We stayed 1 night at the hotel. The dinner was excellent. We ordered the steak grills, and they were delicious and cooked to near perfection. The staff are very friendly and helpful and better than expected given the strange reviews on them being slow. We ordered the Italian bottle of red, which went down well with the steaks. They had sea bass on the menu, but it's essentially Asian style stir fry with sea bass, so it was a bit confusing. I guess when you are in the Malvern area, you should really order steak or any red meat given the quality. The only strange thing of the restaurant is that people just come out from the spa and dine with their spa robes and wet shorts. We obviously got dressed up but didn't know about it. It's not a big deal, but just a bit weird. The decor of the restaurants needs a bit redoing but not for me to judge. Overall, I highly recommend the restaurant for the food :)

The service is very slow. Been twice and waited for drinks both times. A couple had waited before us and thet had forgotten 1st visit git asked 3 times what drink i wanted while I stood at the bat for 20 mins noone else waiting. Noone knew what they were doing and all 3 staff were under 20 just no management at all. Then suddenly one lovely guy told us to sit down and took our order again and made such a great impact I let the negative sly. We had sourdough with this mixed salad as a light bite and was beautiful. Our service witl him was great! Professional! He even re wiped our knife and forks. 2nd visit I sat in the restaurant where a waitress came over spoke Extremely loud while taking ny order which was quite embarrassing when you ask questions about different foods. People did stare. I ordered a coffee and soft drink and it took so long I went to the bar myself where it was just sat om a try. I said I will take it and our waitress got very blunt saying no I'm back now I will bring it. STILL waited another 5 mins and when it did arrive my coffee was so full it Spilt all down the cup and saucer. The coffee had be left waiting that long the Spilt coffee was dry all around the cup. Extremely messy. When I asked to have my coffee emptied to make room for me they still brought me back my dirty cup and luke warm coffee with stained coffee all around the rim too. She then acted very confused on what level to leave the coffee for milk. I had sweet chilli mayo crayfish wrap. It had no taste at all. I ate it as it was healthy but it was just like eating plain paper - fish was OK but not worth the money. Both times it was quiet. I feel they need to put more experienced in fine dining service as this is an expensive place and beautiful surroundings paying 87.50 a mth. Then paying extra for food and drinks. They needs more of a professional approach

Welcomed with a smile. All good. Spa ok views not the best-overlooking the grotty building walls of the premier inn. Massage ok. Girlfriends was with a Ukrainian that could not speak English so no communication on massage requirements there??? Room not cleaned still had the previous persons what looked like a dropped croissant crumbs on floor, bed not properly made. Had the cheek to charge £8 service charge. The drinks WELL…. If you’ve been here you’ll know the cocktails are AWFUL, and I mean awful, they’re not cocktails. Dinner weren't the best either tbh. Over priced. Overall not the best. Most of the staff smiley . Breakfast ok had the full English but again it was ok. But for nearly £500 for the day/night there’s much better spas to visit. Wish I’d took all the photos now to show but was trying my best to just see the good things than the bad. But do think about my comments as they’re genuine and from a couple than go many places in the uk and abroad. Oh the spa towels we were given, one had a big hole the other brown stains…. I mean cmon get the simple things right please. So for me I’ll never return.

The main parts of the meal mentioned above were delicious, really good. However the wedges in my opinion would have been much better baked rather than fried and there was too much mayo in the slaw and if there was any Chipotle at all in it, I couldn't taste it, which was a shame with everything else being very good

I cannot believe that people are likening the food here to pub grub. The food we have had at The Grovewood is the best we've ever had anywhere. The menu is relatively limited but the food is absolutely exceptional. I cannot praise it highly enough. If the chefs can make a carrot soup that we still talk about a couple of years later, they are doing something right! The prices are very reasonable too. We were only commenting that the prices are akin to those we pay at a local chain restaurant where the food is mediocre. The food at The Grovewood is outstanding value for the quality. If we didn't live 170 miles away, this would be our restaurant of choice, no doubt about it.

We came on a deal break to the Malvern. After reading other reviews I found myself agreeing with the majority of comments made. The spa was lovely and all the different steam rooms were well worth trying. The staff here work incredibly hard a are a credit to the facility . The evening meal at The Grovewood was exceptionally good. It was well presented, tasty and good portions. We were far to full after a starter and main and couldn't have managed a dessert if we tried. The restaurant staff were friendly and courteous and my only point if I was being really picky was the ambience during dinner on the evening. Would definitely recommend and would return for another visit

We love the Spa... but why is the food always poor? We have eaten in the restaurant about 3 times now and it’s never been good. We hoped that with the recent changes it would have improved, but sadly it hasn’t. The service was incredibly slow, we waited a long time for both drinks and food. I had ordered fish and chips which is about as simple as a meal gets. Both were really greasy and tasted of oil. Most of my ‘chips’ were about an inch long. It felt like I had been served the scraps left over at the end of the day. My partner had a burger, same awful ‘chips’ and a burger which tasted incredibly processed. Both meals are simple to get right, and at £15 each, it’s shocking really.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed at The Malvern Spa for one night for his birthday. I was very pleased that dinner & breakfast was included, there was not very much of a variety for dinner, I ordered the duck with pineapple and sweet potato. I did not like the sauce used at all, I thought it was very bitter and did not go with the food very well. My partner had ordered the sunday roast and was happy to swap with me, he did not like the sauce either but managed to disguise the awful taste with apple sauce (which I do not like anyway). I think all of the dinners were very full on and very rich. Not many simples/bland meals or any simple alternatives.I was a bit disappointed that the drinks were not included with the dinner as part of the deal. The lady asked if we would like some water of which we said yes, normally water is free wherever you go and therefore, I was a bit disappointed that we had to pay for the water (after finding out it had been added to my bill and not told) despite it being malvern water. I did not mind paying for it as it wasn't very much but it would have been nice to have been told.Breakfast was scrumptious, a good variety of food and drinks. A bit disappointed that the cereal and juice you would have to pay for, as this type of stuff is normally included in the stay. I understand the extras such as pineapple, greek yogurt etc is a bit more expensive and nicer, maybe this should not have been with the cereal stuff etc. We weren't greeted when we walked into the breakfast room. I do feel that we were approached way too many times during dinner and breakfast, we were approached at least 4/5 times during dinner and the same during breakfast, which is a lot.

Ate here while staying at hotel - evening meal - Resturant spotless well lit and plenty of rooms round tables which were also ample size not too small as in some restaurants we have previously been in and not too close together. We were shown promptly to our table and seated by the waitress who provided us with menus which she fully explained to us- drinks ordered and with not much wait. Another waiter Ollie came to take our food order - think he must have had a bad day I ordered fish and chips but I wanted the peas omitting as I do not eat them his reply was "it's a pea purée" stating the obvious there Ollie as it says on the menu - but still peas I asked if I could swap for another veg -reply was "you will have to pay". We also got told we would not want two portions of parsnips as they big portions well we actually did - but felt like we couldn't so ordered the veg. All the food was excellent hot tasty and well presented - evening meal was very good but breakfast the next day disappointing - menu choice poor and then when we got breakfast no beans or black pudding as on menu- no explanation provided or apology (Ollie again ) just bought out one piece of black pudding on a plate literally dumped on table "this is all we have " evening meal good breakfast poor lets face it - beans not fresh perishable product !! One last comment Ollie needs to remember where he is when talking to other staff - heard him talking to other member of staff where guests could hear - patronising the other staff member.

This restaurant is in the luxurious Malvern Spa Hotel, however, the restaurant is not up to standard. On both evenings we were there there seemed to be a problem with the potatoes, stale tasting and cold. The rump steak was good but needed some juices or gravy to moisten it, which was forthcoming when we asked for it but should have been there up front. The cheese I ordered was discoloured, probably the drier end of an aged block, and should have been trimmed. The restaurant let the place down and needs tuning up.

They even got me gluten free bread whilst my partner had his roll at the beginning. The food was tasty and a lot of the ingredients were local, which we particularly liked.Would definitely recommend that you eat here.

We had an enjoyable dinner here but the food quality was not wonderful. Service was pleasant and friendly. Surprised to hear our wine being opened in the kitchen and not at the table!!

Four of us spent one night at the Malvern hotel for a spa break. We ate in the hotel restaurant on Sunday evening. The menu was fairly limited but this was not a problem as we each found starters, main courses and desserts that we liked. As we ordered several different dishes between the four of us, we sampled most of what was on offer. Without exception, the dishes were very well presented and extremely tasty - no one left anything! The pan-fried sea bream main course and creme brûlée dessert were excellent. We all agreed that the meal was first class and served by very friendly staff.

We stayed for one night at the hotel and spa but it was the restaurant that made this stay so special. As a coeliac, eating out can be difficult as I require gluten free food. The chef Steve Rimmer and his team made me feel incredibly welcome, creating gluten free canapes just for me, Our food was wonderful at both dinner and breakfast - very good value for money. We ate rather too much probably negating any detox effect from the Spa - but frankly it was worth it!

The whole experience was fantastic. Yes it could be viewed as slightly expensive but the free bottle of wine helped offset this. the staff and the quality of food were brilliant, and they were quite happy to cater for me , a fussy eater!

Our dinner at The Malvern Restaurant was very good. The bill for two came to around £100 including a good bottle of wine at around £35. Highly recommend the pork loin and also the strawberry soufflé. I'd seen some negative reviews about service on here, but we found it quick and friendly.

Poor value food, warm bottle of white wine, no drinks offered before meal, wrong dessert served. Chef offered to remove items for gluten-free diet but not replace with anything. Cramped seating and so noisy from other diners - actually could not wait to leave as my ears hurt. Went for Valentines Night and won't be returning.

Great menu, and amazing food. Myself and partner both had the pork belly to start and i have to admit it was probably the best pork belly I've tried, the sauces used complimented it beautifully. The mains were lovely too, the only minor criticism is the desert we had which included a sticky toffee pudding, mulled fruit, and cinnamon ice-cream could of done with a little bit of sauce for the pudding.

The staff were very attentive, sometimes a little slow with service but overall good. The food was excellent. I had the slow cooked angus beef and it just fell apart. Very tasty and good value for money.

The food was overpriced, the scallops were not very fresh and the lamb was overcooked. Not a disaster but not worth the money.

Food was well prepared and tasty. Prices quite high (Starters £6-£9 Mains £15-£19) but worth it overall. A little concerned as to how often they change the menu, with only 5 or 6 Starters and 5 or 6 Mains choices could become very limited fairly quickly.

Fine dining at less than fine dining prices. The desserts were a particular pleasure. Pleasant atmosphere and surroundings. Service was a little hit and miss, we weren't offered rolls until half way through our main course, but they were polite and enthusiastic.

Firstly this review is for the restaurant section only and doesn't involve the spa/hotel itself.Due to lack of time we ended up booking a table here while staying at the spa, first impression was that the restaurant was small and setup as more of a extra room, lacking much atmosphere or decoration at all. The best point is that the food was decent, steak was cooked well with a few interesting sides, and pork terrine was tasty. However the price wasn't really justified by the food. The main negative point was service, we were not asked if we wanted a drink and had to request this, different staff brought out each course, and staff seemed disinterested.Summary - For "fine dining" and this price point, there are other better options in the area and I wouldn't recommend here as a preferred choice.

This would have to be the worst spa experience I've ever had. Being Easter and very last minute decision to go I realised I had made a huge mistake coming. When I arrived after nearly 3 hours from London the site resembled an industrial site. I was greeted at reception by a young man who bluntly said I was too early to check in. I had to come in early before check in as the only treatment available for the entire 2 nights stay was 2 hours before check in. Note to self NEVER go to these places with only 1 treatment as you'll be bored to tears without getting outside... I wasn't shown around the spa and was given a map by the brain dead reception guy. Although I have to say all the reception staff bar this 1 man were very courteous. After waiting 2 hours after my treatment I was then taken to my room. Thinking I'm sure the room would make up for it but sad to say no.... I got to my room, opened the curtains to find my room has the direct view if the car park. Lovely!

We have just returned from a spa break (6 ladies) where we ate in the restaurant for dinner. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the food was delicious and the service for both food and drinks was second to none. By request the waiting on staff presented a cake to one of our party at the end of the evening which made her night, and when we were still chatting late into the evening, our waitress led us through to the spa area to relax and chat more comfortably on the sofas. The only let down was that our girly evening was cut short by a group of blokes staying at the hotel who were far too drunk and imposed themselves upon us towards the end of the night so we all went to bed. Not the retaurants fault, but a downer none the less.We cant wait to return.

We arrived to an almost empty restaurant. It was all very quiet and could only hear the staff talking behind the door which led to their 'staff area' We had our food and drinks brought to us by different people each time. The only staff consistancy was the manager who you could hear coming from a mile off in her high heals. How impractical and if anything unsafe for working in a food enviroment? Dont get me wrong their was nothing wrong with the service it was just so impersonal and unspecial. The only saviour was the food. The food really was absolutley stunning! It saved our entire evening. They have a very talented chef in the kitchen. We just felt that it was such a shame that it was let down by the service, surroundings and atmosphere. Unfortunatley we wont be returning as their are restaurants in and around Malvern which provide the same quality of food just with a better atmosphere and friendly staff.

We are members at the spa and have eaten there several times. The food is very light so after 3 courses you do not feel uncomfortably stuffed-it's almost guilt-free eating out if you are trying to be healthy. The only downside is that we can't go more often as then it would not seem a special meal out as there is a scarcity of good restaurants in the area. The food is well presented, looks lovely on the plate and the canapes and little extra courses are lovely. We have taken friends several times and have always enjoyed the meal and the service, the cost is about what we would expect for the quality and the reasonable mark-up on champagne makes a bottle not much more than the cost of wine so you can feel that you are spoiling yourself.
