Great breakfast and lovely staff

Friendly, welcoming staff and amazing food. Would highly recommend to everyone. Our puppy was very welcomed too. Will definitely go again if visiting the area.

Don’t think steak had seen a frying pan. Insipid and tasteless. Frozen fish the type you buy in box in super Market And since when does salad and coleslaw go with fish and chips

Looking at some of the other reviews, I think we must have struck lucky when we visited. We had an excellent evening meal, reasonably priced, served by a very nice polite lady, meal was really tasty. Can't fault it at all, sat in the garden afterwards. It was a very pleasant end to our walk around Upton and the Marina itself. Thank you so much.

I found the Wheelhouse by accident boy what a find staff were brilliant the service was excellent and the food was amazing. The atmosphere with people were buzzing. Just pop in and see for yourself you won’t be disappointed.

Cheap food, and you get what you pay for, it was very average, which wasn't a surprise. What really made our visit terrible was the staff. I have never seen such miserable and rude staff before. The young lady who took our order rushed us, despite us being the only people at the bar at that time, and seemed annoyed by our presence. Our food, although it arrived promptly, was thrown on the table with nothing more than a grunt. At one point, another member of staff passed us and asked what I wanted as I was looking through all the sauces in the box provided (I really can't fault the selection of condiments), and when I said I was just looking at what there is, she let out a very annoyed 'oh' as she stomped off. Would be a fine place to go for cheap food, if not for the staff.

Lovely bar and restaurant right by the marina. Very chilled out atmosphere. Went with friends and all agreed it was a nice place to finish the might. The food was lovely and decently priced as was the drinks. Alot cheaper than in the town. Staff worked very hard as place got quite busy. They also had a band on from 9 o'clock who were spot on. Thank you wheelhouse bar we shall return.

Fabulous setting on the marina. We arrived for a drink and decided to eat. Cafe type menu which was fine for what we needed. All reasonable prices - quality was as expected for cost of food.

Went early Saturday evening arrived around 18.40. The premises were very quiet. The barmaid on duty late 30's looked and behaved as if she didn't want to be there. No eye contact, no thank you etc..We were seated in the main restaurant. The first thing we noticed was the uncomfortable rickety chairs. My wife opted for the Lasagne with Salad and I went for a Special of The Day "Homemade Individual Steak Pie". We waited ages for our food. My wife's Lasagne consisted of two sheets of Lasagne in a watery sauce with little trace of any meat. The pastry to my pie was like concrete and like my wife's Lasagne lacking in Meat. No-one came to the table to see if we were happy with our food and we just wanted to leave as soon as possible. We waited in vain for someone to come to our table and in the end I ended up having to go to the bar to settle the bill. On settling the bill my wife noticed that we had been overcharged in the sum of £8.10. I went back to the bar to query this with the barmaid who at ghe time was elsewhere. I took it up with a male member of staff who reimbursed us. Check your bill if you decide to visit...

Been here a few times and the food is always very good and great value, recently had the lasagna which was tasty and came with a very nice salad, portions are also very generous what’s not to like

Rude staff. Appreciate it was a hot day, but all staff had a horrendous attitude, didn’t look like they wanted to be there at all. Didn’t feel welcome at all, Witnessed an elderly gentleman, walk up to the bar to say thank you before he left, the snotty teenager just looked blankly at him while frowning. I work in hospitality myself, and it doesn’t hurt to smile?!. Could have given them a few tips. Shame as the food was alright, but I’m afraid I won’t be returning.

Stopped by for lunch, great food and very well priced. Would recommend as a great place to eat.

Firstly We were very happy with the food. On arrival we went to sit at one table and had to move due to a leak in the roof. Moving to another table, one of the chair had obviously at some point been under the leaking roof area and was soaking wet. I had to spend the rest of time with a soaking wet behind. My issue is that no one offered any apologies or help.

Always love coming for a meal here, staff are friendly and accommodating. It is a lovely atmosphere and the food is excellent quality and such good value. Thank you so much.

Very generous portions, good hearty food. Loads of parking. No children changing facilities. Friendly staff. Ale always seems to be off on the pump when we've visited but all other drinks great! Lovely atmosphere.

Five of us had the Xmas fayre meal. Lovely table prepared for us with crackers. Cutlery, glasses, plates etc were clean. We ate a three course meal. Wonderfully hot and delicious food. Attentive and friendly staff. Good value. Definitely recommend and will be back.

The cutlery was dirty. Asked for a jug of water and it came with bits floating in it. We asked for a clean one but this also had bits in.

Our 2nd visit, once bitten definitely twice shy! Food generally very nice but after waiting for it for almost an hour, having booked the table, toddled to the bar to pay for it, absolutely zero interaction from any staff members, it finally came out, well some of it. No cutlery, by the time the veg came out, the mash and grave were cold on the plate, the roast potato had been cremated and therefore couldn’t be cut into two let alone consumed. Had to ask for cutlery then had to ask for napkins, the crispy Yorkshire pudding was now soggy from the cold gravy. Disappointing all round, decided as we didn’t eat all our cold lunch, we would have a dessert, back off to the bar to order and pay, then waited another 30 minutes after which, one of us was served, by the time the other 2 were served, they were out of vanilla ice cream so the order had to be changed. Still zero interaction from any staff. Kids/students running around like headless chicken, stressed, sweaty, no waiters or waitresses even though booked to eat in the dining room and not the bar, everything just so impersonal. Whilst waiting for dessert, a heavily made up lady (could have been the owner)? was running round the tables tidying up, took our napkins, which I asked her to leave, which was a mistake because she was rude because we had put her out. Totally impersonal service, if they regard themselves as a bar, then just serve bar meals, if they want to be known as having a restaurant, then spend some money and employ some people who actually enjoy working there, interacting with customers and making them feel welcome, waiters and waitresses who take your order, serve your food and pop back occasionally to see how your doing, instead of people who are clearly not in the right job who are making customer’s feel like they are too much trouble. Sorry won’t be coming back a 3rd time, we thought the first time was a one off but apparently not.

A lovely spot. Excellent views a nice walk round the Marina too Reasonably Priced and tasty lunch. Blackberry bushes as well. Win Win.

Orders a all day breakfast and was asked what toast I wanted when ordering and I said white the cook then said to the bar lady in a very abrupt way that Chios come with the all day breakfast toast is extra I felt very uncomfortable at this time for the bar lady and when food arrived there was no toast havnt enjoyed the whole experience at all

Lovely home cooked food, all three of us enjoyed our main courses and desserts. Very generous portions too. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

Cooked breakfast all tasted of cooking oil as virtually everything was deep fried! Sausage, hash brown, mushrooms and the egg swimming in oil. Toast was good. Service good, coffee not good. Great location but sadly would not recommend there breakfast.

Stopped for hot drinks and a snack Ordered an Americano Coffee and pot of tea plus packet of crisps & a lemon tart Surprised that the cake which was fully wrapped & on counter to choose from was not served on a plate & just in the cellophane packaging but otherwise the service was good & drinks were delicious and piping hot In a lovely setting on the marina but due to it being a wet day we didn't get the benefits of the setting

3 of us went to lunch on Thursday 8th March 2023. We had steaks one sirloin which came out almost rare when we asked for well done but they took it back and cooked it a bit more. The ribeye was had quite a lot of fat running right down the middle so only a bit of edible meat on either side. But the the chips and salad was ok. The thing that took me by surprise was when I asked for half a glass of water with ice and I was asked for 50p for it out of the tap, hence I said no thanks and walked away. I have never ever been asked to pay for tap water anywhere.

Lovely place to visit. Look out at the Marina whilst enjoying some freshly prepared homely food. Reasonable prices, lovely staff, pleasant surroundings and good breakfasts as well as lunches and dinners. Easy access. Easy parking. Beautiful setting.

Every visit is a pleasure! Great food, lovely team and always a very friendly atmosphere. Can highly recommend for any meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you try nothing else, have a go at the fillet steak... just perfect!

We booked for a valentines meal after seeing the menu advertised on Facebook. A simple no frills menu - ticked all the boxes. The table was laid out with roses and petals on it. The place was busy with a good atmosphere. The food was lovely and considering it was £20 for 3 courses. It was a real bargain. Definitely worth another visit.

We decided to stay for some quick lunch at The Wheelhouse and, although they had a short menu due to the bank holiday, we were quite pleased with the options available. The jackpotatoes were delicious, as it was everything else. Coffee was really nice too. To top it all up, the staff was extremely attentive and friendly! We appreciate all hospitality professionals who work during bank holidays to provide a nice experience to others who are lucky to enjoy the day off, and there they were clearly having a nice time kindly helping all their customers, always with a smile in their faces. There seemed to be an indifference to customers. We stood waiting at the bar while 2 of the staff have a conversation, the beer was cloudy. We were then shown to our table and waited until another customer told us we had to go to the bar to order. The food was OK but only warm and I would have liked some wine but didn't see a waiter to order it.

Simple order was incorrectly taken, resulting in errors upon arrival. When these were politely pointed out, the response was embarrassingly rude. Having taught Customer Service in the past, there were certainly more than a few areas I could have offered advice upon. I doubt any comments would have been welcomed, however. The clue is in the name - "customer" and "service". The body language and terse replies were more than enough to convince anyone to take their custom elsewhere in future. Unfortunately, a seemingly sad reflection on hospitality in this area as a whole recently. Clearly do not feel the need to attract nor maintain patronage judging by recent responses to similar reviews.

Definitely some customer service training needed. Responses and body language bordering on rude. Food was fine (although order was unfortunately not taken accurately). Probably rely upon outside ambience, especially in summer.

We have never been before, and we won't be going back. The staff are rude and unfriendly, not at all customer focused and very dismissive. One would think that asking for crispy bacon when placing my order and NO chocolate on the cappuccinos was not a difficult request, it clearly was. When the coffees came out 1 had chocolate on it, which we mentioned to the rude, sour faced waitress, she was not happy and said if we wanted to order another one, we would have to pay for it - even though it was their mistake. My bacon was cooked, but was very fatty and definitely NOT crispy as ordered. I asked if they could take it back to crisp it up - the look of disgust on the waitress's face was shocking, not a word of apology or 'of course, no problem' It was brought back 2 minutes later, no difference. The soft, cheap bap was so greasy I squeezed lot of fat onto my plate. My dog ate the sandwich as for me it was inedible. The coffee was cheap and nasty. It tasted like powdered cappuccino that you buy in sachets. The Wheelhouse felt unclean and smelt of fried food. It is not difficult to make a place clean, friendly and offer a good cup of coffee and train your staff to be polite, friendly and willing to correct their mistakes. Avoid this place

Went for Sunday lunch. Lovely food. Pleasant staff and surroundings. It would have got 5 but the wheelchair access lets it down. They need to put small ramps either side of the French windows to make it easier to access.

Food very good but having pre ordered food for 15 people 4 days before the event the service and organisation was appalling we booked for 12 30 and waited 1 hour before any food appeared people who came after us were served before us this scenario continued throughout the whole meal so we will not be returning or recommending the venue to anyone else, the whole experience was very disappointing having been many times es before and had excellent service

Charged more than Costa for a small cup of coffee, and it tasted so awful I couldn't drink it. Inside was dingy so we sat outside, the seating was cheap and uncomfortable. Felt sorry for the member of staff who served us as she seemed to be having a bad day, other staff were cheerful and welcoming. I had high hopes for this well situated restaurant but I was really disappointed, sadly I won't be coming back.

A great bar and restaurant by the river Severn just outside Upton centre. You don't have to have a boat here to use the wheelhouse, there's easy parking right outside and a great atmosphere and friendly staff

Popped in for coffee after a motorcycle rideout. Very pleasant surroundings. Coffee was very well priced. Staff were friendly and attentive. Seating outside was sensible from a distancing perspective. Nice place, happily return. Noticed the breakfast was also well priced - sadly, wasn't hungry at the time, so can't comment!
