but maybe £18 for 2 ciders, a white wine and a coke is normal in this area. Can’t see us returning here or recommending.

Just visited for a quick drink and snack after work, great service, relaxed, friendly atmosphere as always. The Posh Cheesy Chips are a fabulous addition to the menu and I would recommend them to anyone! Delicious!

We ate and had a drink at the Bluebell. It was pretty standard pub food and very nice. We had the desert board, one of which came with custard in a jug... its quite hard to eat anything with this consistency on a wooden board, but tasted great all the same!Staff were very friendly, we hadn't booked a table but they managed to fit us in just fine.

Late afternoon lunch was enjoyable. Food & Drinks arrived within good time. Kept on top of cleaning/ sanitising which was good to see. Slightly inconvenient to have to pay after every new order, even though they had all our details as we had booked online. Our first time visiting here after seeing many posts on Facebook. We will be returning.

The menu was poor, their had been no changes since we stayed last year. My husband ordered the risotto, he didn't expect to have to pull sticks of heards out of his meal.

After having a lovely roast at the kings head we sat in their garden having a drink. Really unprofessionally the manager came over from the star inn and asked us to join them because ‘the drinks are cheaper’ Maybe but the live music is awful and your pub is empty - we now know why. So rude. Really unprofessional and an awful attitude to have towards another local business Absolutely no business coming from our large group who would have happily spent money behind the bar.

An amazing Sunday lunch at this lovely local pub. Visited with friends and 3 of us chose the roast beef. It is the best beef I've eaten. My friend, who is a vegetarian, had the Sunday roast but substituted the meat for cauliflower cheese...which she loved. I would highly recommend this lovely place for a warm and friendly Sunday lunch.
