Its a wetherspoons...... you get what you pay for...

Stopped off for a quick lunch, turned out be a very slow lunch for a table of 4 (table 5 at 2pm ish on 1/1/24) ordered 4 meals, with 2 gammon steaks coming wrong and then taking a very, very long time to be rectified, with lots of tables being served before us when a "rush order" message should've been sent to the kitchen to prioritise the table as it had already been half sent, and by the time they did come back correct the other 2 diners had pretty much finished the meal. Server did offer us another round but as we were driving and had a toddler with us we had to politely decline. Printed menu needs updating to be aligned with digital menu, and no allergen symbols, specifically gluten free, on paper menu, they do have a big screen to check but if you're not very good with tech then you'd struggle. Decent beer as expected.

Decent boozer good if you like odd people

Nice surroundings. Good, inexpensive food with lots of specials on offer. My Leffe Blonde was at the usual high Spoons standard. My partner had the jacket potato with tuna mayo and was impressed with the amount of salad she had. A well above average Spoons. Nice place.

Bar service was great, waitress lazy.

The cask ale was marginally on the turn which was disappointing as I'd been looking forward to trying the Old Peculier on draft. The food came extremely quickly with a very pleasant and friendly waitress. However, I was a little surprised by the relatively small portion size (I had a salsa brunch or something). The staff were accommodating and the place had a buzz. Unlimited Hot Chocolate (morning only) is a great idea until later!

I go to this place quite often and the atmosphere and food have always been good

Cheap food is not a big amount, but tastie, good to take the kids to if you know they aren't that hungry.

I use Wetherspoons quite a lot when I'm travelling, they are what they are but are convenient and good value compared to eating out generally in the UK. Unfortunately this one is a bit of a dump. On this occasion the pub was very busy, there were a small number of free tables and I had to use one of several that had not been cleared or cleaned. Even after bringing my food and drink (separately) neither server saw fit to organise getting my table cleared - not only of the previous occupants' food but also of the pile of menus that had been left there. Other free tables were missing table numbers - not the first time I have encountered this issue here. Meanwhile one staff member was putting up Xmas decorations. I won't be using this one again.

Service behind the bar was a bit slow but pleasant and the staff were working hard!. Pizzas were v good...didnt seem to get my extra topping, but other half shared his chillis, so not a big issue. Fairly standard selection of beers...nothing standout, so chose a soft drink.

Good atmosphere but tables don't seem to get cleared and cleaned very quickly probably because of lack of staff?I had the Sticky Chicken which was very spicy and I enjoyed it.

Food was okay! The place wasn't very clean and tables took ages to be cleaned for the next people. The food took a while to come and so did the drinks. It was cheap and cheerful nothing exciting.

The small breakfast with coffee is amazing value - I'm not sure why you would go anywhere else.

Nice Spoon with truly excellent staff and good food. The managers and staff make the effort to brighten the place up which is appreciated. Park near the Chase hotel (closed) on the road for two hours for free or Cantaloupe road. 😉

A lovely clean pub with great service

A nice Wetherspoons, looked after, and not too dark.

Food overcooked, luke warm.. but friendly staff, reasonable prices.

Probably the smallest Spoons I have been in. Service and staff all good though.

Called in today 2-15.The staff were really efficient and friendly and broke the mould of other Wetherspoons by making eye contact and not behaving like robots so well done.Will come again .PS avoid the Kings Fee Hereford bar staff are awful .On further visits to The Mail Rooms I have to say the staff are excellent in the polite manner in how they treat their customers.Been in again today in the afternoon 17th September.Just a reminder to the beardy bloke serving when I order a pint ime paying for liquid not froth about an inch down the glass plus come across a bit more pleasant would be advisable pal!.

Very busy. Table wasn't clean. food was just about warm. What staff I observed where working hard.

Just drinks, why wouldn’t you want to go to a Wetherspoon pub. Prices are brilliant and the Mail rooms are clean light and airy as you can expect it does get busy. Outside seating a bit limited from memory.

A very nice Wetherspoons, great location

Arrived for lunch yesterday and had to clean our table (last free one) Ordered lunch and drinks @ 11.55 on 3/8/24. It was very busy and we waited for about half an hour. No problem with waiting but a table diagonally opposite us was just piling up uncleared and looking terrible. My curry was fine but I had to give my wife my naan as she was still hungry as her fish was small and very dry, I also took my cutlery to the gents to clean it , grease and food debris washed away. Probably the worst Wetherspoon experience ever! It’s now 13/8/2024 and I haven’t heard from Wetherspoons so they are on my list to avoid ☹️

Very good value for the money. Burger and chips, with a pint, for under 10£... Really enjoyed my chichen tikka masala and pint first under 10£.

Love a Spoons! Especially this one.

I stopped by to grab a quick bite to eat. The quality of the food was decent, and given the price, I really can't complain. I'd definitely consider returning to Spoons for both food and drinks.

I recently had a great breakfast at The Mail Rooms - JD Wetherspoon. The food was well-prepared with a good variety of options. I liked the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The atmosphere was welcoming and cozy, perfect for starting the day. The staff were friendly and efficient, providing excellent service. Overall, The Mail Rooms - JD Wetherspoon is a fantastic place for breakfast. I highly recommend it for a delicious morning meal.

Found this to be a very nice Wetherspoons venue, very light and airy, lots of space and a nice atmosphere. Through arrived quickly and was of a good enough standard Staff were friendly and helpful but as usual, you have to use some stairs to get to the toilets, although there are disabled toilets on ground level

Nice place friendly staff good good will go back.

Cold breakfast even on second attempt. Firstly the porridge was ok, a little salty but ok and hit. But the small breakfast, beans and toast. (Burnt bread not really toasted) were cold on both attempts at ordering. Also the Waterford is not hot enough to make tea. It was edible but not a great experience. Shane everywhere else was closed, Won’t be coming here again. Get what you pay for!

Steak n kidney pudding, peas and smash. Hardly any meat in 'Pudding' mushy peas, didn't state in menu and smash was 'ok'. Small portion. Disappointed and not what I expect from Spoons.

One of the more quieter Spoon's we have visited, an absolute must if you are visiting Ross on Wye friendly staff nice and clean, 5 mins from caravan park

We met up with relatives who was visiting Ross, so Weatherspoons was the choice for lunch.

Better standards than the average Spoons.

The food was very good and it was hot. A nice pub to have a drink in. Well recommended 👌.

This establishment is well over due for a deep clean for everything above eye level. Ordered two meals which were okay if I had ordered from the child’s menu, the portions were no adult meals. I might revisit but only for a drin.

Lovley food ,friendly hard working staff.Good atmosphere for the cup final.And there was a cider festival on. Brilliant

I enjoy as a rural jd's but this experience was below normal,had a job to find a table when I did ac was to ferce service was OK but my ham egg and chips was very poor indeed ham ok egg look like they had bin pick up of the floor plate was messy too .generally saw only 2 waiter's and passing tables with crockery his a no no!!!!

I went on a fairly quiet time so did have very quick service, food is fairly standard for a spoons I wanna say it's cheaper than the Monmouth spoons. Fairly good place to have a cheap but good meal or drinks.

Actually, it's really nice in here. Good mix of people and probably the cheapest Sunday breakfast I've ever had!

We went here for couple of drinks, such good value compared to other pubs, with a relaxed atmosphere, mix of punters young and old, two large glasses of pinot for £5.90

No beef burgers! Otherwise nice clean, pub with good staff. The food we chose instead of burgers was good. Would definitely go again

We enjoyed our visit. The place was very busy but because it’s so light and airy it didn’t matter. Staff were very good! Explained about delay with food before we ordered. We had the Korean chicken. A little dry but it served us well. Could have done with a tiny bit more sauce / lettuce in bun. As usual very good value for money.

Staff prefer to serve locals before others and make it clear.

Terrible service from the bar man who was on shift today at around 3pm. I was ignored 3 times whilst he proceeded to serve customers whom came to the bar after me. Will not visit here again just for the rudeness of this member of staff.

Does what it says on the lid. Staff are great. Food for a micro meal is better than it should be. The more people in there the harder it is to hear. Poor acoustics.

It's a Weatherspoons. You get what you pay for - sticky carpets and slightly grubby chair seats. Smaller portions that cost more.

It's got better this year, I enjoy the pub, whereas a year ago the staff were rude.

Absolutely amazing atmosphere, friendly staff, wonderful food, plus even when they are extremely busy, I still got my drinks in 2 minutes and food within 13 minutes, when I ordered through the app. It's a lovely location and amazing food. If you're in the area it's definitely worth a visit. Oww plus it's very reasonably priced as well.

Ordered a Jacket with 5 bean chilli, arrived and started. Could hardly find any chilli, such a shame as it tasted really good. Complained to waitress. AVOID 5 BEAN CHILLI.

Decent Weatherspoons. Cleaner than most, friendly staff, excellent value for money. You know what you get in this place, I like it.

I have to mention “George” she was amazing x funny and a great team member! She said she was leaving soon to go back home? X It’s their gain! Came down from Cardiff for a few hours and George was lovely! I did try talking to the local people but they were psychopaths x

Food and drink delivered to our table within minutes, great customer service and fab atmosphere

It's a Wetherspoon, so decent food and drinks for a great price. But it's really noisy. And I mean REALLY noisy. Like, it actually hurts your ears. So that brings down the rating 2 stars.

Only knocked the food down, as they didn't have my preferred 1st choice, but prices were cheaper than advertised, which is always a great bonus.

I give a combined 4 star for food, I had a very average, cold burger on one night, with nice sides, but a brilliantly made breakfast just two days later. Fast service, cheap prices.

Popped in for breakfast on a rainy and miserable morning. Plenty of free tables, and lots of space. Ordered food and drink on the app, and drink was brought to the table very quickly. Food came in just a few minutes. Staff were very friendly, appreciate service with a smile. Food was good, bacon cooked just like I like it.

Izzy was an amazing bartender, she gave me all the good recommendations and was extremely attentive, accommodating and all round an excellent bartender. i couldn’t ask for better service from her☺️ if you come to this weather spoons made sure you look out for her !! thank you izzy ❤️

As spoons go this one is below average. Staff are hit and miss with degrees of politeness and service. Also the number of children left to run around unsupervised by their parents who are only interested in chatting to each other. I’m amazed an accident didn’t happen

We are on holiday here at local caravan park,come here twice in last 3 days,we were so impressed.The staff were superb,happy,nice people,especially the customer service from the tall chap with beard.The pub was clean,the best weatherspoons experience i have ever had. Thank you all staff👍👍👍

I ordered fish and chips, my friend ordered steak. The steak was a bit tough. And I liked the fish. I didn't have time to take a photo. Interesting place. Light. High ceilings. There is a balcony for smokers. We stopped by after shopping to grab some food before heading home. I think they even had a children's menu. But we didn’t take the kids with us.

Just what we needed. Breakfast served quickly and the usual good value. Great service from friendly staff.

I have visited lots of place in different cities of witherspoon but that one which I visited liked most of all. Due to design of the building inside it automatically created lighting and spacious inside, whereas the rest vice versa. It was calm and pleasant to spent time there. The one huge dissatisfaction is camera in the loo in witherspoon in Gloucester and Rose on Wye, It's illegal and destroy the human rights! Unfortunately it's up to you to visit this place or not but I wouldn't.

Ordered a large breakfast & was really looking forward to it. When it came out it looked lovely but then the bad news they had no brown sauce so spoilt the whole meal as a breakfast isn't breakfast without brown sauce in my opinion. If I had know wouldn't have bothered

Normally very decent food, ( hence the 4 stars) but our last meal there was mediocre. I had fish, which was very dried up,as was my sister-in-law's...as if it had been sat for hours after cooking. She had a small fish, I had regular,but both were miniscule. My brother and son both had curries,which were OK, but the naan breads had been placed on top of the poppadoms, so the poppadoms were soggy. The chips were fresh and crispy though! The place wasn't too busy when we went, it was Saturday lunchtime, and staff were quite quick at clearing and cleaning tables, the place was quite clean.
