I have been popping into the Abbey for a pint and the odd meal for the last 25 years and have seen it go through many incarnations and owners. It has a great reputation for its large selection of beers and this visit was not a disappointment excellent. Now to the food review hmmm where shall I start? Food is about passion love fun and encouraging conversation what we were served was food with the cook's attitude all over it. My meal stared up at me and it looked grim the last time I had a meal this bad was at a Hong Kong street food market and what was dished up was still smiling at me. I think a conversation with the Kitchen staff would not be a miss. Standards have slipped for all the cheap offers and fancy menu it means nothing when served something that would have caused a riot in a prison. Marks out of 10, 0 must try harder.

We love this pub.Staff are brilliant and make you feel very welcome. My wife and I had Sunday lunch.Plenty of choice on the menu and food was delicious. I’m a big eater but didn’t have room for a pudding 😂. Staff were attentive and very efficient. All in all a great experience we will definitely return. Thank you

It seems unreal that this place has only got a 3.5 rating. We live nearby, have visited for the past 20 years plus and have never had anything less than superb food. During covid lockdown the place became a bit of a tonic for us, driving up to collect excellent takeaways. We are lucky to have it on our doorstep.

Not just a beautiful place to eat, but the food was top notch, as in cooed to perfection, presented well and served with a smile. Even the local clientele were very friendly and welcoming. We were greeted with a happy attitude, which settled us down for a great lunch. It was a Tuesday lunchtime, and just became busier throughout our stay, so booked early. I'm 71 and have to say it has been one of my best lunchtime experiences. It is also an historical place. Nice location by the river, room outside for dogs and even humans. Thank you to both of the staff in attendance.

Ashamed to have taken our American visitors there! Our friend had got caught in motorway traffic and was running late. We rang to apologise and they said it was still ok to come. When we got there at 3.45 pm we were met with not “hello or welcome” but a scowling waitress whose greeting was “You’re too late, we shut at 5 pm”! Rude and unwelcoming staff. And then our scowling waitress informed us there was no decaffeinated tea!!! In this day and age!!!! I was going to offer to nip to Tesco’s a get some, but in reality I wanted to get out of there asap as the afternoon tea had door-stop sized sandwiches with dry, unimaginative fillings and only a choice of scones, scones, and two of the tiniest Little pastries. I will not be returning!

We visited Arrow Mill recently and were 5 of us for Sunday lunch. The food was very poor. Overcooked, undercooked and the meat was tough. We were not asked how things were and no one liked to make a fuss in front of others but I think you should be very selective about your choice. Great venue spoilt by the food quality and attention to detail by the staff.
