Our server, Mark, was exceptional. Every time I thought 'I might want..' he was there in front of us. Definately questioning telepathy. It reminded me of the service I got when I went to a michelin star, honestly. Very attentive and unintrusive. Only lost one star for the size of the vegetarian option and cost - I think we forget that veggies are substantially less filling than meat. The portion was already small, but in comparison with my friend's meat option, priced about the same, it was quite sad. I was still hungry after the £18 (!) Aubergine Gratin. I imagine portion size is a pretty quick-fix for this place, so I really hope they just listen and make it bigger. I would come semi-regularly if they did, I probably would not come again at all if they didn't.

Excellent service , staff very attentive and the menu has a very good range of dishes . We had an excellent time and would recommend it . Finished our meal with an Expresso Martini 😊. All delicious , thank you

Friendly place and very welcoming

Thoroughly enjoyed the three course lunch menu. Food and service were excellent, from the moment we arrived until we left. The pub was well spaced out, nice decor, great outdoor area also. Would definitely recommend visiting this great pub.

We just had a lovely evening at The White Lion. Lovely relaxed cosy atmosphere, and we were so well looked after by Loryn at the bar. Our food was delicious, cooked by Sue and Tony. Would definitely recommend!!

Travelled to the UK , Coventry when we came across an offer to get 10 pounds of next visit to this pub. We signed up and hey presto a voucher appears. So wife called up and booked a table and we were in, so simple. We arrived and what a fantastic old pub with plenty of charm, large carpark out the back by a large beer garden. I loved the fact they allowed dirty wellies and paws into the pub garden area. The inside is very quaint, so old worldly that you feel you want to duck your head when you walk in so you don’t bump your head on the beams etc. We were greeted by the lovely barmaid who promptly pulled my cellar chilled real English ale, followed by a glass of wine, then off to our pre booked table and i would suggest booking it was fairly full. As you peruse the menu and allow it bring up some childhood nostalgic memories of meals, you quickly see they have been updated to modern country pub meals. Fish cakes have become smoked Haddock fish cakes with trim steamed broccoli and spinach, which is what i went for, absolutely devine, crispy outside and lush inside, full of flavour, could have been a little more generous in either size or a third one for the cost, but very nice. Wife had the Pie of the day which turned out to be Chicken and Mushroom, i did cast an eye every now and then to see if she was going to leave any as it was hearty and golden and packed with chicken and mushroom, but alas it was all devoured. Maybe next time. I opted for the Cheese plate instead of dessert (pudding over here), really the only delta, the Brie and Stilton cheeses spot on, but the other two were a little nondescript, lacked flavour or punch. Biscuits plenty full and a great variety, overall quantity was good value, just need a few better cheeses. Looking at the other dishes on the table and asking how they were, everyone loved the food, the Fillet Steak was perfect for me rare but she asked for med rare, and she said it was very nice and enjoyed it. The fish and chips were also a generous portion and again nothing was left on the plates ! Service was excellent Mark was busy but kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything else and barmaid was very polite. Recommended for a country pub treat and we will be going back again before we head back over to Oz.

I could not rate the food four starred, and the reason the £18 quids burgers never reach the standards of the price tag ! Patty was dry , I don't know if it's half cooked or some reason it was so difficult to eat the burger ! Brownies were too good ! Hot chocolate was very nice ! but the burger was a disappointment!

Went for Lunch Saturday, had the best visit. Mark was so chatty and polite couldn’t do enough for us - you’ve got a proper gem there! Will defo return

DISGUSTING, SHAMELESS, THIEVING BUSINESS!! Visited this local pub for the first time on the 29th July with my young child. I met a friend and an old colleague. We chose the set menu for lunch. When we went to pay I had a £10 off voucher. But the lady failed to mention that it cannot be used in conjunction with set lunch. So we were overcharged when paying the bill as the set menu would have been cheaper. I called the restaurant but was encountered with lies and rudeness. I went in to explain the situation. Instead the guy at the counter (didn’t get his name) laughed me with two other customers. This made me feel terrible and like a joke. This was definitely the first and last time we will ever visit this pub. Customer service and etiquette is 0. To laugh at a customer with other people and do it so loud is disrespectful, he should have some shame. You robbed us and not even one apology from you. You ruined our day, we shall not be coming back.

Lovely pub and food was nice. The waitress clearly just wanted us to pay up and go although it wasn’t that busy. She very kindly allowed us a couple of more minutes to chat

Love the White Lion BUT went along for an afternoon drink on a hot day, put off from going in the garden due to loud music being played over the speaker. Horrible. So went to the Red Lion instead where it was nice and peaceful. The advantages are 1. You can hear your conversation 2. You can hear the sounds of nature 3. You don't have to tolerate some second rate "music" harmful to your ears. Seems lots of places play music these days, shame.

Went for Sunday lunch with my Wife and dog. The bar restaurant is dog friendly. The trio of roasts was very good. As was the Lamb rump. The drinks were good quality. Not the cheapest around, but would recommend, as you get what you pay for. We will return very soon.

A big thank you. We went today for 2 x anniversary celebrations. Had a fabulous meal. Great choice of menus. Friendly staff. Especially Shannon who served us and thank you to Chef Sam, our food was delicious and very well presented, especially the signature beef burger; best ever, would definitely recommend and be returning.

Disabled access was poor we found the food tasteless and over priced and the choices were poor won't be going back.

Food is OK. Service is extremely slow. Would not come here unless you don't mind a long wait for everything! The staff also don't like yo clear your plates from your table once you have finished eating. Not sure why the service was so slack this time. The waitress we had last time was extremely helpful with excellent customer service

Went into this pub that is local to me. Was busy for a Thursday. Election night so maybe a reason people were out. Found a table, dog friendly. Lox at the bar was polite, helpful and welcoming. Ordered wine and given a cooler. Later needed water for the dog. This was no problem for Loz to sort even though was busy. Been in past and place wasn’t great. Have it a chance again and would say enjoyed the evening. Well done.

Overall our main meal was really poor. The food had clearly been sitting under heat lamps for quite some time as the lamb, prawn and chicken skewers were chewy and dry. It is also absurd to be charging £18.50 for one skewer and a small bowl of chips. We also had 2 sharing platters for starters which were really good and our waiter was excellent and very accommodating for the issues we faced with our main meal so the service deserves 5 stars. Overall I wouldn’t return, I think they had too many people booked in and too little staff to cope which led to lots of issues with the main meal, it is also really expensive for what you are actually getting.

Visited late afternoon for Sunday lunch. The service, quantity and quality of the food was very good. However it was served just warm on lukewarm plates. Plenty of gravy but again only warm and not piping hot to help the food. So within 10 minutes of receiving the dinner, it was all cold. Found this disappointing as it tasted really good and at £21.25 each for the trio of meats and the Lamb it should of been hot.

Stopped here for a business lunch. Fab outdoor area, friendly staff, and the food was lovely especially the tapas sharing menu! Will easily go back next time I'm up that way.

We had a party of family and friends yesterday in a side room at this venue in celebration of my sister’s birthday and we had a great experience. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Despite being full of diners we could not fault the friendly and attentive service and the generous portions of delicious food. Our thanks to manager and all for such a great experience. Well done!!

Went on a Thursday lunch, it started quite quiet but as more people came the pub got a pleasant buzz. Service was great, the food was really good. I really enjoyed my time in the pub.

The White Lion is a beautiful, traditional English public house with a lovely atmosphere. The seating areas are well spaced out and as well as having a good selection of beers, wines and spirits the food is good too. Helpful and friendly staff will add to your enjoyment. The White Lion is popular, so if you want to go there for a meal it is a good idea to phone up and book a table.

We popped in yesterday for a quick lunch, but stayed for drinks and 3 courses! We sat in the bar with the dog, which was cosy and quiet. The food was lovely, and the staff were charming and efficient. They also had blankets for you dogs. The arancini and pavlova are particular good. Really great vegetarian options too!

Disappointed came here last time and it was nice other than the fact that they forgot our carrots on the Sunday roast and tried to tell us they don’t do them on the roasts. I came today for the second time and the roast potatoes were rock hard our food came out before the drinks so we didn’t get time to drink before the food which should be common sense. Staff lady seemed like she didn’t want to do her job and laughed at me when I asked her for something. Sort it out £18 for a roast dinner I don’t expect rock hard roasties food was also luke warm and Mac and cheese was vile too garlicky cauli flower cheese was dry with no cheese sauce just dry cauliflower.

Improved on last visit, where I received no response about our awful visit. However we thought that we would try again. King prawn and scallops, were not king prawn, disappointed but was taken of bill. Steak was medium not medium rare. Vegetable was Luke warm. And ice cream not delivered, again taken off bill. And finally, after a few pints I love to finish my meal with a nice gin and tonic. However I can't believe that a pub and restaurant of this standard, had run out of tonic water. Leaving me perplexed, as to why no-one had the presence of mind to go and get a load from the local supermarket. I appreciate that you may have buying standards, but if you are buying the same product you wouldn't contravene your allergen matrix. Also the loss of revenue must have been considerable.

Great venue, plenty of room for drinkers and diners. Lovely outside seating for warmer weather. The staff were very efficient. Prices not too bad. Can't fault the place. Friendly village vibe, unusual for a Vintage Inn.

Josh our waiter was excellent, he was funny and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. He took time to talk to us and made you feel like you were not just another customer. The food was great too.

I think this could be the best place for a Sunday roast in Coventry now. We had a table of 8 and all of our starters mains and desserts were delicious the service was excellent too. We will all definitely be back

Arrived for a pre booked table, ignored by multiple staff, dirty tables everywhere, bar covered in empty glasses. To then be told there was a reduced menu and our table wasn't ready. Left and went elsewhere

Randomly came in for food as we was passing by. Was greeted by what I think was a manager, his name was mark. What a lovely guy, his personality shone through. We ordered our food and it came out relatively fast considering it was a busy. We ordered the sea bass and a sirloin steak. Both was delicious. Came out hot and cooked beautifully. I definitely will be making the journey to return, hopefully when marks on again. Top marks for him! Thankyou for helping make our visit enjoyable.

Booked the White Lion for my Nan's 85th birthday and really wished I hadn't bothered. Booked meal for 1.30pm only to be served food at 2.50pm. I expect a wait but not this long, i could have bought and cooked it from a supermarket in this time! Food arrived cold and belly pork was full of fat and inedible. Many a good pubs are cheaper and better value for money near by. Won't be coming back as this is the second time we have experienced this, but the first time put it down to the busy Christmas period. Management really need to sort this out as i've had several friends say they have had the same experience.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. Food was great, good portion size, service was good and we really enjoyed our visit. We were dog sitting, and this is a dog friendly place too.

Server was very good. My wife's chicken was OK. My roast beef was horrible. I am sure the whole plate of food apart from the Yorkshire Pudding had been re heated. Would not visit again

Service has really gone down hill. Food is OK but expensive. Only use for an occasional local drink now.

The food here is spot on, looked & tasted amazing we will be back! The only downside was the service was slow as it looked like there was only 3 people serving. Overall we will be coming back for sure.

I would of given full 5 stars if the food didn't take so long to come out. A little on the pricey side however all I can say is I was blown away by the service Ciera had delivered. Having previously worked in this trade myself I can appreciate the pressures behind the scenes, however Ciera worked those tables like no other and it was great to receive a warm and welcoming service for a change. I would say that Ciera is an absolute rising star in the industry and hope management nurture and appreciate all the fire fighting that I witnessed during my visit. On a side note you really do need to hire more staff because eventually you will end up with good staff leaving because of the unnecessary pressure.

Went for Sunday lunch, arrived earlier than our booking, told to sit at bar as our table wasn't ready? 7 tables empty? We moved into snug instead of restaurant as we were hungry, had to fetch our own cutlery as you have to when in snug area? Our food looked lovely, it was cold apart from the veg which came seperate, obviously been heated in Micro? Roast potatoes were rock hard and looked inemic. 3 types of meat, luke warm, gravy cold around the plate? Waitress came as we were finishing our food to ask if ok? Why would you go to the trouble of preparing our English roast and serve it cold?????? Will certainly not be returning.

Revisited for the first time in 5 years. This used to be our favourite pub until it had gotten ridiculously expensive. The food remains nice, but the prices remain ridiculous targeting the feckless poncy crowd. - Yet another great pub ruined by greed and this fantasy of 'high class dining'. Oh, and in case you're curious, 'seasonal veg' typically means a plate of peas.

Booked a table for 4 and was seated after a short wait. Excellent polite staff who promptly after an appropriate time to settle in, took our drinks order and then took our order when they brought the drinks. Food was done to perfection and even my fussy wife finished her food.

Sunday lunch was delicious! Costs a little higher than average but worth it. This is dog friendly pub/restaurant some of our party was a little put off by smelly (it was wet outside) and occasional barking dogs but not me, five stars!

Fantastic food and service!! I and four family members went for a meal on Easter Sunday. Delicious food. I had the vegan burger and the crumble for desert and my family had various meaty roasts and an assortment of desserts and drinks and we all enjoyed what we had. I will say there were lots of dogs sat in the bar area - it felt like almost every other table brought one! Just a warning for anyone with a dog allergy or strong disliking. Two of my family members intentionally sat as far as possible from the dogs and just as we were heading off a very smelly dog came in alongside our table. I'm glad they weren't there whilst we were eating!

Very slow service, not overly busy when we went in so that's no excuse. Food was poor. My main was luke warm as were the rest of the groups' main meals. Food didn't come with the sides that were advertised on the menu - no mango in the slaw and triple cooked chips (about 6 chips in total so very small portions). The kids' meals didn't come with the veg sticks as advertised and the chips used were skin on chips (not mentioned on the kid's menu). All well and good for adults but with picky kids it meant my child didn't eat them. Didn't bother saying anything to the waitress who served us as it took forever to get the food. Seemed like if you were drinking alcohol then it's great in there. Anyone ordering food that we saw in there were also unhappy with the very slow service.

Lovely food, dog friendly! Service was good and fairly quick. Very busy. Drinks were a bit pricey but we all enjoyed our meal and would return for a special occasion.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Consistently appalling. Kept having to ask for drinks we had ordered, meals not cooked through, returned them and they were brought back burnt. The staff and manager treated us with utter contempt. Never again.

£17 For Burger And Fries ???? NICE BUT WAY WAY WAY OVERPRICED, WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER GO AGAIN...... OVER £21 FOR A BURGER FRIES AND A PINT OF GUINNESS...SOMEONE HAS TO PAY FOR THE REFURB And £5 for a Pint of Guinness, Must be the most expensive in coventry.......

Came on mothers day, very busy & lovely ambiance, staff helpful & polite. Food was really tasty & well presented.

Mothers day menu. Starters arrived promptly but some miscommunication among serving staff meant that our mains, turkey roast, arrived before we'd finished our first course. Roast was plentiful, but too much, perhaps smaller portions could be considered, but we were offered a take home box, which we declined. Pudding was good and service was also good. Nice place to eat and much improved since our last visit in terms of service and food.

Booked dinner on a Saturday evening. Staff were very attentive, the atmosphere was cosy and the food was tasty. Would recommend the Wild Garlic Lamb Skewers, Signature Burger and Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Burger!

Was pleasant enough. Food could have been hotter when delivered to table. Was hungry and had to take medication with food, so ate it as was. Side of potatoes wasn't worth the cost.

We visited to celebrate my husbands birthday. Wish we hadnt bothered. Extremely poor service and food. Sunday lunch was appalling beef was fatty, tough and inedible really. No turkey or other choices available. Waited over an hour for the dinner which we had to send back TWICE and gave up in the end. There was only 3 girls serving the entire place (which is big) at one of the busiest times of the week. Couldn't get table service for drinks as staff were useless & had to wait over 20 minutes at bar to be served as only 1 trainee working. Avoid this place. Food is not cheap either. They allow pets in too but to be fair they were the only ones who could eat the meat. No manager was no available either. The supervisor refunded one round of drinks but after almost 2 hours waiting around we left hungry and disappointed. Do not recommend.

Unfortunately not the best experience. Olives served with pips still in and hard on a chipped dish. Steak served without a steak knife. Chips served with skin on even though we had been assured by the waitress they weren't. Then when we asked for a baked potato as a replacement we were given roasts. The cherry on the top was to be overcharged. We will be back as I believe everyone has a bad day.

Very disappointing was expecting a lamb shank as usual and what did I get a few scraps of lamb asked to be well done but they were cremated

Couldn’t fault the food, extremely tasty and big portions. Highly recommend. Appreciate we went on a very busy night but there seemed to be a lack of staff and we were forgotten about quite abit. Service lets the place down and the food was excellent.
