The best restaurants serving British food in West Midlands

Staying local so booked in for Sunday Lunch today. Certainly not disappointed, we had an amazing Sunday roast dinner beef and pork. Really well presented with side dishes of wonderful fresh vegetables, cabbage carrots and beans, you rarely get fresh vegetables now a days. We also had gorgeous Dauphinoise potatoes. We shared a huge Aston Mess their take on Eaton mess, so much fruit and cream yummy. The couple running the pub are so very nice, sad that it was so quiet but guess late in season. We did go back later for their Open Mike evening which was very well attended such a great community atmosphere. We will definitely be back and wish you both good things. P.S. Opposite the Travelodge so very handy for us. A nice and clean pub restaurant. Great choice of menu options. Staff friendly and helpful. Loads to choose from. Very nice food delivered hot and nicely cooked. I had the steak and had a very pleasant surprise it was still slightly pink as requested. Would definitely go again when in the area.

Fantastic place for relaxing and enjoying a good dinner

It’s a Wetherspoons. It’s mediocre.

Food was mediocre to say the least. Burrito bowl was like a microwave dish, with extra bits piled on top. Burger bun was over toasted but edible. Staff are friendly enough, overall place could do with a deep clean, carpets are tired etc but it's a budget food place so don't expect the Ritz

I used to use this establishment years ago but it’s gone downhill over the years but we went out for a family meal for 6 of us to see how the new owners have settled in. The one room is a sports bar which seemed to be very busy and had a great atmosphere but we went in the lounge/restaurant which was better suited for us. There was a few kids making abit of noise & messing about but I suppose that’s to be expected in a family restaurant but other than that, it was lovely. Good pub grub, we all left happy! had a lovely young lady serving us but forgot to catch her name but she was very attentive and friendly. The manager was very nice and engaging when we asked him questions about how they’re finding it here. Overall a brilliant day out for a birthday meal thank you all, we will all be returning very soon!!!

Called in on a Tuesday night at the beginning of December, and trust me I understand that it’s a difficult time of year, but also January and February are harder, so why close down the bar at 7.45 and make it obvious you’ve had enough because there’s no way we will want to come back in the new year, if you have had enough so early on, other pubs just up the road are full so it’s about attitude and welcome and not you’re “privileged “place in the town which probably costs your managers more.!!

We recently had our wedding at The Lion Hotel, and had a fantastic day. All of the staff were brilliant, very friendly & helpful. The food was fantastic and a variety of dietary requirements were catered for, with no problem at all. During the planning Noel was excellent, he clearly knew exactly what he was doing, he answered all of our questions quickly and made us feel confident that the day would go well. On the day Noel & Alex helped to calm our nerves and put us both at ease so that we could really enjoy our day without having to worry as we knew everything was taken care of.

Booked a table for my family today, queue was massive, people waiting everywhere, was told at least 1 hour wait,, more like 2 with the amount of people queuing, definitely overbooked with people, we were told it will be like this wherever you go, we left and found a lovely little pub, was very busy but totally undercontrol, unlike toby, disappointed to say the least, total chaos

Nice big spoons. There is an outside area which seems to be exclusively for people who smoke. There should be a smoking area. We had to go inside on a hot day to have our reasonably priced beer as the smoke was to overwhelming. Sort it out spoons.

!!BEWARE!! They like to charge you different prices for delivery/online orders then they do collection. This has happened to me on more than one occasion now, they are clearly just out to rob you. When I questioned this practice they weren't interested and seemed to think it is perfectly acceptable to do this. To put it into perspective, and order that according to their website should have cost around £24 cost £31. A couple of quid fair enough but £7 is taking the piss! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Had to escape the rain on a busy school run and the lovely Becky invited myself and my mother inside, only had two bottles of coke and felt welcome Staff are absolutely lovely and very cosy inside. Big thumbs up 👍
