Possibly the worst meal we've ever had! Manager agreed it was awful so refunded everything including drinks. Mixed grill came with steak 1mm thick & burnt, chicken (we think it was) was black, gammon so tough and burnt that I couldn't cut it. My wife's Steak was so tough my wife couldn't cut it. Truly terrible meal.

We'd popped into this Wetherspoons in 2019 with friends who just wanted to have a coffee and Hubby and I intended to return one day for a meal. At long last we returned (5 years later) to have that meal and we were so glad we did. The fish & chips were delicious (I could eat their fish every day!) The chips were plentiful (but we think the "garden" peas were from the can--not very good.) We had a side of chicken wings and do you know they were all wings and not a drumstick among them! The service was quick and smooth, the food piping hot and we just thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Maybe we can go back again one day! (You can see from our photos the square that the Duke's Head is located is all torn up so be careful!) In the NICE weather I am sure their beer garden is lovely to sit in!

Service is slow to non-existent, very few clear tables to sit at. Not a good experience lately. We’ve been disappointed the last couple of visits. We stopped by for lunch and there were nearly 10 tables that hadn’t been cleared and a further 3 tables that, whilst there weren’t any glasses or plates left on them, we’re covered on crumbs and dirt, inside and out so we left very promptly. The most recent visit, we popped in for a drink and some snacks. It was relatively quiet and we found a spot near the air con, as it was 26c outside. However, the girl behind the bar ignored me for ages while she very slowly poured 2 drinks for the couple before me whilst having a gossip. Another girl came but also ignored me and started to “help” with the same order the other one was dealing with. After 10 minutes of waiting and being ignored I gave up and we left.

Bigger than expected boozer in the centre of town. Town was covered in bright orange barriers, so having negotiated these was a relief to sit down. Usual historical references to persons born locally on the walls. Rowland Hill was one (in Kidderminster). There is a statue of him outside the erstwhile Post Office HQ in the City of London close to St. Paul's Cathedral. He was responsible for the introduction of the postage stamp.

Another great wetherspoons. Anyone who reads my reveiws knows I like a wetherspoons and this one ranks up with them. Not all are perfect but this one, even as a town centre locals pub works really well. As in nearly all ive been to the staff are efficient and the service smart and swift. Being a wetherspoons the food is very good value with an extensive menu to suit all needs. This is a pub and hotel is busy however the eating experience is sedate and non intrusive. I recommend the chargrilled chicken with mash. All the fish dishes and the all day brunch. Go chill enjoy

We had starters which had been sitting on the chefs counter for over 15 minutes, thankfully they arrived somewhat warm. After that, we proceeded to order two burgers. One of which was okay but the other one was beef and it was overcooked. The grill that the burger was cooked on was dirty and even after returning the burger to be cooked fresh, the new burger still was burnt looking and was practically black in parts. Definitely not the best experience!

I don't understand why the food is always lukewarm at best, served on cold plates and often under cooked or stale. My tomatoes are always raw, last week the peas were undercooked, the onion rings chewy and cold, mashed potato has a crust and is dry and the food was, again, stone cold by the time I was halfway through it. It's gone downhill considerably in the last couple of years and the prices are now almost double.

I have hosted events, ate and socialised and stayed in many of Wetherspoon hotels/pubs. I’ve raised over £1207 for their charity CLIC Sargent. The staff at The Dukes Head here are excellent, on the ball, there is no rowdiness or anti social behaviour even on the weekend. They have the sport on. John the Manager has made a great team, brill cask ales, great staff who work together to give customers a great experience. Saffron a bar tender has become a friend. Disabled access is great as I can get into the beer garden if I want. Well done The Dukes Head, Leominster a lot of other venues would do well to take a leaf out of your book.

England's Gate is a traditional British Pub and should be proud that it lives up such expectations. The food and the service was excellent. My wife had a steak which was very good. I had the steak and ale pie which was exceptional (especially for those who wish to have some comfort food occasionally . Pity more is not made of the 'pie of the day' as it was obviously hand crafted and had a very generous filling of tender and tasty steak. I was a little unsure of what I would get when ordering as the description and lead me to believe it might be 'brought in'. Top marks when it arrived and looked and tasted great. This (and perhaps other great items on the menu) should be heralded as a special dish (as it clearly was) . Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to go back and sample the food and atmosphere again. Super place, well above average food.

My wife and I live close to this venue but in the two years plus that we have lived here, we had not been to this establishment. My wife booked afternoon tea as a ‘special occasion’ as it was our anniversary. The afternoon didn’t start too well as there was no sign of our reservation. Although we had an email confirming the date, it wasn’t in the “Kettle’s” diary. Well it was, but for the following week. We got the impression that this was our fault. We agree that the views are very good and the staff polite but young and not that efficient, certainly not experienced To be direct, a flask and a pack of sandwiches is as good as an alternative as you can see as much of the views if you walk up one of the hills. It is with some regret that my review is honest and offers some direction in terms of improving what is on offer. 1. The whole building is ‘tired’; rather grubby and in need of a complete refurbishment. The outside seating needs completely redoing and the windows definitely need some attention. 2. The ‘tea’ (as in drink) was excellent - hot and tasty although £4 for a teabag and hot water if bought individually seems excessive to me) 3. The food, whilst fresh consisted of 3 small finger sandwiches - well filled but nevertheless small (equivalent to less than a full round of sandwiches), 3 extremely small slivers of cake - very sweet and quite artificial tasting, it did not amount to a whole slice and 1 small fruit scone with jam and decent cream. All for the bargain price of £22.00 each. To put this in perspective, that is: Pot of tea (c2 cups); 2/3rds of a round of sandwiches; half a decent slice of cake; a small scone with cream and jam. This is not a case of affordability but a case of value for money. And this certainly wasn’t. We were not given a choice of bread type or of sandwich fillings or what cakes were on offer. We don’t have any allergy issues but do have likes and dislikes of what sandwich fillings we like. One might argue that this is the price that you pay to eat and drink here and yes, you do have a choice to take it or leave it but at these prices, I’d expect 4 star service and food but sadly, this is just a cafe and I guess they can get away with charging what they like as people will use it. Given that we could have chosen other venues such as The Abbey Hotel, Cottage in the Woods which offer such ‘teas’, this was disappointing to say the least. Sometimes, profit is more important than quality and quantity. Sadly, I don’t see the latter being the priority here. Overall, my wife regretted booking this venue and we will not be rushing back.
