The service was excellent, extremely helpful and polite. However the food quality was not what it used to be. The fish in batter was cheap quality, definitely not worth nearly 14.00. This place used to be lovely, have visited many times.

On a visit to Lichfield we were attracted initially by the building housing this tea rooms/cafe. Excellent home made tea cakes, nice pot of tea - we just had a snack - so that's all I can say about the food (which isn't well reviewed in other reviews to be honest). Friendly waitress.

Ashamed to have taken our American visitors there! Our friend had got caught in motorway traffic and was running late. We rang to apologise and they said it was still ok to come. When we got there at 3.45 pm we were met with not “hello or welcome” but a scowling waitress whose greeting was “You’re too late, we shut at 5 pm”! Rude and unwelcoming staff. And then our scowling waitress informed us there was no decaffeinated tea!!! In this day and age!!!! I was going to offer to nip to Tesco’s a get some, but in reality I wanted to get out of there asap as the afternoon tea had door-stop sized sandwiches with dry, unimaginative fillings and only a choice of scones, scones, and two of the tiniest Little pastries. I will not be returning!

We visited today and the staff we lovely. I’m thinking they would be so much better working at another restaurant as they were caring and professional and would grace another business. The food was very disappointing and both choices we made were not available. The quality of the food was not even up to weather spoons standard and a lot higher price. Guiness was served from a can at the same price as draft guiness. Very disappointed but hopefully will improve as a lovey building with great staff

Visited 18th August 2024 with 3 family members and a friend from France. My daughter and I ordered the Sunday Roast. Other meals were: Chicken pie, Burger and Sea Bass. Our Sunday Roasts were served and it was immediately apparent that they were well below standard. Very little food and hardly any gravy. The mashed potato looked as if it was out of a freezer and when I put my finger in it, it was nearly cold. Yorkshire pudding was shrivelled and had been reheated. My daughter’s roast was equally as poor so I returned my meal and asked for chicken pie instead. My daughter’s meal was taken away and reheated but was refused as it looked awful. I was told that there was no chicken pie left. We were not charged for the two roasts or the soft drinks. The “manageress” was very stand offish and made me feel as if it was my fault. The other three meals were acceptable. My daughter and I went to McDonald’s shortly afterwards. This was our first and last visit to this place!!

Do not be fooled by the beautiful facade, a gorgeous Tudor building nestled in the beautiful historic town of Lichfield. This is the worst experience I have ever had in Lichfield typically the food in the town is consistently very good. I visited with my, grown up daughters and their young children. All our meals were disgusting, low quality ingredients made for a thoroughly miserable Saturday afternoon. The staff looked stressed and unhappy, My Sausage and mash was just tasteless, i assume the mash was instant mash, it tasted of hot water, mixed with matter, the sausages appeared to be the cheapest quality available. i will not describe the other meals it was all thoroughly depressing to say the least the food was poor quality it and was barely eaten. clearly the owners and management of this shameful restaurant have no care for this business and appear to be quite happy to just take the money and expect their meals to be barely eaten. The gentleman i complained to who described himself as the manager, was completely disinterested about our complaints regarding the food. He is clearly inaffective in his role. Look at the beautiful facade but best not enter!!! A throughly disappointing and unpleasant experience.

Have visited Tudor cafe many times over the years and whenever we come in to Lichfield always head there for either breakfast, brunch or tea/coffee.....never had any issues and always a prompt friendly service. However, we called in yesterday, Thursday afternoon and was given the option of two tables near the entrance. We selected one and a young server set to cleaning our table and re arranging cutlery etc;. Another young server appeared wth menus and ran through the specials. Great ...just what you would expect. As we had another engagement later we were looking forward to that afternoon pick me up.We waited patiently for a server to return to take our order.....and waited further.I wouldn't normally try to attract a servers attention to take our order, but time was moving on.We never saw a server come our way again. We decided on a few more minutes waiting....another customer came in and was shown to a table near us and once settled in,their order was taken in less than 30 seconds. We were totally ignored by this same server who had shown us to our table and given us menus. We both decided to get up and leave and were asked by more senior staff at the new bar/counter if everything was ok.I explained our treatment and although an apology was offered,we voted with our feet and went elsewhere.Absolutely disappointed at this shoddy service and would certainly think twice about entering the café again. It wasn't very busy on a Thursday afternoon and those servers should know exactly who has come in and been shown to a table, given menus and retuned to take an order..... definitely more training needed and bad news always travels faster than good especially in hospitality.

I called in for tea, when on a visit to Lichfield. Having read some of the reviews, I was not sure how good it would be but wanted to see what the building was like inside. I arrived just after 4 (they close at 5) and was very pleasantly surprised. They serve a full afternoon tea for £14,95, which is good value these days, but, as I suspected, was no longer available at that time of day. (It doesn't have to be booked and can be ordered by a single person rather than only for a couple, as in so many cafes and restaurants.) However, I was offered a cream tea instead. The fruit scone was large, fresh and warm and served with butter, a small jar of raspberry jam and real Cornish clotted cream. The tea arrived in a decent sized china teapot, with additional hot water too - I got at least 4 cups from it - and I was only charged £6.50 which I thought very reasonable. The room was delightful, with low wooden beams and wooden panelling. I was the only customer throughout, although I had spotted others there ealier in the day. I would return very happily next time I am in Lichfield.

We had a pleasant time as a family meeting up with friends for lunch. The menu had a fairly good choice of food if you are omnivorous and the staff were very friendly. I had a soup which was very nice and my daughter enjoyed her sandwiches. My husband had the vegetarian lasagne which he said was OK. The prices were a bit overpriced but not drastically. There could have done with being more vegan and vegetarian options though as we did feel a bit limited on what we could order. Overall it was a good experience.

Whilst we really like this cafe because of its charm and character, we were very disappointed to be charged £2.10 for a glass of cordial for my toddler (not a J20 or anything bottled, which are often more expensive, but a regular children's orange squash). The tea prices in themselves are some of the highest in the area but I understand it a little more than charging £2.10 for a child's orange squash. It's unfortunate because we want to be able to support local businesses.

My friend and I have been here some time ago and as we were passing thought we’d give it another go. Certainly not a charming place, almost rundown and dingy . Food mediocre ( eg luke warm potato and cheese on toast, one slice of toast with no cheese), but the main gripe is that it was cold. Not that it was much of a problem because they couldn’t have rushed taking the order or serving any more if they’d tried. Maybe they only wanted to serve in one dining area to conserve heat so cleat tables as soon as possible.Definitely won’t be back.

I visit Tudor regularly and I am always greeted warmly by the lady on the beautiful chocolate counter. The staff are all friendly and smiley, especially the guy who runs around looking after the whole operation. The pies are yummy and the meals are delivered promptly and efficiently. The olde worlde feel to this historic place is second to none. I have been upstairs to the new secret garden on the balcony area overlooking Tudor row. This is such a special place and deserves more recognition. I would recommend a visit any time.

This is a great experience when visiting Lichfield to taste locally sourced homemade food. I’ve been a few times and the service is friendly and welcoming as it has that family feel. The food has been consistently delicious! I had the homemade cottage pie and the quality of the ingredients could be tasted and worth every penny. Definitely value for money in such an authentic setting. The hot chocolate floater is the best I have ever tasted! Popped in as passing through Lichfield on a day trip to spend a few hours and the old historical building really appealed. Inside it was chocced full of historical pictures and some documents plus a suit of armour, it was like travelling back in time. That said it was all about lunch mainly and that did not disappoint. We had a panini and a baguette which was packed with ingredients, very fresh (the baguette tasted as it was fresh made that day), and served not only without hardly a delay by friendly staff (every single one of them!!) who very attentive wanting to help and ask if our meal was ok for us. Great value for money (you get half as less and far poorer service for more money in plenty of other places I've visited across the country) and super nice staff in lovely surroundings. A definite re-visit next time we're in town!! A little gem.

Not only home-made GF, but first time I have seen a home-made battenburg, so again very welcome. Both were just £2.50 and well worth the price. I would have rated 5 stars were it not for the fact that a pot of tea for two also cost £2.50 per person, yet there was not enough for two cups. Service was good and I'm sure we could have had more water if we'd asked, but when you purchase 'a pot' rather than 'a cup', you should be able to expect to cups.

We both ordered the scampi which contain large pieces of prawn, very nice indeed except that my fork stlll had the remenants of someone's breakfast on it.Went to change it and didnt even get a "So Sorry Sir", just put it there.Anyway a clean fork did arrive, still no appology. Certainly wont be dining here again.

Visited here today with friends. Food was excellent but service was appalling. Waited 30 minutes for waitress to take order then another 30 minutes for food. Waitress was very rude, miserable and lazy. Two hours of my life wasted that I will never get back!!! Would not return or recommend to my worst enemy

Me and my friend ate here a few months ago and we were delighted with the home made cottage pie so much so that we decided to return once more a few days ago. However, we weren't as lucky this time, pie was very dry no gravy just dry mince and peas what a shame. Home made cakes look and are very tasty. What this place lacks is atmosphere to be more specific, staff don't appear happy in their work. In particular, the lady who works the till and avoids selling you chocolates. Twice we have bought chocolates from there and twice it has been such a chore. You are made to wait until she knows you ain't leaving without some chocolates. This lady just doesn't seem to want to serve you, never smiles, even walks away without any explanation or apology, she obviously doesn't want to sell you any chocolates. Nobody else can serve you so you just have to wait until she decides to come back. I always say if your work makes you miserable then leave and find something else unless you just are a misery then it won't make any difference except to the people who have to work with you. We will be giving The Tudor a wide berth next time plenty of other places to eat and buy chocolates in Lichfield with much happier and grateful staff.

My husband and I visited the cafe on Sunday. We had coffee and a toasted teacake, both of which were very good. We loved the interior, especially some of the quirky pieces that decorated the walls and corners. The chocolates by the till looked and smelled tempting, so as it was our wedding anniversary we selected four champagne truffles. Our sincere thanks to the lovely lady who showed us such kindness. The chocolates were absolutely gorgeous and made our anniversary very special.

I live very close by and have often had their full English, whilst not the cheapest it is always freshly prepared and the staff are excellent!

Popped in for a drink on Saturday afternoon. None of your teabag nonsense here, just perfectly brewed loose leaf tea and plenty of it. My husband really enjoyed his cappuccino. We didn’t have any cake, but they looked delicious and fresh. Lovely old building and smiling, helpful staff

Thought we would re-try this establishment to see if they have entered the 19th century yet. Unfortunately not - very poor service with staff chatting amongst themselves rather than serving.

A real Olde-Worlde Cafe in the centre of Lichfield with lots of charm. The waitress was fantastic - very welcoming and friendly.

The building is so beautiful to look at, it makes you realise how lucky we are to have these buildings here today. The food was really pleasant and the pot of tea was very good. The service was very good and the staff were very kind. I recommend this to everyone but just be careful as it is a bit expensive. :)

We were drawn to the place because of the fantastic building. We sat down and looked at the menus, after 10 minutes we got up and went to the counter as we were unsure what to do. Nobody came, so I found a waitress on my way back and asked how we could order food. She was very friendly and said “we’ll come to your table”. She then followed me back in and went to another table and we sat and waited for almost 10 minutes and listened to her talk about holidays, without taking their order! It was unbelievable, such poor customer service. We actually got up and left, we were ready to order four meals and were completely ignored. I can honestly say that I have rarely experienced such poor treatment. Shame, as we really liked Lichfield.

Popped in on a whim in hope we could fit her pushchair in; (many places In Litchfield are too small to accommodate) a lovely waitress greeted us and found us a table at the back with plenty of room for me, my daughter, Nan and grandad.

Came in on a whim. Food and service was great and prices were fair. Only real drawback was that the small tables by the door were occupied and I was loaded with shopping and I found it difficult to manoeuvre past, so think I will go in before I've completed any shopping missions. There are a wide range of chocolates and gifts to take out with you but some of them are a little on the expensive side.

Class service. Everyone was so kind. The stand out was the pork belly and the cheesecake

Due to negative reviews about service in the past, we hadn't visited for a while, but wow what a change. The service was first class and quick. Carly was excellent, very efficient and friendly, a tribute to your team. The Sunday Lunch exceeded our expectations, one of the best we have had for a while. We both had the Sirloin of Beef, which was plentiful and very tasty. For desserts we had the Trio of Desserts and the Chocolate Bomb, beautifully presented and far better than we had expected and well worth the extra cost. We were impressed with the layout of the restaurant and how cosy it was especially with the log fires burning. All in all a great restaurant and we shall return again.

Chips was vile. However, the fish and curry were lovley. I'm not sure I'd be in a hurry to visit this one again

I ate a beef burger , it did not taste right, left half of it, half an hour to an hour after I was sick as a dog and had diarrhoea. Food poisoning I presume. 😫
